India-Pakistan Foreign Minister-level talks postponed
Pukis messing this year up is our best chance at Dr. MMS not succeeding at opening flood gates for pakjabis.
First half of 2013 will be electioneering in Pukistan and by second half Indian parties will start preparing for 2014 general elections. Mrs. Gandhi won't want to look weak going into an election season.

What the Pakis don't understand is that it is really damn easy to redirect all the Taliban attacks happening today in Afghanistan towards Pakistan.
All one needs is money and some Islamic narrative of impurity of the Paki Army. If one has the narrative, which is also easy to find, and throws in sufficient money, one can use all the assets ever trained by Pak Army against Pakistan itself.
Just because others don't do it, shouldn't give them the confidence that it cannot be done. If Afghanistan provides the connections and the narrative, and India provides the money, TSPA would be barbecued in a couple of years.

How China, Saudi backing keeps Pak hooked on terror - B. Raman in Firstpost
Wow, all these these PAoks are feeding their munnas that cissies have nulled their military advantage, but they do not mention Mussys stampede at Beijing. To Pakistani political and military leaders, China matters much more than the US. They are more sensitive and responsive to Chinese views, concerns and advice than they are to those of the US.
We saw striking evidence of this during the Kargil military conflict of 1999 between India and Pakistan. The Bill Clinton Administration, then in office in Washington, repeatedly advised Islamabad to withdraw its troops and re-establish the sanctity of the Line of Control (LOC).
Pakistani leaders were confident that China would support their stand against withdrawal. But to their shock, Gen Pervez Musharraf, the then Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), and Nawaz Sharif, the then Prime Minister, who visited Beijing in quick succession, found that Beijing was in agreement with the US advice to withdraw.

“I am thankful to you for your generous help for the ‘mujahideen’ in the shape of wheat crop. I expect you to donate maximum of the corn crop in the coming season,” Saeed told people in Gujranwala.
Earlier, addressing a gathering in Gujranwala, Saeed claimed the U.S. had collapsed economically and no country was willing to bail it out by extending financial support.
“Our helpless rulers are talking of restoring the NATO supply routes but we will not allow them to do so,” he warned.
He further claimed that all the countries in NATO would disperse soon and accused the US of defaming Pakistan and ISI.

A senior Pakistani military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that more than 100 Taliban militants armed with heavy weapons had crossed the border in the attack. After initially reporting six soldiers killed and 11 missing, the official later said that seven of the missing had been “reportedly killed and then beheaded.”
A Pakistani Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack and said the militants had killed 18 soldiers. “We have bodies of 17 of them,” said the spokesman, Sirajuddin, who uses only one name, speaking by phone from an undisclosed location.

The Military dominated “Deep State” of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan seems to have successfully penetrated the US Government funded United States Institute of Peace ( USIP)
USIP publishes an article authored by a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Moeed Yusuf, that presents the argument that dealing harshly with the uniformed Jihadi’s of the military and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is not a good idea.
Pretty amazing that a government funded and controlled agency of a country held up by some here on BRF as a role model of macho toughness that India needs to emulate, namely the US, actually funds propaganda of a country, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in this case, to act gently against a country that is actually killing American’s

As many as 90 others are still missing. Of the 17 bodies, he said that 11 were of Pakistanis. Five of the injured persons had been identified, adding that they were in a hospital in Perth. According to Shakri, who obtained information from the local authorities, there were 107 survivors, 77 of whom have been identified. He said that the nationality of 33 others survival had not been ascertained. "We are working to contact with Australian authorities to identify more survivors who are still unconscious."Despite insistence, the Red Cross was not able to assist because they say that the Australia s departments were capable of dealing with the situation. He said that they were also in contact with Amnesty International and the Refugee Action Committee Australia to get assistance."We tried hard to speak to the High Commission of Pakistan, but they did not respond." He also said that they had tried to contact the Pakistani Consulate but they referred us back to the High Commission in Canberra, Shakri lamented.

This is deja vu. Shortly after ISI perpetrated the Mumbai attacks, TSPA forced former-PM Giliani to retract the statement of his spokesperson Zahid Bashir, who had claimed that Porki ISI chief will travel to India.

Interesting observations about Paki Army Chief, Prime minister and Chief Justice having fired each other at least once in the glorious history of the Land of the Pure:
We have achieved another dubious distinction in the comity of nations: the head of every organ of the state (president, prime minister, army chief and chief justice) has had the pleasure of dismissing another!
[urlhttp://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page= ... 2012_pg3_4][/url]The total head count now stands at 16 at least. Army chiefs have sacked five presidents and prime ministers. Heads of state (governor general or president) have dismissed eight prime ministers. A prime minister sacked an army chief in full flight, literally speaking (only to be arrested by him upon landing). A president sent a chief justice home, and now the self-same, restored, chief justice has fired the prime minister, none other than his reluctant restorer. The cycle of dismissals is thus complete.

British Muslims killed fighting in Dammaj, Yemen
So, who are these two?
Adil Malik, 24, from Hounslow, and his friend, Hisham, had been living in Dammaj for several years, studying with Sheikh Yahya al- Hajooree, who runs a madrassa called Dar ul-Haadith.
In a posting on a salafi website, a man calling himself Ibn Salaf wrote of an attack by “our noble mujahideen” [holy fighters] on the Houthis in the mountains around the town which led to an artillery response which killed 22 fighters from Dammaj.
“From these brothers was our honourable brother Aadil al-Pakistani, one who was always known for having lofty manners and zeal to seek knowledge of the religion and likewise our brother Hishaam who had been studying at Dammaj for five years and benefited a great deal.”
Malik’s father, who moved to Britain from Pakistan 40 years ago, said Dammaj had been under siege by the Houthis for a month at the time his son died in December last year.
“He didn’t go there to fight (yeah right, he goes to some remote Yemeni town on vacation) but if someone comes and attacks you, you have to defend yourself,” he said.
Malik’s father said his son was “shaheed” and added: “His time was written, it is going to come for you, it is written for everyone.”
He reserved his wrath for the Houthi fighters, adding: “The Lord will punish them, they will pay, they will burn in hell, that is my prayer. They have taken innocent people’s lives.”
...
Hisham was originally from Saudi Arabia but has lived in India and in London, according to Malik’s father. Don't know if this bit is true or if the dad was spreading South-Asian equalitis

What does Pakistan want?
What does Pakistan want?
The writer is ex worker of Choona factoryACCORDING to the latest statements from official spokespersons Pakistan wants a peaceful, stable Afghanistan. It no longer maintains that it wants a ‘friendly’ government nor does it make any reference to its reservations about the role India is trying to play in Afghanistan. The commander of the 11th Corps based in Peshawar has said that Pakistan would oppose a Taliban takeover in Afghanistan because this would make more difficult the task of eliminating the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan in Pakistan.Previously, the statement of a division commander from the same corps that drone attacks did more good than harm was termed as a personal assessment by the ISPR and not representative of official thinking. This time no such distinction has been drawn and one can therefore assume that this represents the official assessment. It seems to me that even while Pakistan does not want Taliban domination of a post-withdrawal Afghanistan it would like the Pakhtuns to be adequately represented in any political arrangement that the Afghans can work out among themselves. is time to acknowledge that Afghanistan has been an albatross around our neck for the last 34 years. Our intervention in 1978/1979 was justified. We did fear that that Soviet control over Afghanistan would inevitably lead to ambitions about controlling Pakistani Balochistan and securing for the Soviet Union access to the warm waters of the Arabian Sea. Admittedly, now available politburo papers suggest that this was not the driving force behind the Soviet intervention but this was a real fear in Pakistan. What was not necessary to secure Soviet withdrawal was the use of this intervention to promote Zia’s own brand of Islamisation, inviting fanatic Islamic Mujahideen from all over the world to Pakistan and then allowing them to stay in Pakistan after the Soviet withdrawal. Or to set up madressahs training not only Afghans but also Pakistanis for ‘jihad’. Or to allow Afghan refugees to go wherever they wished in Pakistan, granting many of them Pakistani documentation. And, importantly, to turn a blind eye towards such Mujahedeen activities as the selling of arms in the Pakistan market and drug trafficking to finance the ‘jihad’ or to line their own pockets.
Pakistan, by virtue of geography, is Afghanistan’s window on the outside world just as Afghanistan is the key to Pakistan’s and South Asia’s access to Central Asia and to the wider regional economic network that we dreamt of when we spearheaded the expansion of the Economic Cooperation Organisation in 1991 to include Afghanistan and the Central Asian Republics. Afghanistan should be not the albatross around our neck but a valued partner in bringing economic benefits to the region and to us.

Multatuli, I have not seen yet the above interview that you have posted. But Rudd Lubbers' admission is quite old and appeared first in an August 2005 interview.Multatuli wrote:Here is an interview with the former Dutch PM Ruud Lubber (an interview he gave to NHK JAPAN BROADCASTING and Dutch VPRO tv, some of it is in English):

In a disclosure that is likely to embarrass American authorities, the former Dutch Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers has revealed how the CIA protected the controversial Pakistani nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan and saved him from going to prison after he was caught stealing secret designs from a Dutch uranium plant in 1975. Mr. Lubbers, who was Minister of Economic Affairs at the time, told a Dutch radio station on Tuesday that because of pressure from the CIA no action was taken against Dr. Khan and he was quietly allowed to return to Pakistan. Mr. Lubbers also said that the information was kept away from the country’s Parliament, and the “scandal” became public only in 1979 thanks to a Dutch TV programme. Legal proceedings were launched against Dr. Khan and he was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment in absentia. In 1985, Dr. Khan appealed against the judgement and the court ordered a retrial on grounds that proper procedures were not followed in the original trial. But, according to Mr. Lubbers, Dr. Khan was not put on trial a second time — again because of pressure from the CIA. Mr. Lubbers, who was Prime Minister then, was asked in the programme why his Government succumbed to CIA pressure. He admitted that, looking back, he believed it was a mistake but said at that time the political climate in Europe was such because of the Cold War “you had to listen to the Americans.” He said that Dr. Khan, who had a Dutch wife, continued to “slip in and out of Holland illegally” and the secret services including the CIA knew about it.

US commander to fly to Pakistan: officials
WASHINGTON — The commander of US-led troops in Afghanistan, General John Allen, is due to visit Pakistan on Wednesday, officials said, amid strained relations between Islamabad and Washington.
In meetings with Pakistani army chief General Ashfaq Kayani, Allen is expected to discuss militants operating from havens inside Pakistan, Islamabad's continuing blockade of NATO supply convoys to Afghanistan and other issues, said US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The United States withdrew its negotiating team from Pakistan earlier this month after talks stalled on the reopening of crucial routes into Afghanistan for NATO trucks.
US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta also has warned the United States is running out of patience over Islamabad's failure to crack down on Haqqani fighters staging cross-border attacks out of Pakistan.
Pakistan shut its borders to NATO supply convoys in November after 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed in a botched US air strike along the border.
Washington has expressed condolences but refused a demand from Pakistan to issue an apology over the incident.
The US military now runs supplies by air and over longer, more costly road and rail routes through Central Asia, the Caucasus and Russia.
Allen's visit coincides with political turmoil in Pakistan, after judges ousted the premier. Last week, MPs elected Raja Pervez Ashraf as Pakistan's new prime minister in a bid to end the crisis.

Four more Pak Army officers were part of 26/11 plot
New Delhi, June 26
Indian investigators are now clear that the deadly 26/11 attacks were masterminded with active backing of the establishment in Pakistan.
The role of three Pakistani Army officers — Major Iqbal, Major Sameer Ali and Major Abdul Rehman Hashmi — has already been established and their names are in a chargesheet filed by the National Investigation Agency in a Delhi court. The interrogation of Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari, alias Abu Hamza, alias Abu Zindal, has revealed that at least four more Pakistani Army officers were part of the Mumbai terror plot.
Armed with fresh evidence, India is likely to counter Pakistan over involvement of its state actors in the strikes.
Ansari also told the investigators that Indian Mujahideen terrorists are being introduced to the ISI in Saudi Arabia and funds are being collected in the name of ‘jihad’ from radical groups in the Saudi kingdom. “Once the investigation is over, the details will be tabulated and sent to Pakistan. We have sufficient evidence to prove that the Pakistan-based terrorists are fanning trouble in India with active support from the establishment there”, said a senior Home Ministry official.
Ansari was among the core-group of planners of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, which planned, executed and directed the Mumbai carnage. Two other core group members, Tahawwur Rana and David Coleman Headley, are in the US custody. Sources said Ansari was arrested in Saudi Arabia nearly a year ago. However, the Kingdom wanted a scientific evidence, which was provided by India in the form of a blood sample of his family living in Maharashtra. The DNA matched and then frenzied back-channel diplomatic efforts led to Ansari’s handing over to India.
The Saudis finally allowed a special plane from India’s Aviation Research Centre (ARC) — a part of Research & Analysis Wing — to land and pick up the suspect.
The investigators are trying to find out who aided Ansari in getting a Pakistani passport under the name of Riyasat Ali and who allowed him to sneak into Saudi Arabia.
