They are also talking of an attack on Minhas airbase too. What do they have at this airbase?
According to wiki, Minhas and Kamra are the same airbase.

Base has nukes

The target is the Kamra Air Base, located around 40 miles outside Islamabad. The attacked is believed to be conducted by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — reports in the Pakistan press have suggested they were planning attacks in retaliation for upcoming military action.

Time Magazine's Omar Waraich points out that this is the third attack on the base since 2007.

Worryingly, the militants may have good reason to attack the base. Waraich says that the site is home of Pakistan's nascent drone program, and a Telegraph report from 2009 said the site was thought to house Pakistan's nuclear weapons. Saeed Shah wrote at the time:

Pakistan’s nuclear sites are tightly guarded. While experts do not think that terrorists could seize an actual nuclear bomb — the weapons are not kept in a useable form, with parts dispersed — it is possible that they could cause a fire or explosion inside a nuclear site, or perhaps seize radioactive material.

At the time of writing the attack appears to be ongoing.

No wonder appeals to Allah etc.

So its the Paki bad Taliban and Good Taliban for Karzai.

Attack is still on..long live the bunnies who are involved in this..this is not just good Taliban, they are the best taliban.

Army has been called in to control the situation - means Airforce men are not TFTA?

Kamra is an airbase where assembling of JF-17 is carried out - Is it an airbase or a factory? Oops forgetting, in TSP lingo, manufacture means painting green..

Maybe PA is upto creating some situation to get something from its benefactor and not-so-benefactors.
Things should get clear soon. It is daybreak time.
In the meantime, it did remind of the "live feed" during the OBL raid.

Gunmen have attacked a Pakistani military air base and are engaged in a fierce fire-fight with security forces, officials say.

Militants attacked the Minhas air base at Kamra, about 60km (35 miles) north-west of the capital Islamabad, in the early hours of Thursday.

The Pakistani air force said troops had cordoned off the area and that the "terrorists" had been surrounded.

It is not known if there are any casualties.

All Pakistan's air bases have been placed on high alert following the attack.

A police officer outside the air base, Hafeez Aulakh, said he could hear intense gunfire and see flames leaping up from inside, the Associated Press news agency reported.

Reports said the gunmen had been wearing military uniforms.

No group has said it carried out the attack but Islamist militants linked to the Pakistani Taliban have previously targeted military bases.

In May 2011, militants attacked the Mehran naval air base in Karachi, killing 10 soldiers.

It took security forces about 17 hours to secure the base on that occasion.

In 2009 a suicide bomber killed six people at a military checkpoint in Kamra, in Punjab province.

Minhas is one of Pakistan's biggest air bases with about 30 fighter jets including new JF-17 planes - jointly developed with China - that are being assembled there.

http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2012/08/ ... ml?_r=1&hp
ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Suspected Islamist militants attacked an air force base in central Pakistan early on Thursday, the air force said, in a brazen challenge to the country's powerful military.

Air force commandos were exchanging gunfire with what an air force statement called "terrorists", hours after the attackers entered Minhas base in the town of Kamra in Punjab province.

"Terrorists" is the term Pakistani authorities use to describe militant groups such as the Taliban.

The overnight assault challenged official assertions that Pakistan's military had severely weakened militants waging a violent campaign to topple the U.S.-backed government and impose strict Islamic rule.

"One body of a suicide bomber strapped with explosives has been found close to the impact area," said the statement.

Pakistan's Taliban movement has staged a number of high-profile attacks over the past few years, including one on army headquarters in Rawalpindi in 2009.

Last year, six Taliban gunmen attacked a naval base in Pakistan's biggest city Karachi to avenge the killing of Osama bin Laden. At least 10 military personnel were killed and 20 wounded in the 16-hour assault.

Those attacks, and the latest one, are embarrassing for Pakistan's military, which has ruled the country for more than half of its 65-year history and is seen as the most efficient state institution.

The Taliban, which is close to al Qaeda, is blamed for many of the suicide bombings across Pakistan, a strategic U.S. ally.

Pakistan's military, one of the biggest in the world, has staged several offensives against Taliban strongholds in the unruly tribal areas near the border with Afghanistan.

But the operations have failed to break the back of the Taliban. Major suicide bombings have eased considerably over the past year but that could be due to a tactical shift and not pressure from the military.

The Express Tribune correspondent Irfan Ghauri reports that sources have said one senior PAF officer injured in the attack is in critical condition. One plane was damaged in the attack.
The security of the base is handled by the Defence Services Guard.

My quip is that the history of Pakistan can be summarized as the consequences of seeking to evade the principle of one man-one vote.

The senior PAF officer is an Air Commodore.

From a 5 days ago:

http://tribune.com.pk/story/419897/thre ... -paf-base/
The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is planning attacks on the Pakistan Air Force Base and other military and security establishments in Lahore before Eid, according to intelligence reports received by the Home Department. The intelligence reports, which have been forwarded to the inspector general of Punjab Police and other officials concerned, stated that at least two TTP teams had made arrangements for attacks in revenge for the killing of Ghaffar Qaiserani alias Saifullah, an alleged TTP leader, in a shootout with the police at Dera Ghazi Khan on August 1.
Now that the first team has covered itself in glory, the second team should aspire to to better than them.

Should admire the courage and dedication of PAF personnel who have demonstrated that storming their base, shooting their commodore and setting an AWACS on fire has real consequences.

I think instead of going all the way to waziristan, Pakistan army should lure all the TTP into their bases and finish them off there.

Anyone recall Adnan Rashid of PAF who escaped in the Bannu prison break (he was imprisoned there for an attempt on Mushy's life) recently? He had vowed revenge on PAF and Paki army. Wont be surprised if that pure green was involved.

http://dawn.com/2012/04/16/high-profile ... soners-fm/
Adnan Rashid, a high profile prisoner who escaped from Bannu Central Prison on Sunday morning, was enjoying the facility of cellular phone inside the death cells of different jails where he was lodged after being sentenced to death by a field general court martial for his alleged attempt on the life of Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf.

In the first life attempt on Gen Musharraf that took place near Jhanda Chichi Bridge at Rawalpindi on Dec 14, 2003, six personnel of PAF including Adnan Rashid were convicted by a field general court martial on Oct 3, 2005, at PAF Base Chaklala.

Everytime such an attack happens, I fear that somebody is accumulating critical components for bomb assembly at a remote location.
Only PA would know which components have been acquired till now and what components remain to be acquired to complete assembly.
