Re: The Cricket Thread
Dhoni McHD is doing the same what he did against Eng; defensive fielding. We need long on and long off in for Bhajji for initial few overs see how batsman play and try to choke the runs.
Re: The Cricket Thread
my prediction : pakistan win by 9 wkts with 2 overs to spare. this will not be a match, this will be a slaughter. we needed 300 odd to even mount a challenge with our deliberately defanged bowling attack on this pitch.

Isn't he right though? and folks, lets go easy on these abuses etc. Why bring down the forum standards just because you are tense..negi wrote:SM M@drchd "Pakis have even flatter picthes in Pak still they have better bowlers"

Re: The Cricket Thread
Bhaggi has effectively become a wicketless containing bowler. It's been ages since we saw him breaking any crucial partnership.
Re: The Cricket Thread
if we get 5 by 150 there is a slim chance. anyways bye for now - Op Black Label h-hour is here.
Re: The Cricket Thread
SM has always felt that fate rubbed him the other way. After Gavaskar he felt that he was the most technically sound Batsmen and should have the mantle of the batting backbone in TI. but fate had other plans and the Aus tour of 1991-2 exposed him completely. after that he was just a shadow of tendulkar...

Re: The Cricket Thread
Munna is bowling well. If there is God we need a wicket NOW !
Re: The Cricket Thread
The last over was good. Maiden. He brought some respectability to his numbers. At this stage we need wickets. That is what matters.negi wrote:^ See his overall figures. And how many times batsmen played and missed.

When Ishant, Sree & RP started they were having good pace in range of 138-145.archan wrote:Isn't he right though? and folks, lets go easy on these abuses etc. Why bring down the forum standards just because you are tense..negi wrote:SM M@drchd "Pakis have even flatter picthes in Pak still they have better bowlers"
There downfall started when they got "Coached".

This match is a chanakian gift by MMS as part of "confience building" measure with neighbor with whom MMS shares a common destiny.SwamyG wrote:What do you mean by that?Rahul M wrote:my prediction : pakistan win by 9 wkts with 2 overs to spare. this will not be a match, this will be a slaughter. we needed 300 odd to even mount a challenge with our deliberately defanged bowling attack on this pitch.

Re: The Cricket Thread
^ No people who have played the game in college and Uty would know , the actual reason is the pitches at zonal, regional and even national level matches literally resemble moon's surface. One cannot become a fast bowler at 23-25 after coming to the national side, it's during the formative years he needs at least a flat pitch (if not a green one) to make some mark. I have played the game at Uty level and we know even part time spinners used to get more wickets than the frontline opening medium pacers for the pitch used to turn 'square' and obviously batsmen could hardly get any runs if they did not middle it . At that level most of the runs are conceded in form of extras and edges to third man or fine leg (mostly conceded by fast bowlers). What we need is junior tournaments to be organized on mats where the ball zips through and yet there is enough traction for the spinners.
And btw Bakis are so poor at junior level they play with tennis balls with tapes (it does not swing much leave alone spin) which actually works out well for them later .

Negi: I said the following few hours ago. So I am not exactly anti-Munaf
Just that, that particular ball was bowled badly

SwamyG wrote:
For some reason I believe Munaf is going to bowl very well, like Singha sahib says he is a Yoda, and this situation calls for some calm and collected bowling.

Ravi Shaz has some thing with him. Just when he says something positive..something negative happens.. I dont understand the metaphysics part but is certainly weird.

Re: The Cricket Thread
It is much better to watch TI bowl second, since at least can bash up the SDRE bowlers for under-performing each time.
Re: The Cricket Thread
three important wickets for India will be that of Younis, Misbah and Afridi. Hope we get at least the first two before they reach 130-40.

While I am no MMS lover. How does this help India or MMS? It is Pakistan that is the rogue state spreading terror; and losing to them how would that build confidence?Vipin_Upadhyay wrote: This match is a chanakian gift by MMS as part of "confience building" measure with neighbor with whom MMS shares a common destiny.

Rahulji to add to the frayed tempers here, maybe you should have some fun dishing out warnings.

frankly, the whole approach today looks fishy to me. not one batsman tried to hit out after viru and SRT, this odd team selection, now this defensive field setting. I won't be surprised if some genius WKK politician convinced himself that going easy on pak on the field today would be a great aman ki tamasha move and sent a msg ordering so to the team.
(yeah yeah I know it's not true. but I can't find any cricketing sense in today's decisions and approach)
Re: The Cricket Thread
We need Younis's wicket.

Re: The Cricket Thread
On TV, the real Yuvraj and the PM's are not being shown at all. Maybe a CHankian ploy to make them visible when the end is near

Re: The Cricket Thread
So MSD has hinged his future as kaptain of Indian team in Nehra's hand. If India loses today and Nehra has even itsy-bitsy part in it, MSD is burnt for good. Foolish man or confident captain, We will know in couple of hours l!!!

Re: The Cricket Thread
M$D at start of world-cup said he wanted to win the cup for SRT. Guess he chanted SRT name for the sake of it. His real dream is to win for Agent Nehra & Chawla.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Nehra sucks and sucks hard; I mean how can one continue to bowl on leg stump lime ball after ball. The only one he bowled outside off was a dot ball.
Re: The Cricket Thread
One more wicket needed. India will lose onlee
