Was the video on Dr.Satyapal Singh's facebook page linked in BR? The video was said to be from Baghpat, when Sunny Deol had visited the place for campaigning. The crowd response, density, the place ambience all looked very similar to Rajasthan.

Then its a sign of new empire is being formed (if the role of animals are reversed). Remember the Great Vijayanagar Empire rose in a place where role-reversals has happened. In Hampi, a rabbit chased away a pack of dogs. After watching this incident, Harihara Raya and Bukka Raya established their capital there, rest is history.

'Is baar Modi sarkar' ad was shown repeatedly during T20 WC. Nice marketing targeting the young crowd. What I liked the most was 'Modi,Modi' chant in the background. Cricket loving crowd will immediately associate this with 'India, India' or 'Sachin, Sachin' chants during the match. Awesome.

heard interesting Bhajapa FM ads in Bangalore.

Ms Mehangai and Mr Corruption want to leave India after 10 years of total dhammal, as they are scared that "Voh aa rahaa hai (he is coming??)" Voice Over "Voh kaun (Who he)" "Modi aa Rahaa hai, Main to chali! (Modi is coming! and I am going now"

Very crisp and professional!

Op-ed: Jaswant Singh, BJP's odd one out
Swapan Dasgupta | Updated: March 23, 2014 13:08 IST
I recall first meeting him at a BJP National Executive meeting in Cochin in 1987 where, inhaling deeply on his cigarette, he pronounced that many intellectuals had an "etymological block" about the BJP. Indeed, almost each encounter produced at least one memorable line which made me wonder how such a unique individual managed to remain on the front benches of a major political party. As someone who has celebrated individualism, even eccentricity, I always professed a soft corner for the man who admired Lord Curzon's tome on Persia, who made time to visit one of Rangoon's last second-hand bookshops and who celebrated the contribution of Princely Rajputana to national life.

Chronologically, he belonged to the pre-Independence Liberal Party of Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru or the Unionist Party of Sir Chhotu Ram. Apart from one wing of the Swatantra Party that lived and died with the privy purses, he did not fit the neat compartments of Indian politics. It was truly remarkable that he survived on the front benches of a major political party for as long as he did.
....................
Vajpayee, it was uncharitably said, was overwhelmed by his mellifluous use of the Queen's English. Bhairon Singh's patronage was more earthy and grounded in Thakur equations that make sense to only the banas.
....................

In an age when politics demands unending constituency contact, Jaswant Singh was a clear misfit. His political approach was too rarefied.

I don't think Jaswant Singh was the victim of an ideological purge. Had that been the case, he would have been discarded a long time ago. The BJP sponsored him for Parliament on nine different occasions - a rare honour. The only occasion he was rejected, he unfurled the banner of rebellion.

Jaswant says it is a question of his "honour". The party could turn around and say it was also a question of loyalty. Both are attributes this officer and gentleman will understand.

The good thing about BJP ads in T20 is that NM's (or any other politician) face is not shown. They got to make sure that too much of modi is not seen in tv. The yuppi crowd likes yuppi things only. That is what these animated ads are delivering. The con ads in contrast are too boring (without any message) and it gets irritating when you keep seeing that 45 year old kid after every two overs. For me, it gets disgusting when they make sure I notice that the weaver is a muslim by giving him significantly more focus than any other character in the ad, barring the kid himself.

Assam goes to the polls on Monday, April 7, for five parliamentary seats, but so far there has been no sign of Dr Manmohan Singh campaigning for the Congress in the state.

The PM is a Rajya Sabha member from Assam.

Congress candidates Paban Singh Ghatowar, Rani Nara and others have sent frantic messages to Dr Singh, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, requesting the prime minister to campaign in their constituencies, but so far there is no sign of Dr Singh.

The BJP's prime ministerial candidate has been quick to capitalise on this. When Narendra Modi campaigned in Assam recently, he mocked the prime minister for representing the state for 23 years in Parliament without caring

Technically, MuraliRavi-ji, BJP is in the fight in 11 constituencies (only Diphu, Dhubri, and Kokrajhar are impossible). But honestly, I would be surprised if they won more than 4-5. Unless, NaMo wave is particularly intense, I don't think they can win 6 seats. Out of the seats they are in the fight in,

1) Karimganj depends completely on a Muslim vote split. Hindus are the minority here (about 45%), so unless Muslim vote splits and Hindu vote polarises, it is very hard. Hindu vote will polarise, but Muslim vote may not split.
2) Barpeta is again another seat where Hindus and Muslims are in equal numbers, so depends on a vote split in opponent camp. IMO, BJP unlikely to win any of them.

That brings BJP down to being in contest in 9.
3) Silchar is a little iffy since they renominated the octogenarian Kabindra Purkayastha (viewed as honest, but not very effective). But given that AUDF is taking a bite out of Sushmita Deb's vote, and Hindus have no choice but to vote BJP, I guess BJP can win.
4) Gauhati is probably one of BJP's best choices. Bijoya Chakraborti should sail through. Her opponents are just not that strong. She is not facing Himanta Biswa Sarma, which would have been disastrous.
5) Mangaldoi is hard this time because Kirip Chaliha of Congress is contesting, and Ramen Deka has a lot of anti-incumbency to contend with.
6) Tezpur will depend on how much Nepali vote Moni Kumar Subba can take from the BJP. But Ram Prasad Sharma is probably the best choice here, and BJP has done a good job. Also, Joseph Toppo fighting from the AGP means that he will eat into the tea tribe vote of the Congress. Hard fight here, impossible to predict.
7) Nagaon is the other strong BJP seat. Here BJP will probably sail through, though AGP is trying to split BJP vote. Depends on vote consolidation abilities of BJP, but BJP still has an edge.
8 ) Kaliabor is very hard since this is a place where BJP has been traditionally weak, and Gogoi family members contest from here. Possible to win here, but unlikely, IMO. Also, BJP has no candidates of the stature of Tarun Gogoi.
9) Jorhat is a toss up seat. Traditional stronghold for Congress, but this time, they have fielded the incumbent octogenarian, Bijoy Krishna Handique, and he faces a lot of anti-incumbency. BJP has fielded the dynamic Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, who has a lot of things going for him. Also with HN Goswami of the AGP joining BJP, can get a lot more caste Hindu vote bank. This is a seat where BJP could very possibly cause an upset, but still a toss up.
10) Dibrugarh is again a hard seat. Paban Singh Ghatowar of the Congress is one of the dynamic faces here, and he faces the Rameshwar Teli who had lost the 2011 Assembly elections (by a whisker, I admit, but still). Unless Modi wave can help Teli, this one is a no no.
14) Lakhimpur is a good seat for the BJP. Sarbananda Sonowal is contesting here against Ranee Narah of the Congress, who has a lot of things going against her, including internal party sabotage (many prefer her rival, Bobeeta Sharma). This is a seat BJP should not lose.

In my final estimate, BJP has an advantage in 3 seats (Gauhati, Nagaon, and Lakhimpur), and there are 3 more (Silchar, Tezpur, and Jorhat) toss ups. Therefore, I would say that the BJP can, at best win around 6 seats. But there is no seat where BJP is absolutely certain.

By the way, MuraliRavi-ji, where is the article giving BJP 6 seats in Assam? Can you please link it?

Thanks Nagesh ji, so i guess they can in theory hit 6 seats. Here is the link to IBTL's latest survey, they keep updating this page every day as the survey progresses. You can see their old surveys in their website. Assam has still not been posted on this page, but you can see it on IBTL's twitter account.

Hari Sir,

Imagine the effort that is going on behind the scenes to organize these rallies, to bring people there etc...

My guess is that they plan on getting at least 50-75K people for each rally at a minimum. That should quite easily electrify things at a local level and give the cadre the extra boost to bring people in to the booth. Again, Varanasi election of 2009 should be a homework every BJP karyakarta and BJP voter should read. Mukhtar Ansari was well on his way to winning around 1 PM on polling day. Then panic struck and the cadre and voters got into action to help MMJ win. This time from 8 AM to 6 PM, every booth needs to be flooded with BJP voters and cadre. This is exactly why Namo will rally in every seat. He is a micromanager to the core.

muraliravi garu,

I can only imagine the amount of concentrated, co-ordinated effort and resources being brought to bear... this is indeed a make or break juncture for the nation, IMO.

Hope NM gives time and attn to the east and the south - primarily WB, Odisha, AP, TN and KL - to shore up vote share - seats are a far cry. These will be the next catchment areas 5 yrs down...

After long protests by Jamia residents backed by AAP and Congress leaders on Sunday, the two students who were detained by the police in connection with the arrest of IM operatives were released late evening. They were, however, asked by the special cell to join the probe later.
The students were detained after Delhi Police busted an Indian Mujahideen module with the arrest of four terrorists in Rajasthan, who were planning a terror attack during Lok Sabha elections. The police made the arrest after they got specific input from the Intelligence Bureau. A significant amount of explosives were also recovered during the arrests.
