That's what we have been saying for sometime. The campaign is not reaching out to the aam admi specially rural areas. You need padayatras throughout India like YSR and CBN have done in AP.

IMO Modi should not venture into padyatras or mass contact programmes..His security paramount. His cadre can do the explanation to the poor on some to one basis and make all his speeches televised

Someone was wondering here about Arun Shourie's role in pre-poll and post-poll scenario. So just to update that AS did a meeting with NM a day before in Gandhinagar. Don't know what was it about and its outcome.

Ah, that reminds me of Vasundhara's parivartan yatra and Advani's rath yatra. Even Mamta walked a lot in rural areas. Quite evidently, results were positive in all the cases.
It seems such root reaching yatras on ground zero are still underplayed. Or perhaps most of the netas don't want to do the hard work (not addressing NaMo here).

To add, NaMo has done many a Yatra himself, though his political career, including the one with Swami Vivekananda as the message, just before the last Guj elections.

I am sure the import of the same is not lost on him. But I suspect he will need to stop being a CM of Gujarat and full time central politician if he wants to do a country wide yatra. (simple question of time on his hands)

I'm sure he must've made preparations already. Besides, Gujarat is not sustained by his personal self (in practical sense) but instead by the environment and system that his government has setup in the State. I think his work in Gujarat is mostly done and he has provided a good direction. He can do the rest from PM's chair as well.
Perhaps a likeminded person would be posted in his place around elections.
But I'm not sure if he'll leave his CM chair months before Lok Sabha elections. Does anyone know what the law says on the timing of that, when should one have to leave CM chair to contest for or mount the PM chair?

Just to emphasize the above point, NM did TWO yatras before Dec 2012 elections in Gujarat. People also were worried about peaking a bit too early, but he proved them wrong by doing a double yatra. Is it physically feasible to have a pan-Bharat yatra?

Virendra-ji; this is not the question of law at all (he can chose to be a PM even as a CM, for 6 months, if I am not wrong) -- the issue is more of how much daily involvement he has with Gujarat and how he chooses to manage his time going forward.

Padyatra's across just the north are full time 3 month jobs.

He doesnt have to until the last moment. The only rule is he cant be an mp and an mla at the same time, i.e. he has the time until the moment he swears in.

3D hologram will be true Bharat Yatra of NM. Even if only 1000 people attend to each of such speech, it is worth its cost since it saves the most important thing during the election, which is time. Does anybody have fair idea how much a single event would cost?

He has to take the risk. In a poor, populous country like India there is no alternative to mass contact.

Not entirely correct. Remember Girdhar Gomang of Odhisha who voted against ABV. He was MLA (That too a CM) and MP at the same time.
One IMO can stay in both the positions for 6 months.

1. Poverty is a state of mind. Shows the poverty of his mind.

2. High health care costs can and sometimes do push people into penury, but that is different from poverty at a general level. Shows the poverty of the ideas and application on his advisory team.
