Infact during 2009, JP and chiru was given a big boost by eenadu Ramoji Rao to cut CBN to size. His expectation was CBN would just fall short of majority, so that CBN would not have exclusive control. Their cutting plan worked too well, because congress also gave these same people boost.

But this time TDP would have a very very tough fight. So Ramoji Rao and CBN are trying to get together these disparate factions. If you see coverage, Pawan was given a very high coverage by these same news channels. Also that explains why the telangana BJP is not easily coming on board.

So I personally would not be surprised if BJP, TDP, LokSatta, janasena come together or have tacit understanding

Modi from Vadodara (for as much as i hate the fact that he is contesting from 2 seats, baroda is a good choice as central gujarat is one of the congress holds remaining in Gujarat)

NO TICKET to JASWANT SINGH (very good move) so far (hopefully he wont get one)

From Gujarat candidates have been nominated from 24/25 seats. Amit Shah is not among them. From UP too 69/80 candidates are known. No Amit Shah.

The rumor was that after Modi becomes PM, Amit Shah will be CM. So i dont see him fighting LS elections. MSM will love to project Anandi as Namo's successor (she maybe good, but i believe Amit Shah will be the next GJ CM)

Overall, i think barring a few goofups, they have got it mostly right. Now back to square 1. They all need to campaign the heck out in each of their seats and Modi needs to do one more blitzkrieg, he should consider some radically different message, everyone across india must have seen 1 or 2 of his rallies, so to get the attention, he needs to change the message (maybe talk even more about what his govt will do etc..)

I hope so, candidate selection is only one part of the game, this is a wave election and 2 maintain the wave, he needs to keep going. Maybe Vasundhara, Shivraj, Raman Singh also need to do a bunch of rallies outside their states (just thinking loud), but one state where I would focus is Maharashtra and maybe also the Northern Belt (say haryana)

Jats are the most numerically preponderant community in Mathura. This is why Ajit Singh and his party was strong in this constituency.

But then this is Tsunamo season. So anything can happen.

Secondly Hema Malini by dint of her marriage to Dharmendra, now belongs to Jat family. This factor will also help BJP

Sir, UP CM needs to be someone who has roots in UP, BJP guys may like for excellent backroom work for UP BJP, but UP CM has to be someone young and dynamic from UP BJP unit itself. If NaMo had taken Somnath, then later when he has to give up the one seat in Gujarat, it would be difficult making the excuse that he has taken a spiritual call to make Varanasi his dharma-bhumi!

The gullible TVM folks have been taken for a ride, and Tharoor's game is up now.

BJP finalises names for 6 TN seats; PMK-DMDK row almost resolved

On the eve of BJP president Rajnath Singh’s arrival here on Thursday to formally announce the party’s alliance in Tamil Nadu, the State unit finalised the list of candidates for six of the eight Lok Sabha constituencies allocated to it in the seat-sharing talks with allies.

The tussle between two of the allies, the PMK and the DMDK, over seats was also nearly resolved.

On Wednesday night, the PMK was able to get seven — Dharmapurai, Krishnagiri, Arni, Arakkonam, Chidambaram (Reserved), Mayiladuthurai and Vellore — of the eight constituencies on its wish list. Negotiations were continuing for the Tiruvannamalai or Cuddalore seat.

In the BJP, its choice of seats has narrowed the chances of several senior leaders aspiring to contest. A State Election Committee source said Tamil Nadu BJP president Pon. Radhakrishnan would enter the fray in Kanyakumari, which seat he won in 1999 but lost in the subsequent elections.

H. Raja has to settle for Sivaganga
The former State president, C.P. Radhakrishnan, has been allotted Coimbatore, and other senior leaders, L. Ganesan and H. Raja, will be fielded in Chennai (South) and Sivaganga respectively. Mr. Raja had to settle for Sivaganga though he preferred Ramanathapuram, sources said.

While S. Gurumurthy, a youth wing leader, has been renominated in the Nilgiris (Reserved), which he lost in 2009, Ramanathapuram, according to the sources, is likely to be allotted to D. Kuppuramu, an RSS functionary and convener of the Rameswaram Rama Sethu Protection Movement.

A senior leader said the party could not finalise the names for Vellore and Thanjavur as “they had to be adjusted with the preference of the allies.”

“A reworked list was submitted to the central leadership on Wednesday. Mr. Singh is likely to announce the candidates for all eight constituencies on Thursday,” said the leader. Mr. Pon. Radhakrishnan and Mr. Muralidhar Rao had taken the list to Delhi for approval.

Tamilisai left in the lurch
This means senior leader and national secretary Tamilisai Soundararajan has been left in the lurch as her preferred constituency, Sriperumbudur, is likely to be allotted to the MDMK. In a similar case, another prominent leader, Vanathi Srinivasan, could not be accommodated in Coimbatore or Tirupur. It is unclear whether she will be given any other seat.

I feel bad for Tamilisai Soundararajan. I heard her speaking Tamil during NaMo's Trichy Rally. Man, man, man! This lady can speak! She is a rapid-fire machinegun!

I have a feeling BJP negotiators Pon Radhakrishnan, etc. may not have negotiated in all honesty and fairness. I think they have tried to cut down other possible rivals in TN BJP.

Soundararajan is one case. Salem seems to have gone down really bad with the local BJP Salem team especially as they were promised the Lok Sabha seat after Ramesh's murder by the Jihadis. And there were noises that DMDK was not keen on Salem but were given it nevertheless.

in some areas, it has become 'can't survive if you can't speak hindi'.

near my home in OMR, the grocer, barber, iron man (no not the superhero), medicine shop guy - all learned to speak passable hindi to cater to the hindi speaking office goers living in the area.

PUNE: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has poached six candidates from other parties so far, so that party president Sharad Pawar can play a decisive role, post election. The party stressed on the candidates' ability to win to give them the Lok Sabha tickets.

"The future of the NCP is by and large linked to its showing in Maharashtra and Pawar's political future hinges crucially on the 2014 polls. He is playing a high stakes political game in Maharashtra, with unrest against the Congress-NCP government in the state and the Centre. This is going to be a difficult election for us and hence the party has decided to set aside demands of NCP workers and nominate outsiders from some constituencies," an NCP MP said, requesting anonymity.

The party is contesting 21 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, while alliance partner Congress will put up candidates in 27 constituencies. The NCP got eight seats in the 2009 polls, but wants to achieve double figures this time. Hence, setting aside party workers' demand for nominations, Pawar decided to give tickets to "outsiders" who can win seats.

The NCP has nominated rebel Shiv Sena MP Anand Paranjape from Kalyan-Dombivli and Sena spokesperson Rahul Narvekar from Maval constituency. In Ahmednagar, it has given a ticket to Rajiv Rajale of the Congress, while in Kolhapur the party has chosen Dhananjay Mahadik, who has in the past hobnobbed with all political parties, including the Congress and BJP.

In Raver, the NCP has nominated Manish Jain as its candidate. Jain was elected to the legislative council as an independent candidate after defeating the NCP candidate. In Amravati, the party is relying on independent MLA Ravi Rana's strength. Rana's wife Navneet is contesting on an NCP ticket.

Even after expressing open dissent with the party leadership, sitting NCP MP Udayanraje Bhosale has been renominated from the Satara Lok Sabha constituency. Bhosale has distanced himself from the party since 2009 and has repeatedly challenged the party leadership. He has said that he won the last election on his own strength. His "strength" in the constituency made him the NCP candidate.

However, Pawar's strategy to poach candidates from other parties failed in Hatkanangle constituency, which is represented by Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) chief Raju Shetty. In 2009, Shetty defeated the NCP chief's confidante Nivedita Mane.

With no NCP leader ready to contest against Shetty and Pawar failing to lure leaders from other parties, the NCP decided to leave the constituency for the Congress. Senior leader Kallappa Awade is contesting the seat.

Advani used the RSS to ensure that he is named deputy PM. The team and the leaders he created were his biggest strength. They owed their rise to him and remained loyal. Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh or Govindacharya, the loyalists who took on Vajpayee for Advani were later bitter about their leader offering them little solace.

But the second rung leaders' complete dependence on Advani was over once RSS chose Modi over Advani as the PM candidate. The diktat was clear: those who do not agre had no seat at the high table.

A factional leader has very little to do without his faction. Now, all he is left with is just one or two of the old loyalists. Everybody else has fallen in line with the RSS decision.
