Unfortunately India is one of the biggest victims of terrorism in the 21st century world. Interestingly, it has become very fashionable over the past 4 to 6 years to flash Hindutva “terror” or Saffron “terror” at the drop of a hat. Hindutva, is essentially an ideology which is pro-Hindu, and Saffron is a colour most associated with Sanatana Dharma, or Hinduism as the world labels it. Many people bring “Hindu terror”, “Hindutva terror” or “Saffron terror” into political and media discussions to score brownie points with the generally Hindu-despising crowd out there — the so-called secular people, communists, and some ‘friendly neighbours’ of who have a big stake in projecting Hindus in bad light.

Since Islamic terror or Muslim terror has been so much in news this century, some people felt obligated to bring in an “equal-equal” balancing act to emphasise their own secular credentials. Of course it would be stupid to say that there are no bad people who are Hindus. They exist. There are criminals, rapists, murderers and much worse people who happen to be from practicing Hindu family or just have a Hindu name. But ‘Hindutva terror’ or ‘Hindu terror’ is mostly meaningless as hardly any Hindu would go out and commit terrorism for the glory of the Bhagavad Gita or for attaining heaven for the sake of Krishna or Durga, or cite a Vedic mantra before blowing up a group of people. Hindu criminals surely exist, but Hindu ‘terror’(of the Islamist variety) is mostly imaginary. I have never come across an act of Hindutva ‘terror’ that killed even 100 people (that’s 0.8 per cent of the number of global terror victims in 2011) anywhere in the world in one incident. You can leave a comment below to educate us if you find this claim false.
India features among the six countries most affected by terrorism in 2011. In Afghanistan, 3,353 people died due to terror attacks in 2011. Iraq saw 3,063 deaths, Pakistan saw 2,033, Somalia saw 1,101, Nigeria saw 593 and India saw 479 victims. These are purely terrorism-related deaths, and do not include deaths in religious / sectarian wars like in Syria where more than 20,000 people have died in 2011 itself. The war-torn Afghanistan, the unstable Iraq, and the very likely imploding Pakistan together account for 64 per cent of the terrorist attacks in the world during 2011. India’s most volatile neighbour Pakistan, with a long history exporting terrorism, saw an increase of 8 per cent in terror attacks compared to 2010.

Now let us come to religious demographics. I am not sure this even deserves mention, but something needs to stand in contrast to all the ‘Hindutva’ bashing in Indian media.:

1. In 2011, 56 per cent of the world’s terrorist attacks (5,700) were by Sunni Muslims. 70 per cent of the worldwide deaths were also OF Sunni Muslims.

2. Effectively, out of the 12,533 terror victims in the world in 2011, 8,886 were killed by Sunni Muslim extremists.

3. There were 279 suicide attacks in the world during 2011. Sunni Muslims conducted 93 per cent of these attacks.

4. Out of 12,000+ killed by terrorists in 2011, 6,418 were civilians. 755 were children. Nearly 90 per cent of terror victims, with their religion identified, were Muslims.

Amazing! What will the ‘secular’ columnists, who made a living bashing ‘Hindutva terror’ do now? Not ONE mention in the world’s most comprehensive report of Hindu ‘terror’. Not to mention the fact that an overwhelming majority of terrorists listed happen to be Muslims, whom these folks hesitate to highlight, thanks to their ‘equal-equal’ reporting mission. Is it time for them to get back to their ‘terrorism has no religion’ cliche?

2011 Indian Terror Groups per the Global Report:

Since India unfortunately figured in this list, it was necessary to dig deep into incidents involving the country, to find out who in India was killing that many people. According to the report, the top non-Muslim terrorist groups in the world were FARC from Columbia (carried out 377 attacks in 2011), CPI-Maoist in India (351 attacks), NPA-CPP of Philippines that struck 102 times and PKK of Turkey (carried out 48 attacks).

Here were the only 3 Indian terror organisations featured:

1. Communist ideology holding Communist Party of India – Maoist.

2. Indian Mujahideen, the terror outfit that is alleged to have links with Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), for which the incumbent Foreign Minister of India Salman Khurshid was a legal voice.

3. Harkat ul-Jihad Islami (HUJI).

Bhai log looks like you guys are half Gadkaris youself. Yesterday I did mention that Gadakari does not take pressure good enough and today you guys loose all hope.

Gadakari is safe. Gurumurthy ji knows that and that is why he stuck his neck out. I due to my profession also concur on prima facie basis. Also on account of my profession I am placing a strong buy on Gadakari being in the safe zone. That is also why he clearly mentioned that he will keep fighting politically and legally. This part of his statement addresses a fact so it should be taken as truth. Yes the legal fight will be long. Primarily because law is an ass. Law as we have it today has nothing to do with justice it is in the range of a frigging conspiracy.

Gadakari going cannot happen if RSS does not says so. RSS will not ask him to go till they have something in mind. These are things historically known.

The fact that Gadakari cited the pressure as a reason is something that does not address any fact and is merely a hand waving excercise. Gadakari has said many different things at many different points. Some of these are contradictory. I for one would not treat this as a valid part of the statement. Kongis will attack everything that has anything to do with Sangh. Yes, a lot of people in Sangh have a lot of ideas and a lot believe that they should be PM but at the end of the day they all know that without the protection of Sangh individually they will be in deep doodoo, at least politically.

Yes with the Income Tax raids Gadakari is now a liability. Until now you guys believed he was, I differed. This day had to come sooner or later. RSS knew this. They have no less then Gurumurthy and Ram Jethmalani advising them.

NM is the tiger in the cage. Fact. Har maa apne 41 saal ke bete ko kahti hai beta so jaa warna NM aa jayega. Aug bacha so jayega. All the bacha needs to do is to open his mouth and all his dood ke daant will show. Everybody in Sangh wants the benefit of NM which is clearly there in campainging. A lot of Sanghis then would like to pip him to the post and become PM themselves. This kind of double crossing happens. Anybody who takes on risks should be ready for this and work to mould his environment in a way that he gets the best without having any guarantees.

In such a situation a separation of parliamentary leadership and party leadership is inevitable and in fact necessary. Personally I also would not like NM to hijack Sangh. The guy is too powerful. Sangh is too important. Our people are too naive, though honest. NM will be good for at best 5-8 years. We have to live beyond that too.

Within the D4 everybody was fighting with his gun on others shoulders. This makes clear that all of D4 is actually only Advani ji. The vet does not want to go yet. Personally I am ok with it. Advani was at one time protective of Modi and he knows well the places and ways Modi can hurt the party. RSS wanted the best of all worlds. Well they deserve it. RSS was negotiating all around and had a good hand in the negotiations till these Tax raids. The moment these raids happened RSS went to Advani ji for consultations. They realised their strong hand was running out of time. Gave whatever Advani ji wanted.

Till this point I see everything the way it should be in politics.

My concern still remains what is the bloody deal with NM. He cannot be expected to risk his cosy position in Gujarat for a riff-raff party. He deserves a free hand in the campaign. But Advani ji is not beyond some shenanigans. The vet too wants to be the PM. Somebody has to ensure that both these guys do not hurt everybody involved. Already we have had a bunch of guys make a fool of themselves and the larger Sangh in the Gujarat elections. It was statesmanly of NM not to have treated these guys bad and politely shown them there place.

JMHT.
In a way we should be happy for this turn of events. The wait was getting on my nerves. Seems like it was getting on somebody elses nerves too. Somebody in Kong.

Question to expert. How receipt will help here. I mean they can still print genuine receipt but in reality they will divert vote to the favorite party.

Folks! There will be no less dumber people than our voters if the CON MAFIA or Jagan is voted back into power. If people don't have least common sense to question the open lies/acts these morons are doing, we don't deserve a nation. The Sharmila drama of broken foot and can't do padayatra has become a butt of jokes. Some time she appears with bandage on left leg and some times on the right foot.

In the summer of 2007, Rahul Gandhi uttered these sagely words, “I belong to the family which has never moved backwards, which has never gone back on its words. You know that whenever any member of my family has decided to do anything, he has done it. Be it the freedom struggle, the division of Pakistan or taking India to the 21st century.”

In the spring of 2011, Rahul Gandhi enlightened us by saying, “Corruption is taking place because doors of the political system are closed and the average person who wants to do good is not allowed in.”

In the winter of 2013, Rahul Gandhi further asserted, “All our public systems… are designed to keep people with knowledge out. They are closed systems. They are designed to promote mediocrity.”
The idiot has no shame taking over the maai-baap property called India and do drama baazi. The people get what they deserve.

Lohpurush thinks that he can getaway like "Atal Ji". He forgets that he has no voter base in cow belt. PP guy predicted it correctly this IT raid & threat to arrest Gadkari.
After news of the income-tax raids, top BJP and RSS leaders went into a huddle in Mumbai and Delhi.

Advani told RSS deputy chief Bhaiyya Joshi that Yashwant Sinha would contest against Gadkari, to which the BJP chief said he would quit and Rajnath should take over.

RSS then summoned BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu and Ananth Kumar, who assembled at BJP's Rajya Sabha leader Arun Jaitley's office. RSS pointsman Suresh Soni told the leaders that Rajnath would be the next party chief.

Some of us arm-chair strategists, are simply being just arm-chair strategists. In the absence of leaders who can catch the public's imagination, people will vote for things that bring more value to their immediate (closer) needs and wants. They will vote on caste, religion, local needs, local agendas, local takleefs ityadi. NaMo and Rahul are two such leaders - rightly or wrongly have caught the imagination. I personally, prefer a system that provides opportunities to growth, stability and prosperity over individuals.

However, these leaders need grass root workers - which means these leaders have to lean on their party and its workers. So what becomes important is how efficient are the two national parties in:
1) Forging alliances - INC fares better than BJP.
2) Breaking opponent's alliances - BJP does a good job of not able to keep its alliances, no need for external help.
3) Dividing the opponents - INC does this better than BJP.
4) Motivating grass root workers and building support in the cadre - Equal.
5) Using traditional Media - INC beats BJP on this
6) Using Social Media - BJP has the 'Internet Hindus', and more important dharma and truth on their side.
7) Operating on Public's fear - INC has created BJP === communal violence.
8) Utilizing public distrust on politicians. Equal {It does not matter if INC and its alliances have committed more scams. Public associate politicians and corruption}

To me BJP seems to be bumbling from one joke on to the other. It should get its house in order. The present UPA government is incompetent and has lost trust and the confidence of almost all, yet 2014 does not guarantee a BJP (+ alliance) win. BJP just does not have what it requires to topple INC - it is as simple as that. Hence the hero worship, and our knee-jerk reactions and fear in what ever happens in the BJP camp.

If RS was a Congress mole in BJP, why has BJP not created a mole for itself in the Congress camp, huh? One might be tempted to bring in the comparison that INC is 'dynastic' and BJP is all democratic.

Grandpa war fells Gadkari

Image

New Delhi, Jan. 22: Rajnath Singh is set to be BJP president, capping an internecine battle that saw two white-moustachioed patriarchs biting the dust but not before thwarting each other.

Nitin Gadkari, the incumbent battling corruption charges and enjoying the blessings of the RSS chief, put in his papers tonight after it became clear that sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat had run into an ambush attributed to L.K. Advani.

Advani drew the satisfaction of foiling Bhagwat’s candidate but he had to accept the diktat of the RSS that picked Rajnath, a former BJP president.

Advani, backed by his peers Murli Manohar Joshi and Yashwant Sinha, refused to accept Bhagwat’s proposal to renew Gadkari’s term.

Apart from the notion that Gadkari’s reinstatement would hobble the BJP’s anti-corruption campaign against the UPA, Advani’s stiff opposition stemmed from his fear that Gadkari was a front for the Sangh. Sources said the Advani camp had concluded that under Gadkari, Bhagwat hoped to intervene “directly and decisively” in the party’s affairs.

Bhagwat, on the other hand, was unprepared to countenance Advani looming like a shadow over the BJP. The RSS-Advani equation, said sources, was so “skewed” with mutual distrust that the Sangh suspected that Advani, once the “apple of its eye”, could manipulate himself as a Prime Minister frontrunner if the BJP gained an edge in the 2014 polls.

In the afternoon, prodded by Advani, Yashwant, the former finance and foreign minister, signalled that he might contest against Gadkari. Sinha sent an emissary to collect the nomination papers and the voter list from the BJP office.

Unlike Mahesh Jethmalani, the Mumbai lawyer supposed to take on Gadkari, nobody regarded Sinha as a “lightweight”.

By coincidence, Advani and Gadkari were in Mumbai to attend a Sangh event today and they shared the dais. Both met Suresh “Bhaiyyaji” Joshi, Bhagwat’s second-in-command.

Joshi’s message to Advani was terse: if he couldn’t accept Gadkari, he had to settle for the Sangh’s second choice, Rajnath. A similar request earlier was rejected by Advani, who never trusted Rajnath because he saw him as a Sangh “puppet”.

Joshi made it clear that none of Advani’s nominees were acceptable.

In Delhi, Opposition leaders, Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj were called on by another senior Sangh functionary, Suresh Soni. Sushma’s name was earlier broached by Advani. But she declined his offer, signalling that in the power sweepstakes, she opted to be on the RSS’s right side.

Former president M. Venkaiah Naidu and the general secretary (organisation), Ramlal, were part of the meeting at Jaitley’s house.

Word reached from Nagpur, which houses the Sangh headquarters, that Rajnath was the RSS’s choice and, by implication, the BJP should endorse his candidacy without ado, the sources said.

Jaitley did have a patchy relationship with Rajnath in the latter’s earlier tenure. But sources said he too figured out that a crisis had to be averted and, in the circumstances, the leader from Uttar Pradesh was perhaps the best bet.

Sources said Rajnath was on the Sangh’s radar for the past few days. In his first innings, Rajnath had ejected Narendra Modi from the BJP’s top decision-making panel, the parliamentary board, ostensibly to please the RSS whose relations with Modi had then plunged to a nadir.

Rajnath has since made up with Modi, around whom the BJP’s Prime Minister debates are swirling.

Many Congress leaders were praying that Gadkari remains BJP president and a permanent punching bag. Asked if the tax raids backfired, a Congress leader demurred and said Gadkari could not claim the moral high ground since he did not voluntarily step down but was hounded out.

Most of current BJP leaders in the above article should be happy to get a chance to serve Bharat Mata as cabinet ministers and better start finalizing their vision for various ministries - infrastructure, human resources, finance, foreign policy, home affairs, defense etc instead of wasting everyone's time.

This article by MMS's ex-media adviser says that out pretty clearly:

Decoding Manmohan Singh’s red lines
Many eyebrows were raised in Delhi and around the world when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asserted that “it cannot be business as usual” with Pakistan after the recent incident on the Line of Control (LoC). Merely because these remarks came after the National Security Adviser briefed Opposition leaders about the government’s approach to the issue, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha took credit for the Prime Minister’s tough stance, while welcoming it. That Dr. Singh adopted a more nuanced approach and not the sledge-hammer response that the Bharatiya Janata Party and hotheads in the media had sought has since become clear.

The many expressions of surprise, accompanied by gratuitous remarks about Dr. Singh’s ‘uncharacteristic’ toughness, ignore the fact that on vital national security and foreign policy issues, the Prime Minister has always drawn red lines and stuck to them. These red lines have been drawn both with respect to political parties and ministerial colleagues at home and foreign governments. When it comes to foreign policy, Dr. Singh has jealously guarded Prime Ministerial turf and defended the national interest.
The most dramatic event occurred when the Left Front government informed the Centre that it would not be able to ensure law and order at the Kalaikunda air force base where a group of CPI(M) protesters had planned to gather to disrupt joint air exercises between the Indian Air Force and the United States Air Force. Reminding Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya that no State government can prevent the Centre from conducting defence and foreign policy, Dr. Singh threatened to impose President’s rule in West Bengal if the State government failed to discharge its constitutional responsibility of maintaining law and order, especially near a defence installation. Not only did Mr. Bhattacharya fall in line, the CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat called on Dr. Singh and gave his personal assurance that there would be no disruption of the exercises.
One can give several other examples where Dr. Singh may have initially stepped back in the face of opposition at home but eventually walked the talk. Faced with criticism at home, even from his own party, for the famous India-Pakistan joint statement at Sharm-el-Shaikh, in July 2009, Dr. Singh not only defended his initiative twice in a month in Parliament but also continued his dialogue with his Pakistani counterpart.
Externally also, Dr. Singh has not shied away from drawing red lines. When President Barack Obama sought to send Richard Holbrooke to India as a special envoy to discuss Kashmir, the U.S. was told in no uncertain terms that Mr. Holbrooke would not be welcome.

On another occasion, when the Chinese government publicly warned India against permitting the Dalai Lama’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Singh made bold to let China know that it cannot dictate which part of India the Dalai Lama can or cannot travel to. A similar red line was drawn on the issue of the attendance of the Indian ambassador at the ceremony where a Chinese dissident was to be awarded the Nobel Peace prize and on China stamping its version of India’s map on Indian passports.

Any analyst of foreign affairs can list several such examples, based on media reports, where Dr. Singh has jealously guarded prime ministerial turf and the national interest in the conduct of foreign and defence policy.
With Pakistan, Dr. Singh has adequately demonstrated his ability to overcome domestic opposition to his peace initiatives. If the Pervez Musharraf-Manmohan Singh dialogue reached a dead end it was not for want of resolve on Dr. Singh’s part. Rather, it was because of the turn that the domestic situation in Pakistan had taken in 2007. Despite the November 2008 attack in Mumbai, Dr. Singh has shown consistency and determination in taking the dialogue process forward.

But, even Pakistan has to respect Dr. Singh’s red lines, just as President Obama and President Hu Jintao were required to. That thinking appears to have triggered the ‘no business as usual’ remark and it has had the intended impact.

Read this from Manish Kumar of Chouthi Duniya

BJP-RSS War is in full swing!!! Advani miscalculated the move of RSS. He thought that by removing Gadkari he would be able to make Sushma the Party President and make things difficult for Modi. But, in the last moment RSS replaced Gadkari with Rajnath.

The stature of Rajnath among the top BJP leader is such that during 2009 Loksabha Election, he was president of BJP, Arun Jaitley did not call him in any important meeting. When Rajnath protested and asserted his Presidency, Arun Jaitley openly ignored the meeting.

In 2009, though Rajnath was the President of the Party but he was not part of the top decision making body of the party during Election 2009. Noone consulted him on big or small matters. He was not even on the Posters and Media. He was given a Rajput dominated Seat in UP and he was happy with it. He won because of delimitation. He was not even considered for the post of Leader of Oppostion in Lok Sabha.

Its because of his incapability D-4 ( Jaitley, Sushma, Anand and Naidu) became powerful and authoritarian. It was the failure of Rajnath as President to lead the Party that forced Mohan Bhagwat to declare that BJP is sick and needs an operation, a surgery. Gadakari was sent as Doctor. He failed. Now, RSS appointed same failed Rajnath as President of the Party. Cat and Dog's fight will start sooner than expected.

As far as Rajnath Singh is considered, he is not a mass leader. Many people rightly believe that its because of Rajnath Singh, BJP became a party No. 4 in UP. He also had a parrallel Rath-Yatra during UP Assembly Election which was utter failure. Rajnath Singh is a neither a campaigner nor he has any organizational ability. He is just a UP based caste leader with no hold over his own caste. Most of the people, including BJP workers do not even know the name of his hometown or constituency. Outside, UP he has no national appeal what so ever. He is a master manipulator and believes in the destiny. A very reliable person told me few moths back that an astrologer has told him that one day he will become the Prime Minister of India.

Indian Politics is a game of impossibility and opportunity. Who know?

Paid Media will relentlessly hound BJP if NG continue to the President. So he has to go. Rajnath is good option as he is close to RSS and acceptable to almost every one. Has good relationship with NDA partners which is very improtant. With Rajnath as president and Kalyan back in BJP it may even do well in UP. So not a bad development. We need to see what they will do for PM candidate.

Why does not BJP conduct some kind of elections, than RSS anointing some individual. It is a tamasha from RSS and BJP. And when are they going to stop wearing these silly knickers?

I don't know enough about Rajnath Singh but to me this seems like a very bad move. This is a throwback to the past kind of move, precisely when India is at a juncture where folks are looking for fresh faces and fresh ideas.

Just doesn't gel with the image that the BJP needs to project as the party of the future.

My Telugu roots guy Chakravarthy put softcopy of the book to refute 101 lies by Telangana separatists. I'm not sure whether he can keep it is as permanent link.

Sushma/Jaitley - i can understand how they are in D4, they were student leaders/lawyers and powerful orators, but why does Ananth Kumar have such heft?

under Rajnath's Presidency, we can be sure that Swaraj-Jaitley duo will become one of the de-facto "pillars" of BJP.
so now we have Advani, Swaraj-Jaitley, Modi, and RSS: a Quadrangular contest for power and influence within the BJP.

the real question is who is the guiding force behind each of these 4 power centers?
who is the force which is feeding them info, on which they are acting and reacting?

if the Jaitley-Swaraj duo attain a certain minimum threshold, they might even vie for the Gaddi.

and if there are external fingers in the pie, Swaraj might become a strong candidate for a Janata-type split of BJP.
this is what worries me the most. we should watch out for indications from media. if the paid servants start posing the duo or Swaraj or Jaitley individually in a different paint and start boxing them as a separate category from the "mainstream saffron fascist" BJP, then we have a problem. a real problem with consequences. it means that BJP is headed for split.

I think it's time for some of the other "stars" of BJP who have so far remained away from media glare, to start showing their stature.
it is important to muddy the waters so that the externals and vested internals have a basket full of choices and directions.
more choices mean more chaos. more chaos means more chance of keeping the agenda under the radar, while pretending "secular modernism". If I was a PIF, then I would try my best to start propping up other "pillars" and "stars" in BJP and the broader Saffron organizations.

Why couldn't INC system put NM behind bars yet? They could always cook up some witnesses, plant fake evidence of corruption or criminality, muddy waters enough to produce circumstantial evidence at least...why didn't they go for the jugular in NM's case? I have no doubt they must've tried.

I also have no doubt that at Diggy's signal, Sanjiv Butt will swear by everything he holds holey, in the middle of the supreme court, that he personally saw NM tear foetesus out of mainority women inside the police control room only.... media din will provide supporting choreography and live fusion music, assorted NGOs & sthink tanks will puke bile, etc etc. I can see it all happen clear as day... why hasn't Diggy done it yet?
he has no need to do so. The will fix modi using the lokaykt. The SCs judgement is a pointer in that direction. If Modi doesnot go to the constituutional court over that judgement. He will deserve whats comming his way.

Speaking of D-4, are Ananth and Naidu really heavy-wights in the party ? I would discount them...

As for Jaitley and Sushma - have always been very impressed with Jaitley for his logic and articulation abilities. Sushma also purely for her amazing Sanskritic Hindi diction and delivery style - which I really like. I also think both are highly aligned with Modi (in the case of Jaitley we know that for a fact) and would actually work very well with him as part of the leadership team.

Given the lack of outrage over Beheading of Indian soldiers and calling Hindus as running terror camps without any arrests and proof by the Indian HM, I think the RSS and BJP have realized that the Indian Public mood is not in their favor.

Given with the Indian Public largely condoning and accepting visa on arrival and many civil and criminal procedures which border on traitorous Behavior, I think it is best to keep Narendra Modi as CM of Gujarat and no need to project him as PM candidate for 2014.

I think it is better the Indian public face the full extent of disaster the INC policies are with UPA-3 or 3rd front.

I doubt even her shadow will follow in case she decides to split. Anybody in BJP challenging Sangh is like bulb challenging electricity.

SwamyG wrote:Some of us arm-chair strategists, are simply being just arm-chair strategists.

8) Utilizing public distrust on politicians. Equal {It does not matter if INC and its alliances have committed more scams. Public associate politicians and corruption}

3 reasons for this

1) Basically INC is better at Politics but is worse than Governance. Conversely they are bad for country but good for their own Interests.

2) 2 Generations of Babudom, Media, NGO, education system etc. has fed from their Hands, the will not want a change in the equilibrium wanting more rule of law, honesty and competition to work

3) Over 65+ years INC has deep pockets that for ex. Bollywood producers etc are funded by them, they dont want cheque payments or Official industry and don't mind making loss making movies as long as it is good propaganda. Thats why Bollywood immediately jumps to defend INC foreign policy or attack Baba Ramdev when his attacks drive close. Why a Rakhi Sawant will say want to marry Baba Ramdev for his money, but will never say marry Rahul Ghandi for his money
