Women's discus throw qualification live result link
Poonia is in #3 position with a 63.54 throw in her second attempt. The 'Q' against her name suggests she's provisionally qualified for the final by place from group A

From a completely layperson point of view, Poonia's technique seems the most fluid. There is a Cuban and Chinese who are throwing in the same range as Poonia.

Instead of repeatedly posting minor score updates, here's the match score link:

We all know where the link to the score is. This board also gives the feeling of watching/following the match 'together'.

This match isn't going our way... :((

I hope Azarenka is tired with back to back matches. It isn't over yet.

Have it your way :)

Why is the live score stuck at 3-2 with Paes/Mirza to serve ?

It says the match is POSTPONED.
Rained out?

I think this is a lucky break for us. Hope they good guys regroup and come up with a plan and this disruption ruins the concentration and momentum of the other guys.

Antil is 5th in group B after her first discus throw, with a 61.10 effort. Well under her 64.8m national mark. Anything above 63m automatically qualifies you into the final.

Seema Antil just threw 61.91, which places her 11th overall. Top 13 will qualify I believe.

If fewer than 12 athletes achieve the qualifying standard, the best 12 athletes go through.

Vikas wins! But he better sharpen up, I think he isn't fit enough and took a lot of blows.. All the US boxers are out without a medal.

Again some bad judging. I thought American won the game fair and square.

I don't mind this result because we got one adverse judging before with Sumit Sangwan.

Krishan had a bye in the first round, so he's rusty. All the others in the QFs also had first round bouts to help them get their heads together.

Nothing much is likely to come of the US appeal in a 2-point win. This wasn't like the Japanese guy decking the Azerbaijani 6 times and still losing originally, before AIBA overturned that.

Krishan's QF opponent will be Andrei Zamkovoy of Russia.

Men's Welter (69kg)
The winners of the two semi-finals compete for the gold medal. The losers of the semi-finals are each awarded a bronze.

So one more win, ensures a medal.

Vikas should get his act together. He was just standing there and taking punches without moving and he got tired because of continuous blows he took. He need to counter punch quickly or move outside.

Boxing results are crap(pier?) this year. Frankly, even Vikas thought he had lost. As did the referee, who had raised the american's hand and looked silly when the result favored the Indian. They need to do something about this, and it doesn't help India even if the results come out in fovor once in a while. Sangwan >> Vikas Krishan as far as I can tell. He had a much better chance at a medal if he had won. The russian will demolish Vikas in the next round.

Throwing Random punches doesnt get you points in Amateur Boxing. The scoring is different. I would say its a close match and not as one sided as people are making it look.

It was very unprofessional on the Referre's part to raise his hand. That decision is not his.

Lets not be hard on Vikas. This was his first match.

^ +1 . I don't know how people are saying this, when that final score was arrived from 5 Judges at the venue.
Are people well aware of all the rules in amateur boxing ?

Devendro and jai bhagwan are aggressive boxers. Vijender is a perfect mix of aggression and defense. Referees have been big time let down. So far we, japan, usa and china complaining about referees.

indeed. there was vijender's close match, and then there was vikas's. two different things.

i dont recall boxing officials being sent home mid tournament before. i dont recall successful appeals either. there is not much to appreciate about referees even if you forget the evidence of millions in central asian "investments".

this is an all knock-off tournament, you can not hope for warm up matches. and ther is no reason to pretend he did better than he did.

lets wish vikas luck, but he wil have to change things really around to stand a chance against the russian in the nect round. may be he has something in his routine he didnt use this time.
