Amazing stats for NZ..this is 6th Semi in world-cup. They continue raising their game against better opponents.

Irony there. Obviously if this the 6th time they are in SF, they haven't raised their game enough to win any WC. Have they been in any finals?

Somehow would be more appropriate for the GUBO pics if a Paki was in that...Anyways, Wednesday should make that dream come true too!!

getting into 6 semis for a country with population less than any of our cities is itself incredible. on top of that they dominate rugby and play football WC too.

On the subject of sledging, the SDREs really don't hold back these days and do not take a step back. Against the white Pacquis, Watson tried to have a throw at GG though he was in the crease and guess the ball slipped from Watson's hand, rolled slowly and barely touched GG. GG nearly went ballistic and replied with a few pleasantries ( which weren't tough to decipher on screen)!! What a change from the 90s!!

Expect the Paki game to have words of all hues ruling the airwaves around the stadium...

Somedays back, during the initial part of the league stage, we were very keen to see India on top of the group so that we can play NZ in quarterfinal.

Yeah. They were the only unbeaten team in the football WC last year. Great country, lovely people. Great memories of ChCh and Queenstown :)

I continue to hope MSD loses the toss and fields first. Better to use the greatest batting firepower ever, in the history of the game, to chase down targets rather than expose our shaky bowling later on.

Nope. We're weird Patels, 101% Jain onlee, while 99% of Patels are Hindu / Vaishnav.

^ Mohali pitch favors the pacemen for initial 5-6 overs after that it's a batting track for unlike the Chennai and Ahmadabad track the bounce would be true. Look at the average score on the ground. Point being our part timers and spinners would be tested. I hope the groundsmen allow the pitch to bake in the hot sun and remove all the grass.

Ah, the naive Injun love for NZ, as it keeps repeating time and again. As I said N times before, one has to read more about the evolution of NZ cricket before showering lovefests that are unwarranted and undeserved. And one has to have heard the stuff that the racist politicians there shower for Injuns of any nationality, whether Fijian, Malaysian, Indian or Guyanese, before showering unequal love on their cricketers. The crikkitirs are no ambassadors for what goes on in NZ politics and machinations. Of all the people who have been worst to India in commonwealth matters, the Kiwis top the assies in every sense -- and that comes from my reading of commonwealth history and India choosing to remain inside the CW fold after 47 -- there are reams and reams of papers and books that have been written, I posted many in many different threads myself. Why even during and before the CWG in Dilli, just like a few months back, we had Kiwi sports morons running around like headless chickens making random statements this and that. Check out for what all Mike Stanley, NZOC chairman yakked about. Mike Stanley and Perry Crosswhite (Aus OC chairman) were such pitas that if you had followed anything with 1/2 seriousness, you would nt forget em for the rest of your lives. Boss, this forum really has no short-term memory. Seriously, that should be an award.

And whether you like it or not, sports is just another manifestation of soft and hard power. As I wrote to you before the illegal bust-up on this very thread some weeks back, it is par for the course for folks of this very forum to get superdupar jingoistic on mil matters, but when it comes to geopol matters, folks tend to suffer from a karmic confusion complex. Either you are jingoistic in a totalitarian sense or not, you cant choose half-baked naive presumptions of "it is a game onlee" that are divorced from geopolitics and then choose to bat around glibly in an unintelligent way. Point being, cricket is not just a game, it is a way of life. Cricket has little to do with appeasing the adolescent love streak of kids who are yet to join the adult club, it is more tied to economics, geopolitics and is both a benchmark as well as a visible sign of India's rise from unrivalled mediocrity to unabashed power posturing. And in this grand chessboard, the Kiwis are no funny loveables, neither their cricketers, nor their politicians and policy-makers. Just because people choose not to educate themselves about history does nt mean their blind love for one party over another deserves either the merit it seems to ask for or the opprobrium such opinions call for.

And as regards playing football WC, they just qualified for the 2010 event. That does nt speak much of a vaunted footballing history. Even India was in the bronze playoff in 56, melbourne. WHat does it have to do with realpolitik or even as a side point in a debate?? I love the haka, stopover N times in Auckland every year, love the possum winter stuff, etc. Why do these matter, at all? You love someone without considering everything else that goes on around, and that is normal? As I wrote to you, write on the mil forum that I love the paki armed forces because they also die for their country, how noble such behavior is etc. Lets see how the jingoists of this forum will get their moustaches ringing. Say the same on the crikkit dhaaga, and it is meant to be a side remark that is not to be questioned. Let me put it in a way that is perhaps Bush-like: screw the world, period. No love lost for anyone.

Instead of Munna, Dhoni should give me a break. I can bowl off-spin, leg spin and medium fast. I am good at out swing. I can cut, drive, flick and steal quick singles. :P

I meant to say that it was good that SA topped and then choked in QF. Smith was hellbent on getting the chokers tag away but it seems that it will hound them till 2015

Choking is their speciality. So,the opposition does not matter.
