Since it is a slow day on the TSP dhaga, time for a cons-pee-racy theory. How plausible this one is for the readers to decide.

Yesterday I was watching Jeopardy and what do you know? Quote from Gen Beg(ger) is one of the questions!

To quote "In 1992 Gen Beg from this country said 'Yes we have nukes and we will use them against India' "

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s “National Bird” has been pretty regular in its visits during the year. A sum total of 122 visits in 2010 nicely up from 53 in 2009.

There is one thing that puzzles me and that is in a nation that prides itself in its martial prowess as the sole Islamic Nuclear power, most potent Muslim Air Force in the world and such like, how come there is not a single report of an attempt to molest the “National Bird” in its peregrination’s over the Islamic Republic.

Is the “National Bird” somehow a “protected species”?

In pre-partition days, Jinnah used to say, quickly concede us Pakistan, and Pakistan, Hindustan will be allies with a doctrine like the Monroe Doctrine - "hands off India" - that we'll jointly enforce.

In that sense, India should be wary of both US and Chinese meddling in Pakistan, no matter what.

Not sure if this is big news. Retired Brigadier Ejaz Shah was known to be the key man in the Bhutto plot. The report does not say if this was a serving Brigadier. My hunch is that this may be Ejaz Shah and if that's so, it's old news.

Ejaz Shah, Hamid Gul and Chaudhary Pervez Ilahi were named by BB in her letter to Mushy and the media as the persons who were plotting to kill her.
Image
Hamid Gul, Aziz Khan and Pervez Elahi

The indicators are the Ejaz Shah was amongst the people managing the entire operation.

Ejaz Shah has other colorful achievements to his credit. Daniel Pearl's killer and the man released to end the hijacking of the IC-814 Indian Airlines flight - Omar Saeed Sheikh surrendered to Ejaz Shah after killing Daniel Pearl in cold blood, who in turn hid him for a week before the media came to know of it. Internally everyone know how big a Jihadi this guy is. He was nominated to the post of Ambassador of Australia by Mushy, but the Aussies refused to accept him as ambassador and so mushy made him Chief of the IB.

These paki abduls seem to be very inventive when it comes to dying. They dont need the IEDs to meet their maker.

TOLL FROM FIRING IN KARACHI REACHES 50
http://thenews.com.pk/NewsDetail.aspx?ID=8424

An episode in Mythbusters tried to see if firing a bullet in the air could kill a person. Strangely it was given 'Busted, Plausible and Confirmed' at the same time. The problem was they found if a bullet is fired straight up it wont be able to come down fast enough (because the bullet tumbles etc) to cause much damage. However if it is fired at an angle it could kill. Even then a 'death toll' of 50 in one night is mind boggling and does not appear to be correct. May be they just meant toll rather than 'death toll'

Quite amazing!
A death toll of 50+ from aerial firing for celebration.
Goes to show how heavily weapons are clustered in Karachi.

But isn't it kufr to celebrate new year according to the Roman Calander hain?

Gagan, that's not Brig. Ijaz Shah, that's Gen. Mohammed Aziz Khan

BTW, guys, just a reminder: Brig. Shah is a general dirty trix man for the ISI (or so it appears). He was also the one who had a role in the events surrounding Daniel Pearl's death, having allowed Omar Shaikh to "surrender" and stay with him for a week or so before being apprehended by the formal authorities...

Yes, and he was then supposed to be posted as TSP's ambassador to Indonesia, but ended up as the head of the "Civilian" Intelligence Bureau under Musharraf. He is a Musharraf loyalist and dirty tricks man for Gola.

This is Ijaz Shah.
Image

As chief of the IB, this man has been on a murderous spree in Balochistan. The kidnappings and roadside murders of all people associated with the baloch independence movement was spearheaded during his tenure (Feb 2004 - Mar 2008).

One more thing about this guy. He apparantly refuses to be photographed in public. There are no images of this guy on the net in open source except this one. (I think there was another one with him standing in a group, but that was long back, I'll have to search).

There was a list of ISI and Pakistan army dirty men on this or some other dhaga. Ijaz Shah was there.

That Gen Mohammad Aziz Khan was Musharraf's co-conspirator in their Kargil misadventure. And he was the guy who was talking to musharraf on that tape that was recorded by indian intel and played to the media during the kargil war.

R-man,
I agree with you, it is unlikely that Pasha or any of the higher ups in Pakistan's military will ever be brought to book for the crimes they've committed.
India is simply not powerful enough, and Pakistan and the military clearly have powerful benefactors.

One blooper though, I've corrected it.
The man who ordered the hosing down of the BB assasination scene was not Brig Ijaz Shah but Mushy's relative and crony Maj Gen Nadeem Ijaz.
Link
ISLAMABAD: The report of the UN fact-finding commission says the then Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO), Saud Aziz, had ordered to hose down the scene of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination at the Liaquat Bagh on the order of the chief of the Military Intelligence of the time, Major General Nadeem Ijaz, who was not only a relative of Pervez Musharraf but also a known crony of the former dictator.
Also, Nadeem Taj (not Pasha) was ISI chief at that time, and he did the standard CYA (Cover Your A$$) operation, by meeting BB on the morning of the assassination to tell her to be careful that day, because there was possibly a plan to take her out.
Maybe that is why Nadeem Taj was replaced by Pasha by Kiyani.

A little bit of info abou Brig Ijaz Shah from Wikipedia (and its links)

1. He was the personal handler of OBL, Mullah Omar, and Omar Saeed Sheikh. (I thought the late 'Col. Imam' was the person who usually took OBL along to Military Hospital Peshawar for treatment and took him around the place)

2. He is also said to be involved in Syed Hammad Raza's assassination. Syed Hammad Raza was Pakistan CJ Iftikar Chaudhary's close confidant. The powers that be were trying to motivate Raza to give some testimony to implicate Iftikar Chaudhary, apparantly Raza refused and was shot point blank by assailants. That case is still ongoing and his wife is complaining that the pakistani police are trying to convert that case into one of dacoity instead of assassination.

3. This guy was rejected by Australia as ambassador, but then he eventually did move there to settle there. Apparently he lives there.

There are still things India can do. For e.g., whenever the issue of terrorism against India comes up, TSP will claim it has lost a lot of soldiers figting the mighty "Al Queda" bla bla and the India's case is blunted. Its up to to the higgest levels of Indian govt, starting with MMS himself, to emphasize with defeaning repetition that the real cancer that afflict TSP is the not the support to Al Queda, but to LET, specificially targeted against India, and it must be repeated in every press conference, with every interlocuter. Instaed what do we have: "No Indian Muslim is part of Al Queda", from MMS or "Hindu Terrorism is more of a threat than LET" from RG etc. India is definetly more powerful than this level of cowardice in not not being able to confront the monster that threatens it. In short, India should not accept that so called Al Queda is the gold standard for terrorism, and TSP terrorism against India is also "global terrorism".

Both Australia and an ummah Indonesia rejected him because of his ISI connection and notorious background.

The Indonesian rejection brings to mind a similar issue concerning Lt. Gen. Javid Nasir. He was such a ferocious born-again Islamist that even KSA dreaded him and demanded TSP to relieve him from the post of ISI-chief, which Pakistan had to oblige.

Amazing Indeed!
Anyone reading BRF will know how rotten Mushy and the Pakistani Army Chief and crore commanders are.
The only thing that one can conclude is the blind hatered that these guys have for India. Mushrraf of-course was strategically brilliant in the most foolhardy and laughable way, and about as trustworthy as a rattlesnake.

So BB was doomed from the time she landed at the airport. The man Ijaz Shah who was supposed to be in the outer ring and incharge of her security was the person against whom she had complained to Mushy, and who was in cahoots with Mushy.
IOW, the Fauj wanted BB assassinated, they sent the man allegedly incharge of the operation to take her out, as her security point man!
Plan A failed in Karachi, Plan B succeeded in Pindi, I am sure they had Plan C & D also waiting. Note both had different modus operandi. Maybe plan C would have entailed ramming an ammo loaded vehicle at her bullet proof Toyota - who knows.

Also after reading B Raman's article it seems more and more likely that India (alongwith the US) tipped BB off on the plan to finish her off.

Gagan, I have always believed that apart from the Fauj, PML-Q's chief Chaudhry Shujaat was also involved. These were the two whose hold on power was directly threatened by the arrival of Ms. BB.

Musharraf thought that he would simply be able to continue as President and Chaudhry Shujaat was not averse to another one of a puppet Prime Minister from his own party. Musharraf had another plan up his sleeve also of becoming a PM and having a puppet President instead. All those plans went awry when the US wanted Ms. BB to return. The Master was unwilling to listen to Musharraf's plea of not letting BB return. They forced him to cut a deal with Ms. BB. Musharraf knew his days were numbered once the Americans went with Ms. BB. Like the excuse Gen. Zia gave about hanging ZAB, Musharraf also did not see any other option than elimination.

Pakistanis Rally in Support of Blasphemy Law
A crippling strike by Islamist parties brought Pakistan to a standstill on Friday as thousands of people took to the streets, and forced businesses to close, to head off any change in the country’s blasphemy law, which rights groups say has been used to persecute minorities, especially Christians
In fiery speeches across all major cities and towns, religious leaders warned the government on Friday against altering the law, which carries a mandatory death sentence for anyone convicted of insulting Islam.

“The president and prime minister should take the nation into confidence and assure in unequivocal terms that there will be no change in the blasphemy law under any international pressure,” Sahibzada Fazal Kareem, a religious leader and member of Parliament, said at a rally in the southern port city of Karachi, where the police fired tear gas to stop protesters from marching toward Bilawal House, one of the residences of President Asif Ali Zardari.

NUGGETS from TFT
Excerpts
Cities rise against Asiya’s asylum

Daily Jinnah reported that a number of cities staged protests against the alleged shifting of Asiya from Sheikhupura jail to Islamabad before sending her away to the US to avoid her being hanged under orders from a sessions judge. The processions were arranged by powerful religious organisations such as Tehreek Hurmat Rasul, Sunni Action and Sunni Ittehad Council. Friday was named as the grand protest day against Asiya’s asylum.

Blasphemy victim protests

Reported in Jinnah Asiya Bibi sentenced to death by a sessions judge in Sheikhupura said that she was being victimised as she had not blasphemed. She said the case was jhoota maqadama (false case) and that she was thrashed by the owner of the brick-kiln when she asked for her wages. The village chief (nambardar) dragged by her hair and slapped her. The villagers put a yoke around her neck and paraded her and she was in jail for over a year where she was tortured by police.

Victim of Blasphemy and Governor Punjab

Daily Jinnah quoted Governor Punjab Slamaan Taseer as saying that he had verified that Christian lady Asiya of Nankana Sahib was innocent yet given death sentence for blasphemy by the sessions judge of Sheikhupura and that he would approach President Zardari with a request for pardon for Asiya Bibi. Asiya Bibi was the wife of a bhatta (brick kiln) labourer and had allegedly blasphemed during a quarrel over water with the local Muslim women. It was alleged that she had also adjudged Muslim qurbani (sacrifice) as being haram (prohibited) for her.

Governor has no right!

Leader of Ahle Sunnat (Barelvi) school of thought Fazl Karim was quoted in Nawa-e-Waqt as saying that Governor Taseer had no right to pardon blasphemy of Asiya Bibi. He said seeking pardon was in obedience to international pressure. Ulema said the Pope had no right to appeal for letting Asiya go because he could not save the Muslims of the Middle East from being killed by the Jews. Mufti Munibur Rehman also said President Zardari should not have the right to pardon.

The entire world punishes blasphemy

Leader of JUIF Dr Atiqur Rehman told Express that the entire world had laws punishing blasphemy, but he did not say whether the entire world gave death as the minimum punishment for blasphemy or that the victim suffered six years in jail before being proved innocent. Christian Minorities Minister Shehbaz Bhatti said that Blasphemy Law was being misused to persecute non-Muslims. Cleric Afzal Qadri said Blasphemy Law was abused the same way as the Murder Law but no one protested against the latter law.

Asiya Bibi may be given asylum

According to Express an illiterate Asiya Bibi had been offered asylum by a number of countries including Canada and America because her chances of remaining alive whether through law were very slim. She had been shifted from Sheikhupura jail to Islamabad. Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer said Blasphemy Law was a kala qanoon (Black Law) victimising the poor among the non-Muslims. He said Pakistan had become a tragic joke in the world because of this law. He said President Zardari had assured him that Asiya Bibi would not be hanged.

Nasira Javid says Blasphemy Law against Islam

Quoted by Nawa-e-Waqt wife of Justice (Retd) Javid Iqbal son of Allama Iqbal, Mrs Nasira Iqbal said that punishment of death awarded to Asiya Bibi was anti-Islam. Barelvi cleric Fazl Karim threatened that he would start a movement if Asiya Bibi was pardoned and allowed to leave Pakistan at the behest of ‘foreign masters’.

Wukla persons protest against Asiya Bibi

Reported in Jinnah the lawyers of Nankana Sahib and Sangla Hill came out to protest against the granting of pardon to Asiya Bibi and said that such a pardon would be contempt of court. They said the court should take notice of efforts to smuggle Asiya Bibi abroad.

Shujaat against Asiya’s pardon

Reported in Jang Chaudhry Shujaat of PMLQ said that pardon given to the Blasphemy Law victim Asiya Bibi would be wrong and would entail violent reaction. About his party MNA Hamid Yar Haraj’s being posted as head of earthquake rehabilitation agency ERRA by the PPP government, he said it had nothing to do with PPP-PMLQ reconciliation.

JUIF wants Asiya hanged?

Reported in Jinnah, coalition partner of PPP the JUIF said that Asiya Bibi should be allowed to face whatever punishment the courts hand down to her and that there should be no pardon. It supported death sentence for blasphemy and asked the government to pay more attention to drone attacks. It said it will physically resist any pardon.

Sheikhupura rises against Asiya Bibi

Daily Jinnah reported that religious parties in Sheikhupura in Punjab came out in strength supporting the death sentence of Asiya Bibi blocking all roads and causing traffic jams and saying that they will not allow pardon to her and will react to sending her out of the country for asylum. In Pakistan, judges and lawyers are intensely conservative and religious.

Rana Sanaullah for Asiya’s death

Law minister of Punjab Rana Sanaullah was quoted by Jinnah as saying that he was in agreement with the punishment meted out to Asiya Bibi under Penal Code Section 295-C and that Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer was acting like a spoiled child (bigra batcha) by supporting her and trying to win a pardon for her. He said by doing dalassa (compassion) to Asiya he was causing a Muslim-Christian conflict (fasad).{Now, Rana Sanaullah was the Minister who toured the Jhang constituency in an open jeep accompanied by the chief of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) and canvassed the electorate. When accused of going to bed with very violent terrorists, the strange explanation that was offered was that an organization could be banned but its foot-soldiers and supporters could not be !! It is an interesting project for some one to compile such gems from Pakistani mouths.}

Such Gup, folks, Such Gup.
About to hit the fan

A bout six months ago, a Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) contract came up for bidding and eventual auctioning. The Min of Pet duly advertised it in the major national newspapers. It was a big deal involving supply to 360 LNG stations across the country. Basically, two companies were bidding. One didn’t fulfill all the criteria; even their paperwork was incomplete. So the other company in the running got the contract. Thereafter, inexplicably, a huge ruckus was created in the media and much muck was raked. It came to the point when the supreme adjudicators took notice and ruled that the contract had been unfairly awarded. So, naturally, the other company was called back and given the contract. As it happened, the contract was full of holes, courtesy the Min of Pet and has turned out to be far more expensive for Pakistan than earlier envisioned. Those who know have smelled a rat and there’s a distinct Multani connection involved. All heads are turning towards Gill on the Hill and the feces are about to hit the fan.

Fraudulent refunds

And that’s not the end of it. There are yet more Multani connections at work. A lady who’s said to be close to Gill on the Hill has managed to conduct a big scam at a large and well known public hospital in Lahore. And then there’s the scandal of billions of rupees in undeserved refunds to exporters courtesy an obliging secretary, also in league with Gill. They say the fraudulent refunds were sanctioned by the Trade and Development Authority of Pakistan under direct orders from Gill via the obliging secretary.

Thank God!

Two well-heeled ladies of a notable Lahori family were discussing the impending nuptials of their New York-based fund manager nephew. His intended bride-to-be was rumoured to be Jewish. Appalled, one of the aunties called her nephew in NY and asked baaton baaton mein “beta, I hear Natalie is Jewish”. The groom-to-be replied promptly, “no, she’s not. She’s athiest”. Both aunts heaved a sigh of relief and said, “thank God!” :rotfl:

DNA - Dronacharya welcomes pakistan to a new ghulami and sharm-e-year

15 killed in US drone attacks in Pakistan’s tribal belt
Published: Saturday, Jan 1, 2011, 14:33 IST
Place: Peshawar | Agency: PTI

US drones attacked a compound and a vehicle in Pakistan's lawless tribal belt near Afghan border today, killing at least 15 Taliban militants in the first strikes of the new year.

In the first of three strikes today, the drones targeted a vehicle in Spin Wam area of North Waziristan tribal agency, officials said.

The unmanned spy planes fired four missiles at the vehicle, killing at least eight Taliban fighters and injuring several others, they said.

In the second strike, a predator drone fired two missiles at a suspected militant hideout near Mir Ali town, killing three militants, the officials said.

The third strike targeted persons who were removing bodies and the injured from the site of the first attack in Spin Wam, they said. At least four militants were killed in this attack.

Independent sources said four foreign fighters were among the dead.

North Waziristan is considered a stronghold of top Taliban commander Jalaluddin Haqqani, whose men fight foreign troops across the border in Afghanistan from bases in the region.

There were a total of 113 drone attacks in Pakistan's tribal belt last year, including 69 in North Waziristan.

The missile strikes had almost doubled last year and over 650 people were killed in the attacks.

With that amount of firepower on the loose in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan it is perplexing that there is not a single report of an instance that a peregrination of the “National Bird” has been attempted to be interfered with in 2009 and 2010:

Drone attacks up by 134 pc in 2010, deaths up by 56 pc

Meanwhile going by Singha's above post the “National Bird” of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has certainly been making it particularly clear on the first day of the new year of 2011 with three peregrinations that it will be frequently visiting in 2011 as well.

Pakistan Taliban commander Qari Hussain killed in US drone attack
Pakistani Taliban's top commander Qari Hussain Mehsud, best known as the trainer of suicide bombers, has been killed in a US drone strike in the country's restive tribal belt, a provincial minister said today.

"Qari Hussain was killed in a drone strike," Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said

The Taliban commander died in North Waziristan tribal region in the first week of October. There was no word from the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan on the development.

Analysts said that if the report is confirmed, it would be a serious blow to the Taliban.

Noting that another Taliban leader named Azmatullah had also been killed, Hussain said the government would succeed in eliminating militants in 2011.

Gagan, one question. Is Ijaz Shah in Oz still the guy who did his thing Baluchistan? If so, the Ausralian Human Rights Commission might like to hear about him. Here's what he would have had to check off in his application:

"(c) Have you, or any other person included in
this application, ever committed, or been
involved in the commission of war crimes
or crimes against humanity or human rights
overseas
or in Australia?"

Source : http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/80.pdf

If he is the guy, whether or not, he has been 'convicted', he will face a review...

If any Ozzies here want to raise awareness with HR groups, this might be a wedge.

Pakistani culture spreads to the fabled land of the Pharaohs?

Egypt bomb kills 21 at Alexandria Coptic church
President Hosni Mubarak urged Egyptians to unite against "terrorism". In a televised statement, he blamed "foreign hands" for the bombing
Former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros Ghali, an Egyptian Coptic Christian, condemned the attack. "I'm sorry to see this style of attacks, which was unknown in Egypt. This style has spread in Iraq and other countries like Pakistan. "This reminds me of the situation in Karachi where a Shia mosque is blown one day and a Sunni mosque is blown up the next and civil war goes on between the two groups," he told Nile TV.

Earth-e-shaster out nuts nutty nation..

Either that or this Abdul Ruff is the most successful troll in the history of trolling.

A sovereign Kashmir
Dr Abdul Ruff
Earlier in October, Secretary-General Ban Kid-moon had said that the UN would not intervene in Kashmir issue until requested by both the parties-India and Pakistan. “As far as this role of good offices is concerned, the UN normally takes that initiative when requested by both parties concerned. India and Pakistan, they are neighboring countries, important nations in that region - peace and security would have important implications,” he said. The UK reportedly repeated its support to see India on as a permanent member of the Security Council at the debate in the General Assembly. Unfortunately, India has tactfully silenced UN chief. India officially bribes even the top world leaders, including UN chief with awards, honorary degrees and ready cash plus other “usual” benefits for services rendered to promoting Indian causes. Shameless Ban kid Moon, who intermittently talk about Indian horrors in JK, scruplessly accepted in New Delhi an award and “cash price” last year as part of package to support Indian cases in UN, especially on Jammu Kashmir and a seat on the notorious terrorist UNSC to safeguard its interests in JK and shield the state criminal from any possible punishments for their crimes against humanity in JK.

Resolution of Kashmir issue remains the key to peace in the region fo two nuclear powers, while USA is keen to stll the Pakistani nukes by playing “not doing enough” song. America claims to be a close ally of Pakistan, but US president ignored Islamabad I in his first trip to the region. US Obama talks about world peace and good relations with Muslims, but he only obliged New Delhi, an major enemy of Muslims, Kashmir and Pakistan, in not visiting Islamabad before coming to India. In India Obama’s real face got exposed. In spite of the fact that Obama denied permission to lobbyist for both Israel and India, both have somehow managed backdoor entry into the White House and get things done by using office of the top Indo-Israeli lobbyist Mrs. Clinton. Anti-Islamic media in USA promotes illicit ties with India and Israel – both are fascist States.

Somethings never change - if you see the inherent violence on the minds of the current population of Sheikhupura - its not surprising at all. Sheikhupura, which used to be called Singhpuria saw some of the worst Sikh/Hindu massacres during partition.

The predatory and genocidal nature of Pakistani society has not changed since its creation. We sometimes end up blaming Zia for Pakistan's radicalism, but there's little evidence that Pakistanis (especially Punjabi-Pakis) would have been any less genocidal, had Zia not existed.

Moreover, the inherent terrorism of the Pakistani army is really a reflection of the character of Pakistani society and not the other way around.

From the TFT posts above...we see the enthusiasm of ordinary people in executing Asiya Bibi...
Asiya Bibi sentenced to death by a sessions judge in Sheikhupura said that she was being victimised as she had not blasphemed....
religious parties in Sheikhupura in Punjab came out in strength supporting the death sentence of Asiya Bibi blocking all roads and causing traffic jams and saying that they will not allow pardon to her and will react to sending her out of the country for asylum.
From wikipedia, going back 2 generations...Singhpuria ceased to exist - the Pakistani army, police and its people collaborated deeply to perpetrate this genocide...
Shaihupura in pre-partition era (before 1947) was a prosperous land of traders and had a healthy mix of Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims. However, the partition saw bloody conflicts leading to mass migration of Hindus and Sikhs from Pakistan to India. The major Indian newspapers in that time quoted in the month of August 1947 - "Shaikhupura no more..." to express the extent of killings that Shaikhupura witnessed.

Violence as Pakistan strikes over blasphemy law
Police said protesters near the home of unpopular President Asif Ali Zardari in the financial hub of Karachi pelted stones as they shouted slogans including "We'll sacrifice our lives -- we'll save the sanctity of the Prophet".
Usual Paki threat of soosai and negotiating with a gun to their own head
...
AFP reporters said markets were closed on Friday and roads deserted in the otherwise bustling cities of Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Islamabad and its neighbouring garrison town of Rawalpindi.
And they wonder why no one will give them any business. :((
....
Around 5,000 people rallied in the city (Karachi), carrying placards and banners inscribed with anti-government and anti-US slogans with some chanting "Death to America".
Amazing that they haven't blamed Yindoos or Yehudis yet

Israel and Pakistan are the two twentieth-century states founded around religion. Sadly, Israel is turning fundamentalist.
http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2010/ ... ist-future

State power and religion interact in an unhealthy way - the wreck may be faster and more certain with Islam, but it happens nonetheless.
