Looks like the Islamic concept of "Taqiyya", after being massively effective against the Americans for so long, is getting less effective now.

I would not, however, put it past the Paki to invent new forms of deceptions and I would not put it past American stupidity to be decieved again by clever Paki Taqyiyya.

One needs an online "Taqiyya to English" Dictionary for the all utterances that come out of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: The judge who sentenced to death the killer of liberal Pakistani politician Salman Taseer on Tuesday failed to show up at work and may be transferred after his courtroom was ransacked, lawyers said.

Judge Pervez Ali Shah
on Saturday convicted police bodyguard Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri over the January 4 assassination that exposed huge faultlines in Pakistan.

Qadri said he killed Taseer over the politician’s opposition to blasphemy laws which sentence to death those convicted of defaming the Prophet Mohammed.

Qadri’s actions made him a hero in the eyes of religious extremists.

On Monday, dozens of furious lawyers ransacked Shah’s courtroom, smashing windows to protest against the judgement.
The Judge may be transferred to meet his 72. looks like a question a day or two.

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan refuses to co-operate in the Afghan investigation into the assassination of the former President of Afghanistan, Burhanuddin Rabbani.

Mohammad Yasin Zia, deputy head of Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security :

"Today we received a message from the embassy of Pakistan saying that since this issue has arisen in media, we cannot co-operate and we apologize for that,"

Read it all in an AFP generated article in the Vancouver Sun:

History is replete with cases where "arrogance" is the final sign before a complete destruction of an empire. Pakistan is showing these classic final signs in its dealings with neighbors, friends and enemies alike. Many great nations suffered the ignominy of a collapse. Consider USSR,erstwhile Germany and Japan itself, In the last days of their "empire" they showed extraordinary arrogance bordering insanity which resulted in a dramatic collapse. All the above three were militaristic to threaten friends and neighbors alike, arrogant to commit genocide of the weak and helpless.
Pakistan is not even an "empire" but if empires can collapse what to say about an a$$ licking scum nation like Pakistan?

Unkil still doesn't know what he is dealing with. It is foolish to ask whether TSP is with US or Taliban when taliban is only an offshoot of TSPian ideology. Unkil is asking the head of a snake are you with me or your tail.

Video of CNN's Erin Burnett interviewing Sec. Panetta yesterday:

Note the direct blunt question, to which Sec. Panetta hesitates a bit, before answering "I dunno that for a fact". Anybody else referenced like this other than a Paki intel chief, and you would expect the answer to be "an absolute total resounding no." But Panetta knows, and is itching to say, that Pasha is scum.
Erin: .... the Pakistani intelligence agency, the ISI, is supporting the Haqqani network. Obviously that network is responsible for attacks on Americans and coalition forces. Sources have told CNN that this cooperation with terrorists could go all the way to the top of ISI. Does it?

Sec. Panetta: Um…I dunno that for a fact, but I do know that…..

And so in the land of the pure, the distillation is on, from 45% proof to 100%!
All Shi'ites are worthy of killing. We will rid Pakistan of unclean people. Pakistan means land of the pure and the Shi'ites have no right to live in this country. We have the edict and signatures of revered scholars, declaring Shi'ites infidels. Just as our fighters have waged a successful jihad against the Shi'ite Hazaras in Afghanistan, our mission in Pakistan is the abolition of this impure sect and its followers from every city, every village and every nook and corner of Pakistan.

Like in the past, our successful jihad against the Hazaras in Pakistan and, in particular, in Quetta, is ongoing and will continue in the future. We will make Pakistan the graveyard of the Shi'ite Hazaras and their houses will be destroyed by bombs and suicide bombers. We will only rest when we will be able to fly the flag of true Islam on this land of the pure. Jihad against the Shi'ite Hazaras has now become our duty.

What the Americans don't realize is that the Pakistani military brass knew of the plan for 9/11 and how it would be implemented. They gave the green light and approved of it. What is happening today is the same type of behavior from the Pakistani military that can't be overlooked now because the Pakis are directly killing American soldiers.

A nation of 335 million?
Infestation
Kaffir Zu beida Musta fa
We have already been observing a World Population Day in July since 1989. The Pakistan government dutifully falls in line to display its commitment and holds seminars and conferences which mean little as our population continues to grow at the rate of 2.2 per cent (UNFPA estimates). It is said we shall be a nation of 335 million in the year 2050.
Regrettably, few feel any concern about the underlying issues that need to be identified and addressed. Thus the conference last week expended a lot of oral energy on the theme, ‘Live your life, know your rights, learn about contraception’. The emphasis was on the need to create awareness. Probably none of the speakers had read up the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (PDHS) of 2006-07 (the last to be conducted) which clearly stated, “Nearly all Pakistani women knew of at least one method of contraception.”But what many women need is knowledge of where to obtain the contraceptives. Given the immobility of a large number of women, their newfound knowledge of contraception can be unproductive. Small wonder the PDHS speaks of a large unmet need — that is women who want to plan their families but can’t because of non-availability of contraceptives (at least 36 per cent by UNFPA calculations).

China to keep Pakistan embrace at arm’s length
Dekh Ke Fuddu Paki, Subb ko Awat Hassi
BEIJING: Pakistan, facing a crisis with the United States, has leaned closely to longtime partner China, offering its “all-weather friendship” with Beijing as an alternative to Washington.
But Pakistan will be disappointed if it hopes to replace American patronage with the same from China. While China does not welcome the US presence near its border, it wants stability on its western flank and believes an abrupt withdrawal of Washington’s support for Pakistan could imperil that.It also does not want to upset warming relations with India by getting mired in subcontinent security tension.Maintaining that delicate balance, China will continue supporting economic cooperation with Pakistan but go slow on defence cooperation. While outwardly all smiles and warm pledges of friendship, China will quietly keep things at arms length.“I think they see what’s going on in the US-Pakistan front at the moment as reason to tread very carefully,” said Andrew Small, a researcher at the German Marshall Fund think-tank in Brussels who studies China-Pakistan ties and often visits both countries.“They are taking extra care to make sure that what’s going on in the relationship is correctly understood, not reflecting any willingness to rush in or fill the gap or exploit differences.”Pakistan’s brittle relationship with the United States, its major donor, has turned openly rancorous. Washington accused Pakistan’s powerful ISI spy agency of directly backing the Afghan Taliban-allied Haqqani network and of providing support for a September 13 attack on the US mission in Kabul.Pakistan has angrily rejected the accusation and warned the United States that it risked losing an ally if it kept publicly criticizing them over militant groups.Meanwhile, as it often does in times of crisis, Pakistan has been trumpeting its ties with China. But Beijing appears much less interested in a bilateral defence accord, despite a report by Pakistan media that Islamabad had been secretly lobbying for such an agreement.
“I don’t think that’s the sort of space that the Chinese want to get into,” said Small of the German Marshall Fund. “I don’t see why they would suddenly want to be stuck with the liability of Pakistan, particularly vis-a-vis India, given the way Pakistan has behaved in a number of crisis situations.”In each of Pakistan’s wars with India, China has been fairly restrained, to the point of being almost neutral.Analysts say China is wary about tilting the relationship too much in favor of Pakistan, to avoid offending India, with which China wants to develop better economic ties.Annual two-way trade with India was worth $65.2 billion in 2010, compared with bilateral trade with Pakistan of $8.7 billion, according to Chinese statistics.Ultimately, Beijing has little to gain from a rift between Islamabad and Washington, experts say. US-Pakistan relations deteriorate, and the region falls into instability, China will not be able to shoulder the responsibility by itself and other regional actors will have a difficult time cooperating to restore stability,” said Hu Shisheng, an expert on South Asia at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations think-tank.
“The US still has to be responsible for the stability of this region.”

Pakistan would have been delighted to kick India out of Afghanistan and dominate Afghanistan via the Haqqanis, plus use the LeT against India... all in exchange for guaranteeing that there would be no more terrorist attacks out of Afghanistan against white people.

So why isn't this already the case? I have no doubt that the US would love to be able to do this. But why haven't they been able to?
RudraJi, interesting development since I wrote this with Karzai's visit and India Afgan partnership. Although, I am still not sure if its for real. Karzai made some noises about TSP being Afghan brothers. Yeah right.

But coming to your question, I don't know the answer for sure :-). Could be that the Paki pasand Uneven, Ignatius, Fair Bimbo type chutiyas in DC have won over those strategists who correctly believe that TSP is the evil that needs to be defeated. Perhpahs, they convinced the other side that the diabolical bargain is indeed the lowest cost, path of least resistance option to preserve US interests, and cut & run.

But there is one wild card. Remember, there is another strategic component that we should not forget. And that is US H&D. US would not like to leave behind the myth & impression that they were knocked out of Aganisthan like the Soviets. I don't know how they will handle this by cutting and running, but through CNN, Fox, BeeB etc, they can make night look like day, so who knows.

But here is the big picture. The Afghans hate TSP for its terrorist machinations. US knows that. TSP is the one sponsoring murderous thugs killing American troops. US knows that. And we all know how much US knows about the slaughter of Indians by TSP. In short, as I mention above, TSP is the evil abomination, terror central, and yet we see this disgusting attempt to appease TSP. To US, everyhting and anything India does or does not do is the equivalent of TSP's terror to achieve its aims: equal equal. I can't come up with any other rational explation to justify US appeasement of TSP and denigrating of India and Afghans.

Pakistan our twin brother, India a friend: Karzai
Afghan President Hamid Karzai sought to reassure Pakistan today about his country's new partnership deal signed with India, which will see New Delhi help train Afghan security forces.

"Pakistan is a twin brother, India is a great friend. The agreement that we signed yesterday with our friend will not affect our brother," Karzai told an audience in New Delhi.
"The signing of the strategic partnership with India is not directed against any country. It is not directed against any other entity. This is for Afghanistan to benefit from the strength of India," Karzai added.

New Delhi, fearful of the return of an Islamist regime in Kabul, has ploughed more than $2 billion of aid into Afghanistan to gain influence, helping fund highways and the new national parliament building.

Karzai stressed that the focus of his efforts in bringing peace to his war-torn country, where international forces are set to withdraw from 2014, would now be on talking to Pakistan.

He added, however, that engagement with Islamabad had "unfortunately not yet received the result that we want".

Relations between the two nations are severely strained after Karzai accused his neighbour of playing a "double-game" by covertly funding militant groups that carry out attacks in Afghanistan.

Afghans hand out satellite images of Taliban hideouts to Pak
Talking tough, Afghanistan has alleged Pakistan had advance knowledge of the plot to assassinate former President Burhanuddin Rabbani and said Islamabad was refusing to cooperate in investigations of the crime. Afghan officials have also said that they have handed over satellite images of houses of top leaders of the Taliban in the capital of Balochistan, Quetta, but Pakistani security forces were not taking action against them, New York Times reported.

"If Pakistan does not help in investigations, Afghanistan will appeal to the United Nations to get involved," the Times reported, quoting a senior Afghan official who goes by the single name Dr Zia.

The paper, quoting sources in the Afghan capital Kabul, said the assassin gained entry to Rabbani's home by claiming to be a peace emissary from the Quetta shura, the supreme council which runs Taliban.

The Afghan official said that the sophistication of the bomb hidden inside the assassin's turban pointed to a link with Pakistan.

He also said that video report of the confession of the suspected mastermind Hamidullah Akhundzadeh was also handed over to Pakistani authorities, who had dismissed it offhand.

Zia said, in his confession Akhundzadeh talks of meeting members of the Afghan peace council in Kabul and then returning to Quetta to brief Taliban leaders.

Later, he accompanied the bomber, a Pakistani named Esmatullah, on a bus trip back to Kabul.

The official said the suspect told them that Afghan authorities might have been close to the plot at one point, because they arrested two relatives who hosted him and the bomber

Haqqani network managed, trained, led by ISI: Afghanistan's national security advisor
After the United States even Afghanistan has accused Pakistani spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of having direct links with the Haqqani terror network.

Afghanistan's National Security Advisor (NSA) Dadfar R. Spanta told Headlines Today on Wednesday that the Haqqani network was led, managed and trained by the ISI.

Spanta alleged that Pakistan was actively engaged in organising terror attacks in Afghanistan.

"In Pakistan there are a few terror centres active against Afghanistan. Haqqani network is just one. In fact, Haqqani network and ISI are one and... same. It is a group managed, trained and led by ISI," the NSA said.

"Despite the positives of Pakistan, there are sanctuaries and some terror activities and networks that Pakistan is using against Afghanistan," he said.

Talking about Afghanistan's relation with India, Spanta said, "Strategic partnership between India and Afghanistan is a holistic partnership. More intelligence sharing... counter terrorism experience will be shared. India will provide for Afghanistan military training and its police personnel... Our collaboration is for the peace of this region."
Afghans are stepping it up for sure.

I would guess MMS and other folks in GoI might have come to a similar conclusion as youself. They still went ahead with the declaration. I do not want to sound like a leech but I think there is an American blessing to this declared partnership between India and Afghanistan.
A timid and weak Congress would not have risked another major terrorist attack on India UNLESS there is an assurance from US.

The transcript of US secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s Q&A following the Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture Series at Arkansas on Friday was released by state department in Washington only on Monday after careful vetting, and it becomes an authoritative policy position on the US-Pakistan ties.

It comes just in time for Delhi to assimilate a few stunning geopolitical realities before tuning into Afghan president Hamid Karzai’s ORF Memorial Lecture at the Indian capital on Wednesday.

Unsurprisingly, Clinton strove to bury the war cries and instead carry forward the US’s great reconciliation with Pakistan. She put Pakistan back on its high pedestal as not only the US’ close partner in the war on terror, but as “critical” for the “ongoing stability and peace in the region.” Clinton paid fulsome praise to Pakistan for the high sacrifices it is making in the war on terror — more than the US’s own, in fact.

Shockingly, Clinton made it a point to take note that Pakistan lives in a “very difficult security enviornment”, characterised amongst other things by its “deep concerns about India”, which of course places Washington in a “challenging position” – defined, presumably, by the US’ own regional concerns and strategies as well as its so-called “indispensable partnership” with India.

Read Clinton’s Q&A here.
US wants to be the good guy with respect to the Paks and get India to do the dirty work; what India wants is the reverse.

India should help the Afghans without taking upon itself the current Pak rage against the US.
