Kim Kardashian for US Ambassador to India.
Re: India-US Strategic News and Discussion
If that's the case, you can forget about the revival of the relationship. ?
Re: India-US Strategic News and Discussion
The best ambassador from the US would be a famous India-loving Hollywood star, now in semi-retirement,who could sync with Bollywood and expand cultural ties dramatically.Ivy League types are too snooty for their liking and would invite an equal opposite response from our highly cultured babus of the MEA.The job of an ambassador is to make friends, across the spectrum, both high and low, issues of protocol, etc.,professional diplomacy left to the minions. If notorious bootlegger Joe Kennedy could be made ambassador to the Court of St.James,I'm sure a Hollywood star would do far better than that Nazi bumchum,
Any names? What about "Rambo",or would one want a sultry sex symbol?!

Most U.S. reps in India, inclusing the most important ones like Blackwill, Bunker, Bowles, Moynihan and Galbraith were all non-career appointees - these were academics or politicians and not of the lightweight category either. OTOH, the U.S. reps in TSP are overwhelmingly career diplomats.
Also, almost all reps in the USSR (especially in the Cold War years) were career diplomats.......
Any significance to this?

Re: India-US Strategic News and Discussion
I suggest Snoop Dogg (or other rap expert) as the next US representative in India. None of the other names proposed have any sort of affinity or connection to the Bharatiya culture. On the other hand the rap experts are well-versed in the 3-pitch (anudatta-udatta-svarita) or 2-pitch recitation accents, and their recitation closely resembles the Rgvedic recitation. Especially the blacks of USA have a high affinity for this style and many of them have a good respect for the Indians. There should be an effort to recruit Vedic reciters from this community. I urge the Vedic and Hindu institutions to strongly support this initiative.

Need to understand how things work in DC.
For India appointment the DC folks get money from large lobby donors not to appoint any prominent person as Amby. US Est. get money from international countries to not to have close relationship with India. PRC is one of the prominent countries. The other is the KSA_P axis
Since the Business lobby is small for India and Human rights groups have loud voices against India there is nobody to support India in DC. This is the situation since 1977 since when Carter visited India. Indians in US also in the 70s and 80s actually supported this policy citing emergency and loss of free press during IG times. This was converted to a great advantage by India's adversaries for more than 40 years and it is still continuing. So only academic and lightweight people are the point person.
But the US has deep engagement with Indians in India and Indians in US for more than 50 years. They use that network to engage and 'persuade' India and Indian policy for the last 50 years. DIE groups in India happily oblige to the demands and hence US does not need any Amby in India.

Who ever is going to come must be prepared to get C-T searched because NM is not going to forget what SD did. It seems Nancy aunty was rattled at the forceful manner with which NM has spoken about the incident.

Iran has appointed a person involved in hostage crisis as the UN ambassador and everyone is hopping mad. This person says he was only acting as an interpreter during the crisis. Previously he was an ambassador in Europe. SD has been sitting on his visa for months. May be India should appoint DK as the next UN ambassador.

American Embassy school in trouble as teachers leave
Time to close down the tax-evading AES. Good move by GoI to withhold visa renewals till the school furnishes the visa and salary details of everyone. Close it by attrition. Don't renew the visas, and the school directors will close it on their own! Double standards by US! Want to strip search diplomats but itself doesn't want to follow laws of other countries !...
Paul Chmelik, the director of the American Embassy School, recently admitted in a note that the premier institution was going through challenging times.
“Via messages from the principals, many of you are now aware that the departure of faculty members due to visa renewal issues has begun. Such departures may continue during the days ahead until a resolution to the issues are orchestrated by high-level diplomatic discussions that are taking place between the Government of India and the US Government,” Chmelik wrote in his community note on March 28 last.

Re: India-US Strategic News and Discussion
What is the point of closing AES and letting people leave the country without closing retro taxes (of individuals and school)? Looks like MMS wants to repeat Italian marines episode and hope it sticks. Let the people leave country, file charge sheet and then complain to your citizens that they are not coming back. Is that the game plan?

The chaprasi is obeying his master's orders in his final days as Indian PM,attending to departing "guests" in traditional Indian manner. There will be a small exodus of individuals who have been actively indulging in destabilising India, who will find it exceptionally "hot" this summer when a new regime takes over. The quislings and their ilk will be exposed regardless of position. We saw the first "rat" to leave the sinking ship, none other than the US ambassador herself. She read the writing on the wall!

Microsoft wants to kickstart the next billion-dollar Indian tech company
Microsoft Ventures is revving up its India Accelerator program. The Indian arm of the Redmond, Wash.-based tech giant today announced that it’s accepting applications for its fifth Ventures Accelerator batch in Bangalore, India. Microsoft India is looking for a mix of Indian startups and international companies (interested in Asian markets) to participate. The program is scheduled to kick off in July and end with a demo day in November.“Our Accelerator is turning out to be one of the most competitive programs in this part of the world, with hundreds of startups wanting to be part of it,” Ravi Narayan, director of Microsoft Ventures in India, said in a statement. “The visibility, reach, and intensity of the program drives startups to achieve tremendous progress during the four months of the program.”16 startups made it into the summer batch, Microsoft India’s fourth, which will “graduate” in late May. They range from SlideRule, a startup facilitating online course discovery, to Appointy, a scheduling software startup that aims to help businesses grow virally.36 companies graduated from the first three batches, according to Microsoft India, which said 82 percent of the companies received funding during or after the accelerator program.Interested startups can apply for the Bangalore accelerator program here.“We will work closely with our industry partners, mentors, and panel of jury to identify exceptional technology entrepreneurs who are solving big problems at scale, both for India and global markets,” said Narayan. “We welcome all technology startups, from India and abroad, to send in applications.”

Wrt to the KVP affair I don't think it is worth the paper that its printed on. I say lets go ahead and chargesheet USSD John Kerry downwards in DK affair custodial rape/keeping away from justice/kidnapping cases. In any case at this rate someday Mr Larry Page of Google and his key engineers will also be chargesheeted for violation of Defence of India act for providing Google Maps.
Re: India-US Strategic News and Discussion
If the Samsung boss Lee Kun-Shee can be summoned by the Supreme Court to appear before the Ghaziabad court on an arrest warrant ,regarding a $1.4M non-payment to an Indian firm, there is no reason why Yanqui individuals have to be spared when they commit a crime or offence. Action should first be taken against those in the US embassy who have violated Indian rules as an example to others.Once this happens, the rest will fall in line.
Re: India-US Strategic News and Discussion
I've been reliably informed that a certain Sven Smalgand, who works closely with Bjorn Biglund, has submitted the following comment to the NYT blog...

A curiously twisted little article by Mr. Harris. Starts out by outlining the fracas over a female Indian diplomat's arrest and strip-search, and then quickly devolves into a series of ever higher pitched whines about Western diplomats' lack of access to cheese & wine, and apparently tax-free employment schemes within the US embassy in India.
Observing this fascinating episode in US-Indian relations from a distance, and reading the US, Indian and British media on the subject, I discern that: (a) the allegations against the Indian diplomat seems a cack-handed effort at settling scores of some kind, via an unwarranted public arrest and cavity exploration; (b) the US mission in India is a den of inequity, ranging from apparently tax-avoidance trickery and a strange variety of open-faced racism, to pearl smuggling from China; (c) junior diplomats and security staff were running their own human trafficking operation, including spiriting out people facing court action using embassy cover, and under the guise of anti-slavery concerns; and (d) the "security barrier" was basically a set of standard roadblocks which was placed in addition to already strong police cover, and was something which were inconvenient for and disapproved by other embassies in the area.
That's just some of the issues that popped up in the articles. All this happened under Nancy Powell's watch. That's why she was "retired"..
