Valid point. The US has paid ransom money to get the release of a diplomat assuming that man actually had diplomatic status. That puts Pakistan in the position that Iran was in under the Carter admin. Pakistan buckled quickly. I thought he would be milked much longer.

To me that means the US put pressure on the army. Nothing this dramatic happens without army consent. Shabaz Sharif is the scapegoat. But the army still buckles under US pressure. That means something.

If the Sharifs pay any price for this, (we all know what that is in pureland) they have themselves to blame. By arresting Davis and not letting him go quietly on Day 1, they thought perhaps they can score some point amongst the beards over PPP, but now they are caught in a jam...

Does anyone believe that the US has/will actually paid/pay the "Blood Money" to the 2 families ? IMHO the TSPA generals are the ones who received the dollars and were tasked with convincing the families. The actual "Blood money" reaching the families will probably be considerably less than the figures being circulated now.

Paki source (Tribune.com.pk) prints:
LAHORE: Initial media reports surrounding the release of Raymond Davis suggest that the families of the victims killed in the Lahore shooting have left the country on a second plane. Their neighbours say they haven’t seen the families in two days and that their homes are empty and locked.
Sources say an aircraft carrying more than 10 people left Lahore airport and is headed to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. They also say the families have been given Green Cards and homes in New York state and Washington DC.

the families could never stay in Pak after taking a payout . the local criminals would make a line on their door demanding a share. fortunately free GC process is easy and state dept probably keeps a realtor and some homes ready to accomodate defectors .... so it all came together. their community contacts in NYC/DC will help them get jobs and start business.

The latest version of the Canadian vija?

http://www.dawn.com/2011/03/12/us-embas ... mabad.html
ISLAMABAD: A US embassy vehicle on Saturday hit a motorcyclist in the capital city, leaving him critically injured.
...................................
Police arrested the driver named Carlos, an official of the US embassy, and started investigation.
More green cards for everyone, onlee.

Edit: And I have reached my 72 with this post; very appropriate.

Scenario 1

What if the family members were bumped off and the money pocketed by the Jernails ?

Scenario 2

What if Khan did not pay any money at all and the jernails bumped off the family members and claimed that they are off to US to save their H&D /

The US can't officially say they paid blood money. So the TSPA pays the victims' families, and claims it along with administrative expenses(Shipping & handling extra) from the US

Badmash could have easily gone to Chest specialist Groper Gilli to get his heaviness investigated. The loin cloth of Pakjab should not have left behind his bhaijaan to face the Raymond Davis concert

I am inclined to believe Hilarious Clinton when she says that no money was paid, a few taps here and there being turned off must have driven the message to the Pakroaches.

Now that a precedent has been set, how long before the Pakroaches start pushing their kids on the path of US consulate vehicles to claim blood money

I think IMF will loosen the purse strings now. They were squeezing the Paki balls so hard to come up with $6B in one week. Pukes had no choice other than to release him. Pukes are getting thoroughly being manhandled by the Chicoms and west. If you are a beggar, you don't have many choices.

Knowing the lows TSPA and ISI can dowski, me think ISI kidnapped the families of the victims and TSPA murdered them in the cold blood before they told the court that Massa paid the blood money and have the jihadi judge release RD.

Quite possible

Moreover, Ayesha, the sister of Shumaila Kanwal, the wife of victim Faheem Ahmed, said “we are not aware of any such settlement and we did not opt for any…we want justice.”

“They confined us in the jail for four hours and did not allow us to take part in the court proceedings. We were not allowed to leave the prison,” one of the lawyers, Asad Manzoor Butt, told AFP.
We want justice too and preferably a cut in the cockroach blood money recieved
