International aid agencies barred from Awaran
The government is not allowing international humanitarian aid agencies to go into earthquake-affected districts of Balochistan
Despite daily discussions with the government of Pakistan, Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has not yet been granted permission to work in the affected area
National Disaster Management Authority’s spokesman Adrees Mehsood said no such assistance was required because the NDMA had already provided food, shelter, medical care and other goods to the entire population of 125,000 in the area.
He said the government also did not want to have foreigners doing relief work as the law and order situation was bad in the area.
Whoa! Two different, totally divergent reasons for not letting foreign aid workers into Balochistan.

Kayani made interim chief of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee
Pakistan Army chief Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Tuesday assumed additional charge as the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee until a replacement is made for the top post.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said appointments to the posts of Chief of Army Staff and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will be made in accordance with the Constitutional framework.

Responding to queries, Mr. Rashid said currently Chief of the Army Staff is holding the acting charge of the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and this position will be filled within 30 days as per Constitutional requirement.

Being the senior-most in Pakistan military, Gen. Kayani, 61, took the charge after Gen. Khalid Shameem Wynne retired on Monday.

Hours before Gen. Wynne retired on Monday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the new CJCSC and Army chief would be chosen together after “comprehensive considerations”.

Awwwww..what a heartbreaker for the Pukis
Gulf states to introduce medical testing on travellers to 'detect' gay people and stop them from entering the country
Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE already outlaw homosexuality, but are toughening their controversial stance

Kuwait's director of public health says 'gays will be barred'.

A medical test being developed by Kuwait will be used to 'detect' homosexuals and prevent them from entering the country – or any of the Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC), according to a Kuwaiti government official. Kaisa testing? probe the puki piglet to see if he drools, wiggles his musharraf with a smile of joy?

GCC member countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – already deem homosexual acts unlawful.

This controversial stance is being toughened, according to Yousouf Mindkar, the director of public health at the Kuwaiti health ministry.

Kuwait: The Gulf state is said to be developing a test that willl 'detect' gay people
He told Kuwait newspaper Al Rai: ‘Health centres conduct the routine medical check to assess the health of the expatriates when they come into the GCC countries. However, we will take stricter measures that will help us detect gays who will be then barred from entering Kuwait or any of the GCC member states.’

The circumcised men desperate to reverse the procedure: 'Angry and shameful' men take to online forums to discuss restoring their manhood

Those taking part in homosexual acts in Kuwait, if they’re under 21, can receive a jail sentence of up to 10 years.
Earlier this month Oman newspaper The Week was suspended over an article that was deemed to be sympathetic to homosexuals, according to the BBC.

It’s illegal to be gay in 78 countries, with lesbianism banned in 49. Five countries mete out the death penalty to gay people – Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen and Mauritania.

Extreme: Homosexuality is punishable by death in five countries - and illegal in 78
WHERE HOMOSEXUALITY IS PUNISHED BY DEATH
Iran: Since 1979, the government has executed more than 4,000 people charged with homosexual acts. A non-adult who engages in consensual sodomy is subject to a punishment of 74 lashes.

Saudi Arabia: Although the maximum punishment for homosexuality is execution, the government tends to use other punishments - such as fines, prison sentences, and whipping - unless it feels that homosexuals have challenged state authority by engaging in social movements.

Sudan: For homosexual men, lashes are given for the first offence, with the death penalty following the third offence. 100 lashes are given to unmarried women who engage in homosexual acts. For lesbian women, stoning and thousands of lashes are the penalty for the first offence. Today, the issue has divided some religious communities. In 2006, Abraham Mayom Athiaan, a bishop in South Sudan, led a split from the Episcopal Church of Sudan for what he regarded as a failure by the church leadership to condemn homosexuality sufficiently strongly.

Yemen: Homosexuality is still illegal in Yemen in accordance to the country's Shari'ah legal system. Punishment ranges from flogging to death.

Mauritania: The Shari'a law applies in Mauritania. The penal code states that, since 1983,any adult Muslim caught engaging in an 'unnatural act' with a member of the same sex is punishable with the death sentence by public stoning.

Man, what a daylight fraud we are seeing play out. TSP terrorizing India, and then claiming India is doing the same in Baluchistan, US knowing TSP's perfidy full well, perpetuates this propaganda that somehow what is happening with India is "local", while on AfPak side is "global" and TSP is part of the GWOT, while whatever it does with India is because of some imaginary dispute.

What I don't understand is what is the short-term tactical gain TSP is seeking by upping the ante. Does it want to create a situation in the valley that will garner headlines as AfPak draws to a close and then use TSP's proximity to US and its lackeys to get attention and somehow link the 2 issues?

I am not convince that this Keran sector intrusion is the usual routine infiltration bid. TSP was trying to gain some tactical advantage and was beaten back. Anupmisra, I share your angst that it is taking this long for our boys to annihilate the pigLeTs, but I agree with Indian army in that these pigLeTs are not commanding any strategic heights, they are holed up in some bushes or whatever, and its a matter of time before the remaining pigLeTs retreat or shot dead. So its not worth a frontal assault.

As for not using helicopter gun ships, here is my take. If India does indeed escalate to that level, and it should legitimately do so IMO, but TSP will furiously cry foul, and the US slime balls will then accuse India of racheting up tensions while TSP is doing Jesus Christ's work of helping US and its white brothers cut and run from AfPak.

So unless India can sustain the onslaught of US propaganda, and potentially more severe measures should US feel that its efforts in AfPak are under direct threat as a result of Indian actions, I would say India should not give reason for US to start crying wolf.

Its a sad commentary that this is where we are after 9/11, the world's largest democracies both victims of terror, cannot see eye to eye on terrorist'n chief, TSP. As I and others were saying on the India US thread, whether or not one admits, India and US are indeed tottering as silent enemies if not overtly. Sad, very sad.

Pretty_Effed_Up_If_Stoned_to_death_due_to_Possession_Of_Cell_Phone
A young mother of two has been put to death in Pakistan for possessing a cell phone.

Arifa Bibi was sentenced to death by stoning by a Pakistani tribal court, and was executed on July 11 at the hands of her family. Her uncle, cousins and other family members threw stones at the woman until she died, all because she had a mobile phone. She was buried in the desert far away from her home village, and according to reports, her family was not permitted to be involved in her funeral  .

Stoning has been a common sentence in countries like Pakistan for a long time and is used against women and other vulnerable groups. Since the stoning of Arifa Bibi this summer, women’s rights groups have launched an even stronger campaign to put a ban on stoning.

Naureen Shameem, representative for women’s rights group Women Living Under Muslim Laws, says that stoning is used against women in particular as a way to control them.

“Stoning is a cruel and hideous punishment,” said Shameem. “It is a form of torturing someone to death. It is one of the most brutal forms of violence perpetrated against women in order to control and punish their sexuality and basic freedoms.”

The Asian Human Rights Commission explained the act of stoning against women in a recent press release.

“Stoning to death is a barbaric act from a primitive society,” reads the press release. “Society is sent the message that violence is the way to deal with women and other vulnerable groups. Women’s rights are negated through the use of these forms of punishment. Pakistani society has degenerated to the point that, for a woman, keeping a cell phone has become serious crime. It is treated as a worse crime than gang rape, murder and bomb blasts, through which many people are killed on a daily basis.”

Groups are currently petitioning the United Nations to enact a worldwide ban on stoning. It is not known what progress has been made on that front.

Some burglars broke into a jewellery shop in Ranchore Line on Sunday night and took away gold ornaments worth Rs1 million. The burglars entered the shop by breaking the locks.

The jewellers in Ranchore Line and Garden areas staged a protest on Nishtar Road against the burglary. They chanted slogans against the law enforcement agencies for failing to protect them and their merchandise.

The Eidgah police said they had registered FIR No 190/2013 under Section 380 on the complaint of Muhammad Qasim( :rotfl: This is the highlight of the story. Pakis are proud of Muhammad bin quasim a looter, Modern day muhammad qasim was looted by pious fellow pakis), the owner of Royal Jewellers.

He was looted because his name misses the most important part 'bin' , see he isn't Mohammed Bin Qasim for if he was, he would not have been looted. Now, which Al BoseD Waleh would dare break the locks of Mohammed Bin Qasim jewellery store?

Noticed that more than a decade and half ago. Then i realized only 2 countries really fcuked themselves up complete. Changed their entire language, script even name so deracinated that Philipino's proudly wear the King of Spain on their country name..imagine India being named Victoriastan and their entire script to Romanic. Next were the Paki's did the same almost, particularly with their languages. In some respects the Paki's outdo the Philipino's in their deracination. But both compete on many fronts quite strongly.

Ahh... how smart. US has issued a stern warning about IP gas pipeline. But, TSP wants to project an image of standing up to the US. It knows that Iran cannot spare USD 2 B at all. So, throw the ball into Iranian court. And, TSP thinks that others can't understand its game.

Hindu grave dug up near Karachi
KARACHI: A Hindu grave was dug up near Pakistan's southern city of Karachi in a dispute over burial plots, police said Tuesday.Local residents in Pangrio town, some 225 kilometres east of Karachi, protested that a man from the minority Hindu community had been buried in the main Muslim graveyard.“The members of the Muslim community dug up the grave on Sunday, removed the body and handed it over to the town administration,” local police officer Aslam Khanzada told AFP.The body of Bhoromal Bheel has now been reburied in another location, he said.“The town was shut in protest by the Muslims,” Maulvi Mithan, the prayer leader in a local mosque said.Relatives of the deceased, while talking to AFP, claimed that police had sided with the Muslims.“My cousin's body was removed and recklessly laid at the road all the day long in the scorching heat,” said cousin Nar Singh Bheel, adding that Hindus had buried bodies in that part of the graveyard for decades.“We have over a hundred graves of our forefathers there,” he said.

Why the Taliban won’t succeed in Afghanistan now
http://www.dawn.com/news/1048279/why-th ... stan-now/3
The Taliban provided Pakistan the rare relief from its perceived fear of being surrounded by an enemy from both of its long borders, the eastern and the western. It is called the strategic depth syndrome. Something Pakistan suffers from since its birth. It finds its exposure to India, the length of its eastern border, disproportionately larger than its geographic depth.
Pakistan has been locating its strategic installations, like its nuclear plants, at points that are at equal distance from its eastern and western edges. The other measure it considers important is to have a friendly government in Afghanistan so that it could focus exclusively on the eastern side without fearing a stab in the back or bearing the strain of defending both of its long borders.
But to its utter dismay, the governments in Kabul have almost always been friendlier to India. All of its presidents during the Soviet occupation, and before that, had close ties with India. The last of them, President Najibullah, when ousted by the mujahedeen in 1992 took refuge in a UN office compound. He remained holed up there for years trying to negotiate a safe passage to India.
Even from within the warring Afghan factions, most of the non-Pashtuns allied closely with Delhi. The mujahedeen though jockeyed for Pakistan, proved to be futile when it came to delivering a government in Kabul. The Taliban showed promise of a stable and pro-Pakistan government in Kabul and thus became the darlings of Pakistan’s security strategists. Their dream of achieving strategic depth on the western border came true.Afghanistan was practically left for Pakistan to handle in 1990s. Everyone else had more important and urgent matter to attend to. Pakistan had the moral courage to engage in the battle of Jalalabad. It felt obliged to round up Afghan mujahedeen and fly them to Saudi Arabia to make them sign a pact. It had the guts to let its madrassah graduates, the Taliban, become a militant force in Afghanistan. But Pakistan does not have that latitude in 2013. In fact, the opposite is true as each and every of its move is closely watched and contested by a number of stakeholders. So strategic day-dreaming aside, Afghanistan offers a free ride to none now.

Sridhar..what other options does Iran have now ?
having invested $500 m on their side of the border to lay the pipeline and expecting IP will help to grow their economy..

I believe they will end up laying the pipeline on TSP end as well or sponsor for the pipeline..
and will also give credit service for the gas delivered which will never be paid by the tsp...

well if they were smart they would have not completed their end of the pipeline unless atleast on the other end work is started....
now either they have to forget the $500 m investment they did on their end or spend another $1b to complete the work and expect the tsp to pay for the gas and pipeline....... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Pakistan’s Oversized Submarine Ambitions
Before his last term ended abruptly in a 1999 military coup, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif dreamed that Pakistan would become an “Asian Tiger,” comparable with the rising economies of Southeast Asia.

Pervez Musharraf and Asif Ali Zardari dashed those hopes: Islamabad is now US$58 billion in debt, and economic growth has slowed to a murmur.
Pakistan’s naval strategy is centered on a number of goals, such as deterring India, keeping sea lanes open to Pakistan’s Karachi port, and ensuring a “stable environment in the North Arabian Sea.” To that end, Sharif has promised that priority will be given to “critical projects,” including building and procuring new submarines and frigates, and constructing new naval bases at Turbat and Gwadar, Khan says. A large corps, with over 25,000 active personnel, including 3,000 Pakistani Marines and 1,000 Special Service Group members, gives Pakistan unique flexibility in conducting missions.
Sharif’s plan faces familiar pitfalls. Former President Pervez Musharraf’s ambitious Armed Forces Development Plan (AFDP) envisioned a US$15 billion retrofit of Pakistan’s military by 2015, expanding the submarine fleet from eight to twelve. Since 2008, GDP has stagnated with an average annual growth rate of 2.5 percent, and Sharif was even forced to borrow another US$5 billion in his first days in office in a bid to prevent widespread blackouts.

Already a 2008 IMF deal forced the government to abandon a multi-billion dollar deal with Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW) for three U-214 submarines. A tentative US$6 billion deal with China to provide six diesel-electric submarines was also abandoned when Pakistan could not provide collateral. Although the plans are secret, with the Air Force’s AFDP shelved five years ago, “it would be safe to assume that Navy’s AFDP "had a “similar fate,” Khan says.

We have to show some patience with Pakistan: Salman Kurshid - ToI

Some patience, huh ? 66 years aint 'some patience' ?
"I think much as we feel upset and concerned and hurt by what is happening on the border and the LoC, I think we have to show some perseverance, some patience and some fortitude to ensure that we don't play into the hands of the forces that want to create trouble," he told .
The question is who are these 'forces' into whose 'hands we don't want to play' ? The minister should explain this openly to the people of India rather than repeating this vague cliche.

This reference to 'forces that want to create trouble' is a joke like Pakistan ministers saying 'foreign hand', 'Muslim will not kill another Muslim', 'terrorism has no religion', 'Pakistan has suffered the most due to terror' etc. etc.

I would think that the entire Pakistan is one 'force that wants to create trouble'. But, if GoI does not feel that way, they should explain.

Why would they explain? When they waltz around with Z category security, have a luxurious life style, get to jet around the world, why should they bother if some 200-300 Indians are killed in bomb blasts, terrorism etc. After all, more Indians die due to weather, snake bites, traffic etc every year.

SSridhar,

As Arnab pointed out last night, the cabal consisting of WKK cowards & traitors, along with their western backers have created a momentum on this narrative that there is such a thing as TSP "moderates" who form the vast majority, but a few "extremists" spoil the show. And to rub salt to our wound, anybody from our side who debunks that are "hardliners". Recall that exchange between Brahma Chellany and Uneven I posted a few days ago. Uneven had the audacity and gall to suggest that anybody in India who does not turn the other cheek is a hardliner, in other words we must endure the shit thrown at us because there are some imaginary "moderates" in TSP.

CRS, I perfectly understand and even agree with Uneven on the 'other cheek' demand because if after 66 years, the foreign minister of GoI s.ays that more patience is needed, then the 'other cheek' demand holds good. Anything else must be deemed as a hardline approach that is unnatural for India.

Those who preach a soft approach towards Pakistan, of which there are quite a few, fail to realize that such an approach is regarded universally as stemming from a cultural weakness of timidity, leading even smaller nations to assume a posture of confrontation against us. Forget about PRC.

This is similar to those who say that we must not retaliate when terror strikes us from across the border because retaliation may lead to confrontation that may push our economy back. They do not realize that the massive terrorism inflicted on us also costs us dearly in various ways.

Just contrast our policy of "appeasement" under "Surrender" Singh with that of Russia.Putin personally at a press conference castigated the Netherlands for their violation of the Vienna Convention when one of Russia's diplomats was detained by Dutch officials.Putin said on TV that if there was no apology forthcoming from the Netherlands Russia would retaliate. In our dealings with Pak,there are so many cases of our diplomats who have been brutally beaten up by the Pakis in the past and how did we react?

It appears that to a certain section of the political landscape, the nation and its population of 1 billion, are nothing but an inexhaustible goldmine that is meant for looting and scooting in connivance with firang powers and MNCs.

Article reprinted in the Australian newspaper, “The Age”, reminding the Islamic Republic of Pakistan that competing way over one’s weight class by way of attempting to militarily match India comes at a tangible human developmental cost to the Islamic Republic even as India does not break into a sweat to forge ahead on those same human development even while fending off the Islamic Republic’s military pretensions:
Pakistan has neglected to build a public education system worthy of the name. No single leader or political movement can be singled out for blame: this is a calamitous national failure built up over generations.

Today, only 67 per cent of Pakistani girls and 81 per cent of boys go to primary school, according to the United Nations. India achieves close to 100 per cent for both genders, and even Uganda and Zambia manage more than 90 per cent. ………………………………

The consequences are felt down the generations. Today, about 60 per cent of Pakistani women - and perhaps half of all men - are unable to read or write. Pakistan deploys an arsenal of nuclear weapons, but most of its people cannot sign their own names. The causes of this extraordinary neglect are complex and have little to do with the Taliban.

Pakistan remains locked in confrontation with India over the disputed territory of Kashmir and must also contend with perpetual turmoil on the border with Afghanistan. The result is that the army has first call on the nation's resources.

Pakistan's budget for 2012-13 showed that 54 per cent of all public spending at federal level went on defence and debt servicing. Education, meanwhile, received less than 2 per cent. The debts, incidentally, were mainly the legacy of previous loans to buy weapons. …………………………

Well those who were preaching restraint after Parliament attacks/26-11 due to economic reasons (oh war will put India back by 10 years) must be jubilant because TSP is still sending terrorists into India, Border incursions is at all time high and Indian economy is back in cr@p.
So how a war in 2001 or 2008 would have resulted in worse economic situation than we already have now. Atleast the scourge of terrorist TSP would have been wiped out.

full war in 2013 -- 100,000,000 casualties.
full war in 2008 --- 50,000,000 casualties
full war in 2001 --- 20,000,000 casualties
full war in 1999 -- less than 10,000,000 casualties. (nukes kick in)
full war in 1971 --- less than 100,000 casualties. no problems with land, environment, economy
full war in 1965 --- less than 50,000 casualties. no problems with land, environment, economy
full war in 1948 --- less than 25,000 casualties., no problems with land, environment, economy

The more we delay the eventuality the worst the situation will become for our people, land, environment and economy.

The above writer doesn't understand TSP is an Islamist state. Such an entity will promote madarassas to modern schools. It needs that to create a religion based homogenity.
When the Arabs took over Persia it took them a hundred years to create a dedicated madrassafied population.
The Sultanate period in India also had same policy but Akbar changed that when he realized the Hindu population was huge and the Sultanate was always at risk of a Hemu. So he opened the madarassas to Hindus to learn Persian and be part of the governing structure.

Our Foreigner Minister is doing the same which was done to Ayodhya, Kashi and Qutab Minar. The very same they tried to do to 911 site and last week planned Million M march to Washington Dc which went Qaboot when Mile Long line of Bikers put the fear of hell in them. But wait, before BP shoot through the skull, The same Foreigner Minister is among the top 3 contenders of India's PM ship.

What could be opinion of 'international' community about India specific nuclear posture of porkies?

Are we to give a damn about those who ignored black market of nukes but don't mind silence and post-war propaganda. 'International opinion' has to be for all issues and all people and not selectively ignorant and selectively high preaching.

Terrorist Islamic Republic of Pakistan - Aug 21, 2013

China arrests 139 in Xinjiang for urging militancy : Media

BEIJING : China has arrested 139 people in Xinjiang for allegedly spreading militancy, state-run media said Wednesday, as it warns of growing religious extremism in the far western region, home to Muslim Uighurs.

Another 256 people had been “punished” for spreading online rumours, the Global Times said citing local authorities, without specifying the measures taken.

Beijing has pointed to violent incidents to indicate a rising militant threat among the ethnic minority, but information in the vast region is tightly controlled and Uighur organisations complain of cultural and religious repression.

Police in Xinjiang have “handled an increasing number of cases in which individuals have posted or searched for religious extremist content on the Internet”, the China Daily said, citing an unnamed source in the Xinjiang Daily.

In the two months to the end of August, 139 people were arrested for “spreading religious extremism”, it said.

Also citing the Xinjiang Daily, the Global Times said a farmer in Hotan was detained after he uploaded 2GB of e-books about secessionism which were read 30,000 times.

“Overseas hostile forces have never stopped infiltrating and inciting residents to take up extreme religious ideas through the Internet and the online spreading has become a great threat to ethnic unity and social stability,” the Global Times said, citing police.

Dilshat Rexit, a spokesman for the overseas-based World Uyghur Congress, which Beijing calls a separatist group, said the claims were a “total distortion of the truth” aimed at blocking Uighurs from going online.

Those detained had “expressed discontent with Chinese rule and systematic repression in the area”, he said.

China’s goal “is to suppress Uighurs’ use of the Internet to obtain information and express different points of view”, he added.

News of the detentions comes just ahead of the start of the Muslim Hajj, when almost 12,000 Chinese pilgrims are expected in Makkah according to reports.

China’s state-run media have previously reported that Uighurs have fought in Syria’s civil war against the regime, then returned home to put their militant experience into practice.

Members of a gang behind what China called a “terrorist attack” in Lukqun in June that left 35 people dead watched extremist videos beforehand, the China Daily said, citing police.

A court sentenced three people to death and one person to 25 years in jail in September over the attack, saying they had taken part in a “terrorist organisation”, the official news agency Xinhua reported at the time.

The clash was Xinjiang’s deadliest since 2009, when riots between Uighurs and China’s ethnic majority Han left 200 people dead.

Xinjiang’s population is 46 percent Uighur and 39 percent Han, according to official statistics, but the latter largely dominate the economy and form a majority in the regional capital Urumqi.
