What kind of a special operation purpose do we gonna use this C-130? in order to conduct special operations, you need formidable political leadership willing to take sturdy decision. Just few days back in Orissa, Engineer was abducated by Maoist, Govt of Orissa meakly surrendered itself to the demands of Maoist to bring abducted from their captivity. We should have shown Maoist by strictly denying to Maoist demands and rather must have strike their base to rescue abducted engineer.

Transport Hafiz Saeed to a tumultous welcome in Srinagar?
If we are going to discuss iffy political questions - I have a lot of answers. But I suspect this is the wrong forum. If you would like to shift the discussion to the "Why India stands no chance and dhoti shivering is the need of the hour" thread I would be happy to continue the debate on there

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
Here is a link https://picasaweb.google.com/1133537813 ... directlink to 6 pictures of an unidentified TATA mil vehicle. I chanced upon this vehicle at the WAKAD - Pune bypass interchange an hour ago. The vehicle was being towed by a TATA 1210 recovery.
The whole kit was parked and the drivers and crew were having lunch under the shade of a tree. I zipped past and did a almost 10 km round trip to find a break in the road divider to return to the spot.
Interestingly, the vehicle has a Pune temp, rego but sports a full camo scheme.
The vehicle has an "ON TEST" sign, looks like a troop carrier of some sort with rectangular windows and appears to have seen some heavy duty use/testing.
The tire tread looks pretty worn out. The front of the vehicle https://picasaweb.google.com/1133537813 ... 1186704786 looks a bit battered and some corrosion https://picasaweb.google.com/1133537813 ... 1607790290 is evident..
Since, the vehicle was being towed dead I assume it was no longer capable of producing its own power but at some stage it did going by the black marks on the bonnet near the exhaust.
Can anyone ID this vehicle?

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
I was tempted to say licensed RG-33 derivative. but BAE is with Mahindra.
this vehicle certainly has south african heritage . but then so do all MRAPs at the end of the day.
For a second I thought - the Paramount group. But those guys had tied up with Ashok Leyland when I checked at Defexpo 2010.
I would say - Tata unique internal development with consultancy support.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
It looks pretty well used. Wonder where it was used and whether it sustained any attacks. When was this vehicle ordered?
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
great job rahul
I don;t think it was under attack because you would see a very different pattern
I think it got brutalised in one of the Army's testing procedures.
Hopefully it did well - although after seeing other pictures of test vehicles and no sign of service - who knows
am glad it has 3 doors for exit.
I hate single entry vehicles - even for SDREs

@rahulm
When I saw this vehicle at Chandani Chowk it was running on it's own engine.

Hiten-ji - this is certainly "a retired IAF pilot", and one who is well-known to IAF watchers - looks like a compilation by Air Marshal Subhash Bhojwani, a former AOC-in-C, no less. He has been a good friend to BR - he has provided the content for several pages, including http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/Histo ... jwani.html and some others, and has provided photos, documents and artefacts for the IAF site to put up.
Mods - and especially you there, Jagan Garu - this looks to me like an absolutely priceless collection - I just started browsing, and there are stories upon stories about virtually every second person in some of those albums! And there are at least a few people in some of these pics whose names I know, but whose pictures I have never seen. Can we back-up or mirror these pictures, in some way?
Apologies to mods; I know comment and discussion is discouraged in this thread, but I thought this collection was too valuable to let pass.
Regards

Nope, it was part of a airshow conducted here in Mumbai off a certain beach some 4-5 years ago. It was just after the first 777 was delivered to India. Just a display.Hiten wrote:what are they doing here? anti-hijacking drill??

Shoulda known you'd have had them ... ... How did I miss the update last year, I'm usually fairly religious about checking the IAF page updates - as you may have realized!!
Ah well, glad they're there ... And yes, that one of Rafiqui's aircraft tail is so priceless, on so many levels.
Thanks for keeping custody, as always ... Back to lurk mode, until next time!! Take care,
Sree

While the Mahindra Jeep was the more used vehicle for RCL, Jongas too were used. Have seen many examples myself.

An interceptor missile is launched from a test site at Chandipur, in Orissa. Defence ministry said that it has successfully shot down a missile in a test of a home grown missile interception system.
Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
I do remember that the BN guys did not like the RCL or the RCL on a jeep. It was a difficult weapon to use and the Jeep needed to have all screws tightened after RCL firing.....rohitvats wrote:While the Mahindra Jeep was the more used vehicle for RCL, Jongas too were used.
