Congress strategy for 2014 confirmed: Anyone but Modi for PM

If Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, is to be believed ,expect the Congress to back pretty much any alliance that comes together against the BJP in order to ensure that Narendra Modi is denied the Prime Minister's seat.

In a interview with the Times of India today, Ahmed Patel, has said that the party isn't 'hankering for power' and can consider 'all options necessary to deny power to communal forces'.

When asked whether they would be willing to support another alliance from outside, Patel said,"...Congress will not shrink from making sacrifice for the sake of the country's good, and for defeating the challenge of communalism and its nexus with corporate communalism.

"The issue of who gets to be the PM is not as important as an understanding among secular parties over how best to counter the threat of communalism. What we might eventually do will depend on who gets what kind of numbers." The Congress's chief political strategist also said that he was confident the BJP wouldn't get the numbers to form a majority.

He denied that Priyanka Gandhi was being groomed for a bigger role in the party and said that if she decided to enter politics, it would be her own personal choice.

good one, but rajesh's thoughts contradicts with the premise that his private life decisions plays big in considering a marriage association in the first place. if you settle that relationship, then she can be nominated.

what is perplexing is there is no emphatic confirmation as to what that means by marking married while filing the papers.. it could also mean, married and separated. it is complex case!

In Amethi, Priyanka struggles with rising anti-Rahul sentiment

When Rahul’s candidature was announced from Amethi in 2004, the people of Amethi gave him a rousing welcome. He was the darling of the masses, someone who could do no wrong. But ten years later, the very people are circumspect about his intentions towards them.

People in Peeparpur village of Bhadar block were not there in as many numbers as the Congress would have liked them to be. This despite the fact that Priyanka herself is going to address the meeting. “We are not happy with Rahulji. We were promised electricity and we are still waiting” says Bhure Lal.
The 52-year-old even questioned the MNREGA scheme, a flagship program of the UPA Govt. “What MNREGA," he asks, "We don’t get any work. Names are put in the register for official paperwork, while money is siphoned off. And the powers that be think it helps the poor.”

But Priyanka remains on the backfoot on basic issues. “I know that there is electricity shortage in this area. Soniaji has spoken to Mulayam Singhji to solve the problem”, says Priyanka in her short speech at Ambarpur village in Sangrampur block. She goes on to attack the BJP.

“When we spoke to the state government about the electricity issue, BJP filed a PIL in the Allahabad High Court asking why Amethi and Rae Bareli are being given out of turn electricity compared to other districts. When they come to ask for votes, you must ask them why they did that.” One would wonder why people are still upset with Rahul Gandhi even after he has done so much for the area.

And what’s making Priyanka work so hard on a seat won by the Gandhi’s or their loyalist since the eighties except once in 1998. It’s not so much about “development” that Rahul wants to bring in, but about the basic needs of the people. A

local connect that existed between the family and the people seems to be diminishing. “Rahul has not worked on managing supporters and workers. He wants to deal directly with the people, but he doesn’t even remember their names. This has both the local leaders and well as the people fuming,” says a senior leader of Congress is Amethi on condition of anonymity. “If Rahul had done any follow up on his promises to the locals, Priyanka wouldn’t be getting sparse crowds in her meetings.”

Amethi has almost 2 lakh Brahmin, 3 lakh Muslim and almost 4 lakh Dalit votes. These are the three communities that decide the fate of every general election in this seat. A perfect combination for the Congress in the heart of Central UP’s rural belt. One thought that the party would easily be able to retain the Dalit, Muslim and Brahmin combination, but it appears a little tough this time around.

With the Brahmins divided between BJP’s Smriti Irani and Kumar Vishwas, the Congress is banking heavily on the Muslim and Dalit vote. “Congress has a fixed vote in Amethi, it’s the anti-Congress vote that is going to be divided here,” says Akhilesh Pratap Singh, MLA and National Spokesperson of Congress. “Our margin will be over three lakhs like the last time around,” he adds.

These are absurd, fanciful wishes. If someone, however noble, was foisted on you as a life partner when you were barely 18, would you consider to be married to the person for life? Whatever NaMo does, should be fine with us. He is unlikely to re-marry. If he has a partner (unlikely) that is his choice. Unlikely that J will leave her current environs. Status Quo will prevail. I'd think that the 'marriage' should be annulled? Did it even exist in the first place, registered, and so on?

What NaMo provided was an excellent out for Prink-chaddi vadra. Given this high octane campaign, what NaMo was saying that he will not target Pink-chaddi since she is not her opponent (unlike Sonia or Rahul or Kejri who are direct opponents). And further likened her to a daughter., this was an excellent handle which Pink-chaddi could have taken up and said something positive. Something that will be seen as uniting the divisive high octane campaign.

However pink-chaddi vadra blew her chance and what a royal screw up she did.

She could have said for example., that she never doubts the patriotism of NaMo, but does not agree (or completely disagrees) with his execution. Here, she could have risen herself to NaMos' stature and come out as a better statesman.

But nah., Pink-chaddi vadra got today a chance to grow up and create a positive atmosphere and blew it up! She tried to snub Modi and came out very small. She does not understand bharatiyata!

If I were in fray, I would say something similar to my young not-so-direct opponents. That they are like my kids., the clash is about ideas and culture to move the nation forward!

Imagine your opponent calls you as a family member and you snub him. How low can you go?

So again what NaMo did was excellent and pink-chaddi vadra showed up of what she is., a crass attention-craving loose moral retard (definitely a retard, since in political life, there are no permanent friends or enemies)

Thiruvananthapuram, April 30: A central directorate has said government advertisements are “approved” by the UPA chairperson’s office besides that of the Prime Minister, prompting the Opposition to cite this as evidence of its claim that Sonia Gandhi was involved in the government’s day-to-day running.

In reply to an RTI question, the Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity, which functions under the Union information and broadcasting ministry, said: “DAVP is the nodal agency of the Government of India and releases advertisements to the newspapers/periodicals on behalf of various ministries/departments. The designs of the advertisements are sent by the concerned client ministries/departments after due approval from the PMO and the office of the UPA chairperson.”
