On Aaj Tak TV, former Army chief Gen Shankar Roy Chowdhary said that Army is not allowed by govt to issue such statements. The fact that he said so means that he got the green signal from the GoI
My guess too. I only remember last time a Gen speaking this language during Kargil.

He's been with the BJP for a long time now.

He is also very close to Zia Ul Haq's family. Sinha recently attended the wedding of Ijaq Ul Haq's son. The same Ijaq Ul Haq who is a supporter of Hafiz Saeed.

Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, who enjoys close ties with the family of former Pakistan President Gen Zia-ul-Haq, attended the wedding of the late leader's grandson Osman-ul-Haq in Islamabad.

The senior BJP leader visited Pakistan on a special invitation from Zen Zia, daughter of Gen Zia ul-Haq, who regards the Indian actor-politician as brother.

Sinha's son Luv accompanied him to Pakistan for the function on Sunday last.

Osman ul-Haq is son of Ijaz-ul-Haq, who is Gen Zia ul-Haq's son and a former Pakistani minister.

Zen Zia ties rakhi to Sinha, who had also travelled to Islamabad on January 18 last year to meet her.

She is my darling sister and I love her very much,” the Bollywood actor-turned-BJP leader said. “Love and emotional attachment knows no boundary... this is a special relationship of brother-sister between us which is deep rooted unmindful of relationship between the two neighbours,” he added.

Zen Zia inquired about health of Sinha, who underwent a bypass surgery recently. She also expressed happiness over success of his daughter Sonakshi's films, Sinha said.

The BJP MP from Patna Sahib said he had first come to Pakistan in the 1980s at the invitation of the then President Gen Zia-ul-Haq with whom he hit it off instantly.

"We got along very well with each other," Sinha said.

Late last year, Qadri returned from Canada where he spent seven years preaching interfaith harmony and holding seminars to de-radicalize young Muslims. He lectured on his pet themes around the world. One port of call was India in February 2012. He launched his book denouncing terrorism in Delhi and later travelled to Karjan in Gujarat where he thanked Chief Minister Narendra Modi for the excellent security arrangements the state government had made during his visit.

The foolhardy Indian peaceniks will offer any dumb dummy excuse to look even more foolish. The link is to an Amit Baruah article in DAWN. Yes, you guessed right. He was The Hindu's correspondent in Islamabad for a while and has even written a book on his experience.
Any impartial observer would note that there’s a context to the claims of ceasefire violations by the two sides, and it’s always the “other party” to blame.
I am not one of those who share the view of impending war, but believe that television hawks in India have had a field day demanding “more” from their government.
The Indians will tell you about their fear that the Pakistani army is still “pushing” jihadis across the LoC, a charge that Rawalpindi will definitely deny.

But these are excuses.
Yet again, if the two sides had been able to come to an agreement on demilitarising Siachen, there would have been a positive, cascading effect all along the LoC and the international border.

Anti-Pakistan protests threaten to derail Indian league
A new franchise-based Indian hockey league faces the prospect of being forced out of Mumbai after heightened regional political tensions led to protests against Pakistani players competing in the IPL-style event on Sunday.

Following the latest outbreak of violence in disputed Kashmir, around 100 workers of the hardline right-wing Shiv Sena party protested at a stadium where the Mumbai Magicians team, who have four Pakistani players in their squad, were practising.

The players had to be whisked away and the team subsequently left Mumbai on Monday for New Delhi, where the inaugural match of the five-team Hockey India League (HIL) will be held.

Local organisers are unsure if they will be able to hold the franchise's home matches in Mumbai if Pakistani players remain in the side.

"It does not depend any longer on the HIL and the players. It will now depend on the government of India's stand and the government of Maharashtra's stand," Ram Singh Rathor, the secretary of Mumbai Hockey Association, told Reuters.

"I think it will be a very difficult situation if we have to play with the Pakistani players in Mumbai." The Mumbai police said they had beefed up security at the practice venue after they became aware of the protests.

This phrase has specifically been used from the 'international' perspective and not Indian. DNA machod is trying to label Kashmir as 'disputed Kashmir'. This is not the first time this newspaper is crossing the red line. Many times it has used word 'alleged' when talking about 26/11.

Guys, have you all noticed one thing. TSP, true to form, rushed to their 3.5 and cornered the "international advantage" soon after our guys, the good guys, struck the first time. Several days ago, NYT had prominent headlines printing TSP's version. (Of course, TSP also took deadly revenge, but thats a different matter). But since then, I don't see anything in the NYT. Uncle has been practically silent since then. Not even the usual equal equal, be my good boys, puke from Vicki Nuland of state dpet. Wonder whats going on.

There is of course this Beeb report which practices objective journalism 101 when Indians are massacred by Paki terrorists, the versions of "both sides" are carried, never mind the one-sided brutal war TSP has imposed on India for past several decades, in contrast to showing TSP perfidy when they are under attack

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-21007802

And a flush appointment at either Kings college in London, or Brookings institution or any one of the many US empire think tanks in DC awaits their little boy Praveen Swami (bloody p!mp), where like other dorks like Sadanand Dhume, he can join the likes of Paki RAPE like Shuja Nawaz, and as a "good boy" he can sing Uncle's equal equal tune after every TSP atrocity against India
Despite Indian accusations that Pakistan is in breach of ceasefire accords, two Indian newspapers have suggested the reverse may be true.

The reports last week said Indian commanders may have precipitated the clashes by ordering new observation posts on the Line of Control after a 70-year-old woman crossed it unhindered last year.
R-man, where are you? I haven't noticed anything from you since this latest hara kiri by TSP. What are your DC sources telling you?

^^ CRamS, After so many years of biased experience why should we even bother of what and how foreign media reports? Why should we need a certificate from them? We have nothing to hide and nothing to be ashamed of. Learn from Chinese and show a big finger. Where we should be worried of the Indian media taking side of the enemy. Now that is unforgivable.

@Gagan , I have been searching for it since last week onlee. Somehow ISPR has made arrangements so no laal topi or no hajjam has made a program. They are more interested in the long march farce.
But the long march could be a ploy by the TSPA to gain control from the back end (all the puns intended)

X post from the psyops and media watch thread.

TTP pledges to fight in Kashmir, implement sharia in India
A top Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Wali Ur Rehman in a rare video appearance has pledged to send fighters in Kashmir and wage a struggle for implementation of Sharia rule in India.

Wali Ur Rehman, against whom the US has announced a USD 5 million reward for his involvement in the murder of seven CIA officials in Afghanistan in December 2009, is believed to have said this in a rare video of his along with the TTP chief Hamikullah Mehsud, in which the two militant leaders have for the first time spoken about their ambitions transcending beyond the Af-Pak border taking them to Kashmir, India and the United States as well.

"The practical struggle for a Sharia system that we are carrying out in Pakistan, the same way we will continue it in Kashmir, and the same way we will implement the Sharia system in India too. And this is the only solution for people's problems," said Rehman, according to the translation provided by the Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) of Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a Washington-based think tank.

The 45:52 minute video in Pashtu with Urdu subtitles has been produced by Umar Media, the broadcasting arm of TTP. The video is titled as "The False Propaganda of the Dajjali Media Revealed." It was released to internet on January 6.

According to MEMRI, for the first time perhaps, TTP's official spokesman Ehsanullah Ihsan is show in the video, which devotes a section – towards the last part -- on Kashmir.

Claiming that the Jihad launched by the Pakistani Government inside Kashmir has failed to yield any desired result, the TTP video says that it would launch its own jihad in the Valley and talks about sending its own jihadi forces in the Valley.

"Allah willing, the mujahedeen of Tehreek-e-Taliban will arrive in Kashmir and as per the Islamic sharia will help the Kashmiris get their rights. As our ancestors sacrificed their lives for Kashmir and had got Kashmir liberated by force [in 1947-48], the same way their these progenies [i.e Taliban fighters], walking in the footsteps of their forefathers, will get Kashmir liberated [from India], and will help them get their rights," Rehman said.

"That registered [i.e government-sponsored] jihad that Pakistan had begun cannot liberate Kashmir, and even if it were to be liberated, it will be for name only, but the system will not change [in favor of Islamic shari'a rule] and their fate will not be changed, and if it were to change, only Shari'a system will change it. And it is our promise to those people [in Kashmir], that we will share their grief," the propaganda says as per the translation provided by MEMRI.

"Insofar as Pakistan's dirty policy [on Kashmir] is concerned, as per which Kashmiris have been ruined and destroyed under the pretext of Kashmir policy, their everything has been destroyed, we strongly condemn this policy too as much as we do about India’s atrocities," said Rehman, who has been designated as a terrorist leader by the State Department.

Tufail Ahmed from Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) – a Washington-based expert who keeps a tab on the terrorist outfits of the region -- said that this should not be dismissed as a propaganda video in the usual sense of the term propaganda.

"Basically, it is a formal articulation of viewpoint by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan on key major issues, for example jihadi activities in Pakistan and Afghanistan and the Arab Spring. The timing of the video is important for three reasons: First, it is released just on the eve of Afghan President Hamid Karzai's visit to Washington DC.

And the TTP commanders do reveal how they look forward to the withdrawal of the American forces from Afghanistan in 2014, hoping that Taliban leader Mullah Omar will hold some kind of power after 2014 and his policies will also be followed by the TTP. Importantly also, Mehsud clarifies that Mullah Muhammad Omar is not merely emir of Pakistani Taliban and Afghan Taliban, but also of Al-Qaeda worldwide," he told PTI.

Secondly, the video is aimed at quashing some rumors that there is a conflict among top TTP commanders, with Maulana Waliur Rehman and Maulana Fazlullah seeking to dislodge Hakimullah Mehsud from the position of TTP emir, he said.

"One thing that must worry international intelligence agencies, especially the US, is TTP Emir Hakimullah Mehsud's statement in this video that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan is an international organization," he said. "This is totally unprecedented, though in the past his predecessor Baitullah Mehsud has expressed similar visions; but now it simply means that the Taliban leadership is broadening its horizons internationally, which may be due to the US withdrawal of forces by 2014 and emerging vacuum," Ahmed said.

"Significantly, in the video, Mehsud offers to support jihadi fighters in Arab countries. India also needs to worry because this might be for the first time that the TTP is expressing a detailed diversification of jihadi battlefield to include Kashmir and wider India," Ahmed said.

According to the US State Department, Wali Ur Rehman is second in command and chief military strategist of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He commands TTP members in South Waziristan.

The Vice President speaketh - The Hindu
“The definition of diplomacy is to continue negotiating at all times under all conditions. So there is work for diplomats to do. Neighbours can’t be wished away; they are a fact of life. So we have to continue talking … and talking from a position of dignity and rectitude,” he said in answer to a question on whether there was a need to review the country’s relationship with Pakistan in light of the killing and mutilation of two Indian soldiers last week.
Mr. Vice President, talk as much as you can, but also act once in a while especially when an Indian soldier is beheaded and his head taken away as a trophy and another is mutilated or when an urbam guerrilla warfare happens for three days in mega city like Mumbai killing nealy 200 innocents, or when repeated multi-city serial bomb blasts take place killing a few hundred, or when commuter trains in Mumbai are regularly targetted killing a few hundred.

What have your talks achieved so far ? The ruling political class has to understand the depth of anger in this country. There is a time for talking and there is a time exclusively for action alone. Many a time before we were needed to act firmly but we didn't and we continue to pay a heavy price because we only talked like a chatterbox. On the other hand, whenever we acted, in those few and extremely rare cases when we had been pushed too far and we had no more space left to be pushed any further, the results were telling.

The India-Pakistan relationship is moving certainly towards such a denouement. We can talk provided that is a ruse to lull Pakistan into a complacency that the dhimmi India was once again exhibiting its characteristic behaviour, and we hit them very hard most unexpectedly. Till that time, Mr. Vice President, I will hold my earlier judgement of the GoI, which is that it is almost exclusively composed of cowardly men and women who belong to a long bygone era.

These guys cannot give any news without editorialising -- this Times View thingie is a way to do this. These so-called journalists derive their power from passing comments on others and taking pot shots. Just reporting news objectively will take away their power so they institutionalise cat-calls in their reporting style. Someone tell these jokers that no one is interested in their views about everything under the sun. People just want news.

Buffoon Tahirul Qadri has gathered a crowd next to Pakistan parliament. Declared the government to be dissolved. Exhorted police personnel to disobey orders. A few in the crowd pelted stones on policemen. Policemen fired in the air. Rehman Malik has declared that the crowd should stay far away from Tahirul Qadri's car because TTP might attack it (I am not making this up).

In short, popcorn time.
