O'brein has the build of shane watson/cameron white - big, clean hitting baseball slugger type guy.

^^^ He's more of the Jesse Ryder class. White and Watson are both well built yes, but lean. This one's a little stout.

I read some of the posts about how the pitch is 350+ or 370+ ityadi. My simple mind is frozen and cannot understand how pitches can be prepared to that clarity. Bowling vs Batting pitches? Yeah, that I can understand. I also understand it is a wide spectrum, pitches where ball comes to the bat nicely, has good bounce and pitches start to turn - well those were 5 day marathon matches. I can understand the day vs night conditions, early morning vs late afternoon conditions ityadi too.

I love to know how they make a 370 or a 350 run batting pitch vs say a good batting pitch.

Here is my simple observation; which is very obvious that all cricketing fans would have observed and analysts must have stated it million times and it revolves around the concept of "mindset". Simple, matter over. During the 6 days of cricket (5+1 rest day) the mindset was different; that began to change with ODI, running between the wickets improve a lot; cheekier singles and doubles were taken that batsment did not attempt during the test matches. Once the ODIs crossed the tipping point, the ODI mindset made its inroads to test match as well. Faster cricket evolved, with changing rules and format. 4s and 6s that were not attempted in the earlier ODIs were attempted in the later versions of ODIs and 20x20 formats.

I remember the days when in the first 10 overs 40 runs were scored and the fans thought that was really good cricket. Sometimes when India scored 18 or 25 runs, we glumly resigned to runs around 225. 240+ solid scores.

It is my thought that there is no 350+ or 370+ pitches. Just a good batting pitch. Coupled with good bats, arm strength and change in mindset that makes these kinds of score possible. Yea, shoddy bowling will always help.

Willing to be educated.

You are right about mindsets. My point is simple too. If we had this same pitch in the early 90s a 220 score would be challenging under lights...this would have changed to 270 in early 2000s but with a post-t20 mindset now even 340 may not be a challenge. Notice how there have been only 3 maiden overs in the 2 matches in Bangalore so far, 2 of them in the Indian innings.

Brilliant run out by Prior. Brien's brain miscalculated the second run.

Ha ha ha...
England were over the top for their 'legendary' run chase against India at this very ground a couple of days ago. Now their almost similar score was chased down in similar fashion but by Ireland. I am loving it. Nasser Hussain has made an a$$ of himself in commentary box as well with weird and emotional words.

What we are like onlee 2.x million desis out here. Do you think we have that much clout, hain ji? If we had that much clout, we should get at least one match played in NJ or Bay area :-) India vs Australia would surely get some crowd.

Nothing spectacular MahulR. Nasser Hussein was going on and on with his one sided commentary like how Obrien may not play another innings like this. In England Vs India match when Strauss and Bell were batting around 38 or 39th over Gavaskar suggested they should take the power play then when set batsmen were at the crease as it would be difficult for new batsmen to use it later on. Nasser jumped in and said India are making mistakes right now so don't do anything silly. Later on England batting crashed in the PP just as Sunny said. Something similar happened in this match also. His judgement of the game is going wrong because of emotions. JMT onlee.

Why do we continue to host World Cups in partnershup with Terroristan (who was kicked out later), and Bhooka-nanga-desh and others? Can't we host one ourselves just in India?
I hope the next time we bid, we just bid by ourselves or let someone else have it.

The Irish will become the next test playing nation hah. Skewing the asian bloc voting again. While in the short term, they may side with bcci, eventually skin color will dominate. Time to cultivate Nepal and Maldives.

Bottom line is that we don't need to play "Bowlers" against Ireland.

1. If Bat first then score 450 runs. Sehwag to score 200 runs before 15th over.
2. If Bat second then dismiss then below 250 through crafty spin, run outs, and bowling on the on side with all fielders on the on side.

Banglore groundmen have prepared a GLASS PITCH with no grass, even bounce and no use for spinners at all. Even Minnows are chasing the world records and winning.

Chankian geo-politics everywhere

So then, more than Malaysia and Nepal, the Asian country that comes closest to Ireland is Afghanistan. By your line of thinking, we should help them build cricket stadia in Jalalabad and then convince them to base our Mi-35s there so we can take out match fixing pakis whenever matches are held in peshawar and also threaten the ISAF Brits if the ECB/CA acts funny. Lets make the white skinned bloc irrelevant.
