“We are moving forward with eliminating the negative list on trade with India and extending India the most favoured nation status, and shifting to ‘sensitive list’ under SAFTA (South Asia Free Trade Arrangement) regime to facilitate increased regional trade,” Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said.
The Minister said this in a written assurance to the IMF during negotiations for the recently approved $6.64-billion economic bailout package, The Dawn daily said in a report.
KARACHI : Pakistan’s rice exports are likely to fall sharply in the wake of destruction of 10 percent standing crop in Punjab due to the heavy monsoon rains and excess water released by India into Pakistani rivers.
Now the new emerging problem of devastation of damage of rice crop due to heavy rains and excess water released by India into Pakistani rivers would serve a double blow to rice exporters.
CheersHe briefed floodwater and heavy rains hurt particularly the areas of Kamoke and Muridke, as the 50-56 percent standing rice crops have washed out, whereas in Sialkot area there is around 10-12 percent, in Narowal 10-15 percent, in Pasroor 20 percent, in Narang Mandi 15 percent, in Hafizabad 5-7 percent, in Jhang area 15-20 percent and in Chiniot 10-15 percent ready crops of rice have been damaged.

Lashkar-e-Taiba ( LeT) founder Hafiz Saeed has said he will continue his jihad against India until the disputed Kashmir area is completely in Pakistan's grasp.
Warning that India is at risk of facing a repeat of the November 2008 terror strike on Mumbai, Saeed told his supporters at a rally in Islamabad on Friday to mark Pakistan's Defence Day by denouncing India as a terrorist state.
The Daily Times said that over 10,000 people gathered to support Saeed and called for a 'holy war' against arch-rival India.
Saeed's supporters were left further agitated when told that the United States and India are angry with Pakistan, which he interpreted to mean that God is happy with them.
He further said that they will make every sacrifice for the liberation of Kashmir.
He also criticized New Delhi for giving state honours to Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh, who died in a Pakistani jail earlier this year. Sarabjit, he said, was a terrorist.
According to the report, the speakers at the rally openly declared their sympathy for the Taliban group fighting Western forces in Afghanistan.
Hamid Gul, a former chief of the ISI intelligence service, during the rally threatened that there are lot of people in Pakistan who were waiting to conquer India.
Saeed's supporters chanted 'Whoever is a friend of India is a traitor,' the report added.
I have never seen an Indian government before that so much deceived its own people as the UPA-II. On the one hand, it is taking every step at every conceivable opportunity to talk to TSP even while appearing to its own citizens to be taking a tough stand on terror. Sometimes, it even gives up that pretense of being tough as it happened after the latest LoC incident when first AKA gave a clean chit to TSPA and later Kurshid, in his interview with Arnab on Times Now, refused to take a tough stand against TSP and refused to categorically state that talks on the sideline of UNGA could even be affected because of this.Though the PM's statement, on the face of it, appeared a bit tough, sources said the normal logistical preparations for the Manmohan-Nawaz meeting is pretty much on. The Prime Minister now has to take a formal decision to meet Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the UNGA meeting at New York, sources said.
Rahul Gandhiji Would Be An Ideal Choice For The Prime Minister’s Position' ……………………
Exactly 3 weeks from now you will be in New York for the UNGA, the possibility of a meeting with your Pakistani counterpart has been a matter of intense speculation. What are the prospects of such a meeting taking place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, specially since there is a view in India that you should avoid meeting Mr Sharif?
I have always maintained that we can choose our friends, but we have no choice with regard to our neighbours. And, therefore, under normal conditions, I would be happy to meet with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whom I respect, who has said the right things about how relations between our two countries should evolve. But, there are certain harsh realities on the ground -- if the terror acts do not stop; if those who voice terrorist thoughts move about freely; if there is no significant progress in bringing the culprits of the Mumbai massacre to book-- that I have to factor in before arriving at a final decision.
That, and SSji can add to, is what is in the public domain. Power and gas. The rest will be what Unkil will get us to do to save his burning a$$ come 2014.Anindya wrote:SSji
In the meeting between Sharif and MMS - what do we think Sharif will ask for (and most probably get from MMS)? Access to Indian markets, education, medical facilities and targets of jihad has already been provided freely. Is power and access to cheap gas the only CBM on the table for Pakistan?
And I thought it had to do with Jazz! So all the sucite bummers are jazzakallahed!(The meaning of this from Auntie Wiki: Jazak Allah Khayr (Arabic: جزاك اللهُ خيراً) is an Arabic term used as an Islamic expression of gratitude meaning "May Allâh reward you [with] goodness." Allah is the Arabic word for God.
Although the common Arabic word for thanks is shukran (شكراً), jazak allahu khayran is often used by Muslims instead, in the belief that one cannot repay a person enough, and that Allâh is able to reward a person the best. Often the response to jazak allahu khayran is wa iyyaakum (وإياكم), which means "And to you".)![]()

This is one more cliche being repeated by Liberal parrots without thinking..yes we can change neighbors. We can change China to Tibet as a neighbor for one. Other cliches libs like to repeat:MMS: I have always maintained that we can choose our friends, but we have no choice with regard to our neighbours.

The Pakistani intellect is aware of much, but never how much, when and where it is that India releases its kafir water. I wonder if centuries of, as the Germans would put it, cozinfukkenaufzpringbegetten does that to one.

This voice of TSPA/ISI/RAPE front and center. Wherefrom do Indian WKKS and other assorted scum in India get this crap that there is a TSP "civil society" that is distinct from this thinking is beyond me. The first is the repeated paralysis of Parliament. Day after day the image we show the world is of howling, screaming, quarrelling MPs who persist with partisan and, even, petty protests despite the daunting challenges facing the country. They seem unconcerned about the key reforms that will determine India’s economic future. They care more for their personal prospects in Andhra, Supreme Court judgments about their eligibility, missing files and fixing the PM’s accountability and, of course, ventilating easily manufactured anger against Pakistan . In contrast, Nero only fiddled!

Why did it take Shri Liam Fox so long to make this obvious observation and that too when he is not in power and why say 'probably' when he is quite clear that 'Pakistan stands out' over Somalia et al ?
Pakistan’s affair with extremist jihadi groups has risen in passion instead of abating amidst international pressures and the mounting terror attacks within the country by the terrorists. The Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated on September 6 with the usual traditional fervour, eulogizing those who did and did not do much to win one of the series of confrontations that Pakistan provoked in its judgment to bring India down to its knees on the Kashmir issue. Under the layers and still carefully tucked away, the truth might never surface to allow the people to know that the passion of the 1965 war Pakistan pines for every year whenever any collective misery falls on it, has been raised on a façade about an enemy next door who attacked us in cowardly fashion and without warning or a formal declaration of war and not as retaliation for our infiltrating commandos into Indian-held Kashmir across the cease fire line. Indeed the field officers and the foot soldiers fought bravely in defence of the motherland under attack but the political and military leadership commanding the war came out as incompetent from the planning to the execution stage. The political leadership had ccnvinced itself that India would not dare attack across the international border despite Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s explicit warning and the military command was lulled into not preparing for such an eventuality. By the end of the 17-day war, we were running out of fuel and other supplies, including ammunition. Fortunately, the Soviets came to our rescue; had it not been so, September 6 might have added another dark chapter to our chequered history of wars against India. Yet we refuse to learn any lessons from this and other experiences. This defence day saw a plethora of religious parties on the streets showering kudos on the 1965 war martyrs, and putting feathers in the army’s cap for defending the country against the aggressors India. This was the gist of Hafiz Saeed’s commentary he made in Islamabad on Defence Day to a crowd of 10,000. Hafiz Saeed went all the way to the capital city Islamabad to celebrate the day, raising questions once again about the freedom granted to him in the public space. One, who paid for this elaborate arrangement, accommodating, a crowd of 10,000 people? The show was provided security and those attending it given a free hand to spray verbal hatred against the ‘perenniel’ enemy. Who gave permission for all this and was Hafiz Saeed’s speech vetted before being allowed to be delivered?
Hafiz Saeed is not an ordinary jihadi. He is accused of being the mastermind behind the Mumbai attacks in 2008. He carries a head money of $ 10 million imposed by the US. Previously he led Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was banned in 2002 by Musharaf. His credentials are simmering with India hatred, yet his speech against India was allowed on Defence Day. What does it show? On the one hand Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is talking of peace and normalisation with India, and on the other anti-India sentiments are fanned at the behest of the establishment. It is unfortunate that Pakistan is still stuck with its duplicitous approach and insists on smearing the truth and distorting history, forgetting that those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. *
Pakistani leaders on Monday discussed a fresh strategy to deal with Islamic militancy ahead of the planned drawdown of international forces from Afghanistan, officials said.
Heads of political parties, intelligence agencies and the armed forces met in the capital Islamabad to consider the prospects for opening peace talks with the home-grown Islamist militants.
Such a move could draw anger from the United States and other Western nations fighting al-Qaeda and Taliban rebels in neighbouring Afghanistan.
Washington said peace deals in the past had emboldened militant groups, which used “safe heavens” in Pakistan to attack international forces in Afghanistan. Islamabad has denied the allegations.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said the meeting was expected to approve Pakistan’s first ever counter-terrorism policy, {and, pray, what's that policy when everyone is in collusion ?} a decade after Islamabad joined global campaign against terrorism.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was chairing the meeting, where he sought support from opposition parties for his plans to deal with rebel groups.
Sharif offered to talk with militants last month during his first address to the nation after taking over in June.
“I invite all those elements to dialogue who unfortunately follow the path of extremism,” he said then.
But the Prime Minister said his administration would use “other options” if militants did not respond positively to the offer.
The interior minister said a draft counter-terrorism policy envisioned an agency patterned after the US Homeland Security department, and a rapid response force to fight militants.![]()
The Indian government has proposed joint action with the United States to arrest fugitive gangster and country's most wanted terrorist, Dawood Ibrahim, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde said here on Monday.
"We have arrested some most wanted terrorists (of late) and have killed a few on the border. As far as Dawood (Ibrahim) is concerned, we are in touch with (US agency) the FBI," Shinde said, talking to reporters here [Mumbai].
"There is already a red corner notice (against Dawood Ibrahim). We have proposed a joint action with the US (to arrest him). US Attorney General Eric Holder has also agreed to this," he added.
Indian intelligence agencies have claimed for long that the gangster is living in Pakistan.
