Let's all start praising Porkistan for their help and perhaps even direct involvement in killing OBL. We can expect some more fireworks in Porkiland

you know you need to give credit to Nidhi Razdan of NDTV of repeating it especially to pukes that he was found near their capital in their military academy.

The US helos were probably based at Chaklala Airbase in Islamabad.
The US does have helos based there to protect / evacuate the US embassy there.
The distance is just 60 Kms from Chaklala to Abbottabad. And then 250 Kms to Jalalabad for refueling and onto Bagram.

The helo that crashed, was possibly an Apache gunship to provide goonda aircover.

The Pakistan Military WAS NOT INFORMED.

The gloves have truly come off after Ray Davis case. That was the last straw.

Expect Ombaba to cancel his TSP trip at last moment as its too risky.

The operation took place just after midnight yesterday local time. Around 12:30 AM today.

Boy India's media is really on the offensive. Everyone is saying that Pakistan caught red handed etc etc.

Gen Michael Hayden, the former director of the CIA, just made it clear on fox news that this was a completely American operation.

No I think Obama will 400% go to Islamabad.
They will evacuate the city if needs be. But a US president will go there.
And I can bet will thank the Pakistanis too.

Apologies if already posted.

OBL met his fortune teller and asked about the future. Fortune teller says
it doesn't look to good. It appears you are going to die! "Die, when?"
queries OBL, "It an American public holiday" says the fortune teller.

"Which American public holiday" asks OBL, fortune teller responds, "any
day you die will be an American public holiday!"

Terrorists find sanctuary in Pak: Chidambaram
New Delhi: Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday sought Pakistan's cooperation in arresting the people involved in the 26/11 attacks, following the news of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden's killing by the US in Pakistan.

In his statement, Chidambaram said, "We take note with grave concern that part of the statement in which President Obama said that the fire fight in which Osama Bin Laden was killed took place in Abbotabad 'deep inside Pakistan'. This fact underlines our concern that terrorists belonging to different organisations find sanctuary in Pakistan."

"We once again call upon the Government of Pakistan to arrest the persons whose names have been handed over to the Interior Minister of Pakistan as well as provide voice samples of certain persons who are suspected to be among the controllers and handlers of the terrorists," he said.

Terrorists find sanctuary in Pak: Chidambaram

Here is the full text of the statement issued by Chidambaram on Osama's death:

Earlier today the United States Government informed the Government of India that Osama Bin Laden had been killed by security forces somewhere "deep inside Pakistan." After the September 11, 2001 terror attack, the US had reason to seek Osama Bin Laden and bring him and his accomplices to justice.

We take note with grave concern that part of the statement in which President Obama said that the fire fight in which Osama Bin Laden was killed took place in Abbotabad "deep inside Pakistan". This fact underlines our concern that terrorists belonging to different organisations find sanctuary in Pakistan. We believe that the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack, including the controllers and handlers of the terrorists who actually carried out the attack, continue to be sheltered in Pakistan. We once again call upon the Government of Pakistan to arrest the persons whose names have been handed over to the Interior Minister of Pakistan as well as provide voice samples of certain persons who are suspected to be among the controllers and handlers of the terrorists.

ok something is definitely up!
i called my cousin who lives in abotabad and he said there was gunfight between two helicopters and then there was blast and one fell. he says some people are saying that maybe the other helicopter was indian. army doesnt do all this cordoning and stuff if one of their helicopters crash. something is definitely happening. maybe it was the indian helicopter that fell and army is investigating. as per news copter crashed in empty plot. lets see what it turns out to be. maybe people are making stories. but definitely something happened for army to act like this.
If they are calling the other helicopter "indian", there's indication that there was a gunfight between the two helicopters.
GD Link this to your theory.

Looks plausible.

I suspect though, that the US has had him on their crosshairs several times in the past.
But the decision to take him out dead was not made.

I remember a CIA guy talking on some TV program saying that if DC wanted OBL's head, they had better send an Airconditioned box to them. Suggesting that the CIA monitored him and was aware from time to time of his approximate location.

I hope we know more someday.

But all in all Wonderful news - Way to go USA.

NBC uses the words "heavily fortified compound". Clearly all implications are that Pakistan shielded him. They just can't say it openly as yet. They are probably waiting to get clear instructions from the Administration.

NBC reporting that Pakistan is going to use this news positively. That is going to be the official Pakistani line.

Osama and Pakistan in the same sentence in almost every headline. And most have the loo, isloo in it too. I am loving it.

Pakis goose is cooked.

The only down-side I can see is Osama's going to be a martyr. More coverage needs to be given to the opulence of the palatial mansion he's living in, spawing progeny enjoying the climes of hilly abottabad, while the faithfull slug it out in the flea infested backstreets of dar-ul-harb.

You have a point there. Many here on BRF seemed to convey the feeling that India's rejection of khan aircraft was rock-bottom for USA and that the only way for USA was up!

Pakis are in huge trouble now. They are doomed if they take credit for his death and they doomed if they don't! There must have been quite a few heartattacks in Pindi GHQ today! MSNBC is reiterating that Pakistanis were NOT informed until the end of the operation.

What type of helicopters were used by US

MH-60 - Probably not, the distance between Jalalabad in Afgan to Abbottabad is more than 250 KM and most of cruising time is Pakistan, even if not radars, at least PA infantry man would differentiate sound of rotor in deep paki hinterland. Regarding high flying, pakis are using combination of European, Chinese and American radars due to its deep mistrust of US, so high flying and frying of electronics and confusing the radars may be out of question.

The helis should fly low, so not to attract radars. So the helis used by US Navy seals must be those that are found common in PA and PAF. I am discounting Cobras because of their range and ferrying capacity.

Mi-17- Probably may be, because they have been used by PA too. Probably US has masked IFF to mimic of PA and they went unnoticed till Abbottabad. (Remember a paki posting in internet seeing tanks and loud sounds). Now, probably the scenario unfolded was like this. Pakis thought that Indians are conducting a mil op and ordered their mil to counter it that is why the tanks and when Uncle realized this, they have asked the paki punks to back off and its a CIA op and warned not to repeat Davis Raymond thing on them and they will face "bombing to stone age scenario and warned off USS nuclear subs for any attack." Regarding heli down, for such operations, best of the equipment will be selected and western equipment is more reliable. Probably, PA had shot down the heli thinking of it an Indian one with AA gunfire or with an Anza and US is also covering up the loss of heli and probably 5-6 navy seals covering the op from heli. Probably details will emerge later. JMT.

Who knew and when and how much?

Did all Corps Commanders know? Or only Kahanee and Basha?
Panetta meeting with Basha and Basha going early now makes more sense.
