My only feedback in fourth phase is from Silchar, where BJP seems to be doing well. With 75%+ voting, BJP should be safely home. Out of the 8 seats in Assam where polling has been held, I can confidently give BJP at least 3.

Atanu Bhuyan (ex?) Newsline gives Silchar and Diphu to BJP. Karimganj to AIUDF.

Nagsheks ji, Atanu Bhuyan has predicted out of 8, 6 BJP, 1 Con, 1 AIUDF. He has been quite accurate before.

It is quite possible BJP will get 6. However, IMO, some of them like Tezpur are close, so I am not as confident as Atanu Bhuiyan.

My aunt's vote has already been voted by someone. People are voting for others too. All bogus votes for BJP.
I confronted 'peethaseen adhikari'. He was accomplice. Didn't act. I created ruckus, started clicking pics. Few of my fellow villagers came. Tried to convince on Communal grounds, telling muslims are also doing same in their dominant villages.
Election officers were bought out, no ink was put on bogus voters. I'll file complaint when I return from my village.
Voting % in my village in Muzaffarnagar was 86+. 50+ booths in area had 80+. Even the dead voted for BJP. Such was the level of bogus voting

We need Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Is the NDA in a good position there? NDTV reports that Congress is leading in Karnataka. Me lungi shivering at that possibility.

Jayalalithaa slams BJP, says it is no different from Congress
KARUR/PERAMBALUR: In her first ever attack against BJP in her ongoing election campaign, AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday said the party was no different from Congress on the emotive Cauvery issue.

-With an eye on Lok Sabha seats in the elections the saffron party has not even mentioned the issue in its 2014 poll manifesto,- she said in back-to-back election rallies in Karur and Perambalur constituencies.

Slamming Congress, DMK and BJP for their -betrayal- of the state on the vexed river water dispute, she asked the state electorate to give a firm drubbing to the candidates of all three parties, saying they should lose deposit in the April 24 Lok Sabha polls.

Going down memory lane, Ms. Jayalalithaa reasoned that she had quit NDA in 1999 on the Cauvery issue, after her pleas for implementation of the interim award of the Cauvery Tribunal by a body of officials with control over Karnataka dams were not heeded to by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Instead, he had constituted Cauvery River Water Authority with Prime Minister as its head and four southern state Chief Ministers as members even as DMK was ruling Tamil Nadu then.

-I opposed the Authority as it would be of no use. Since the BJP declined to form an empowered group of officials, and that serving no justice for Tamil Nadu, I withdrew AIADMK from the government and partys support to NDA later,- she said.

The Centre then approached Mr. Karunanidhi to get his approval for setting up of the Authority after which DMK aligned with BJP and also participated in the Cabinet, she said.

Ms. Jayalalithaas attack, which came on a day when BJP leader Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a public meeting in Chennai, is the first direct one against the latter as opposition parties including DMK and Congress have questioned her election strategy of sparing BJP from any criticism.

While the chances of both Congress and BJP to form government in the upper riparian state of Karnataka were equal, neither could do the same in Tamil Nadu and therefore both parties had similar approach towards the Cauvery issue, she alleged.
Either TN NDA has become a serious political rival to AIADMK, or the Modi-Rajnikant meeting must have jolted Amma!

^On that note, by this morning, I have obtained confirmation from 100 of my friends and relatives that they will vote for Modi. The only problem was, they were already going to do so without any prodding. :(( Going by the support to Modi across different sections of the society in social and geographical terms, I have started believing that it is going to be a TsuNamo.

This is interesting information. No wonder NRN and Nandan - two socialist-inclined persons stayed back in India and teamed up....The lucky geezers were in the right place at the right time, from POV of their net worths. NRN seems to be the relatively smarter one and wisened up fast - but Nandan's 'Fabian Socialism' seems to have stayed put.

Requesting all having friends and relatives in West Bengal, please e-mail/call/chat with as many as
possible and request them to vote for NaMo. My own experience - Just bringing up two issues have
been extremely helpful: (i) Mamata's unabashed support for minorities overlooking the grievances of
hindus (/allowing unchecked illegal immigration); and (ii) We desperately need to create jobs and bring down the unemployment rate.

Please, please, please.........

In Karnataka, JD(S) struggles to keep its flock together http://dlvr.it/5NmmKf
Bangalore: The JD(S) in Karnataka is grappling with a problem of massive proportions. Just when the party was looking to staging a revival of sorts by putting up a decent performance in the general elections, it has been struck by defections. So far, two official candidates of the JD(S) have been poached by the Congress, while the BJP has managed to neutralise the JD(S) to its advantage in one parliamentary segment.

While poaching of leaders from opposition parties during elections is commonplace what is raising eyebrows is entire party units in either a particular assembly segment or in the entire parliamentary constituency switching loyalty, reducing party candidates to a laughing stock.

Already done so in social circle and in office. Except one idiot in office all are on board.
People are already aware of the issues you listed.
What's missing is a viable platform with an identifiable face. RSS has its task cut out in WB.

It's the unpolished (read ...not Westernized) folks from far off districts that had already made up their minds, so they didn't need convincing. It is the Kolkata's bhadralok class that are the problem.

If it is indeed madurai pandyanji is talking about,it is not surprising.madurai is an overgrown village with few opportunities for educated youngsters. But caste polarisation will minimise communist tendencies.

In BRF,people tend to deride South TN because they associate the pandyan land with theo saars world view.A modibhai type personality and his worldview and policies can be a god sent opportunity for an overgrown village like madurai.

Kati & SRoy ji: if you would like to call people in swing constituencies, plz let me know. There is a very dedicated volunteer coordinator here & many Bengalis are making lots of calls to their friends/relatives back home. The coordinator made an interesting comment on the cultural aspect - he said many Bongs do a lot of work on an individual basis to call, but very difficult to get them together as a group to do the same :D

Premji,

A thousand thanks. I'll let know if time permits.

My realistic view is that even in swing constituencies, things are extremely difficult. We should be happy to see vote share go up and BJP emerge as a real alternative, which I now see looks very much possible.

Last Update Before D-day :

Forget the rest of India . UP+ Bihar + AP is where the real battle is . Rest doesn't matter. UP is a toss for BJP : below 30 or above 55 , Bihar - anything below 25 not good, AP (- Telangana = TRS will go with ruler of dilli saffron or green doesn't matter ) : Naidu needs to drink massive energy drinks . He is finished if he fails . All rest on him.

These above 3 states will make a diff. of minimum 50 seats on either side. Maharashtra : congress's goose is cooked , Pawar cuts the deal ( Shakuni bhi kahata : Master aadmi hei Pawar ! ) . Anything above 0 in WB + NE+ Orissa is a bonus for BJP/NDA.
Haryana + Dilli will more than compensate for loss in Punjab & HP . Punjab is turning into a battle of Jat/jatt vs Jat/jatt. Congress's safe seat in Haryana is only Rohtak : jats consolidated behind INLD + anti- jats behind bjp-HJC leaving Congress way behind. There's no AAP in north anymore as of now .
Rajasthan + Gujrat + Uttrakhand + MP 'need' to deliver 'clean sweep' for BJP.

Watching the TimesNow debate. Sudanshu Trivedi is so unfit to be a BJP spokesperson. He isn't able to provide coherent views and answers to the questions asked of the BJP. Why do BJP persist with such people as spokesperson? Actually, Swapan Dasgupta was doing a better job putting across the BJP perspective and asking tough questions than the BJP spokesperson and the best part Swapan called Vinod Mehta a congress agent (which we know he his) on air.
