seconded. this pass!ve aggressive stuff about modi, one day rah rah BJP, next day Modi sux, BJP sux, all sux based on whimsy/PR statements on TV is getting ridiculous.

first let the man win & even achieve 50% of what we require which is 1000 times better than what state of affairs now.

as versus giving everyone a saffron shirt, rolling up sleeves and engaging in mano a mano with every bangladeshi available, before he is anywhere near power.

with whimsical positions like these, forget putting up a consolidated front while the opponent laughs away.

It is because of modi, peace community is quiet is guj.

Ask any gujarati. they will tell you, how riot used to happen right at the time of rath yatra or any hindu festival. Everyone knew chimanbhai patel, madhav solanki,
amarsinh chauhary were involve in riots where peace community had free hand to go after hindus.

+1
here we are struggling with one dhoti and one banyaan, and argument is made that modi is a bad guy until and unless we all get gold zari covered suit, boot overnight.
lets focus on basics and that itself will make a huge deal. stoppage of easy cash for conversions, foreign subversion, good economic growth, strong military, H'ism unshackled from GOI strictures etc.

This election should be about getting democracy on track, which means getting the dynasty to shut shop otherwise we risk ending up as a banana republic in the long run. India can still remain secular without help from the dynasty.

And what good has Modi done for hindus so far, can you name some of them?
Now you are talking like Congi/AAP. I can list, but don't want to go further with this insanity.
Let Modi first get elected with some good safe number of seats. There is still work left over for 2 pending phases of the elections and hence let him first steer the party to a nearby-majority if not clear-majority situation. Then we can start analysing what he will sly'ly do - what he wont do - what he will do and etc.

I believe - Modi is not as weakened (i.e. compromised) in front of INC & their Foreign stake holders ilk as Vajpayee (the other "bachelor" with an adopted daughter & an almost 'Vadra lite' type son-in-law ) was. INC guys & foreign hit job guys have very little mud on Modi to bring him down (but for 2002 riots) as against compared with Vajpayee. Who knows - i often wondered whether Foreign hit job guys had many details, evidences that would make Vajpayee or his Son-In-Law appear in most embarassing position in front of the nation. The chances of the same type of blackmailing against Modi are miniscule.

Modi goes to all prominent temples in an unabashed manner where ever he campaigns and he very clearly said "Wearing of a skull cap to just please Muslims is a fake act and just an act of appeasement ... real need is to do the required work for the Muslims to progress". Even as he said this - he wore the Sikh Pagdi - the Dastar ! ... because he didn't see the act of wearing the pagdi as appeasement !. So on top of all of these - to claim that he will go on, do namaz at Lahore and become ABV2 - is a bit unthinkable !.

Being Pro-Hindutva doesn't mean .... allowing Hindu temples encroaching roads to stay on and encouraging to build more of them. Did not Modi also go ahead and demolish similar Mosques & graveyards that were encroaching public space ?. There are proper places to build the temple and mosque.

I personally believe he wont either be ABV2 or allow Sudheendra Kulkarni like traitors write "Jinnah was most secular person...." type speeches for him (a la Loh Purush's statement in Pakistan in past). Let us see.

We want Modi to get re-elected in LS 2019 elections too - so it would be stupid to over extend his power at the start itself or worse even before the start (by baring out 'controversial' ideas in the manifesto & allowing a bonfire to be created out of it by rapacious presstitutes). Let him start of on a strong foot on development agenda first ... establish credibility (in face of some potential hurdles from Mother Nature itself... what appears to be an impending weak monsoon for the country) and then start other 'works'.

Nagesh ji, and SwamyG ji,

Ignore my rants, here is the crux of the problem I have. Ok, let us for a moment assume that the lotus color has a genuine issue with voters. So lets ignore that or say that I was going overboard.

My real issue is with only 2 things

1. Of all the problems India faces, I believe the biggest issue is bangladeshi infiltration. Why has BJP not mentioned their deportation in their manifesto, if i recall correctly, i believe Nagesh ji asked this to sadanand gowda and he did not get an direct answer.

2. Next, why did BJP remove the commitment they made in their 2009 manifesto of freeing hindu temples from govt control. It is the right thing to do and the only weapon hindus have to counter EJ's. You cannot expect the community to depend on the govt of the day. free our temples and we will take care of ourselves.

Rest all of my rantings are just an offshoot of my grouse over these 2 issues.

With regards to [1] ... Modi has gone ahead and asked BD (muslim) illegals to be ready to get deported back , during his campaign speeches in both Assam & WB. Yes - its not in the manifesto - but he cleanly spelled it out ...almost like a threatening call issued from the dias.

We have a delicate relationship with BD currently - we need them to help nab the leftover dregs of ULFA (and also not turnover & re-start the growing of ULFA like snakes), to trap the ISI guys, IM guys who are working to India's detriment by basing themselves out of BD land and to get them handed over to India. So we cant be too aggressive ... right now ... but the general trend of how illegal BDs will be handled has been spelled out unequivocally by NaMo in his campaign speech. If he fails in doing that - then we need to query him on the same and ask him to honestly provide the answer.

With regards to [2] - Does not control & operation of Hindu Temples come under the purview of state government rules ?. There is no Ministry of Hindu XYZ ... in a federal setup right ?. So in KA - last BJP govt ... i guess ... IIRC ... allowed certain temples to be taken back from government control and given for running by certain Maths But no religious/caste discrimination should happen in such 'reverted' temples since otherwise the whole idea would flop. So NaMo in this case would have to tread cautiously and initially nudge pliable State Governments via temptation inducement through some additional finance support or similar maal - to allow loosening of Hindu temple funds & assets towards doing the same as what EJ's are doing using foreign money.

FWIW, he has already destroyed the myth that an unashamed Hindu could win broad support across India, breaking down caste, urban, rural and economic lines.

And, I think I am not alone in this: I don't feel I have to reflexively 'apologize' for not apologizing in the face of the daily war on Hinduism.

That's even before he is PM

When he becomes PM, I will feel more secure that a Hindu life counts just as much as a non-Hindu one in the public discourse.

The Pandits' situation will not be quietly buried, the train victims in Godhra will not be disposed off under the 'alleged' rubric, the Akshardham dead will not be systematically erased from our consciousness and the idiot Shivraj/RR Patils who flick off 26/11and the train bombings as part of the daily grind in a big city will be disrobed and consigned to an appropriate dustbin.

That's for starters. I've been around a while and I think it is time for the worm to turn.

Muraliravi:
Now that you articulate your concerns the way you have presented them now, it makes them a set of valid and objective questions to me.

While I cannot answer for Modi and BJP, my 2 cents on the issues are:

1) Deportation never works. Sorry to bring in America, where I live, but even America has not managed to deport Mexican illegals. Sure, they have policies, departments and projects like ICE. It is practical to deport a handful every now and then to just serve as a feeble deterrent. As long as there is support on both sides of the border, such actions will not bear real fruit.

The more India progress/advances and provides better opportunities to its citizens, the greater number of BDs will infiltrate into India seeking better life. So what can India do then?

a) Pull Bangladesh into a different union of sorts - say 'United States of India" (or Bhartiya Rastra) with Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal etc. With common currency, some amount of economic and political unity. India will have to get in bargain access to those markets and resources. Bangladesh will then provide an easy and inexpensive access to Burma and beyond in S.E. Asia.

The logical question would then be "What about so many BD Muslims?" Islamic reform is a dicey subject off and on the forum. However it leads to your concern #2, that we will come into a moment.

However, since deportation is not a valid option why put that in the manifesto? Why list something in the manifesto, that can never be achieved or done? One could argue BD could have found a place, but Modi has been relatively quiet about Pakistan as well. His goal is to push the Congress out, and the family into oblivion. Anything else is mere distraction.

2) On the subject of temples being controlled by Government. I agree with you, it is a massive injustice to Hindus. In fact the Indian Constitution itself could be considered a disservice to the Indian traditions. I would have liked the Constitution to be based on Dharma, well that is another dicey subject on and off the forum.

On that account, I only wish/hope Modi & BJP does remove the temples out of the government control without much fanfare and even if it is not mentioned in the manifesto. Like you say, Hindus know to take care of themselves.

So the first concern (related to BD) requires a good team of experts to come up with a set of solutions - each of which will have its pros and cons, while your second concern can be dealt easily and silently.

"Under the Obama administration, more undocumented immigrants have been deported then under any other president. One-point-five million people were deported as of last year, with the ACLU putting that figure as approaching 2 million deportations. "

34,000 people are deported each day.

Give BDs a card to work in India and no citizenship, period. Work towards building up Bangla economy as a feeder into Indian one so they dont cross over. Reform Indian system so it is effective against peaceful types who conflate religion with power and subvert the system. Rest will fall in place.

Your concerns are valid. But in order to make these changes and then sustain them there needs to be lot of empowerment, re-education and strengthening of rule of law. Lot of ground work is needed even for visibly simple measure of freeing temple management from Govt control.

If Modi can give India 10yrs of good governance, Bharat will be re equipped to fight another 1500 yrs of civilizational clash.

If Bharatiyas can become self-aware, self-empowered and self-organized then Bharat can undo the current double colonization within 10yrs.

Swamyg,

Deportation works if done right and govt has will, if ultra modern fencing is done, no way bs's can enter.

Rest is all excuses. Us has done mass deportations before 1950, now also they can do, just that both democrats and republicans have sold themselves to corporations who use cheap mexican labor

India already has enuf people, we dont need bd's for our labor needs. Deportation maybe tough but possible, fencing is too easy including riverine areas to give any excuses

Cosmo_R: It is a never ending cycle, there are more than 12 million "undocumented workers". I do not want to get too much into American issues in this thread. But America has a serious illegal immigrants problem and it is not going to be solved any time soon. So ignoring America....

Like in non-isolated systems, thermal equilibrium is reached only after the thermal energy has been transferred in a way to reach equilibrium, migrants moving from a poor country to a richer country is dramatic process. Even within India, the economic progress not being equal, you have migrants from Bihar and UP spread across even far South.

Is it wise for India to spend money in deporting people, as people enter illegal through several other doors? It will become a costly exercise. A long term solution is to create BD as an autonomous region/state/country of India. That is why I call experts to come up with some workable solution. Barbed wires and compound walls will not keep them out.

India can bring BD into its orbit, USA cannot do that to Mexico.

One challenge to BJP was that their PM candidate was very popular, but many people did not know what party he belonged to, and what symbol belonged to that party!

White Lotus with an outline has been pushed simply because that is how the symbol looks on EVMs. The saffron lotus may gladden the hearts of BJP bhakts but the white lotus would really help in converting more votes.

So that is 64 years now from 1950, and they are still doing it. What this only means is that when rubber meets the road illegal immigrants is a never ending problem for a larger, progressive and better off country. What you say is true about political parties being sold off, however, even small businesses benefit.

If the conditions are dire in BD, people will die to get into India. When one is ready to die walls, electric fences can do only so much. It will become very expensive, it is the 4th longest border in the World. Romba kashtam saar. I don't mean to see walls and fences will not work, I am saying a better long term solution should be thought out - the biggest hurdle is religion.

Paging Hindi & Telugu speakers. We are focusing our calling efforts on the following areas:

a) Andhra: its a tough fight and needs all the help it can get. Getting all sorts of mixed reports about TDP/BJP advantage vs YSRCP surge

b) Amethi: BJP is sensing a possible opportunity here, though they are still the underdogs. Smriti Irani is doing a wonderful job of energizing the voters & cadre. Bigwigs are having rallies there. 3 of Frederic Ji's friends are already calling. More will help

c) Bihar calling: needless to say, this is crucial given the recent RJD-Congress surge

d) West Bengal: even English speakers are welcome

English speakers are more than welcome. I cant speak a word of Telugu and had no problems talking to Vishakapattnam today. There are plenty of areas where everyone can contribute

If you would like to volunteer, please reply here or in the Modi Call-a-thon thread. This is the slog overs. Lets score the maximum

BD elements can't keep driving out Hindus and expect understanding of economic compulsions on India's part.

I think what is lost in the discussion is that the real long term solution is free travel and protections in both directions. If Hindus in India see opportunities in BD for business, allow free access and full rights.

What can't work is "what's mine is mine and yours is there for the taking and BTW, we'll turn you into BD"

^^^ sorry we are not talking about barbed wires, i am talking abt 25ft double layered concrete fencing like israel has, many countries have done that succesfully. US is not at all a good example. You cannot bring into ur ambit a country that has as many muslims as india has, it will be a disaster of colossal proportions. Later today i can put up a list of most effective fences in the world. Migration within india is a diff story. The long and short of what u are suggesting is make bd as india's 30th state, how do u propose to do that without doubling india's muslim pop, all these are futile measures, first fence and then deport, 2014-19 fence and fence well, later deport

Deportations would work well, if one knows how to get underneath the psyche. Some ideas have been exchanged.

One way is to paradrop Bangladeshis into Bangladesh, say a group of hardline Islamists, who have been creating trouble in India. Say 50 are given parachutes in one drop. If one parachute develops a malfunction, and there is the accompanied hue and cry, it would send a very clear message to Bangladeshis - either start going back on your own or there can be consequences.

Migration is an issues .. requires much thought. Let us not get into solutions. Modi has raised the issue in Bengal .. It seems to be on his radar .. Let us give him 5 years and watch what he comes up with.

Since SSC mentioned this about Modi ,Some Info on Chakravyuh penetrated by Abhimanyu. Techinque was to destroy all the side, junior warriors instead of attacking the major Malhas and waste energy or get stalemated.

MuraliRavi-ji,
Israel also has a ton of illegal Arabs of all sorts (Druze escapees from Syria, mixed Palestinian folk from Jordan, heck, even a ton of Egyptians manage to sneak in and work illegally in Israel, even when it is such a hyper nationalistic country). Economics trumps nationalism, most of the time. Even if we put a 25 foot concrete fence, people will find a way to sneak into India if they really want to get in, and if there is a reason for them to get in. And second, there are a whole horde of employers who want to employ them, paying less wages. While those who came in the 60s and 70s were squatters on the chars, the bulk of the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh are employed in various places in India (mostly by Hindus).

While I fully support all efforts at deporting them, I am not sure how many can be kicked out, by any means you choose. We will need to go in for a mixed set of inducements and punishments to tackle the problem, as far as it can be tackled. Just figuring out how many of them are there, and where they are, is the first step (no one knows the magnitude of the problem, it is a lot of guesswork that we have). So, I am willing to wait and see what NaMo will do.

As for Hindu temples, I am in full agreement with you that they should be freed. But most, if not all, of them are in state government control. Freeing them may not be as simple as passing a Bill in Parliament. There are a million types of partnerships with the temples, each of them with its own specifications, trusts, boards and contracts. Untangling that Nehruvian mess may be a full time job. Still, it is less contentious, so NaMo should be able to tackle the problem to some extent, at least. Let us see what he will do.

Finally and realistically, NaMo is the least hopeless choice Hindus have. His record in Gujarat is decent. So, with no better choice (Rahul Mehta's party is contesting only against Advani, I think), what else can the Hindus do in this particular election? He has promised a lot, and what is more, he does listen to his supporters on twitter. So let us give him a chance and see what he can do.

I can't help but notice the contempt you have for BJP, which seems to be wrapped in a cloak to concern. Why this schadenfreude? It's ok to be a congress supporter. At least we can understand why your comment is the way it is. But please spare us the rancour.

Why are we judging him for what he has not done yet at the national level?

Besides - ABV is better than MMS or RG or Vpsingh or IK Gujral or Indira Gandhi or Morarji or god forbid the worst of them all JLN.

So AbV2 is automatically better than 90% Indian prime ministers.

I had to call you on this post because the thread is becoming an echo chamber of Langoti shiver.

While fencing can slow illegal immigration to a trickle on the borders with BD, there's innumerable other routes to illegal immigration. Boats, planes, get into Nepal or Bhutan and then into India, get in on legit visas and then overstay to infinity. What are we going to do, fence off the entire country? That still won't stop planes.

Deportation is one solution, but can't be 100%. A feasibility study would show the limitations of deportation, and maybe (giving the benefit of doubt) Modi, who is known to do his homework and not shoot off his mouth at random, did indeed do a feasibility study on fencing and deportation, the results of which weren't very encouraging.

let's not turn this into an immigration and border management thread either.
I am tempted to lock this thread till the next phase of polls.

should I ?
