In Pakistan, Modi is seen as a villain for his alleged involvement in the Gujarat riots. His jingoistic nationalism could backfire as ISI and other terror groups would mount more terror strikes across India.

To many countries, Modi is unacceptable. Though UK and others have started to open doors to Modi, the real test will be relations with America. The Khobragade incident, resignation of American Ambassador Nancy Powell and his Hindutvawadi thinking would be the biggest challenge for Modi.

Hopefully we get out of sob stories and ask several questions :
(1) Is pukistan secular
(2) Why are Arabs not secular and frothing at mouth about elections in India
(3) What do we do to throw 'international' (meaning by few nations selectively) image away and build our own.
(4) Perfidity of nuke blackmail and support to napaki photochori nuke program on one hand, sanctions on India, silence about sale of paki nukes to Saudi, etc.

We need to point out clearly how such eyesore policies are going around in countries even about nuke proliferation. We need to examine and question lack of secularism in Arab world. We need to examine if secularism has taken a backseat in USA and since how long ( years, decades, centuries). We need to secure strategic oil reserves & examine greedy cartels determining arbitrary pricing. As also underlying root causes of all this perfidity.

I hope we get back to our "self sufficiency" theme from the 60s and 70s rather than the ultra capitalistic idealist model which says that we just do what we are good at and buy what we are not or cannot cheaply do. That way we prevent other countries from blackmailing us. It works for the US because it is the biggest economy, but now they have to buy even the smallest thing from China.

On the IT front, I hope we get into product development, rather than mere coolie work for Unkil. We are an self proclaimed "IT superpower" but our Govt websites are piss poor and down most of the time. We need them to work like they do in the US. There is no reason why we cannot get to that level of reliability.

The first, second and third goals of the NaMo govt should all be about how to get reelected in 2019. Most policies, primarily economic policies, should be directed towards this goal only. This need not mean doles like NREGA but can also be about job growth and kick starting manufacturing. Also we need to protect new businesses perhaps by creating something like a SSI lite, this time perhaps not based on output but perhaps on number of people employed.
