I see a huge business opportunity for some enterprising desis to launch a webcast radio-commentary station online.

Am sure there'll be enough listeners from all over the world esp during WC matches who can just listen to streaming commentary while going about work.

Am told it doesn't even take much in terms of equipment required etc for this now. And the toxic waste that is commentary by Manjrekar, shastri etc also hugely helps matters.

Dont forget how dilshan & sanga instructed randhiv to bowl a no-ball to sehwag when he was on 99.
Sanga took responsibility for a no-ball...It was a big no ball & no way any bowler would step out that far.

BTW, I don't remember which year this match was held R.O.W XI v/s M.C.C XI
But, Gawd was in ominous form (for the opposition) and he also demolished quickies like McGrath and Allan Donald all over the park.

There is one short arm pull shot he made to McGrath which was an absolute joy to watch....
Darn, what am I gonna do when Gawd retires.....how old is his son? does he play any cricket?

SL is a mixed bag with sanga, Dilshan, Angelo Mathews (based on their on field behavior and comments) while Jayasuriya and Murali may be different based on what I have read of them being good friends with Sachin, Bhajji & Kumble. Jayasuriya after the WC victory in 1996, came on a pilgrimage to various Indian places including Tirupathi, Puttaparthi and was very humble in his interviews. Perhaps Marten may have some feedback on them Slinga/Jayasuriya, Dilhara etc from the Mumbai Indian camps.

Just saw an interview on HT with Arjuna Ranatunga who rates Mahela a better captain than Sanga but he was not supported by Vass, Murali etc during his first tenure where they did not like his appointment. Arjuna said that it will be tough for SL if they make it to Mumbai as they have not been tested much outside of Colombo in this world cup and is worried about their middle order. He is also not very fond of Angelo Mathews who he feels is talented but has been hyped by the board and not let him come through the hard grind.

I think the Eng team just looked jaded and it appeared to me that they just wanted to get done with the game and fly back to London. Poor guys, the conditions just got to them. Next WC is held in the subcontinent, it must be held during the months of Dec/Jan.

The australian summer isnt a lot different in terms of temperature, so its not new or anything. However a really long season of continuous cricket does take its toll. No excuses though.

Oh yes. They got beaten fair and square. No excuses at all. Especially given that the CWC was on the horizon they didnt show any planning in rotation and rest at all. They deserve it to the fullest for taking the oz series more importantly than the world cup.

Yes, losing to India was the knockout blow, but had Australia found a way to beat Pakistan they would not have ended up facing India in Ahmedabad in a knockout quarter-final. Instead, they would have played a much more winnable match against West Indies in Dhaka. And given that Pakistan had beaten Australia only once in their past 10 encounters leading in to the final group match, it was a costly slip for Ponting's men.

Apart from likes of Kumble, Murali and Bhajji the only other spinner that has had significant influence in the modern game is Vettori, the chap has a nice clean old school side on action and gets nice drift and purchase of the track. Swann will have to play for at least next 3-4 years and bag another couple of hundred wickets to join the same league.

I wonder what is with the english team and gym training? most of them seem to put in lot of strength training and are musclebound with the standout being Bresnan. dont see other teams except oddballs like Symo doing all those dragging weight stuff, boxing etc. the ideal frame is probably like that of virat kohli or ross taylor - lean and fit and strong enough but not dragging around excess muscle.
