Bodh Gaya blasts: Hindu priest arrested

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the serial bomb blasts at Bodh Gaya's Mahabodhi temple, has arrested a Hindu priest, Arup Brahmachari, police said Wednesday.

"The NIA team, with the help of the police, arrested Arup Brahmachari who was absconding after the blasts," an officer of the Bodh Gaya police station said.

Brahmachari, hailing from West Bengal and staying at Bodh Gaya, has been lodged in Rampur police station of Gaya town due to security reasons, the officer said.

"The NIA team will interrogate him," he added.

A breakthrough still eludes the NIA, investigating the July 7 blasts in which 10 bombs exploded while three other devices were defused.

The NIA had interrogated several people, including members of the Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee and the temple watch and ward staff.

The NIA also detained at least six people, including Vinod Mistri, a suspect. He was picked up at least three times during the last one month before being released.

SSridhar wrote:Huge haul of gelatine seized in Tirunelveli - The Hindu

This case is different from the normal cases of seizure of geletine sticks held in stock illegally by quarry operators and explosives distributors. I suspect that this is a fall-out of the investigation following a spate of killings of BJP and Hindu outfits in TN.
As suspected, the geleatine stick seizure case is indeed helping in unravelling the spate of murders of Hindu leaders in TN.

Suspect in Bangalore blast and TN murders picked up - The Hindu

Police sources said the suspicion about Basheer was that he should be in the know of things relating to the whereabouts of four most wanted suspects in the two murder cases and also in the Bangalore blast that took place near the Bharathia Janata Party (BJP) in Malleswaram.

Securing this accused will help in resolving the Vellore murder case and some more clues on Bangalore blast and Salem auditor murder case, sleuths said.

The TN police has thrown enormous resources at resolving this case and yet it is only making a slow progress indicating the deep conspiracy and network of these jihadist wahhabi terrorists.
Now, more action on these issues. The scene shifts rapidly to Coimbatore. The auditor Ramesh murder took place in Salem. The investigation moved to Melappalayam(Tirunelveli), Madurai, Salem itself and now Coimbatore.

Suspected Fundamentalist Held; Pistol, Ammunition Recovered - VS Palaniappan, The Hindu
The Special Investigation Division (SID) of the Crime Branch–CID on Wednesday arrested Mohammed Ansar (38) of Coimbatore and recovered a 7.65 mm pistol and 53 rounds of ammunition that was dumped by his family in drainage. The recovery came after a 42-hour-long search in the drainage in Arul Nagar in South Ukkadam area of Coimbatore.

He is the sixth suspect to be secured by the SID after the arrest of five from Melappalayam, leading to the recovery of 17 kg of explosives. One of the five arrested on July 27, Mohammed Thasin of Melappalayam had confessed that he met Kitchan Buhari in Bangalore Central Prison (lodged in connection with the Malleswaram blast). Kitchan Buhari asked Thasin to take custody of his pistol from Mohammed Bashir. With Thasin identifying Bashir, SID sleuths questioned him as well.

Bashir told the police that the weapon was with Mohammed Ansar (38) of Arul Nagar in Ukkadam. When they secured Ansar and questioned him, he told them that the weapon was given to him by Mann alias Suleiman of Karumbukkadai.

On coming to know that the police were on the lookout for him, Ansar went into hiding after handing over the weapon to his wife Yasida. Yasida told the SID that she along with her father I. Mohideen (53) packed the weapon and the ammunition and threw it into the drainage.

The pistol had ‘Made in USA Auto’ marking and 53 rounds of ammunition, all wrapped in multiple layers of polythene.

Preliminary enquiries are on with the suspect to ascertain whether he was a member of the “sleeper cell” (wing of the fundamentalists to provide logistical assistance such as cellular phones, weapons, cash and shelter) to squad members who are given specific “Jihadi” assignments.

With the recovery of Rs 6.01 lakh from Samsudeen in Melappalayam two days ago, SID sleuths have found out that one Katta Shahul had given the money to Samsudeen and the funds were meant for the expenses in connection with Jihadi assignments, SID sources added.

With the arrest of six accused in Melappalayam, recovery of explosives and the links these accused have with Kitchan Buhari, SID sleuths and their Karnataka counterparts are stepping up their hunt for Paravai Basha, ‘Police’ Fakrudeen, Bilal Malik and Pannah Ismail, as their role is suspected in the Bangalore blast. {These are the real culprits who are now on the run}

Police suspect that they had some link with suspects in the recent murders in Vellore, Salem and Madurai.

The inquiries are also likely to throw light on the whereabouts of the 43 kg explosives sent as a second consignment (first consignment recovered at Melapalayam) to ‘Police’ Fakrudeen by Kitchan Buhari. {The first cosignment was reported to be 40 Kg out of which only 17 Kg have been recovered. The remaining 26 are still unaccounted for}

Part of the explosive consignment was used at Bangalore.

As a result of the two known consignments of explosives, the TN Police Step Up Vigil - The Hindu
“Since some of the accused persons involved in the Malleswaram bomb blast belonged to Tamil Nadu, we suspect that the explosives could have been sourced from here. Licensed godowns keeping stock of explosives have been told to furnish the details of sale. The photo identity of every buyer is being maintained…explosives are usually purchased for stone quarry operations,” a senior police official told The Hindu on Wednesday.

^^ Just to add to the above post, in the coimbatore raids the community/NGO had alleged that explosives were planted by the police and raised a fuss. TN Police learnt from that and all raids now like the one in Tirunelveli are videotaped from the beginning and community leaders are brought in as well.
Like the coimbatore raid family members of the culprits tried to raise a hue and cry at police falsely implicating them.

Community leaders were shown the evidence and statements made to the press were that the individuals arrested were capable of those sort of acts.

Ramesh case: Kovai trio under CB-CID scanner
By Express News Service - COIMBATORE 10th August 2013 08:18 AM
Three persons from the city have come under the scanner of the special team of the CB-CID, which is investigating into the murder of State general secretary of BJP Auditor V Ramesh in Salem.

CB-CID personnel suspect the involvement of ‘Police’ Fakrudeen and three others in the murder case. Of the four, three were picked up for enquiry after sleuths doubted that they might be involved in the murder of the BJP functionary at Salem.

A police officer, who is part of the special team, said, they have confirmed the involvement of the four-member group in the murder and have also collected several evidences against them. ‘Police’ Fakrudeen may be arrested in a week’s time, he added.

The needle of suspicion turned towards the group after the team conducted enquiry at several places in the last two days in the city. Later the personnel picked up the trio and held an enquiry with them. While two of them were released on Thursday night, police were still interrogating the other person to obtain more information.

Auditor V Ramesh, State general secretary of the BJP, was murdered by some unidentified persons on July 19. The State government in a quick action formed special teams of the CB-CID to investigate the case and arrest the culprits behind the murder. The teams are conducting enquiries at various places across the state to identify the murderers.
DMK man under SID team scanner
By Express News Service - SALEM 04th August 2013 08:23 AM
The DMK man, arrested with weapons by a CB-CID team here on Friday night, is likely to be questioned by the Special Investigation Division (SID) in connection with the murder of BJP functionary ‘Auditor’ V Ramesh.

SID sources said that this was the first arrest made by the SID in Salem. Sources said that Shajahan was under scanner after a tip-off that he had had links with five persons arrested in connection with seizure of explosives in Melapalayam a few days ago.

Shajahan was arrested while moving near Venus Marriage Hall with a bag. On checking, the team found that the bag contained nine sharp weapons.

Shajahan, a DMK member of Mulluvadi Gate area, was an accused in the murder of rowdy Mandai Babu and advocate Jayachandran and had been detained under the Goondas Act.

Shajahan was produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court No 4 and remanded in judicial custody.

What the TN.P should do next is to video tape the raising a hue and cry by the relatives and the community leaders. And when the genuineness of the raid is revealed, video tape the reactions (of them looking like stupid oafs) as well. And then repeatedly publicize this video. The community leaders should not try their tricks again. These Community leaders are also essentially folks of the same mentality. They are just trying to trap the police and make them complacent.

Absolutely. Even in the case where a Coimbatore guy was arrested for possessing a 'Made in the US' gun and several dozen rounds, the guy left the gun with his wife and father-in-law who promptly hid it inside the gutter. From Kitchan Buhari who is the mastermind behind the series of attacks on Hindu leaders, to this latest wife-father-in-law duo, there have been at least a dozen who have been involved. Their families would all be having the same bent of jihadi terrorism mindset. The Jama'at would always gather to protect these 'innocents'.

Another tragic incident happened during the raids to recover the gun. A small Muslim child was run-over by the police van. I expected a huge fall-out but so far nothing has happened. The reason is that the unfortunate child is the grandson of a Muslim who worked for Muslim-Hindu unity and who was hacked to death by the same Al Ummah cadres after the Coimbatore bomb blasts in 1993. TN state instituted an award in his name to honour those who work for communal harmony and is awarded on the Republic Day every year. No wonder therefore that the Jama'at did not come together on this issue.

Ten held on charge of rioting
Ten persons, mostly teenagers, were arrested on Saturday on charge of rioting after they allegedly assaulted two constables when a college student was penalised for traffic violation in Langer Houz here.

According to police, one college student was fined Rs 350 by traffic police at Rethi Bowli area when they found that he was driving a car without proper documents.

The student, however, refused to pay the fine and started arguing with them. Later he called his friends, who allegedly assaulted the policemen.

Police had to used mild force to control the situation and later took into custody ten of them including the student concerned for rioting and under other sections of IPC.

Attack on kids, with weapons, for singing Vande Mataram on Independence day.
An English version of this report..
The singing of Vande Mataram by school children has made hate mongers in Uttar Pradesh very unhappy. So unhappy in fact that they have now taken to attacking unarmed and helpless children with sharp weapons.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, children in Sarsawa’s Qutubpur village, singing Vande Mataram on their Prabhat Pheri on August 15, were attacked with sticks and sharp weapons. As a result, several of them were injured and were forced to flee the place screaming.

Angry protesters took out a procession on Friday demanding that the attackers be brought to justice.

Received the following by email - no reason to doubt the authenticity of the message, since we've seen several incidents like this in the WB in the last few years. Unfortunately, i dont think any of this will get reported in MSM at all.
Tomorrow (Sunday, Aug 18), a Delegation/Team of eminent personalities (guided by Hindu Samhati's dynamic youth leader Bikarna Naskar) will visit Gabbunia village under Jibantala P.S. where a large number of Hindu houses (atleast 23) have been attacked, ransacked and looted yesterday by Muslim mobs. Hindu women were molested by Muslims. At least 7 Hindus injured including one Tapas Naskar shot at by Muslim miscreants.

All these attacks have been started by one notorious criminal Shah Jahan Sheikh, once a CPIM goonda, who has recently shifted allegiance to the ruling Trinamool Congress.

It seems that police is not willing to cooperate with the delegation's planned visit. In reply to Hindu Samhati's courtesy message informing the police about our planned visit, the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) has already sent me the message that the delegation will not be permitted to visit Gabbunia......

SERIOUS News for Hindus ! Photos attached below.

Yesterday, in the evening, violent religious clashes started in villages under Jibantala PS of South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. In many places, Hindu youths have put up stiff resistance to Islamist attacks and beaten back the Muslim attackers.

Yesterday, at about 5 pm Dipen Mandal (age-27 years), S/O, Kamal Mandal, village – Gabbunia, PS Jibantala, has been hit by an axe (tangi) on his head by Muslim mob. He is seriously injured. At Rajbari Rural Hospital, Tapas has been treated with 16 stitches. Now he is being brought to Kolkata hospital.

Dipen’s mother Pramila Mandal, age -52 years. and elder sister Sulata Ghosh too have been seriously beaten up. They have been severely molested, and their clothes torn out. Pramila Mandal’s right thigh is swelling in pain.

In another incident, Tapas Naskar, age – 30 years (S/o, Sudham Naskar), village. Gabbunia Mouri Gheri, has been shot in left leg/thigh with the bullet still lodged inside his body. He is seriously injured. His life is in danger and is now in R.G. Kar Hospital. Police has taken him into their custody.

Many houses of Hindus of Gabbunia village have been damaged and looted including those of Ajay Roy, Meghnad Mandal.

All these attacks have been directly orchestrated by Shah Jahan Sheikh, a notorious criminal of Sarberia (under Sandeshkhali PS of North 24 Parganas dist), who has recently shifted his allegiance from CPIM to Trinamool Congress. These criminals are taking advantage of working in 2 districts (both North 24 Parganas dist and South 24 Parganas district).

Police of Jibantala Pplice Station is totally defunct, partisan and brazenly anti Hindu. It’s Officer in Charge Ram Mandal is in cahoots with the criminals.

Seriously injured Hindu victim of Islamist-attack Dipen Mandal and his sister Sulata Ghosh have been brought to Kolkata Medical College Hospital by Hindu Samhati activists. Medical treatment has been started. We are committed to protect Hindus at any cost.

10 Muslim miscreants were arrested today. But Jibantala police also slapped criminal cases on 18 Hindus apart from the 7 Hindus already arrested.

2 more Hindus already arrested by Basanti PS police.

That means total 27 Hindus have been implicated in case whereas only 10 Muslims.

Hindus injured - 5 including 1 (Tapas Naskar) shot by bullet in his left leg and 1 (Dipen Mandal) with axe blow to his head.

Hindu houses looted and damaged - 23.

2 matadors damaged.

In Jibantala PS police still detained 2 drivers of matadors who carried our Hindu Samhati supporters to yesterday's Hindu Samhati program .

In the mean while one more terrorism related case in Kerala gets handed over to NIA
Narath case goes to NIA
The gist of the case is that an empty house in Narath, Kannur Dt. was raided by Kannur Police. Large amount of crude weapons, leaflets encouraging Jehad etc. were found. Around 18-20 people who were camping there and practicing their terrorism skills were immediately arrested by the police. This house was managed by NDF/PDP/SDPI gangs. The morons then come with the excuse that the youth out there were practicing Yoga :D . Now the NIA has taken over the case and the Yogacharyas have all been sent into their custody.

But NIA being NIA, we need to see how they progress on the case and when it would reach the judicial courts.

shyamd, there are two aspects here. One, is what we all know, the nexus between Panjawar of KCF or others of the BKI (Babbar Khalsa Intnl) or Intnl Sikh Youth Federation or about IM commanders like Riyaz Bhatkal et al. Tunda's revelations, apart from adding some more information or consolidating our knowledge etc may not add much by the way to our intel agencies. OTOH, on going projects or planned attacks or sleeper cells etc would be of extreme value. How much Tunda would be able to reveal is a moot point because he 'claims' to have been sidelined now for many years. Even that may be falsehood. A lot of chaff will have to be removed from the grain and quickly too. But, I have a feeling that Tunda has been in our custody for a while now.

@SSridhar.. i quite agree with u that Tunda has been in custody for some time. I mean unless the special cell /IB etc are astoundingly stupid, nobody will announce Tundas arrest and give time for his close associates to flee. I never understood why cant we pump Pakistani fake currency into pakistan? i am sure many in Afghansistan will be willing to do. we can quickly disrupt whatever remains of Pak economy? The mexican embassy in Delhi ( india) does not accept Rs 500/Rs 1000 bills for payment of visa fee !! Indian Rs 500/Rs 1000 is not legal tender in Nepal !!

I guess this has now become the standard procedure all across the country. The day the police announces that some one is in their custody it pretty much gives the picture that he is under arrest, and then the process to produce him before a magistrate etc. have to be kick started. And from then on, the police may not have the time and luxury to get all the information from the culprit. Now they have euphemisms like under observation/under surveillance etc. to mean that they police have their man/woman. For this Tunda fellow, I guess he would have been picked up long time and perhaps even interrogated at Nepal or at the border point. The current drama played out is only for the general public. And Tunda is playing his role well in this drama.

There was a case of some Keralites suspected of terror activities getting picked up from bus stops when waiting to go home (after landing from the Gelf) etc. Their own relatives were whining that the Gelf based agencies had picked up these fellows much earlier.

That is what an expert said on TV. Of course he also added that it will help put pressure on Pakistan. A public case is being built. It could be used for:
a) Putting pressure on Pakistan in the next round of talks.
b) Additional reaction to LoC ceasefire violation.
c) Name/face saving for INC/UPA.

He was very much involved in ops, I too read the article you are referring to - he was acting as guide/mentor/Mr Motivator per the latest info. There is a lot of inconsistencies in the media version of events - so difficult to separate things out. Lets leave it at that for now.

Definitely they have shrouded the operation to catch him into total secrecy (for once it has stayed secret!).

Exactly. The litigation and NGO delaying tactics are god-given god-bankrolled god-trained .. opportunities for terrorists on deathbed, add to it AIIMS treatments at cost of families whose folks are killed by bomb blasts and pukis' uncaring drama about investigations - what more does a bomb maker want?

May be his last wish would be to allow pukis a terror camp on his kabr-such as the ones he spent considerable time learning bomb-making.

Another chargesheet against Maudany - The Hindu

I am pleasantly surprised that the change of government in Karnataka has not resulted in any respite for Maudany saheb.
A new charge sheet has been filed against People’s Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasir Maudany, who is now in the Bangalore Central Prison in connection with his alleged involvement in the 2008 serial bomb blasts case.

The charge sheet filed by the Parappana Agrahara police in the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court here accuses him of assault, criminal intimidation and obstructing government servants from discharging their duties. The charges were framed based on a complaint filed by the Whitefield police after an alleged argument that Mr. Maudany had with them when they came to escort him to a holistic medical centre here on June 6. He had got permission to secure treatment for multiple ailments and an inmate was also allowed to accompany him. The alleged altercation took place when the police objected to Mr. Maudany’s demand for an assistant to accompany him, citing security reasons.

The Whitefield police left the Central Prison without him and later lodged a complaint with the Parappana Agrahara police, charging him under Section 353, (assault or use of criminal force to any person being a public servant in the execution of his duty), Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
{Citing this as a reason, this terrorist must be denied access to his treatment regime. If he was interested in treatment, he would not have thrown up a tantrum and assaulted policemen who were after all trying to escort him.}

The Parappana Agrahara police investigated the case and filed a charge sheet in the ACMM court. Mr. Maudany was summoned in the court through videoconferencing on Wednesday.

Counsel for Mr. Maudany, P. Usman, termed it a conspiracy to prevent his client from getting bail.

Tunda undergoes pacemaker implant surgery at AIIMS

I think someone mentioned on BRF that something like this would happen. This is part of Papi jappi or what?? This congi govt is too much.

Tunda, who was arrested from the India-Nepal border last Friday, is a close to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and one of 20 terrorists India had asked the Pakistan government to hand over after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

NEW DELHI: Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Abdul Karim Tunda, who is admitted at AIIMS here, underwent a surgery on Sunday to implant a pacemaker in his heart.

70-year-old Tunda, who was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on Thursday night after he complained of severe chest pain and shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Friday afternoon, was detected with complete heart block, hospital sources said.

His condition was stated to be stable after the surgery.

"Tunda was taken to the cath lab at around 2.45pm on Saturday from the cardiac care unit following which the doctors implanted a pacemaker in his heart," they said.

He underwent the procedure in the supervision of cardio consultants Dr Nitish Naik and Dr Gautam Sharma.

A pacemaker is a small device implanted in the patient to control heartbeat.

Complete heart block occurs when the electrical signal can't pass normally from the atria, the heart's upper chambers, to the ventricles or lower chambers.

A heavy contingent of armed police guards were deployed outside the ward where Tunda is being treated.

Earlier during the day, a magistrate visited Tunda in hospital and remanded him in judicial custody till September 7.

Tunda, who was arrested from the India-Nepal border last Friday, is a close assistant of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and one of 20 terrorists India had asked the Pakistan government to hand over after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. He is suspected to be involved in 40 bombings in the country and is the first in the list to be arrested.

According to Delhi Police, he is wanted for his role in 1993 Mumbai serial train blasts, Delhi bomb blasts of 1997-98 and serial bombings in the state of UP and also at Panipat, Sonepat, Ludhiana and Hyderabad.

The thing is, Dilli Billi is in power throughout the Indo-Gangetic plains. The Dilli billi on either sides will not take too drastic steps to eliminate each other. The this is that both in TSP and India, the dilli billi is being slowly replaced, due to their own corruption, ideologically purer ppl. TSP is inverse and distorted, but a mirror image of Desh. they have to follow the trend started in desh, they are bound by that inevitable connection. when this replacement of dilli billi is complete, this will offset the balance. One of the reasons why India is becoming warm to Hindutva is precisely this. This has been an ongoing cycle since WW1 but has accelerated after Soviet invasion on AFG..

so far as current situation is concerned, the dilli billi across the border can easily provide that opportunity to dilli billi on our side to appear strong and stay in power by taking few blows. It may not be a limited war (even limited way is too big for this), but well managed retreat after border skirmishes which are properly covered be paid media of desh and credit is given to MMS for showing the spin or something similar.

India has no choice but to be on defensive for next 5-6 years at least. Just hold on and survive until 2020. World is ours, there after. One can clean things up internally, meanwhile.
This is What I said few days ago about Paki-Dillibilli giving a nominal victory to Delhi-dillibilli to help them be in power so that every thing goes about as business as usual.

This is what I said few days ago.. And here we have Tunda being thrust upon India as his VRS pension scheme. It is being played out as "major success of MMS" forgetting the fact that this Tunda fellow is above 70 and riddled with diseases. This is the trick to have him treated at AIIMS or Breach-Candy for free plus give something to MMS to harp about. By the time this TUnda fellow will be pronounced guilty by all three tiers of Indian judiciary, he will be at least 80 OR dead. Or may be there will be a speed trial and old man will be hanged before the election with appropriate media hype

It is a welcome news, nevertheless. Yet, I cannot help but smell some perfidy and molly-coddling of MMS and GOI.

You are on the dot Atri garu.

Tunda was treated really fast by the Congis , given the fact that they have sent dosaa upon dossa to Pakis to hand over perpetrators of 26/11 to no avail. Victims continue to suffer while perps are feted. Same yardstick is not applicablre Sadhvi who is made sick by them. Sad day.

The return of Abu Jundal and Abu Tunda imply there is a deeper state in India beyond the ruling government.

Atriji, Think it over and take into account while penning your thoughts.

Ex-JNU Student Held for Alleged Naxal Links - ToI

This is not surprising. Doesn't the environment in JNU nurture such elements ? JNU is the petri dish for much of anti-national activities.

does anyone know what is happening in bhutan?
has a pro-chinese crypto-maoist party taken over from the king?
are there arms and people being stockpiled for the next phase of the putsch?

bhutan used to be where ULFA had open camps a few miles across the border until the IA launched an operation and put an end to it (after many years). it could be a useful rear area for bodo, kamatipur and gorkhaland 'revolutionary' fronts the chinese are cooking up now.

the first targets of these fronts will be the current political leaders of these agitations to clear the foliage at the top and scare away their workers, so they can move into the central position and drive the agenda. happened in nepal, happened in sri lanka N times.

There is a strong core of urban Bhutanese yuppie commies. Its slated for the Nepal treatment. Anyway, you should ask the resident inner-ear-of-gov+strategic circles who are doing everything to make India a sooperpower all the way, completely unknown to us. They are managing the neighbourhood in our best interests completely unknown to us.

^^Another Tunda aide picked up:
Tunda's aide arrested in Bihar
Mohammad Abdul Bashir, a key associate of apprehended Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative Abdul Karim Tunda, was arrested in Bihar’s Katihar district. The 30-year-old Bashir is an accused in 16 cases, including Delhi bomb blasts.

The arrest was made by the Bengal police with the help of local cops. A special team had come over from West Bengal in search of Bashir after Tunda’s another key aide Alauddin was apprehended from Karandighi (Bengal) on Wednesday last. During the interrogation of 55-year-old Alauddin, the name of Bashir cropped up. The Tunda aide told the Bengal police that he, along with Bashir, was the kingpin of fake currency racket which thrived in eastern Bihar as it shared a porous border with West Bengal, Bangladesh and Nepal.

“Although officially, Bashir used to teach at local madrarsa, we got information that he used to frequently visit Bangladesh. Further probe revealed that counterfeit notes printed in Bangladesh were circulated in the Bihar-Bengal border region through unemployed youths recruited by Bashir and Alauddin,” said a police official associated with the arrest.

Sources said Bashir came into contact with the one-armed LeT commander Tunda through his (Tunda) father-in-law Tahir. Although Tahir was arrested on terror charges in 2009 and is cooling his heels in Alipore jail, he is originally from Katihar, the native place of Bashir.

After getting inputs from Alauddin, the Bengal police raided Signalpur in Katihar and arrested Bashir. They have taken him to West Bengal for further interrogation.
Bashir is the third madrarsa teacher from Bihar who has been arrested by the police on terror charges in the last one year.

Last year, Danish Ansari, suspected to be a close aide of Yasin Bhatkal, one of the founders of Indian Mujahideen (IM), was arrested at Darbhanga by the sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA). Besides, Mohd Kafil Akhtar, another Madarsa teacher, was arrested by Bangalore police in May 2012 from the same district for his alleged involvement in the Chinnaswamy Stadium blast case.
Regarding the bolded part, wonder if NDTV will now run a show asking if Bihari Madarssas are terror training camps since if a temple was mentioned by chance anywhere, we would had a week worth of debates on whether "right-wing saffron terrorists" have penetrated Hindu temples!!
