I want to buttress the above with a few examples.

1. Yahya Khan -
Pakistan was defeated on 16 December 1971, with 93,000 of its army officers in Dhaka turning prisoners-of-war, and East Pakistan seceding to become Bangladesh. Yahya handed over the presidency to Bhutto and stepped down as army chief in disgrace.[6]

As the new president, Bhutto stripped Yahya of all previous military decorations and placed him under house arrest for most of the 1970s.[6] When Bhutto was overthrown in a military coup in 1977, Yahya was released by General Fazle Haq.[2] He died in 1980.[7] He is viewed largely negatively by Pakistani historians, and is considered among the least successful of the country's leaders.[8]
Lucky did not decorate a lamp post.

2. JAB -
Appointed Foreign Minister in 1963, Bhutto was a proponent of Operation Gibraltar in Indian-occupied Kashmir, leading to war with India in 1965.
...
On 3 September the Army arrested Bhutto again on charges of authorising the murder of a political opponent in March 1974. A 35-year-old politician Ahmed Raza Kasuri and his family had been ambushed, leaving Kasuri's father, Nawab Muhammad Ahmad Khan Kasuri, dead. Kasuri claimed that he was the actual target, accusing Bhutto of orchestrating the attack. Kasuri later claimed that he had been the target of 15 assassination attempts.
...
During 12 days of proceedings, the Supreme Court concluded that the President of Pakistan can change death sentence into life imprisonment.[113] Per-Zadah filed an application to then-Chief Martial Law Administrator.[113] However, General Zia-ul-Haq did not act immediately and claimed that the application had gone missing. [113]
...
On 4 April 1979, the day Bhutto was executed, The New York Times published its report after following the entire chronological events surrounding Bhutto's trial which stated in part " The way they did it, (Bhutto).. is going to grow into a legend that will some day backfire." (See below for Zia-ul-Haq  )
3. Zia-ul-Haq
...
before opting for Pakistan in 1947 and fighting in the war against India in 1965.
...
Aided by the United States and Saudi Arabia, Zia coordinated the Afghan mujahideen against the Soviet occupation throughout the 1980s. This culminated in the USSR's defeat and withdrawal in 1989, but also led to the proliferation of millions of refugees, with heroin and weaponry into Pakistan's frontier province. Zia also bolstered ties with China and emphasised Pakistan's role in the Islamic world, while relations with India worsened amid the Siachen conflict and accusations that Pakistan was aiding the Khalistan movement.
...
but decried for weakening democratic institutions and passing laws encouraging Islamic fundamentalism.[8]
...
The war left deep scars to the Pakistan's society with the menace of Kalashnikov (AK-47 assault rifle) culture spreading all over the country.[64] It is estimated that there are currently 20 million firearms in Pakistan, which has a population of about 175 million (as of July 2010) i.e., almost every ninth person has a firearm, most likely an automatic one.[65] The rise of the illicit drug trade and its spread through Pakistan to the rest of the world increased tremendously during the Soviet-Afghan war. Afghanistan's drug industry began to take off after the Soviet invasion in 1979. Desperate for cash with which to buy weapons, various elements in the anti-Communist resistance turned to the drug trade. This was tolerated if not condoned by their American sponsors such as the CIA.[66]

Two Afghan Mujahideen groups later morphed into Jihadist outfits in the shape of Taliban and Al-Qaeda in the early 1990s. For its turn in Pakistan, the war in West Pakistan, hampered the Pakistan's economy, dismantle the civil society, and as well as resulted 3,000 deaths for Pakistan's Armed Forces. General Zia's morphed Jihadist furthered shocked country's pillars, and faced a wave of suicide bombings from the period 2007 to 2011, resulting in more than 30,000 civilian deaths in Pakistan.
...
Zia died in a plane crash on 17 August 1988. After witnessing a US M1 Abrams tank demonstration in Bahawalpur, Zia had left the small town in the Punjab province by C-130B Hercules aircraft. The aircraft departed from Bahawalpur Airport and was expected to reach Islamabad International Airport.[78] Shortly after a smooth takeoff, the control tower lost contact with the aircraft. Witnesses who saw the plane in the air afterward claim it was flying erratically, then nosedived and exploded on impact. In addition to Zia, 31 others died in the plane crash, including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Akhtar Abdur Rahman, close associate of Zia, Brigadier Siddique Salik, the American Ambassador to Pakistan Arnold Lewis Raphel
...
Maj Gen (retd) Mahmud Ali Durrani claimed later that reports of Israeli and Indian involvement in Zia ul Haq’s plane crash were only speculations and he rejected the statement that was given by former president Ghulam Ishaq Khan that the presidential plane was blown up in the air. Durrani stated that Zia's plane was destroyed while landing.[86](Why kolaveri di on India Ms. Robin Raphel didi ?

"Nawaz was overthrown because he wanted friendly relations with India" thesis is Nandi droppings.

Basically Paki army wants what it wants. It lets the civvies do all the chai-biskoot, but the army calls all the shots. Zardari for example was favorably disposed towards massa, but could do didly squat when the Army blockaded NATO routes. While Nawaz was doing chai-biskoot with ABV, army was invading Kargil. This fits in perfectly with their modus operandi. Afterwards when TFTAs were sent downhill ski-ing, they were entering a dangerous phase.....

....The dangerous phase was that news of their downhill ski was going to leak out, news of the number of TFTAs pest-e-shaheeded was going to leak out. Anything like this is prime fodder for politicians and it is unpredictable how it would play out. For example, the opposition could allege that the ruling party took the country to war, lost it and got many soldiers killed. Nawaz would then be forced to conduct an "inquiry". Or maybe Nawaz might have browned his chaddis thinking "They took the country to war without telling me, how simple is it for them to overthrow me when I least expect" and then try some maneuverings. Maybe the kernails in the Army was pissed with the Jernails for having lost the war and colluding with the civvies to teach jernails a lesson. This was the reason Mush had to overthrow Nawaz. Add to that a personal element is also involved. As it would become clear (by 2013), Mush doesnt give a rat's musharraf about either the country or the army. The fellow has an outsize ego and would have sold his dismissal as a dishonor to the army and didnt want to leave quietly.

As ramana-ji had mentioned, the coup was due to the defeat and nothing else.

All things considered, it was actually a success. Nobody in Pakistan is talking about Kargil, the money and lives lost and how their army has maintained a perfect record of losing every fight. If the army hadnt conducted a coup, 15 years later, by 2013, their reputation would have been in tatters. By cleverly buying off journalists, their role in the current crisis of dragging the country into a war and into the lap of massa is largely ignored. Zardari (and now Nawaz) is being blamed for power cuts, but how many power plants did Musharraf build from 1998 to 2008? This is the difference between civilian rule and army rule.

Civvies are atleast scared of losing power and try to figure out which issue is going to become an election issue and try to remedy that. Any civilian administration worth its salt would realize that power cut issue affects everyone and is enough to overthrow the government. So when Unkil comes bearing gifts and baksheesh, they would have asked for atleast a few power plants. Massa would have gladly obliged. Send a billion or two in Pakistan's way, and get it back through their own corporations which build those power plants. Instead army gives diddly squat about retaining power and asked Massa for Self propelled arty, AMRAAM missiles and F16s. Sure they can shoot down Sukhois with it, but try shooting mosquitos that is feeding off of every Paki like Pakis feed off the world.

You have to appreciate Kayani for being a smooth operator. he plays the puppet master behind the scenes behaves like he supports "democracy" and lets civvies take all the blame for no electricity, polio and bombs going off everywhere. And now no money -- Pakis have to make another trip to IMF. The last time they didnt get a loan from IMF was because they didnt want to impose value added tax, sales tax and increase power and energy tariffs. Apparently even the likes of Birkin babe and Rehman Malik havent paid any taxes for the past many years -- they are unlikely to start paying now. Army too is to blame for this. They took the tax body and turned it into a witch hunting body to dole out favors to Army pasand people (by not collecting taxes from them) and to haul up errant people. Everyone complains Pakis pay no taxes, nobody notices that there is no department in Pakistan that collects taxes.

Strange that mango Paki hasnt woken up to all this. But if Pakis had the sense to see this, they wouldnt be Pakis at all. Like a wise man once said "Army is like Anna Kournikova. Hasnt wont a thing, but gives every Pakistani a hard-on"

Kalyan Das temple: An abandoned shelter for the blind
http://blogs.tribune.com.pk/story/16522 ... the-blind/
A trek through the old areas of Rawalpindi reveals many examples of ancient architecture; silent testimonies of our heritage, narrating tales of our past and stories of our land. Unfortunately, these exponents of our history are in a state of utter neglect. And a cry out for immediate attention by the authorities is much needed. In the middle of the area that is commonly known as Kohati Bazaar, one can see the dome of a temple which is almost hidden by the high walls of an academic institution. Here stands one of the beautiful, historic landmarks of the city: Kalyan Das Temple. This temple was named after a generous resident of Rawalpindi, Kalyan Das, who laid its foundation stone in 1850s, and as confirmed by the board – it is said that it was completed in 1880.The Kalyan Das temple is believed to have had more than a 100 rooms and was spread over an area of about seven acres, besides a vast pond around the main temple building.Like many other temples of the city, during the partition of India, Kalyan Das temple was also left abandoned as the Hindu population left the city. Today this magnificent architectural piece still stands tall but the complex it is in is a state of decay.
The beautiful paintings engraved on the walls of the temple are fading away; the damp roof of the main architecture pours in rainy days. The rooms of the main complex are used as store rooms and are kept locked. The
idols are missing but their marks attract the attention of visitors. The many spires in the temple complex are still imposing but 60 years of neglect has made them colourless. The white paint used to brighten the complex has, in fact, buried its original floral work. However, after partition the temple remained functional. In 1956, it was taken over by the Auqaf Department and survived as a place of worship until 1958 when a school for the blind, started by Begum Farooqi, was shifted into the complex. At that time it had a Baradari with rooms for worshippers, a pond and an Ashram. In 1973, the school was taken over by the Punjab government. A new building was erected for the school in 1986 during the time of General Mohammad Ziaul Haq, when the wave of Islamisation was in full bloom. It was the time when the original buildings surrounding the temple, the rooms and the pond were demolished and deprived of their beauty.According to him, some people in the school’s administration are thinking of demolishing the temple to increase the space for the school. But there are some good people too who do not wish to do so, he added, urging that this heritage building should be renovated so that it doesn’t meet any mishap

note: a kabuli vija entitles the holder to inspect a lampost at close quarters, a method pioneered by another former president - Najibullah

Nailed! FATA: Behind Pakistan's Iron Curtain
The FATA agency of Waziristan is sealed behind an Iron Curtain controlled by the Pakistan Army. Journalists are forbidden entry, except accompanied by army handlers.
The Pashtun people of FATA tell the story differently
Pakistan's policy towards Afghanistan, called "strategic depth," is about aggression.
Pakistan Army are depopulating FATA's border regions to facilitate a post-ISAF invasion of Afghanistan.
Pashtun scholar and attorney, Muhammad Zubair Mahsud, explained that, since 2004, the army has periodically air-dropped leaflets instructing residents to evacuate in advance of anti-Taliban "cleansing operations."
jihadists and their families are waved along to the front of the line and given safe passage out of the agency
Pakistan wants the U.S. to stop gumming up the strategic depth works. Therefore, its propagandists fulfill with grand showmanship the anti-military expectations of American and European leftists.
Code Pink
(Imran) Khan pretends to be anti-Taliban, but last year he encouraged them to wage jihad in Afghanistan, ignoring the fact that most Taliban targets are civilian.
In return for his friendship, the Taliban gave Imran Khan's right-wing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf political party a free pass during Pakistan's parliamentary campaign season
Many Americans protest the drones on the basis that the United States is not at war with Pakistan. But few noticed when, at the signing of a lucrative "peace deal" with Taliban commander Nek Muhammad in 2004, General Safdar Hussain made an informal declaration of war, encouraging the Taliban to continue waging jihad against the United States in Afghanistan.
"Independent journalists, if allowed free coverage, could easily learn that the story of drones killing thousands of civilians is hogwash."Pakistani Pashtuns consistently report that drone strikes have not killed thousands of civilians and are extremely precise (able to hit a terrorist target in one room, while leaving the rest of the house in tact)
The women of Code Pink were denied an opportunity to learn the truth. They were instead taken to a meeting hall filled with government shills, who joined Medea Benjamin, in chanting against the drones; the entire trip staged to conform to their expectations and ISI policy.

Immy the dimwit: Nailed! Peshawar Declaration
The real one by Amn Tehreek, the fake by PTI
The participants of the workshop / conference agreed unanimously that the current wave of terrorism emanates mainly from two sources i.e. Al-Qaeda and the Strategic Depth Policy of Pakistan.
Al-Qaeda is new form of Arab expansionism under the garb of global Islam
The second ingredient contributing to this kind of terrorism is the Strategic Depth Policy of Pakistan Army. The purpose of this policy is to use Jihadi culture in order to counter India, protect nuclear weapons, subjugate Afghanistan and making it the fifth province of Pakistan or give it Azad Kashmir like status. The policy visualized in 1995 that the Central Asian Muslim states would be made Pakistan’s “client” states.
In Afghanistan terrorism was started in 1972. First of all, Gulbadin Hikmatyar was brought to Peshawar and Colonel Imam (of Pakistan Army) was sent to Afghanistan.
Read on. There's more.

PTI MPA gunned down in Hangu - Dawn
Newly elected Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) provincial lawmaker Fareed Khan was shot dead Monday by unknown gunmen in Hangu in restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, police said.

Fareed Khan was shot near his residence near Singair village in Hangu. Police said his driver and bodyguard were also injured in the attack.

Khan had won the May 11 general election from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu-1 PK-42 seat as an independent candidate, and had later joined the PTI to become a member of the government in the provincial assembly.

So far there has been no claim from any militant organisation for the killing.

Fareed Khan was described by many as an honest and a ‘man of the masses’.

Just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me if there has ever been a case where the "unknown gunmen" have been apprehended or any suspects tried in any of these drive-by shootings in Paki land?

Seems to me that the SOP has become that "unknown gunmen" will shoot and kill whoever they have to, the police will arrive and declare the victim dead and list out the wounded and go back to their station.

The Pakis have truly discovered the real art of democracy: if your opponent wins the popular vote, just have him shot and killed on his way to work.

Problem solved onlee.

Right!

Maybe its just me, but the rate of drive-by shootings (and kidnappings) by "unknown gunmen" seems to be exponentially increasing in Paki land almost to the point of being trivial occurrences.

Makes the Dirty war of Argentina look almost jovial by comparison!

Who will stand for Ahmadis in Pakistan?

Ahmaki Bin Danga Vs Ahmadi Bin Nanga
Ahmadis are scared that using their sect as a political tool for votes will lead the youth and the nation into hyper-radicalisation, and Ahmadis will become the natural target of frustration. “You know that the German Jews couldn’t have predicted the coming of the Holocaust. It began with years of systematic social isolation, hatred, and conspiracies against them, and then Hitler came, and we saw what happened. I see Pakistan heading towards that for us.” As unbelievable as this statement from one of the Ahmadis who participated in WWII on the side of the Allies appears, in the past few months, while the nation had been busy with elections, Ahmadis are being silently targeted, not only by religious extremists, but by government itself in all the major cities, especially in Lahore under the interim setup of Chief Minister Najam Sethi. However, none of the atrocities are being reported as ‘breaking news’ on the mainstream media outlets.
“In the past two weeks our mosques have been raided by the police, our publication shops turned into a mess, and we have been barred and threatened by the police not to have any of our literature at our home, nor have any religious meetings in our centres.” An Ahmadi in a position of authority who requested anonymity explained in frustration: “They have even told us that they have the list of all addresses of Ahmadis, and they will raid houses to confiscate any literature,” which gave a glimpse of the Nazi-era style of discrimination against the Jews. “We are being systematically forced to leave this country, this land. More than Ahmadi, I’m a Punjabi and my family has lived on this land for centuries, and today I don’t have an option but to leave.” Tears rolled out of this old man, whose father was a wealthy businessman at the time of partition and sold all his possessions to give funds to the Pakistan Muslim League. Today, he is being forced out of the land of his forefathers.
The discrimination does not stop here, as another tragic event took place a week before the elections in Gulshan-e-Ravi, Lahore, where the police raided an Ahmadi centre and arrested the people who were offering their prayers. On top of charging them u  nder the Hudood law of ‘imitating Muslim practices’, the men arrested were also accused of conspiring against the state and for terrorism. The arrested persons included an 83-year-old man, and a few minors. During the court proceedings, the High Court dismissed the case, calling it a politically motivated attempt by people in the area, but in a matter of hours, after severe pressure from right wingers, the judge refused to give bail to the detainees. According to the lawyer who is defending the Ahmadis, “No judge is willing to take a stand for Ahmadis against these right wing mullahs,” who threaten the judges and get their way. One is forced to ask this simple question: on whose authority is all this being done, and why is the government so hopeless against these right wingers? Is it also equally involved?
I asked an Ahmadi for his opinion on this question to which he responded, “We are political suicide for any politician in Pakistan. Even a dictator like Musharraf who genuinely felt the pain for us, and during whose tenure, in spite of whatever was happening in Pakistan, minorities were protected and discriminated against less, could not reverse the constitutional discrimination against us. He had to bow down to the religious fanatics at last, the same way Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave in back in the 1970s.”

Following received by E-Mail :

White Elephants.

Fakir S.Ayazuddin

The elections are over, and the politicians are looking excitedly towards solving the problems facing the country. And as concerned Pakistani citizens, that braved the heat and the fear, to cast my precious vote, I feel obligated to forward my suggestions to the winners.

The Prime Minister elect Nawaz Sharif is making all the right noises, while attempting to right the ship of State. He has correctly named the white elephants that are bleeding the country. PIA, Pakistan Steel, Pakistan Railways etc. However the biggest white elephant is the city of Karachi. It is the most important revenue generator, which is running at only 25 per cent of its capacity. The importance of Karachi can be gauged from the transient population fully thirty percent that comes to Karachi from all parts of Pakistan. All these persons have travelled to Karachi in search of their livelihood, whether daily or monthly. Some have brought their families, and some as bachelors.

The main point is that 20 million people consider Karachi their home, and their livelihood is generated from Karachi. If the revenue is down by 80 percent, obviously the effect on the population would be disastrous.

For Karachi to have achieved this status is remarkable, and the success is mainly due to the hard work of the population. It has also attracted the attention of the political parties who would like to participate in the benefits thereof. In such a large city, the urban politics is intertwined in the religious, legal and moral fabric of the city. Not to forget the criminal elements, who realize the huge profits to be made from the city. The MQM established its hegemony over the city, by using fear, and strong arm tactics. This fear permeated through the Province, and even though the speeches by Altaf were made from the safety of London, the underlying threat was made clear. The murder of Zahra Shahid the PTI lady was another message, reinforced by the speech that followed. However, the resulting turnout on the 11th May was a heartening riposte to the MQM threats. It was Karachi refusing to bow to threats. Unfortunately Mr Altaf is now identified by his threatening demeanour, and it will take much convincing, for it is now the call sign of Mr Altaf.

Similarly the collection of Bhatta, is also now closely identified with the MQM. These criminal acts always have political blessingsfrom powerful circles. Whether the MQM was the beneficiary or not, but being part of the Government for the last five years, they must take their share of the blame. The 10 bodies a day that showed on the streets of Karachi, were responsible for the spread of fear. For this air of fear the MQM must take full responsibility. The parties should realize that a peaceful Karachi is much more lucrative generating Maximum revenue, than at only twenty percent.

The British Government must also rein in its citizen who was granted asylum in the UK from his alleged opponents, and is now spreading fear in Karachi. HMG realizes only too well the danger of harbouring such persons, and the time has come for HMG to ensure that no threats should be seen as emanating from people under the protection of Her Majesty's Government.

Nawaz Sharif as PM designate should concentrate on bringing Karachi back from darkness, to its former status as the City of Lights. With no element of fear. And of course no extortion.

Nawaz Sharif's financial managers have come forward with a brilliant plan to float bonds to clear the circular debt. Without borrowing from any external source. In one fell swoop Nawaz has switched on the lights. The next step will be when the new power Policy is formulated; we shall see the Stock Exchange play its role.

Till now the Stock Exchange has been just a casino where select Punters gambled their way into fortunes, by manipulating the shares as and when they liked--called insider trading. The stock market in any country is supposed to create capital for investment in Industry. In Pakistan no IPOs have been launched and all the inflows have gone into the market and stayed there. This is a criminal misuse of funds that are supposed to keep new Industries coming up. In the last five years no new industry has been launched. A disgraceful state of affairs. So when we have Bankers being awarded Gold Medals one wonders, what the medal represents.

Similarly, the KSE is the best performing Exchange in the world is a, joke. It is the world’s biggest laundry, for money, and a special bill was passed allowing profits to be question-free if the funds had come through the Stock Market!

As I have said earlier, Nawaz Sharif will never allow any harm to come to Pakistan, I can see the mechanism that will be employed by his Financial managers, to bring this country to a financial upturn. The White elephants will now be our pillars of plenty.

Paki hard-ons are triggered by any signs of life or death. Think about it :)

IIRC, Anna Kournikova was also a virus in internet parlance. STD takes on new khujli meaning :)

Paki's don't face a land invasion from India, they face one from afghanistan fueled by pashtun nationalism. Depopulating FATA and filling it with sarkari pasand jihadis are their equivalent of ditch-cum-bund canal defenses on their afghan border.

Why are they resisting tall, fair horse riding invaders from central Asia? Aren't they their own brethren?

Anujan wrote:"Nawaz was overthrown because he wanted friendly relations with India" thesis is Nandi droppings.

Hasnt wont a thing, but gives every Pakistani a hard-on"
Enlightening post!

The way for India, (or Umrika or even Afghanistan ) to put Pak on back foot could be to open Indian official enquiries into Pak Army aspects of Pak misadventures. For eg, an Indian govt enquiry into Pak Army role in Kargil 1999 or Gilgit 1988. Or say Afghan govt enquiry into Pak Army involvement in Jalalabad 198? Or Kunduz airlift 2001. Pak Army will have kittens and would be unable to do anything about these deliberate actions by other countries' governments.

^Who is resisting TFTA future FiL and SiL (all in one ) of Pakis.
Pakis are still waiting for the (A)Mehdi to come down the hill with his force to take over India.
Off course Pakis would bend over and offer themselves but misfortunately no CA invaders any longer feel interested in Pakis except for few vagabond chechans and Egyptians.

Do Pakis construe Afghans beneath themselves on the Islamic totem pole like Bangali and Bihari Muslims ?

Paki should consider this a Holy occassion and give these new De Jure Fathers proper Qaasim welcum by taking ancestral traditional MOMO= Mouth Or Mush Open position. Paki are the only Only South Asians to claim the 7200% authorship of Fourfathers to De Jure Fathers to Core Fathers and Sure Fathers equation.
