Watched the full 'aap ki adaalat' - awesome interview.
Notice one thing. Rajat Sharma ji doesn't even mention AK49 in the list of 'bade bade neta'. Twice he asked questions that went like 'many big leaders such as sonia, rahul, mulayam, and so on....' didn't even mention AK49. Rajat ji has his head in the right place.

^^ There'll be approvers galore. And lotsa dirty linen washed in public, I predict. Beer and popcorn time, soon, I predict.

NM has spoken little but has done quite a bit in this regard - having courts with daily hearings in corruption cases involving high politicians and officials itself will go a long way. Of course, the lokpal minefiled remains to be suitably amended so that 'em poison pills are neutralised. Same with other phree 'rights' acts (riots acts) that UPA merrily enacted in its second term - RTE, RTF, nrega, blah blah.

Bibek Debroy, among the more straight-shooting intellectuals out there, who, rarely in academia, actually had 'integrity' in the real sense of the word has some mighty interesting thing to say about the pimtellectual class and its trepidations in lootyens dilli right now...

On how the system works:
I will give you my personal experience, which is hardly history. The story-line is simple. I used to work in a research institute. One particular piece of research was found to be politically unpalatable and I was told any subsequent publications would have to be politically vetted. I found this to be unacceptable and resigned. The rest of the nitty-gritty doesn’t matter, since this blog isn’t about that either. It is about the consequences. The direct consequences on me are fairly obvious. First, there were government commissions/task forces I was a member of. I was either politely asked to quit, or terms weren’t renewed. Second, I wasn’t made a member of any fresh ones. Third, government projects that were in “final” stages of negotiation, no longer materialized. Academia today is somewhat different from Shenoy’s era. Unlike then, there are a plethora of research institutes, not necessarily “government” and these are a bit more “tolerant”. Had academia been traditional colleges/universities, in all probability, I might not have found a job and like Shenoy, would have gone off abroad. Indeed, there is an esteemed research institute in India. It offered me a job, but conditional on my not writing for the newspapers. Obviously, I didn’t accept it and obviously, it isn’t the one I work in now. Thus, there were the negatives. And I was excluded from the positive spillovers of government patronage. Let’s not deny, there is plenty of that, in multifarious ways.
ON what his fellow intellectuals did in response:
The reaction of academic/intellectual friends/acquaintances was even more interesting. They divided themselves into three categories: (a) very limited few who defended me in the sense of standing up for intellectual freedom; (b) the majority, who pretended the incident hadn’t occurred; and (c) quite a few, to whom, I became persona non grata. Weren’t (b) and (c) bothered about “intolerance”? You could argue that this intolerance was an internal matter for one particular research institute and why should they stick their noses into it? I don’t find this argument terrible plausible. In my experience, intellectuals do stick their noses into everything under the sun. You could argue that (b) and (c) should legitimately be worried about more weighty national matters of intolerance. Why bother about a minor bit of trivia concerning one individual? Perhaps. But one is then buying the argument that stands on intolerance are subjective and not based on principles. They are a function of perception and what I regard as important. For that intellectual segment, I read it quite differently. All this talk of intolerance is bosh, bunkum and balderdash. As I have said, they have benefited from a network of government patronage. Post-16 May, that structure of government patronage is likely to change. That explains the intellectual trepidation and tremor.
Oh, read it all, I say:

http://indianexpress.com/article/india/ ... ts-threat/
Popular Tamil novelist R N Joe D’Cruz finds himself “facing threats” and “hate mails” after he expressed his support for BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, hailing his Gujarat regime as “a visionary government”.

There had been a lot of opposition, threat and blackmail after he posted his pro-Modi views a few days ago on Facebook, Joe, a Sahitya Akademi award recipient and a champion of the cause of fishermen, told PTI.

On the reaction in literary circles, he alleged “certain people blackmail. Others threaten that my literary work that are currently getting translated will be in trouble. For instance, a translation of ‘Aazhi Soozh Ulagu,’ which is under the process of publication in English will be halted, they say. Some have sent hate mails that shower abuses.”

As many have said here, Baru feels the same, at some point MMS should have resigned

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/home ... 688050.cms

What according to you were the two biggest mistakes Manmohan Singh made?

First, he should have contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2009 and returned to office with his own mandate. Second, he should have quit when it became clear that the Congress's priority was to bring Rahul in rather than defend the PM.

Reminds me of a hit Hollywood movie where there was this very successful law firm being run like a family. The lead role, a smart graduating lawyer, gets a job in the firm and his life was transformed to the highest level of luxury and opulence, along with his wife. But soon he found out that there are dark sides in the family and how no one leaves the family alive, he wanted to get out of the family, only to be killed along with his wife. So MMS could not quit because his entire family will be wipped off!.....

I recall how everyone dhoti shivers at the very idea of open war with pak coz pak is now a new clear armed state.... until enqyoob floated this radical theory that pak could actually be nook-nanga only.

Seems to me, this series of revealations that show the dynasty in true light appear to signal that dynasty is nook-nanga only. That their hold over the agencies and other cloak-dagger stuff that brings to bear unspeakable things getting done in the dark of the night and down the Orwellian memory hole the next morning is all vaporized only.... gone.

If the perception that the dynasty is nanga w.r.t. power gains further traction, it will result in a self-fulfilling prophecy. Expect action to happen soon, from the dynasty's side in sending out a signal to the likes of baru and parekh at the least... wouldn't be surprised if assets like dawood or eye-yes-eye etc are used to achieve such signaling only... BTW, anyone recall the soonanda pushed out kar case? what's it if not a signal sent out only, loud and clear, eh?

>> If the perception that the dynasty is nanga w.r.t. power gains further traction

this is how even empires that span galaxies can unravel in non-linear fashion as the perception of control n cohesiveness of Trantor/Coruscant is broken in the minds of outlying federations and star systems...suddenly the trade guilds, the intergalactic miners , the leaders of smaller planetary systems sense their opportunity and declare Azadi. strange things happen. there is often little to no bloodshed but the end result is certain once things progress beyond a tipping point and inevitable collapse of the Imperium follows. as always the smugglers , the shadow priests, the renunciates who obey no master have their ears closest to ground because their lives depend on it.

in that sense if the satta bazar starts betting on who goes to jail, who goes into exile, and who in enforced retirement that would surely be a barometer.

What's with MMJ saying what he is?

"Gujarat model is not for all.Gujarat model will not be BJP model"
"There is no Modi wave. Only BJP wave"
"JS expulsion could have been avoided"

Or is this just a question of ToI or MSM interpreting MMJ just as they want it?

The details are at http://facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10151988034076922 .

===========

As per state of the affairs in the nation, India after independence has never been at such a nadir that now all hopes are pinned on just one person. There is no plan, there is no group --- there is just one face. And hope that making him PM will reduce all problems !!!

There is a tall NaMo-wave aka TsuNaMo . There is no doubt about it. But which powerful entities created TsuNaMo? Was it organic? Or is it created by elitemen using massive media? And if elitemen created this TsuNaMo, then is it Indian elitemen or foreign elitemen? And if both elitemen, then in which %? And what is the bill amount we all have to pay to these TsuNaMo creators after 16-may-2014? If TsuNaMo was organic , then the costs will be zero. But if the TsuNaMo was organic, then where was the need to give tickets to nefarious persons like murti-breaker Paresh Raval , Hema Malini, Smriti Irani, Kitan Kher and 10s of nefarious characters from Congress?

The arrival of murti-breakers like Paresh Raval etc can be explained as following

1. TsuNaMo heavily depends on media-owners and media-sponsors

2. The media-sponsors are demanding that their agents like Paresh Raval , Irani etc be given posts in BJP

3. The media-owners are having their way, as BJP has no media of its own to speak of.

IOW, I am citing arrival of Paresh Raval etc as proof to prove my CT that now BJP is heavily dependent on foreign mediamen.

So TsiuNaMo is not so organic as many andhbhakts would like to fantasize. TsuNaMo has been generated by massive media engineering and worse, much of it is media owned by MNC-owners. The MNC-owners proved their mettle in Delhi-2013 elections that they can twist hald the middle class votes via media and this was sufficient to make BJP accept FDI , including FDI in defence. Te FDI in multi-brand was let off as a face saver. The FDI is dal-dal. The FDI as implemented in India means that foreigners will have to pay NO tax while locals will have to pay tax es. So locals will have to pay 30% tax on income, 12% tax on value added, excise etc and SEZ/FSI will have to pay no tax. So locals will get wiped out due to this non-level field. This FDI is worse than imperialism, as foreigners can own economy without having responsibility to run the polity !!! And BJP has now promised to continue same FDI tax rules. Massive FDI will create huge growth and also give employment. But local business owners will get wiped out. And after a decade, MNC-owners will promote missionaries en-masse . All in all, India is now on the way to become (10% SoKo , 90% Phillipines) .

India is now a car where MNC-owners have remote control and NaMo will sit in the driver seat. "Your ruler, our rule" --- welcome to FDI-based-media.

===========

About BJP manifesto,

1. Detailed law-drafts to implement all tall promises are missing

2. As expected, Kashi Vishvanath Devalaya and Krishna Janambhoomi Devalaya have been removed. So we have PM from Kashi, and Kashi Vishvanath will have to wait. So much for "har har mahadev".

3. "Population stablization" finds a mention, but NO law-draft to achieve it.

4. Nothing on expelling Bangladeshi infiltrators.

5. A welcome promise to allow Hindus from Bangladesh. But no procedure to differentiate whether incomer from Bangladesh is Hindu or non-Hindu

Either the details are all ready, or the new Govt will appoint 100 committees to work out all details. And when will these committees give drafts?

====

All in all, absence of details, dependence on foreign media and massive coming "FDI with no taxes" etc doesnt point to a good "future with solid foundation".
