these people are utterly useless even from US pov of building any relationships here if that is part of the intent of embassy staff. maybe the bright ones get posted in other places and the Raj type dregs fight to get a indian posting and enjoy the indolent lifestyle and perks. I find it hard to believe avg level of consulate staff is this bad. I mean Khan sahib is a superpawa on the backs of these people

Not only that, but these people are doing a big disservice to the American taxpayer. If they don't like India - fine, but no they don't ask for another posting or ask for a demotion and go back home. The reason is they're getting a fat per-Diem or stipend and extra "hazardous duty" pay. This matter should be brought up to congress and question why is this so. What is really bad here is that these so called "diplomats" are engaging in religious slurs. I am sure they are not only violating DoS policy, but US laws as well.

Anyway, he and his wife are unlikely to be accorded diplomatic status anywhere else after this. The tax authorities would do better by going against the foreign funded NGOs in India who participated in this and DK could consider initiating action against them in an Indian court. Would DK have loco standi to sue NGOs in India?

Many of these diplomats must be having dual roles. That is why when they are outed they are often removed as their cover is blown.

The original insult was the illegal arrest and custodial rape of an officer of the Indian Government with diplomatic immunity. Even if this immunity was discovered after the fact, the manner in which this was done including the trafficking of individuals from India, let alone the rationale for doing any of it, requires a hard look at whatever this relationship is supposed to be. It still hasn't been done. There isn't even an apology, and instead the NYTimes asks us why we are so upset.

We must simply look at what we give Pakistan for diplomatic benefits and hand the Americans the same benefits, no more no less. If they put up parking meters, we let the access roads to the US embassy be an alternate parking lot, some parts are pretty shady. If they arrest one of ours, we arrest one of theirs. If our kids need to go to US schools (and then be illegally arrested) then their kids need to go to Indian schools, but I assure you that the principal of that school might lay down his/her life before letting any pandu come arrest them in broad day light in front of their peers.

Apparently they care much about local laws which doesn't include smuggling pearls or beef. They don't care if there is workplace discrimination, or underpaying, for example, as long as "laws" are being followed. Paco probably eats more protein than the mali; I'll never forget that, ever. We have to remember this mindset is what we are up against.

Ahem, perhaps people are being too sensitive or at best naive here.

Indians' racism is not that well hidden. I have come across unbelievable contempt for Blacks (on par with anything in Mississipi) and of course there's that little matter of intellectual arrogance over the average American and the questioning of their personal hygiene.

And what are those cows doing wandering and pooping in the cities? Why bother urbanising at all?

I will however comment that it is not that the cows in Delhi are skinny, it is more the cows in America are obese.

What a cosy, incestuous bunch who seem to be afflicted with southasianitis.
If because of this, India is spared visits by SD South Asian envoys, then it wouldn't have been in vain. Just when India in 2001, had worked hard to rid itself of the South Asia tag, the, UPA because of their craveness, allowed the SD back in again.
Is it possible to sue NGOs or their associates in India for contempt of court and most of all for violating the rights of a diplomat. I am sure DK would stand a good chance in a civil action

Wayne, who has put in over 27 years of service in the US government and managed the more than 420 security staff and investigative officers at the mission in New Delhi, was the main liaison to Indian police agencies for high profile visits from the US and was the coordinator from the American side to the anti-terrorism assistance programme.
No Wonder he was instrumental in inaction by Delhi Police ACP who now needs to be investigated.
the Diplomatic Security Bureau since 1988, has worked in Thailand, Colombia, Niger, Singapore and Greece before being posted to India in 2010. He was in charge of the entire security and investigation team in India that included a “deputy regional security officer for investigations, four assistant regional security officers, two office management specialists, one residential security coordinator, six foreign service national investigators, 10 marine security guards and 400 local guard personnel”.
So in addition to running a Costco and recreation center, the US embassy is a fortress with over 400 guards? Whats going on?

Also looks like US diplomats by their own admission are running a smuggling operation and advertising in Facebook for the wares.

The Facebook postings show the SD needs to recall/transfer their diplomats to prevent further erosion and give sensitivity training to the new viceregal tendencies in their dipolmutts.

US PIOs should write to their Congressmen about how US SD personnel are a disservice to US interests abroad.

Might work better with Republicans as Admin is Democrats

There is a difference between US and Indian diplomats and it is not hard to see why. Indian diplomats are some of the brightest ones , who have to clear multiple exams beating thousands of other candidates. From what I hear, the US diplomatic corps entrance is not that hard. And not many people take up these exams either. So what you get is basically below average crap like Alicia and Wayne. And in US, with all its claims of equality and law BS is still racist at heart. You just have to wait for the right moment when they think they are in company of like minded people for them to show their true colors. So it is not surprising that we have these racists in the US embassies and consulates. Probably, the ambassador might be a bit more polished, but she too will be no different from others.

I think US liberals don't understand that cavity search by law enforcement of humans is custodial rape. This is beyond their liberal thought process where anything by law enforcement is acceptable. Even the Supreme Court has endorsed this repugnant behavior which allows perverts to use this on suspects out of spite.

Privatized prisons have contracts with states that guarantee them a 90% occupancy rate - the states have to move a steady flow of prisoners into these institutions in order to fulfill the contract. In places where this is prevalent, look for more and more invasive tactics through which cops aggressively seek to round up prison fodder. This is not the America I was taught to believe in when I was growing up - that America is long dead - perhaps it never even existed in the first place. http://news.yahoo.com/police-turn-routi ... 33510.html

It used to be said that a diplomat was someone who was sent abroad to lie for his state. Now that these views are in the public domain, how can they hope to continue their diplomatic activities in India, and would the SD have to withdraw them. Or does the SD share these views.

Young and Eckert are suing the officers and the county for violating their constitutional rights, including the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizures under the Fourth Amendment. They argue in a complaint filed in a federal court on Friday that Young was “raped under the color of law” and that the officers’ conduct “shocks the conscience.”
“It’s embarrassing, it’s humiliating,” said Scott Palmer, the Dobbs’ attorney. “I was proud of them, they didn’t use pseudonyms, but now their names are forever known as victims of this very intimate, nasty search and it happened on video and it’s all over the world.”

The shame associated with the searches may prevent more victims from coming forward, Palmer said.

John Kerry has had a terrible year at the SD, and it isn't helped by his wife's illness. How did he ever intend to be president is a mystery.
From the debacle over Syria, Brazil, Ed Snowden, and the simmering tensions in the Far East , John Kerry has been rather inept and unfocused and his handling of this situation risks diluting the VCCR protocols. Obama should seek to replace him within the next 6 months

Sanjay the mainstream media in India is the problem and has been corroded and co-opted since 2004, and is unlikely to be much help. In the West the mainstream media is dying, or in the case of the Murdoch press under legal threat due to phone-hacking. This is a perfect opportunity for a new GOI to wring concessions regarding their conduct and content from them. After all market access has a price.

If some Indians are racist, how does that make these "diplomats'" racism acceptable? I have lived in the USA for over a decade, I've seen all kinds of Americans. Some are gem of people, some retards. This is true for any society. These clowns are enjoying here on their taxpayer money and acting like they rule us. If they hate it so much, get the F outta here.

^ The photu selection of NYT artecal on DK is a dead give away to the slant of those who commissioned it .
Now with the digital SLRs 1000s of photus are being clicked on each journalistic occasion, So why a single photu is selected to front an artecal out of these 1000s of captured moments(themselves out of the infinite moments through which a person's expression subtly yet uncontrollably varies) is a very good question to pose when beginning to analyse the objectivity of an artecal.
Another good example of this business is NaMo vs Kejri vs Rahul's photus fronting the media space in the previous half decade.

Anmol,

Great work! MSM can be manipulated with BS stories; which is so much the 1980s! I don't think these turds have the realization of the power and speed of social media in ferreting out information from multiple dimensions. Nowadays social media is reported as news!

So much for the hogwash of humane treatment of servants. What prevented her to provide nutritious food to the mali, if she could indulge the dog?

This woman is neither deserving of the loyalty of the mali or her dog. She is simply sub-human.

I wish these kind of folks and similar minded folks are OUTED for their callous, insensitive and racist attitudes. These folks should 'self-deport' themselves. I am sure there are enough data savy people who can mine the public information about all the diplomutts. Let them justify themselves to the public. Does the rot in the SD start from the top?

Our bottom lines on diplomat issue did not meet, says official
"In the case of former Indian Deputy Consul-General Devyani Khobragade, feverish closed-door negotiations between the Indian Embassy in Washington and the U.S. State Department to secure her right to avoid prosecution for visa fraud broke down by Thursday because India refused to accept a reduced criminal charge that the Department of Justice offered.......However, sources said on condition of anonymity, “A misdemeanour is still a criminal count… For us the idea that an Indian diplomat faces criminal charges was out of question.” Apparently the Indian point of view that even an option requiring Ms. Khobragade to plead guilty to a criminal charge and “pay $1” was unacceptable. As a result, sources said, “We tried everything in the book to see if our bottom lines met and our bottom lines did not meet.” ........"

Ajay Shulka was claiming that DK wanted to accept some form of plea but MEA put a spanner in the works. And he says that was done to protect MEA turf instead of watching for Indian interests. With idiots like him on Indian media, do we need any condescending US newspaper editorials?
