Too much cricket related news on all news channels these days.
Sick and tired of watching re-runs of all the world cups now which total more than than the reruns of FRIENDS and SEINFELD.
The last thing I want to see is 2007 redoux after all this hype.

I hope and pray Team India wins WC 2011 for SRT and he also bats and swings his arm over and gets India to victory by reliving some Hero Cup moments.

Else, the Periayrites will have a field day by looking at onions everywhere in SRT's career.

The world cup format is set up so that all the test playing teams get to the quarter finals (in the past one loss for to a minnow could knock you out however this time a minnow needs to beat two test playing nations to have any chance of progressing). After that it's just a case of which team can pull together 3 consecutive wins to take the trophy.

Keep everyone injury free and India have a great chance. Moreover we get to play it all at home -our quarter final is guaranteed to be at Amdavad, semis, if we make it through, at Mohali then final at Mumbai.

Aussies have begun their psy ops and the main Aussie plant Chappell is at the fore front:

So, why does he need to dig this up after being silent for 4 years, right before the WC? Trying to rake up issues when there are none...

Marten saab, didn't get the comment above :(

In other news, the match fixing trio got handed their sentences

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/cont ... 99614.html

Me thinks effective 5 years of actual ban is too lenient. Butt should have gone out for life at the minimum.

I liked this flash based WC schedule. You can instantaneously view matches by Date, Team, Stadium or city.

ODE TO CRICKET!!

To all you cricket fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEVER TRUST A CRICKETER

Come all ye fair young maidens and harken unto me,

Never trust a cricketer, whoever he may be.

Randier than a sailor who's been six months at sea,

Never let a cricketer's hand an inch above your knee

First let's take the paceman, pure speed from first to last!

My darlings do be careful; his balls are hard and fast.

Then there's the medium pacer, his balls swing either way;

He's really most persistent and can keep it up all day!

And watch for the off-spinner, girls, another awkward chap.

If you leave him half an opening, he will slip one through the gap!

Then there's the wily 'slowy', pure cunning is his strength;

He'll tempt you, then he'll trap you with his very subtle length.

So ladies, do be careful, your mothers would agree.

Never trust a cricketer, whoever he may be.

And what about the opening bat, his struggles never cease!

He has only one ambition, to spend all day at the crease.

The number three is a dasher, he seldom prods and pokes.

When he goes into action, he has a fine array of strokes..

And do beware the slogger, not content with one or two;

When he arrives at the crease then only six will do.

Then there's the real stonewaller, girls, he knows what he's about;

And if you let him settle in, it's hard to get him out!

We come now to the last man, I hope this will not shock,

He doesn't mind if he's last man in, as long as he gets a knock.

So, darlings, do be careful, and be well warned by me:

Never trust a cricketer, whoever he may be.

And watch the wicketkeeper, girls, he's full of flair and dash;

And if you raise your heel, he'll whip them off in a flash.

If you take the field with the captain, you had better know the score;

Or he'll have you in positions that you never knew before!

The cricket commentator is a nasty sort of bloke,

He watches all the action and describes it stroke by stroke.

Even the kindly umpire, who looks friendly as a pup;

You'll quickly find you've had it, when he puts his finger up!

So, darlings, please remember and repeat it after me:

!!!!NEVER TRUST A CRICKETER, WHOEVER HE MAY BE!!!!!

phuck dada has no respite
Ganguly comments spark retirement rumours
Asked specifically if he was retiring from all forms of cricket after being ignored by IPL teams, Ganguly said that he had retired from international cricket and there is no possibility of him playing in the IPL this season.

But his remarks were immediately interpreted as retirement from all forms of the game and television channels also got reactions from former cricketers on the development.
:lol:

btw, who is better to contain during slog: nehra or chawla ?/quote

DO you want 10 runs per over in the slog overs or 20? Based on IPL , Chawla goes for a lot more runs, but Nehra will not be economical. SO your question should who will leak more runs, Nehra or Chawla.

Dhoni, Please give Sreesanth a try in the last 2 one dayers. My pet wish is that soem Medium pacer(apart from Zaheer Khan) gets injured before semi-final of world cup and Parathan and Zaheer bowl out the opposition in the Semis and the Finals.
My Post from Page 17 of this Thread :lol: , Parathan got included earlier than I expected. I hope he is saved for Quaters, Semis and Finals. Let Nehra and Munaf play the league stage.

AOA...no reason why we won't. We'll lose at the most 1-2 matches in the earlier stages...thats been our trademark. But we'll win for sure.

Hey guys, this just crossed my mind. The finals are to be held in Mumbai. What if the peace landers by soem stroke of luck qualify for the finals? Will Mumbai's remote controlling octogenarian tiger oblige?

I think there should media hype and Debate on thsi in Public, when such things are not discussed there is a real threat of Pakis winning like 2009 T20 world Cup. But when there is proper Media Hype, there is good chance of them failing to Deliver.

So please lets have the contraversy and and Paki mental Mast******** and finally we can ensure that the threat of Paki progress beyond the Quater finals is wiped out.

Ha! Dileep Premchandran of cricinfo now praises Ganguly. Earlier Sambit bal did the same. Soon I expect it will be that Pannikar from rediff :). They were all anti-Ganguly and worse chappell bhakts.

Now, we have former gangsters playing cricket in America.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12382224
Against the odds, the team flourished. Known as formally as the Compton Cricket Club - or informally as the Homies and the Popz - it has toured England three times and has partnered with a number of Australian charities for their exhibition tour Down Under.
Who knows, maybe we'll see an American team in a future world cup.

Is the match being played in BD? if so, we need to be very wary of them. The slow and low wickets coupled with the BD bowling attack comprising a few good left arm orthodox spinners can render our power hitters ineffective.

I think Indian team will be slow to warm up in the earlier stages. But its a good sign: the knockout stages should be our peak form... SRT, sehwag and Yuvi are not having a good run (the first has not played much) getting a few under the belt in the league stage should maybe help them.

Dalladeshis are pumped up... they recently thrashed full strength NZ at home ...we need to be wary.
