There r many who are terming Kalyan as spent force. I m not sure whether he is or he's still potent force- but hv few points to make.
1. Apart from Hindu poster boy, Kalyan Singh was the tallest OBC leader of his times. All non-Yadav OBC once led by Kalyan Singh!
2. During that time even Kurmis followed him. Sonelal, Beni came much later once his effect diluted!
3. Till late 90s MBCs and EBCs used to really respect him. He empowered them within OBCs against Yadav domination!
4. He made a unbeatable combo of FC+MBC+EBC that was counterable only by Yadav+Dalit+M combo! Once BSP n SP separated, he's unbeatable
5. His demise didn't come from outside but from inside. Kalraj Mishra at the instance of ABV started weaning away Brahmins from BJP.
6. By 1998, a significant number of Brahmins had moved towards BSP helped by Kalraj Mishra.
7. Around the same time, Amar Singh with help of Raja Bhaiyya weaned away significant chunk of Thakurs to SP.
8. Significantly weakened by this desertion, ABV started isolating Kalyan Singh- ill treating his confidantes like Sakshi Maharaj and son!
10. And once he's sidelined, the smaller MBCs felt that their guardian is gone! They started splintering forming pressure groups
11. And then u saw smaller caste group, leader who started negotiating deals with SP, BSP, Con, BJP etc.
12. And hence BJP lost the Kalyan Singh magic for ever. Not due to MBC, EBC but because of Brahmins n thakurs who deserted a OBC leader
13. So let the truth be told that its not KS/OBC who failed BJP, its BJP/FC who failed KS.
14. ABV and his lackeys believed that the numbers lost in UP will be made up by BSP in NDA till BSP fooled BJP in 1999 vote of confidence
15. Despite all this, the older generation of all MBCs/EBCs still remember KS as person who empowered them. They can sway opinion for BJP
16. However much BJP tries, NaMo can't reach UP villages and kasbahs, can't win MBC/EBC trust overnight! Only KS can due to past linkage
17.And therefore if BJP has to win more than 20-25 seats, it needs to unleash KS and use his goodwill among MBC/EBC in village, kasbah, town
18. BJP has two choices- one to use NaMo magic and win 20-25 and forget more, two unleash KS and hope that his magic works for another 15.
19. And hence I rest my case. One must know who is villain and who's hero in UP. To be fair, RNS never backstabbed KS- he's just insecure

Pretty accurate description of how BJP was dismantled piece by piece in UP by "Windbag".

SS is becoming a real drain on BJP. First AP and now Haryana. I hope she is relegated to some menial job.
RMji, Modi has not given up the Devalaya issue. Sb4D does not constitute all S and no D. Right wing politics in India is similar to that in US. In the primaries, they all try to out do each other. As soon as a candidate emerges, s(he) does a 180 degree to accommodate as many outliers as possible. Otherwise there is simply no arithmetic that would make up the numbers. Modi is no different. If you look at Kanpur rally, KS did say Jai Shri Ram. He would not if the official line is not to. Even otherwise, Modi is 100 times better than anything else that the present field can throw up. Not voting for BJP would be a 2004 redux and we have all seen the debilitating effect of that. I wish BD and VHP had thrown their weight behind BJP at that time.

Right now please DO NOT do anything which will cause fissures. Please.
Even if Modi is controlled by MNCs, it is still better than a 3rd front backed by UPA or UPA-3 itself.
So please by tactically sound.

ABP News reporting that Sant Shobhan Sarkar's right hand man Om ji (Om Awasthi) used to be a strong Cong I supporter who quit politics after Indira Gandhi's loss. He was a strong (kattar) congress supporter.
Meanwhile Sant ji has increased his claim from 1000 tons to 21,000 tons of gold. More than the total known gold in the country.

I think it has more to do with Swamy's lawsuit than Modi's rise... as family members who are apposed to N.Ram/SV are on twitter and they are definitely not Modi's fans.
http://www.business-standard.com/articl ... 003_1.htmlA boardroom battle has again erupted among family members of Kasturi & Sons, which owns and operates The Hindu group of publications. It came with a decision on Monday to appoint Siddharth Varadarajan as editor of the flagship daily and to relieve five family members on the board of all editorial reponsibilities. The new editor is a professional employee, not related to the family.
In the Monday board meeting, N Ram, editor-in-chief and publisher, with six other directors in the 12-member board, voted to appoint Varadarajan in place of N Ravi. It was also decided, in accordance with changed succession norms, that Ram would step down from his responsibilities, along with four others on the board. The decision will require approval at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of all shareholders — there are just under 50, all part of the same family — convened on May 20.

SS has taken the blow from INLD physically in past for real. I dont remember the exact time I think it is in late 70's when she was cabinet minister in Haryana under Ch. Devilal's govt. Dont remember the particulars but she did something or said something against Devilal, for that she was roughed up by party workers.
Secondly in 1999 INLD and BJP had prepoll alliance in state. Chautala fielded independants against the BJP candidates and made sure BJP candidate loose.
Chautala is no better than Lalu but for BJP to win Haryana they need INLD. INLD has a strong following in Haryana. I personally dont like Chautala but for Modi to win he has to form an alliance with them.
SS should be declared Delhi CM candidate and asked to take care of Delhi for now.

21,000 tons of gold
1 ton = 1 tonne = 1000 kgs
Current rate 1 oz 31 grms = $ 1300 approx
21 x 10 ^ 9 grams
21 x 10 ^ 9 x 13 x 10^ 2 dollars
21 x 13 x 10^ 11 dollars. Rearranging the numbers and adding the powers
273 x 10 ^ 11
10^12 is trillion dollars
So it's worth 27.3 trillion dollars
This is mind boggling

Sushupti ji; why do I care two hoots from some random nitwit on twitter? You may have missed the message before, but I do not think that posting inane opinions from nobodies on twitter is of any value. I do care about how much **this** thread, engages in serious fact based analysis as opposed to "I feel" types, but that is about all.Sushupti wrote:Check this guy tweets on election politics in cow belt of UP and Bihar. Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
Look - regarding ABV, the problem was that some of the BJP members like Sakshi Maharaj had a history of violent crimes attending them. Swami Sakshi has about 20 criminal cases against him, including murders. It was impossible to field people like him in Lok Sabha elections. And, by the way, even Kalyan Singh agreed to sideline Sakshi Maharaj in 1999 elections.Sushupti wrote:Check this guy tweets on election politics in cow belt of UP and Bihar. No body understand it like him. Sanku will have liquid oxygen experience. LKA related tweets (Oxygen) will not let him die while ABV related tweets (liquid) will not let him live.
And what Brahmin party?! The Brahmins have been estranged from the BJP for more than 15 years now. Kalraj Mishra has trouble getting elected himself. If Kalraj and ABV were so powerful, why did the Brahmins keep away from the BJP after Kalyan's departure in the early 2000s? Should they not have returned, once Kalyan was gone and BJP was under Kalraj once more?
Everyone has theories about what happened to BJP in UP, and none of them are very convincing. The best explanation, IMO, is that their support base started eroding, once they abandoned their core values. And the unmanageable ministry of 90 people that Kalyan (and later Rajnath) had to handle destroyed their credibility as a party with a difference. It is hard to blame one person as solely responsible for the dismantling of the BJP in UP.

I have been following Malini Parthasarthy on twitter for a long time. She hates Modi. She is the one who said "How can we expect Modi to be our PM if he can't speak anything accept Hindi and English."
The problem with Hindu is that Sid tried to be more proactive on 2g, coal gate and Vadra scam then it was expecting. Hindu's journo Shalini Singh went after the family and PM like a ton of bricks. Her articles are hard hitting factual and no holds bar. They are usually 1000 words or more and Sid gave her full space.

Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
Here are smoke signals that PM and Sonia have fallen out
Why is the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) willing to wound the Prime Minister, but afraid to strike? If the CBI is a caged parrot, who has the keys to the cage? The PMO or someone higher up? How did Rahul Gandhi suddenly become the slayer of the ordinance to allow convicted politician-criminals to continue in office – an ordinance promulgated with the concurrence of Sonia Gandhi, but which was finally withdrawn when Rahul tore into it, calling it “nonsense.” Why did the PM react so coolly to this insolence, merely observing that “I am not the master of what people say…”. According to political observers and senior bureaucrats, the answers to these questions lie in the cooling relationship between Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, and what the Congress party sees as vital to a future government under Rahul Gandhi – if not in 2014, then a couple of years after that. They believe that the relationship between Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi is not what it was earlier, with the PM asserting himself a bit more in the wake of evidence from 10 Janpath that it is willing to sacrifice Singh’s reputation to build Rahul’s. The Congress party’s strategists also believe that they cannot win the next election, but still want to ensure they have a good enough strength in the next Lok Sabha to support a third front from the outside, or even allow the BJP to form the government, but force it to live a charmed life.
In this scheme of things, the Congress will strive to get 130-150 seats – enough to support a government from outside, or trouble a weak BJP government dependent on allies. The plan to choreograph Rahul Gandhi’s emergence as the big hope of the future is with 2016-17 in mind, when the Congress hopes to pull the plug on the next government. A crucial part of that strategy is to show up Manmohan Singh as the man who ruined governance in UPA-2, and Rahul as the great redeemer. Singh is the fall guy – and he is reportedly not liking it one bit. Rahul wants to build his political career on the ruins of Singh’s reputation.
Why did the CBI launch a case against PC Parakh and Kumar Mangalam Birla? And not against the PM himself, when he was the “competent authority” to decide on Birla’s coal block allocation? The answer: the powers-that-be want a wounded PM who looks helpless, but they don’t want him to resign as yet.
So Ranjit Sinha is big operator for ITALIAN MAFIAFirstpost spoke to several senior bureaucrats and all of them expressed surprise at how Ranjit Sinha, the CBI Director, has done many things to embarrass the Prime Minister. Nothing like this ever happened when the 2G scam was breaking out; at that time, inspired leaks of letters from the PM clearly showed him distancing himself from A Raja. But in Coalgate, it is the PM carrying the can all the way. This is why senior bureaucrats suspect that the script has gone wrong between him and Sonia.

Disclosing that Yasin Bhatkal has also confessed that Ishrat Jehan who was killed in an encounter in Gujarat was an IM module, authoritative security sources in the home ministry told this newspaper that there are more than 15 active IM modules who are taking shelter in Pakistan.
Refusing to divulge actual identities of these youths that security agencies have succeeded in establishing after the arrest of Bhatkal, security sources said that they have been taken to Pakistan for training.
Clarifying that the IM was formed with specific agenda of Pakistan to perpetrate terror attack on India without leaving any footprint, security sources said that IM modules were not trained for targeted killing. Pointing out that IM modules had mandatory instruction of using home made explosives, sources said that IM was used for targeting civilian gatherings only.

dna exclusive: IIT, IIM grads join BJP; work on blueprints for good governance
And its folks doing real stuff on the ground, not airy-fairy pie-in the sky types.Narendra Modi has charmed some of the best brains in the country. Impressed with his “good governance” talk, many IIT, IIM and IISc graduates have taken primary membership of the party.
These highly skilled and motivated people, aged between 30 and 35, are either entrepreneurs or working in private companies. They are mostly based in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida and Gurgaon.
The party is currently using their expertise to prepare a “vision document on IT reforms” — a blueprint for good governance. They have been asked to study the effectiveness of the systems being used at the Centre, various states and in other countries and prepare alternatives using IT as a platform, which could be used when the party comes to power.
Judiciary, education, public distribution system, and technologies are some of the sectors for which the vision document is in the final stages. The group recently met in Delhi.
Welcome home, I'd say.Sachin Shrivastava, a postgraduate from IIT-Kanpur, wants a National Education Grid that would be accessible on the internet. Any student can take self-assessment tests online at any time.
“Currently, a student’s preparedness is known through the 10th or 12th standard exams and hence corrective measures can’t be helpful,” he said. “If the baseline tests are done at the primary and secondary levels, corrective steps can be taken immediately.”
Anil Arya, an MBA from IIM Bangalore and BTech from NIT Trichy, wants Massive Online Open Courses, crowd sourcing and industry participation to improve the employability of graduates in the country. He is studying the use of mobile money transfers in Africa.
Om Kanwar from IIT Delhi has proposed a National Digital Evidence Grid to improve the law and order in our country.
Anurag Jain, a postgrad from IIT-D and Madhur Sharma a postgrad of BITS-Pilani are working on VLSI (very large scale integration) chip which is not only smaller, faster and much cheaper but also requires less power as compared to present day chips.
“My company completed 25 years in India but there is no VLSI semi-conductor fabrication unit in the entire country,” Sharma said. India needs a policy that would generate employment, provide transparent governance and show real growth.
Dr S Lele, PhD from IISc Bangalore and now working with a private firm, is working on a financial inclusion policy.
Vinit Goenka, national co-convenor of the BJP’s IT Cell, said: “Everyone talks about problems in the country. I am happy that at least a handful of people are giving us solutions. This also shows their faith in the party.”

Yes, there is polarization in western UP. The Hindu vote, represented by majorly Jats in this region, is looking towards BJP with increasing interest and the party should prepare itself for a rich haul of MPs in west UP akin to the mid-90s proportions. The counter-polarization is interesting, for the Muslims too blame the SP government for their riot travails and are shifting their allegiance to BSP overwhelmingly (it must be noted that BSP was always strong in this region, especially among Muslim voters). The Muslim vote is then moving some, beyond western UP, through whispers and Friday sermons and Urdu media and assorted intelligentsia, it is silently taking a vow to teach a lesson to Mulayam and his horribly incompetent son. Unfortunately, the Muslim of UP is severely handicapped for choices, for he also has the burden of stopping Modi’s race to Dilli on his debilitated shoulders (literally and metaphorically).
It is in this scenario that some deft moves were being made by the Congress party managers in an attempt to build an alliance with the BSP. A Congress-BSP alliance would potentially provide a platform for the Muslim voters to once again shift allegiance in 2014. Unfortunately, these discussions for an alliance seemed to have met a premature death when Maya apparently refused to give away even the political space that realistically belonged to the Congress party. This breakdown of talks was alluded to when Rahul Gandhi made his by now hilariously infamous “Escape Velocity” speech and attacked Mayawati’s politics.
The machinations in UP are far deeper than what meets the eye. Apparently, a section of the ‘secular intelligentsia’ and Dalit ideologues are working overtime to bring together the Congress party and the Dalit czarina in a grand nationwide alliance. What is intriguing is that two former Sangh strategists are allegedly playing a stellar role in creating this huge alliance – one of them overtly and the other more covertly. Although such an alliance would render the Congress party vulnerable in many parts of India, especially as regards to its Dalit vote-bank nurtured since the pre-independence era, it is being argued that defeating NaMo is the bigger cause of today. The electoral mechanism that is being worked out involves letting Mayawati capture a rich haul of 60+ MP seats nationwide (with 40+ coming from UP alone) and then letting her build a third front alliance supported by the Congress party. In the eventuality that the Congress party loses heavily in the upcoming assembly elections, such an alliance is said to be the only face-saver for the party in 2014, when its tally might very well go into the double digit territory. Ostensibly, Rahul Gandhi and his core team of advisors are totally sold on the idea of projecting a Dalit PM for India as the only answer to upset the OBC applecart of Modi.
Re: Narendra Modi vs the Dynasty: Contrasting Ideas of India
Communal violence bill will be tabled in winter session.. NaMo will have to become Hindutva-vadi post winter session. Cong (I) aiming for complete polarization. If BJP does not up the Hindutva ante from mid-november onwards, it may confuse the core cadres.
It is a delicate surgery, which NaMo and BJP needs to pull through. This bill is one of the last ditched attempt of NAC to hurt modi's inevitable victory and lessen BJP's seat-share.
If engineered carefully, there can be a clear divide in public mind between PIF and AIF forces, with no scope for fence-sitters. The kurukshetra moment.

Any ground level info. I had posted an article a couple of days ago from the sunday guardian, which claimed that BJP has given up on MNS. The hindi news paper has diametrically opposite news. What are your sources saying?

The machinations in UP are far deeper than what meets the eye. Apparently, a section of the ‘secular intelligentsia’ and Dalit ideologues are working overtime to bring together the Congress party and the Dalit czarina in a grand nationwide alliance. What is intriguing is that two former Sangh strategists are allegedly playing a stellar role in creating this huge alliance – one of them overtly and the other more covertly.
