"One of us in the I.O. room would occasionally identify a passenger as female, only to have the officers out on the checkpoint floor radio back that it was actually a man. All the old, crass stereotypes about race and genitalia size thrived on our secure government radio channels.”

“I hated it from the beginning,” he said. “It was a job that had me patting down the crotches of children, the elderly and even infants as part of the post-9/11 airport security show. I confiscated jars of homemade apple butter on the pretence that they could pose threats to national security. I was even required to confiscate nail clippers from airline pilots — the implied logic being that pilots could use the nail clippers to hijack the very planes they were flying."

Obesity killing three times as many as malnutrition
Obesity is now killing triple the number of people who die from malnutrition as it claims more than three million lives a year worldwide, according to a landmark study.
1) Are Amirkhans obese?
Image

Image
Are Americans fat?

“It’s tragic. Obesity has got to be job number one for us in terms of chronic diseases.”

Dr. Julie Gerberding, Director, Center for Disease Control

In its fantasy life America is thin. Tom, Julia, Brad and Angelina are all thin. Cosmo Girl is oh so thin. Even ‘reality’ TV contestants are mostly thin, except for one show about people trying to become thin. But check out the places where regular Americans go, like Vegas and Disneyland. Suddenly it’s a Homer Simpson world of spilling tummies, wobbly posteriors and legs borrowed from elephants.

Bad-mouthers say that the real America is fat, dumb and happy. Fatness, they suggest, stands for greed, a lack of self-control, over-stuffed people addicted to consuming. But before we react to the symbolism, what do the facts say?

The Evidence
Image

Source: OECD Health Data, 2004

The majority of American adults are indeed overweight. Nearly a third are obese. A person who is five feet nine inches tall would normally weight around 145 pounds. Add fifty pounds of excess fat and you are obese. Resulting heart and liver problems cost the U.S. $100 billion a year in medical bills, 1% of GDP. The problem is growing throughout the wealthy West, but yes, more Americans are fat than any other nationality.

In total, one hundred thousand Americans will expire this year due to obesity, says the CDC. At Goliath Caskets in Indiana, sales are booming of 44-inch triple-wide coffins that accommodate 700-pounders.

Consuming more, burning less
We become fat people when we take on board more calories than we burn off in activity, and these days, this calorie equation has become seriously unbalanced. No wonder most American best-sellers are diet books.

But… America isn’t particularly abnormal. The less obese French, Germans and Italians eat almost as many calories as Americans. These Europeans consume even more fat per day - think foie gras, sausage and gelato. And while a quarter of Americans manage no physical activity at all, over a third of British adults are just as slothful. As for the blame game – too much television, desk jobs, cities that cater to cars not pedestrians - none of this is uniquely American either. The United States is fattest because fast-food diets and sedentary lifestyles emerged here first. American girths have been expanding for longer.

Obesity is not a lifestyle choice. It’s a costly problem. But for our purposes, plumpness is a handy metaphor for the broader America. In the minus column is greed - a country that doesn’t know when to stop. On the positive side, fat represents bounty, jolliness and generosity – a country that knows how to put dinner on the table and, what’s more, offer endless second helpings. As we will see frequently in this survey, the real America is rarely all good or all bad. It’s usually both at once.

2) Why are Amirkhans obese?
The usual answer is:
Fast-food diets, sugar and lack of exercise. While all these are true, they are not unique to Amirkhans. There is a secret ingredient to the Amirkhan being the leader when it comes to obesity.

What is that secret ingredient?
Corn.
Image
Obesity in America linked to 'liquid Satan' from Iowa corn fields
The link has not been proven, but the theory is compelling. It suggests that America is doomed to lead the world’s obesity rankings as long as the process by which it elects its presidents starts in Iowa — a state known for its cornfields and corn subsidies.

With a minimum price of $1.90 per bushel of corn guaranteed by the 2007 Farm Bill, activists say that the crop is a guaranteed winner for the farmers of the Midwest — and one of the results is something called super-abundant high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

Known to its detractors as “liquid Satan”, HFCS is the sweetener of choice in the vast bulk of fizzy drinks and packaged cakes and biscuits consumed in the US. Its producers have long enjoyed the solid support of the US Senate and most presidential candidates, who gravitate every four years to Iowa to pledge their allegiance to its voters. “Farm subsidies are a third rail of Iowa politics,” a former staffer on Senator John Edwards’s presidential campaign said yesterday. “You don’t touch them.”
Link

Corn syrup is found in many items produced in Amirkhan. Many times, corn syrup is completely unnecessary in these items.

3) What is the proposed solution to the obesity problem in Amirkhan?

American Medical Association Opens The Flood Gates For New Vaccines and Drugs By Officially Declaring Obesity A Disease
by Dave Mihalovic
PreventDisease.com

The move by the American Medical Association board means that one-third of the U.S. adult population can now officially be diagnosed and treated with a flood of new drugs and vaccines which have been years in the making.

Everything is calculated and carefully controlled when it comes to the pharmaceutically industry and their sales pimps. That includes national attention to a medical policy makeover that now effectively defines 78 million American adults and 12 million children as having a medical condition requiring treatment.

In the end, members of the AMA’s House of Delegates rejected cautionary advice from their own experts and extended the new status to a condition that affects more than one-third of adults and 17% of children in the United States.

“Recognizing obesity as a disease will help change the way the medical community tackles this complex issue that affects approximately 1 in 3 Americans,” said Dr. Patrice Harris, an AMA board member.

The translation for this statement unencrypted means that the medical community can now legally and effectively prescribe untold numbers of pharmaceuticals including vaccines to a large percentage of the U.S. population. There’s nothing like increasing your client base with one vote.

The vote is also guaranteed to step up pressure on health insurance companies to reimburse physicians for the task of discussing obesity’s health risks with patients.

The AMA’s decision essentially makes diagnosis and treatment of obesity a physician’s obligation. As such, it will encourage primary care physicians to sell more drugs instead of encouraging patients to pursue lifestyle and dietary modifications.

Obesity Vaccines in The Making – The Next Ticking Time Bomb

Last year, a new crop of bogus vaccines were claiming to promote weight loss. A study, published in BioMed Central’s open access journal, Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, promoted the claimed benefits of two vaccines which chemically and artificially inhibit the action of natural hormones.

Somatostatin, a peptide hormone, inhibits the action of growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), both of which increase metabolism and result in weight loss. The claim by vaccine scientists in the study was to create a vaccine with modified somatostatin causing the body to generate antibodies to somatostatin, effectively removing this inhibition. However, this could also alter and directly interfere with the other hormones and subsequently cause other problems.

“This study demonstrates the possibility of treating obesity with vaccination”, researchers explained. They continued, “Although further studies are necessary to discover the long term implications of these vaccines, treatment of human obesity with vaccination would provide physicians with a drug- and surgical- free option against the weight epidemic.”

Somatostatin is secreted in several locations in the digestive system including the stomach, intestine, and cells of the pancreas. It is also produced by neurons in the brain. The hormone is eventually then carried to the brain’s pituitary gland which is essentially the target where it inhibits the secretion of growth hormones.

The problem is, when you mess with somatostatin pharmacologically through potent inhibitors, you create a host of other physiological disasters, but the study won’t tell you about those. The most frequent adverse effects are hypothyroidism, cardiac conduction changes, gastro-intestinal reactions, gallstones, reduction of insulin release, hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia and even erectile dysfunction.

Artificially inhibiting growth hormones by generating antibodies to somatostatin would also inhibit the secretion of many other hormones, such as gastrin, cholecystokinin, glucagon, insulin, secretin, pancreatic polypeptide, TSH, and vasoactive intestinal peptide, all which are involved in crucial physiological processes for energy expenditure and weight loss.

Weight Loss Drugs For The Obese Conveniently Hit The Market Last Week

Just last week on June 7th, Belviq sold by Eisai, started arriving in pharmacies. It works on brain chemistry to create a feeling of fullness claimed to help obese patients lose an average of about 5% or so of their starting weight.

The wholesale cost of a month’s supply of Belviq to pharmacies is just under $200, says Gary Palmer, chief medical officer for Eisai. The price that patients will pay depends on their insurance coverage and may vary between pharmacies, he says.

Another new diet drug, Qsymia from Vivus helps heavy folks drop about 10% of their weight by suppressing appetite and increasing the feeling of fullness.

Both drugs are targeted to obese patients, but initial sales of Qsymia which was released late last year have been lower than the company expected. So the AMA’s decision will usher in new demands for the drugs as more Physicians begin prescribing them. These medications are new “tools in the toolbox” for doctors who are treating obese patients, says Harvey Grill, president of the Obesity Society. There are several other new obesity drugs on the horizon, and many others being investigated now, he says.

Other diet medications available to treat obesity include phentermine, which suppresses appetite; and orlistat (Xenical), which keeps some dietary fat from being absorbed by the intestine. Orlistat is sold in a lower-dose, over-the-counter version as Alli. All of them have severe side effects including interfering with the absorption of crucial vitamins and minerals, liver and kidner disease, and even cancer.

The Food and Drug Administration, which has approved the two new prescription weight-loss medications, will now face increased pressure to approve new obesity drugs, spurring new drug development and more widespread prescribing by physicians. That is a guarantee.

Our beloved AMA does not want to talk about the chemical terrorism in our food supply, lifestyle habits or any of the REAL problems that cause obesity in our society. Their only concern is how to treat the symptoms of our dysfunctional society. The AMA’s decision is a contrived, manipulated and biased one, controlled by the pharmaceutical industry to protect only one thing…profits!

Political pandering/subsidies to Corn producers of iowa who happen to be very important in election winning. Corn syrup becomes an ingredient in all food products and people consume it. This leads to obesity epidemic nationwide. Then, the proposed solution is vaccines and tablets which have the potential to bring profits to pharma companies.

Chula Vista Fire Chief Dave Hanneman told CBS, "To detain one of our firefighters in the middle of an incident is ridiculous."
In a statement, Hanneman praised the firefighters for doing what they were trained to do — protecting the scene of an accident with their trucks.
Hanneman told the San Diego Union-Tribune, "The CHP is going to investigate. I think a lot of this had to do with meat-headed idiocy communication."

Death threats against a 5-year-old
http://www.salon.com/2014/02/06/death_t ... l_culture/
Sometimes, I’d just like to have a day in which I don’t have to know how many angry, crazy people are out there. But today, let’s talk about the death threats leveled against a 5-year-old.

Mia Talerico is the titular Charlie of the Disney Channel’s family sitcom “Good Luck Charlie.” Until recently, the show, which ends its four-year run later this month, was most famous for launching Bridgit Mendler into stardom. (If you have little girls in your life, that last sentence makes sense.) But in January, it made headlines for introducing the network’s first gay couple – as the mothers of one of Charlie’s young playmates. As a Disney spokesperson explained last year, “Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness.” Disney has long been a supporter of gay and lesbian families, encouraging “Gay Days” at their theme parks, and including gay characters in recent films “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Frozen.”

Naturally, the appearance of two women and a child depicted as a normal and functioning American family outraged all the usual arch-conservative clowns, including the perennially furious One Million Moms, who’ve accused the network of “plans to corrupt the children’s network with LGBT content.” But along with the usual homophobic pouting, the show’s gay characters have inspired a scary level of vitriol against one of its youngest stars. The Los Angeles Police Department confirms that its Threat Management Unit is investigating “death threats and other harassing messages” toward Talerico. As TMZ reports, messages on Talerico’s Instagram have included “Die Mia, F**king Die in hell! Kill yourself, you deserve to die,” and “a picture of Mia’s head with a bloody fist covering it… with this message, ‘Yes, kill you stupid bitch.’”

Chicago cops accused of raping man with a gun
http://www.salon.com/2014/01/09/chicago ... ith_a_gun/
Perez accuses Chicago cops of beating him and sodomizing him with a gun to force him to cooperate as drug informant in late 2012.

Perez spoke to Khalek about his ordeal, despite advice from his lawyers to save his statements for court. Perez explained that he wanted to make his story public, fearing that otherwise the Chicago officers responsible for his torture would not be sufficiently brought to justice, and police brutality would continue unimpeded. “I cannot live in a society where these guys are still on the streets,” Perez said.

Khalek reported the graphic details of Perez’s account:

Angel’s nightmare began on October 20, 2012, when, he alleges, he was pulled over by two plainclothes officers while working as a driver for Castillo Delivery Service. The officers handcuffed Angel and drove to the police station, where they interrogated him for two hours about drug dealings and robberies he insisted he knew nothing about. The cops specifically wanted information about a contact in Angel’s phone named “Dwayne,” but he refused to tell them anything. Eventually they let him go but not before threatening to harass him every day until he told them what they wanted to hear.

And indeed, Perez was contacted again, and brought back into the police station, where he was shackled in painful postions and held in stress positions. Then he describes how he was raped by a cop gun:

According to Angel, once the cops realized that he wasn’t going to cooperate, they cranked up the torture. They said they were going to give him a “little taste” of jail life, then they bent him over a chair and pulled down his pants as Lopez taunted, “I hear that a big black nigger dick feels like a gun up your ass.”

Next, one of the officers (Angel suspects it was Cline) “inserted a cold metal object, believed to be one of officer’s service revolvers, into the plaintiff’s rectum.” The complaint continued: “The two officers laughed hysterically while inserting the object” and Sergeant Cline joked, “I almost blew your brains out.”

The officers threatened to sodomize Angel again if he didn’t comply. Crying and terrified, the prisoner obliged. He contacted Dwayne and purchased heroin. The police demanded he offer to sell Dwayne drugs as well but Angel refused and was finally let go.

State Department: "We cant believe we dont have exclusive rights to bug phones in the EU. What is NATO coming to?"
The US state department was left fuming after the leak, pointing the finger at Russia for allegedly bugging the diplomats' phones.

"Certainly we think this is a new low in Russian tradecraft," said spokeswoman Jen Psaki, who did not dispute the authenticity of the call.
"We don't comment on leaked alleged telephone conversations, by non-state actors", said a spokeswoman for EU foreign affairs head Catherine Ashton
