can WP run on asha hw....?
if they can make WP work on asha range , might get a seamless lock on the next 1-2 billion of users migrating up in a few years.
or atleast find some marketing model like trading in asha to get a lumia after 1 yr of use
true, a Lumia 420 (!) could be derived from the 520/620 stable...and priced around 6000. there are some android phones priced around that point now...its not more 10k as the entry gate.
actually there is no need to use code words here for cos. they wont sue you and NSA already knows what brand of undies everyone wears here (I wear jockey)....so if interested they will tag and bag you anyways on some trumped up charge.
naya KB laptop restricts me to use SD card. it says permission denied. i opened the properties, allowed all access. I do have admin rights on local. not sure what should I do? of course I am not trying to copy kb documents here... [just fyi, so that you don't think what my intentions are].

on the MS/nokia.. will the surface tension ease? and MS+Nokia >= Apple!? possibility for the future?
MSFT is not buying Nokia's Location & Services division which included NAVTQ. This division is operated and owned by Nokia, Ericsson and Siemens. Since future revenue is in LBS, this seems a bit odd to leave that portion out if MSFT wants to be competitor to GOOG. Perhaps it's purchase price that Nokia wants for LBS? In any case, it would only be a fraction of what MSFT is already paying for the handset division.
If MSFT can't get its handsets to all carriers world wide at the same time like Sammy & Apple has done, it will remain a laggard. Maybe this acquisition will fix that.

NAVTEQ (or rather Nokia HERE) is completely owned by Nokia onlee, where did you get Ericsson and Siemens? Even NSN is now solely owned by Nokia and there is no Siemens in the picture anymore. For a company which dominates the mapping industry so comprehensively and for so long, NAVTEQ is a pretty low key company. They own about 85% of the mapping market I think, almost all the in-vehicle market and is one of the only 2 companies in the world which collects and owns all its mapping data (the other being TeleAtlas but they do it on a much smaller scale).
The reason for NAVTEQ being out of the purchase might be becoz Michael Halbherr has dreams to making his billions and becoming a CEO. Its been a long time coming....
I thought NAVTEQ was part of NSN? When did NSN get completely taken over by Nokia? Ericsson parted with Sony and remains primarily as a communication services company that had partnership with Siemens (mostly EU) - hence their involvement in NSN.
No NAVTEQ was never part of NSN....it was purchased by Nokia for $8 billion. NSN was a JV between Nokia and Siemens (51% - 49%) and Nokia recently purchased Siemens 49% stake in NSN and ended the JV.
is kitkat gonna be crunchy or chewy? i personally favor pay day with some decent protein for the price. this gizmo war keeping the captive price gauging market, is out there to skim the snobs and make the under privileged eat junk creamy sandwiches.
i am thinking some numerals added to a fruit quality is much more healthier now, but once pay day comes out, and i see the deadweight loss is reduced is the time, some meaningful gizmo will take avatar. till then, it is all profit maximizing on the snob surplus.

Sammy is long term a dead duck, consigned to commodity play. They are the Dell of the mid 90s to mid 2000s of the Android Ecosystem now. Long term, the industry model is easily visible. Three vertically integrated ecosystems, Fruit, Chacha and Mickey. The Sammys and others have to fund opensource /Firefox with HTML 5 kind of thing to remain competitive.
NOT.
Tizen, acc. to chaiwallahs, is more than an Ace up Sammy's sleeve
Tizen can work only if it is an Android fork like Takla's OS or if they have found another way to make regular Android apps compatible with it. If it requires its own apps, it is dead in the water. Also looking at TouchWiz, I don't have high hopes for Tizen's UI. Even the individual developers who make Android ROM's for fun do a better (and faster) job than Sammy. Sammy should start recruiting people from the Cynaogenmod team and XDA forums.
good long term plans on the open source tie ups, however sammy needs an immediate 5 year contract share with google to get a big sword on the market with MS+nokia together.
next big thing is the flexible screen for them. they should not lose focus on the hardware advancements. HTC is another player that sammy can swallow if they play well.
KitKat is a trademark. I wonder if they have a deal with Nestle to use it. Till now they had only used generic names of candy and desserts.
I remember there was a small effort on FB etc. a while back by desis asking for the new version to be named Kaju Katli.
Edit: Looking carefully this sentence "It's our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody." provides no information and means absolutely nothing. Compare it with the earlier sentences on the android website.

Tomorrow is Sammy's event and hopefully they don't piss off the feminists again.
In the mean time, I'm sure everyone wants a Galaxy S4 on their wrists with the new Galaxy Watch.

Kit Kat is a very popular chocolate candy world wide. Even in the US it is big, but in UK, EU and Asia, everybody knows what Kit Kat is compared donut, eclair, or froyo.
Did anyone buy MSFT puts on the day Ballmer announces his resignation ? I sold all my calls for a 4x gain that day, but didn't turn around and buy puts. Should have done so - with the stock now down to where it fell earlier, selling those puts today would have added to my gain
Bliss to be reading on call and put options onlee. Don't play with them until you know what you're doing, or you won't have even a phata dhoti around your lions.

Most of us here aren't as smart. Or I should say, that I'm not as smart as others. When the Elop announcement becomes official, it may bounce up again. Besides, I don't know how to manage puts and calls with my on-line brokerage account. Could you tell us? Especially when it is a good time to do this.
Mortullah: I was just lucky. I thought the market overreacted to MS results and expected a few percent gain on my calls. I didn't expect Unc Fester to hand me a few Ks with his announcement. Of course, I subsequently saw the stock drifting lower and thought of buying puts but preferred to gamble elsewhere, and didn't see them buying Nokia now under a lameduck CEO.
Options trading ability depends on your brokerage and account. For example, they're typically not permitted at all in IRAs and 401k brokerage accounts; taxable accounts onlee.

I played options last with AAPL, LNKD and NVDA onlee. I try not to get greedy coz till now I haven't lost any money so its only a matter of time...

I have a taxable Fidelity's on-line brokerage account and my 401K is entirely separate with another company. Last time I got in to speculation at the end of the dot-com boom in 2001, I lost over $80K, so I am a bit cautious now. OT: Back in early 1990 a friend and fellow EE convinced me to invest in Dell like he did, but I thought I was smarter and instead invested in an indexed Japanese mutual fund and lost money there. So, every decade I make a bad decision on the financial markets. Now I've got too much to loose with kids in college and such.

Also why is MSFT going down after buying Elop along with the Nokia mobile division? Isn't it a good thing for MSFT?
Nokia was losing money with its Devices and Services division. MSFT will probably continue to lose money in the short time and may continue to lose it in the long term. Its also a low margin business. And if it cannot integrate the acquisition well, the losses could be huge. People still doubt M$'s ability to make devices.
