Other than J&K being the source of water to Al-Registan a.k.a Bakistan, Is there any other reason for TSP to be stuck with Kashmir-raga. They know they can't get it and all thus humbug about Muslims and Islam is just that. Humbug to sell this opium to masses.

Kashmir is now Bakistan's hand-in-the-cookie Jar and they don't know how to let go of cookie and pull the hand out without getting their Lamp Posts. It is catch 22 for them.
We must also discuss the ways in which we can help Bakistan to get its hand out of the Jar without getting shot or hanged by Terrorist Army otherwise there is no way for this issue to get resolved till Al-Bakistan exists.
Even if Bakistan breaks into multiple parts, Pakjab still might be crying hoarse over Kashmir.
As on today, GoI doesn't seem to have any strategy (at least not visible) other than throw some more money to KM's and maintain the status quo and hope Pakis descend into their state of Al-Iraq.

Kashmiri Pandits can form something like Village Defence Committees lik those formed by people living in terrorist infested areas of Jammu. Provide a few willing members of the community with guns and training to use them. Knowing the mentality of ghazis there, it should bring down the chances of any mischief thousandfold.

‘No relevance’, Centre asks UN mission to vacate Delhi office
The Narendra Modi government has asked the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to vacate the government bungalow housing its office in the heart of the Capital, in a sign of its toughening stand towards the UN mission.

The Indian Express has learnt that South Block has asked the UNMOGIP to vacate the bungalow — 1AB, Purana Qila Road — which has been serving as its office for the last four decades. The government accommodation — a Type VII bungalow, about 7,000 square feet — was allotted to the UN mission “free of charge”. :x

Sources said in its recent communication to the UN, the government has conveyed that the UNMOGIP’s role has been overtaken by the Simla Agreement and the consequent establishment of the Line of Control. New Delhi is of the view that the UNMOGIP has “no relevance or role to play whatsoever”. 8)

The UNMOGIP, established under a UN Security Council Resolution, was meant to supervise the ceasefire line established under the Karachi Agreement of July 1949.

The government’s decision is being seen as a move to convey Delhi’s desire to not engage with the UN mission in Delhi. “They should stay in Srinagar and do what they want. In case they want to be stationed in Delhi, they should hire premises in a private property and not occupy the government accommodation,” said a senior official requesting anonymity.

According to a source familiar with the arrangement between South Block and UNMOGIP, the bunglow “was allotted to the UNMOGIP as part of a gentleman’s agreement between Indian officials and the UN mission over 40 years ago. It was meant to be a short-term arrangement, and the UNMOGIP officials were supposed to move to a private hired accommodation. But that never happened.” :x

Even as South Block officials are yet to get the property vacated, the Ministry of External Affairs’ finance department has told them that it will not be able to provide budgetary support for such “goodwill gestures”. 8)

Despite all the claims by Pakis, Amercans and Chinese, most evidence points to that fact that AQ Khan had little impact on Pakistani Bombs, they were mostly CKD imports with the knowledge of CIA and funded by Saudis, our capability to bomb every shipment and go to war on it would have very limited.

Rather, we should be prepared for Pakis to use Nukes, most of the elite relatives will be moved to Saudi, US Uk in case they are planning to use Nukes. We need to Build a good Nuclear(Soviet Union numbers) and conventional deterrent to make its Friends to defang the snake.

Very good point Jamwal Ji. I think empowering people with weapons is the first step towards crushing the fear that terrorists spawn among general population.
A Israel type defence group with training to handle fire power and use it with deadly force will deter Jehadis from constant picking of targets.

Cultural emergency: Omar Abdullah government bans lecture of eminent author Mridu Rai
http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-cu ... ai-2000995
Shock, anger and disbelief gripped Kashmir after the authorities "banned" the annual Pandit Rughonath Vaishnavi annual talk by the renowned author Mridu Rai in a hotel in Srinagar on Wednesday.

Professor Mridu Rai, an eminent academician and author of, 'Hindu rulers, Muslim Subjects: Islam, Rights, and the History of Kashmir' was scheduled to deliver a lecture on 'Languages of Violence, Languages of Justice: the State and Insurgent Kashmir' in a local hotel on Wednesday afternoon here.

However, the government allegedly threatened action against the hotel if they allowed the event to proceed. Later the organisers addressed a press conference which was followed by the lecture at the office of J&K Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS), which had organised the lecture along with other civil society members and groups.

Khurram Parvez, coordinator of JKCCS, said despite the government's attempts to stifle her voice, Mridu Rai addressed a limited audience. While delivering the hour-long talk, Prof Rai said, "I will never be silent".

Parvez said they had booked the hotel 15 days ago and all arrangements had been finalised for the talk. "But last (Tuesday) night police had gone to the hotel and asked them not to allow the programme. They had specifically told them to ask for permission (from government). They had even threatened to seal the hotel if the lecture is permitted," said Khurram.

Organisers claim that under the law, there is no requirement for permission for holding such an event at a private venue. "This ban is consistent with the government's policy of disallowing academic, cultural and political activity in Jammu and Kashmir. The state has consistently sought to choke all political spaces of dissent," said Parvez.

We are talking as if we are under some colonial rule. The 'terrorist infested areas' directly mean that no so-called experts bothered when pakis launched armed 'irregulars' i.e. jihadis in 1947 or even through decades. But talk about security of Kashmiri Pandits and experts are out giving value judgments about each and every topic. Abdullahs were in role of CMs for decades now and still not able to crush hatred against Kashmiri Pandits. We are also forgetting hateful propaganda from across the border by barbarians who spread misinformation campaigns through TV and radio channels.

Islamic State chief Baghdadi’s sermon available in Hindi
A militant group, which announced its formation last year and vowed to fight in India, has translated the sermon of Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, named as caliph by militants, into Hindi and Urdu and released it online.

Al Isabah, the media wing of militant group ‘Ansar-ut-Tawheed Fi Bilad Al-Hind’, released the Hindi and Urdu translations of the Arabic sermon, delivered by Baghdadi on Friday in the Iraqi city of Mosul.

The extremist group has repeatedly hinted at its Indian roots and claimed India was in its cross-hair.

The Hindi and Urdu translations of the sermon were released on Al Isabah’s Twitter account, where the group has formerly shared links to its video and audio statements.

The group has also translated the statement of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) spokesman Abu Mohammad al-Adnani, in which he had announced the establishment of caliphate in the areas where his group has gained control in Iraq and Syria.

The Tribune was the first to report the formation of the new militant group, calling itself ‘Ansar-ut-Tawheed Fi Bilad Al-Hind’ (the supporters of faith in the land of India) — when the group’s leader, who uses pseudonym Abdur Rehman al Hindi, announced its existence in the video statement last year.

The group’s origin remains a mystery till now and has been limited so far to distribution of online propaganda material, which is directed against India and produced on a pattern similar to the al Qaida and released on sites where the member outfits of the global jihadist movement share their messages and propaganda.

Ansar-ut-Tawheed has released several videos since announcing its formation in November last year. In one video, it shows armed men firing assault rifles and machine guns and identifies them as Abu Mohammad and Abu Baseer of Uttar Pradesh and Abu Mus’ab and Abu Saeed of Karnataka.

Tension in Jammu after wrestling row
Tension gripped the Bari Brahmana area on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday evening after clashes broke out between a mob and the police following a controversy between two communities over holding a wrestling contest on “disputed” land.

The mob torched a Gypsy of security forces and an Ambassador car in protest against the alleged denial of permission for holding the contest. It resorted to heavy stone-throwing on security personnel and vandalism, damaging around a dozen of vehicles and shops. Police personnel assisted by paramilitary jawans lobbed teargas shells and cane-charged the mob to disperse it. At least a dozen protesters were injured in the clashes.

The troubled began after the administration reportedly denied permission to one community for holding a wresting competition on “disputed” land which, according to the community members, used to be organised in Bassi village, near Bari Brahmana, for several decades.

Sources said senior administrative and police officers visited the “disputed” land on Saturday and decided not to grant permission. The contest was scheduled to be held on Sunday evening.

Infuriated over the decision, the protesters marched towards the Jammu-Pathankot highway and blocked it at Bari Brahmana around 5 pm. Raising slogans against the administration, the protesters, including members of the organising committee, claimed that the objection was a “deliberate move” to disrupt peace.

Traffic movement remained suspended with protesters continuing the stir. Around 7:45 pm, the protesters allegedly turned violent and damaged around a dozen vehicles. They set two vehicles on fire, besides vandalising two shops. The administration rushed additional security personnel to the spot to control the situation.

The protesters threw stones on security personnel who fired teargas shells in retaliation and cane charged them.

Samba Deputy Commissioner RK Verma said they imposed Section 144 of the CrPC, banning the assembly of four or more persons, in the area as a preventive measure. “The situation is normal, but we have deployed security personnel to keep a tight vigil on troublemakers,” he said.

DEBATE, EXPOSE AND DISCREDIT
DEBATE, EXPOSE AND DISCREDIT

The apologists of Article 370 argue that the provision has nothing to do with laws pertaining to permanent residents of the State. There cannot be a more fallacious argument than this. Yet, it has been allowed to prosper in the guise of protecting secularism

Much brouhaha was created following the remarks on Article 370 by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh, soon after the Narendra Modi Government assumed office at the Centre. Though the Minister later clarified his remarks, sharp reactions continued to pour in from the apologists of the divisive provision, which deprives the citizens of Jammu & Kashmir of some of the fundamental rights enjoyed by their counterparts in the rest of the country.

Abrogation of the controversial constitutional provision has been one of the core issues of the BJP since its inception as also during its earlier avatar as Bharatiya Jan Sangh. In the run-up to the election, Mr Modi had called for a debate on the issue. In fact, BJS founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee died as a detainee on June 23, 1953, under mysterious circumstances after he was arrested while crossing the Kashmir border, opposing the Congress Government’s decision to grant special status to the State with its own flag, Prime Minister and Constitution.

“Ek desh mein do Vidhan, do Pradhan aur Do Nishan nahi chalega” (A single country can’t have two Constitutions, two Prime Ministers, and two national emblems).was his slogan.

The Abdullahs of Kashmir who have of late threatened to secede from India if the Article is revoked, are deliberately misleading the people of India on the special provision.

To begin with, the Abdullahs know very well that Article 1 of the Constitution of India declares India to be a Union of States as specified in the First Schedule, which contains the lists of States and Union Territories and includes the State of Jammu & Kashmir as part of India. The same position finds reflection in Section 3 of the Constitution of Jammu & Kashmir which declares the State of Jammu & Kashmir to be an integral part of the Union of India. Any effort to create doubts with regard to the integration of J&K with India is contrary to the aforesaid provisions. Hence, it would be a totally invalid argument to say that Jammu & Kashmir is part of India only because of Article 370.

Coming to history, the State acceded to India on October 26, 1947, with the execution/signing of Instruments of Accession by the then ruler of the Jammu & Kashmir and its acceptance by Governor General Lord Mountbatten, even as Pakistani tribal raiders were invading the State.

The advocates of Article 370 among the Indian intelligentsia appear to be unaware that the Instruments of Accession which was signed by the ruler of that State was identical to the Instruments of Accession signed by the other rulers of the States which had acceded to the Union of India.

While in the case of other States, the Constitution of India ipso facto applies to the State, Article 370 was deliberately introduced to protect the provisions of the Instruments of Accession in a different manner so far as it pertains to the State. This differential treatment to the Instruments of Accession by incorporating the temporary provision of Article 370 has led to multifarious problems including a sense of alienation among the people of the State, particularly in the Muslim majority Kashmir valley.

The apologists of Article 370 argue that the provision has nothing to do with laws pertaining to permanent residents of the State. There cannot be a more fallacious argument than this.

The Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 1954, was issued saying that in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 370 of the Constitution, the President, with the concurrence of the Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir, is pleased to order … (j) After article 35, the following new article shall be added, namely:- “35A. Saving of laws with respect to permanent residents and their rights. — Notwithstanding anything contained in this Constitution, no existing law in force in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, and no law hereafter enacted by the Legislature of the State, — (a) defining the classes of persons who are, or shall be, permanent residents of the State of Jammu & Kashmir; or (b) conferring on such permanent residents any special rights and privileges or imposing upon other persons any restrictions as respects — (i) employment under the State Government; (ii) acquisition of immovable property in the State; (iii) settlement in the State; or (iv) right to scholarships and such other forms of aid as the State Government may provide, shall be void on the ground that it is inconsistent with or takes away or abridges any rights conferred on the other citizens of India by any provision of this Part.”

It was under this Article that Jammu & Kashmir was allowed to formulate discriminatory laws for the residents of the State as against the fundamental rights guaranteed to the citizens of India.

Another outrageous argument dished out is that Jammu & Kashmir’s laws are not violating the fundamental rights of Indian Citizens since the State has a separate Constitution. However, the fact remains it is not so due to a separate Constitution but the fact that the State had been allowed by the Union Government to violate some fundamental rights of Citizens of India and provisions as contained in provisions like Article 16.

The Jammu & Kashmir Constituent Assembly incorporated in the State Constitution discriminatory sections like Section 51 (candidature for J&K Legislature), Section 127 (employment in Jammu & Kashmir Government institutions) and Section 140 (voter eligibility for Assembly election) under the cover of Article 35A of the Constitution of India.

Thus, the power of Parliament to enact law/Acts under Articles including 16 and 19 was handed out on a platter to the Jammu & Kashmir Constituent Assembly/ Jammu & Kashmir Legislature under Article 35A. Property rights of Indian citizens who do not hold Permanent Resident Certificates of Jammu & Kashmir has been done away in a very concealed manner by referring to existing laws coming from the Maharaja Government.

It is indeed surprising that the advocates of Kashmiri identity do not realise that the highly significant Article 35A has not been kept in the body of the main Constitution but in its Schedule, by way of design or otherwise, and as such has been less commented upon despite the fact that it is a tool of oppression which has been created under Article 370. In fact, Article 370 has provided scope for injustice to the residents of Jammu & Kashmir and has proved to be a stumbling block in the way of the progress of the State at par with other States of the Union. There are equally important issues related to women’s rights etc at stake.

Though Article 370 was conceived as a temporary provision, its supporters argue that in the absence of a Constituent Assembly, the recommendation to the President for its abrogation as required under Clause 3 cannot be made.

Such critics need to be told that Article 368 (amendment of Constitution of India) does not provide any ultimate immunity to Article 370 and, therefore, it can be modified/amended/abrogated as per constitutional provisions. Moreover, under Article 368, the procedure for amendment can also be modified.

More importantly, members of the Constituent Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir did not disperse; only the function they were performing ended and the members stayed and functioned thereafter to work as the Legislative Assembly and to handle the legislative affairs of the State as per the State Constitution.

Article 370, therefore, is not about Kashmiriyat or identity. While abrogation may not be immediately possible, it is important that the country debates this issue extensively and does not dismiss it merely as a Hindutva agenda.

sad news of disruption in the Amarnath pilgrimage ;Several hurt in clashes in Baltal;
Several people were injured and property damaged after a scuffle between two stall owners led to violent clashes today at Baltal, a base camp for pilgrims to the Amarnath cave shrine, in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

The police said the clashes took place after a “minor squabble” at the Baltal camp. A police spokesman said some tents and a few eateries caught fire during the incident. Baltal, situated near Sonamarg resort, is one of the two base camps for pilgrims to the Amarnath cave shrine.

“Some civilians and policemen got injured in the incident; they have been discharged after being provided first aid from a hospital,” the police spokesman said.

The clashes erupted after one of the stall owners was injured in the scuffle, which led to stone-throwing in the area. Sources said the incident turned violent after a rumour spread in the area that the injured man had succumbed to his injuries. The police have registered a case.

Senior police and civil administration officials rushed to the site to monitor the situation while the security forces had to fire tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.

Sources said a few dozen tents and eateries were damaged in the fire, which spread with the bursting of gas cylinders.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had a telephonic conversation with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss the situation at Baltal.

“Shri Omar Abdullah apprised Shri Rajnath Singh of the situation and informed that the state government had sent officials to the spot for the necessary action,” the Press Information Bureau said in a statement.

Singh asked the Chief Minister to take “all necessary steps to control the situation” at Baltal, the statement said.

Governor appeals for harmony

Srinagar, July 18
On being informed about the clashes at Baltal, Governor NN Vohra, who is also the chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, today told the Chief Executive Officer of the board to immediately proceed to the camp and see that harmony was restored with the help of the district administration.

The Governor also discussed the matter with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, under whose direction Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shailendra Kumar and Inspector General of Police Abdul Gani Mir also rushed to Baltal. Vohra also spoke to president of the Shri Amarnath Barfani Langars Organisation, the apex langar organisation, Vijay Thakur and urged him to ensure harmony, essential for the satisfactory progress of the yatra. — TNS

news of violence at Baltal, Amarnath pilgrimage
Violent mob torches 10 ‘langars’, several tents-42 injured in group clashes at Baltal

excerpts
Forty two people including 12 policemen were injured in group clashes that broke out today near Baltal, the base camp of Amarnath Yatra, after a dispute between pony owners and those running community kitchens (langar wallas) resulting into suspension of yatra to holy cave for the day.
The situation is tense in entire Baltal and Dumel area following the clashes between the two groups.

the violence broke after an altercation between the pony wallas and the workers of a community kitchen late last night at Dumel. The reports said that the pony wallas had misbehaved with a yatri which was objected by the workers of a community kitchen and it led to a clash between the two in which one pony walla namely Naib Sadar Khan was injured.
He was however given a first aid at local medical aid centre and later shifted to Soura Medical institute for treatment where his condition is stated to be stable.
As the news of attack on pony walla spread, the other pony wallas along with pitho wallas and Dhandi wallas assembled from nearby by places and pelted stones on langar wallas and yatris. They also set the community kitchen on fire. Besides the tents of langar wallas were also set ablaze resulting into the injury to 25 people, reports said. Total 10 langars were set ablaze by violent mob. Even some huts of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) were also damaged by stone pelting, reports added.
Some people also received injuries after the cylinder blasts in the ‘langars’ which were set ablaze by the mob.
Though the langar wallas and yatris also tried to resist the attack and they also attacked the tents of the pony wallas and pitho wallas, but later sensing trouble they took refuge in CRPF barracks and the mob attacked them too. To quell the violence, the CRPF cordoned off the area and fired teargas shells in the air.
To control the fire authorities had pressed 18 fire tenders into service which after a lot struggle for hours together managed to control the fire.
no clarity why the local administration waited for matters to flare up
However the local administration and police did not interfere till the situation went out of control. Instead of taking a prompt action the local police looked as a mute spectator and they also clashed with CRPF, eyewitnesses said.
The yatris have blamed the administration for not taking timely action and allowed the situation to take critical turn. Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and SSP Ganderbal also reached the spot late in the afternoon.
Reports said over 4000 yatris were stranded at Baltal since this morning as yatra was suspended. Sumit Sharma a yatri from Jammu said that they could not take any thing since the morning as all langars have been torched and there is nothing available to eat at Baltal.
He said there is lot of panic and no one from administration came to take the stock of situation and talk to yatris as panic gripped entire Baltal base camp.
Ram Kumar a yatri from Bihar said it was a field day for hooligans who ransacked the langars and torched them and also thrashed yatris as the police and local administration looked like a mute spectator.
However, Yatra officer at Baltal, Dushyant Sharma told the Excelsior tonight that from 11 p.m. onwards, police have started clearing all stranded pilgrims. All yatris will be cleared from Baltal to Jammu in the night, he added and said situation, at present, was normal.
While the police spokesman maintained that only 12 people were injured, sources said that as many as 42 people were injured which included a few with burn injuries.
However an official spokesman said the situation has been brought under control and senior police and civil administration officials are on the spot to resolve the issue.
While officially police said that they had registered a case, sources said that as many as three CRPF personnel were detained by the local police.
Reacting to the developments, CRPF claimed that 10 community kitchen were set on fire by protesters resulting in injury to its 12 jawans.
Meanwhile, police said that yatra has been suspended in view of the violence and a convoy en-route to the cave shrine was stopped as a precautionary measure.
Tension also gripped Picturesque Sonamarg Kulan and Kangan townships on Baltal route and the shopkeepers downed their shutters for some time. The police was deployed in the markets to avert any untoward incident, reports said.
Reports said the yatris were also not allowed to move ahead of Manigam camp in view of the violent incidents at Baltal today.
The yatra has been stopped at Nowgam-Jawahar tunnel area in Banihal belt as a precaution in view of the clashes between two groups of people at Baltal, police said.
The pilgrims were not allowed to move into Kashmir via Jawahar tunnel from Banihal belt of Ramban district.
Amid tight security, the 22nd batch of 1,765 pilgrims, including 1244 men, 409 women and 20 children, left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in a cavalcade of 62 vehicles this morning
With today’s batch, 41,023 pilgrims have far left from the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath shrine.
However a police spokesman said that some minor squabble between people in Baltal Base Camp took place today and the situation was brought under control without any injury to any one. He said some tents and few langars have caught fire. Police and fire service departments are on job to control fire, he added.
IGP Kashmir Abdul Gani Mir said that it was a minor incident and the yatra continued as usual. All the yatris and locals are safe and the situation is under control, he added.
He said presence of gas cylinders in some tents took some time in controlling the fire.
However the CEO, SASB Rakesh Kumar Gupta told Excelsior that 1500 pilgrims are at Base Camp and they have been provided proper shelter. He said a high level meeting will take place late to night which will be attended by top civil and police officers to defuse the situation. The meeting after reviewing the situation will also take a decision on forward movement of yatra tomorrow.
Meanwhile Minister of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma along with senior officers of civil and police administration visited Baltal and took stock of the situation there.
The Minister also interacted with the officials of SASB langar wallas and poni wallas to have the feedback about the incident. He urged the service providers to maintain peace and order to ensure smooth yatra.
He also urged the administration to probe the matter and take stern action against the guilty. The Minister was accompanied by Principal Secretary to Governor and CEO SASB, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and senior police officers.
However 11,075 pilgrims paid obeisance at holy cave and with this total number of pilgrims performing darshan at cave shrine since 45 day yatra started on June 28 reached 2,76,573.

^^ I don't know what provokes Muslims into these skirmishes. It is either boring nature of their religion or jealousy of Sanatan dharma ? Really coward of the locals to attack pilgrims. Hope sanity prevails.

Mortars, bullets rain in entire Arnia, parts of RS Pura sector -Centre rushes 2000 additional BSF jawans on IB
Several houses damaged, cattle perish, panic grips people

After a day’s lull, Pakistani rangers rattled entire Arnia sector and parts of RS Pura sector with heavy mortar shelling and firing in early hours of this morning, killing and injuring several cattle and causing extensive damage to houses and cattle sheds in forward areas sending a fresh wave of panic among the border villagers, who had started feeling a sigh of relief yesterday due to no firing.
As firing intensified along the International Border, the Union Home Ministry dispatched 2000 additional Border Security Force (BSF) personnel to the border to strengthen the force and ensure that the militants didn’t manage to take advantage of firing and infiltrate into this side. Apart from additional manpower, the MHA has also moved surveillance equipments, vehicles and other infrastructure support along the border to strengthen Intelligence network, coordination with sister agencies and conduct special operations along the IB.
Official sources and eyewitnesses told the Excelsior that Pakistani Rangers opened up their guns covering one and a half dozen BSF posts and over dozen villages along Arnia sector and parts of RS Pura at 1.10 am. The Pakistani forward posts resorted to simultaneous firing at Pittal Pindi, Kaku-De-Kothe,Changia, Chanana, Sei Camp, Nikowal, Jabowal and Bakarpur in Arnia sector, Gharana, Gharani and Suchetgarh in RS Pura sector.
The Pakistani posts also used mortars during the firing, some of which fell inside houses and cattle shed of the people while others pierced through walls and roofs of the houses and entered rooms of the sleeping people.
Almost all villages in Arnia sector and parts of RS Pura sector including houses of the people were filled with exploded and unexploded 81mm and 51mm mortar shells. Army detonated all unexploded shells safely.
Though there was no human loss of life, three cattle were killed and over half a dozen were seriously injured after being hit by shells and bullets from across the International Border. The people, as usual, had tied the cattle outside their houses or in the cattle sheds, which were damaged.
When the Excelsior team visited the border villages in Arnia and RS Pura sector this morning, they didn’t find any house in the village, whose houses hadn’t been hit by the bullets and shells, leading to small, medium and large craters on the walls and roofs. Some of the houses had been rendered unsafe after being hit by the mortars and bullets.
Sat Pal and Girdhari Lal, two villagers in forward area of Jabowal told the Excelsior that their houses were rattled with the sound of mortar firing in dead of the night and they ducked under their beds to survive along with their family members.
“It was a very narrow escape for our families. Not only our families but over 100 other families in the villages had miraculous escape in early morning firing and shelling,” they said, adding that several houses had been damaged due to firing and shelling while few cattle were killed and others injured.
The BSF didn’t suffer any casualties or damage in the firing though their over one and a half dozen posts came under intense firing from the Rangers in entire Arnia sector and parts of RS Pura sector.
“The BSF retaliated effectively,” sources said, adding the guns of the Rangers fell silent around 5.45 am this morning after the BSF have more than matching response. BSF Director General DK Pathak, who had visited Arnia sector only a day before had asked the border guards to give effective response to firing by the Rangers.
However, casualties or damage suffered by the Pakistan side in the heavy retaliation by the BSF was not known. Pak media claimed that one civilian was killed and seven others were injured on their side in the BSF firing.
Bodh Raj lost his two cattle while another was injured at village Gharana while Jagdish Raj son of Isher Dass lost roof of his house at village Gharani. Cattle of Balwinder Kumar son of Amarnath, Satpal son of Hans Raj and Girdhari Lal apart from others also suffered fatal and non-fatal casualties in the firing. Romesh Bhagat also lost his cattle at village Rakh Jeora in Nikowal area.
Four mortar shells had exploded in just one house of Yashpal Singh son of Kartar Singh at village Kaku-De-Kothe but fortunately Yashpal was living in other house and was using this one only for cattle.
The Veterinary Departments teams comprising among others Dr Indu Bushan, Dr Anil Dhingra and Dr Ashwani Bassan along with staff provided treatment to the injured cattle in the villages they could cover during the day today.
Six unexploded shells were detected by the villagers at village Sai Tangali early this morning. The shells had landed in fields of the people.
Police parties headed by SHO Arnia Inspector Kulbir Choudhary rushed to the spot, cordoned off the area and informed Army and BSF. Bomb Disposal Squads of the Army reached the village this morning and safely detonated the shells in isolated area after keeping the civilian population away from the site.
The Bomb Disposal Squads moved from village to village detonating several live mortar shells.
The people could be seen collecting numerous empties of shells and bullets from their houses and fields in the morning.
In most part of the day today, the people stayed indoors in all forward villages of Arnia and parts of RS Pura sector except for the time when senior officers from BSF, civil and police administration visited the border to assess the situation. The people wanted the civil administration including DC Jammu A K Sahu to announce relief for the people, whose cattle had been killed or injured and houses damages in shelling and firing by the Pakistani Rangers.
The administration assured the people of quick action in the matter. The police officers once again advised the people living in the border areas to refrain from venturing out in the fields in view of continued firing from the Rangers.
Official sources described firing and shelling by the Rangers as “unprovoked and indiscriminate”. There was no reason for the firing except to prevent the villagers from cultivating paddy crop in the forward areas, which would lead to removal of grown up `sarkanda’ (wild grass) and give BSF clear view of the borders.
sources said the Rangers want grown up grass not to be cut in view of their bad intentions to infiltrate militants into the Indian territory.
On Wednesday, a BSF jawan was killed and seven others including three BSF personnel and four civilians were injured in heavy firing by the BSF in Arnia sector.
Sources said no flag meeting or hotline contact has been proposed between the BSF and Rangers so far.
Meanwhile, to check infiltration bids along the International Border amidst continued ceasefire violations and firing by the Rangers, nearly 2,000 additional BSF personnel and special surveillance equipment have been deployed along the border for effective domination of the areas.
The additional man-power, surveillance equipment, vehicles and other infrastructure support have been moved into the border along Pakistan to strengthen intelligence network, coordination with sister agencies and conduct special operations along the border.
Sources said vulnerability mapping of the Border Out Posts (BOPs), which are sensitive with regard to infiltration, have been carried out and the additional resources have been deployed there.
“Continuous efforts are being made to deploy the latest surveillance equipment, fully fitted with day and night vision devices, for further enhancing the border domination”, sources said.

This is why we need to understand that there are barbarians across the border, who at the most will be silenced to fire back on another day. We should keep pressure on the trigger happy barbarians till they desist completely. We should relentlessly and forcefully pursue efforts to get back head of Indian soldier that was cut off stolen by the barbarians, without looking at cost to pakis.

The unreported truth of the Amarnath Yatra attacks
by Mayanak Jain

The attacks on the pilgrims of the Amarnath Yatra have been shockingly blacked out in the 'mainstream' media.

Even as there is a gradually growing national outrage over the attacks on the pilgrims of the Amarnath Yatra at Baltal, there is fresh shocking news of the local J&K police being hand-in-glove with the miscreants who attacked Hindu pilgrims.

It has come to light that the devotees going on this year’s Amarnath Yatra have suffered not only at the hands of local miscreants, but even the local Kashmir police. Apparently, even Kashmiri police personnel had little qualms in joining the rioters who had a free hand in heaping indignity on the hapless pilgrims. Yatris Pradeep Kumar, Manik Jaitley, Krishna, Prem Salwan, Happy Salwan and Deepak are among the lucky few who somehow managed to escape the miscreants
and have met union cabinet minister Anil Joshi to narrate their harrowing experiences and a true account of what actually happened.

The pilgrims' eye-witness accounts provide ample evidence that the attacking miscreants had the full backing of local police in J&K. On the day of the attack, the police had already asked the army to shift to upper ranges on the pretext that they would take care of the Yatra’s security, and then immediately provoked the local goons to attack the Yatra camps and langars, as early as 8 am in the morning. The pilgrims were caught completely unawares as stones began raining on the Yatra. The pilgrims have alleged that sacks of stones had been kept in readiness on ponies, which has been transported to the place well in advance, as the pony- operators are from the local communities. Even more shocking is the fact that even local shopkeepers joined the attackers in showering stones on pilgrims, who were trapped from all sides.

The stoning continued for more than two hours, with the J&K police even joining the miscreants in looting pilgrims’ belongings and mobile phones and smashing many pilgrims’ cameras. Male pilgrims braved the onslaught to protect the women and children by shielding them with pillows. The terrified women and children were screaming even as the attacking mob went on a rampage. The attackers were driven from the scene only after the army arrived at the scene after about two hours. As always, it was the Indian army which turned out to be the pilgrims’ savor.

Baltal attack : The pilgrims further revealed that the J&K police and miscreants were vying with each other hurling obscene expletives at women pilgrims. Every bhandara (cooking camp) traditionally houses a small temple whose idols and Shivlings were desecrated by hurling shoes at them. Apart from looting of the Yatris, women’s clothes too were not spared and snatched and strewn all over the place.

According to reports, the miscreants even urinated into the utensils used for cooking food at the langar and also into the havan kund (sacrificial altar used to lit sacred fire for performing a yagna). All this happened with the local Kashmir police either looking on as amused spectators, or worse, joining their brethren in this vile attack on the Yatra’s devotees and outraging their religious sensitivities.

Worse was to come. The J&K police, not satisfied with looting, also aided their local brethren in setting the yatris' tents afire. Pilgrims attempt to protect themselves and women and children were mercilessly lathi-charged by the police, apart from having to somehow fend off the attacking miscreants. In fact, the J&K police were openly exhorting the attackers, “Loot whatever you can, even their (pilgrims’) offerings”. The gas cylinders in the tents now on fire soon exploded, forcing the Yatris to run for their lives. The brutality of the police and miscreants did not end there. After looting the Yatris belongings and loading their ponies with as much stuff the animals could carry, they poured water on the remaining food, rendering the flour and dal meant for cooking totally useless. The miscreants then showed their real nature by urinating in the havan kund and trampling on the images of gods and goddesses. Were the attackers done yet? Not by a long shot. They dispersed raising slogans of “Kashmir hamara hai” (Kashmir is ours) and “Pakistan Zindabad”.

Slowly Modi is just turning out to be nothing more than MMS. The PM never speaks. Just before elections he said, talks and terror cannot go together. But now even as pakis are firing on our soldiers, saree diplomacy is in full swing. Has not even uttered a single word on the amarnath yatra attacks.

total bakwaas, BJP is only fit for giving bhashan, nothing more.

Modi's total focus on economy and foreign affairs at the cost of core concerns of Hindus (daily being killed by Muslims in riots, Bangladeshi infiltration, Pakistani muscle flexing, rampant conversions by church) is beginning to irritate me now. What will Hindus do with economic growth if their houses get burnt down by Muslim mobs and their women abducted or half the states become Christian majority?

Modi is also giving a free run to the English media which seems to have lost all fear now, after lying low for a few days. Is it too hard to order income tax investigation into assets of top 20 editors and media owners like Jains and Bhartiyas? Files will already be there with IB.

If Modi doesn't address issues of his core constituency -- the tilak wearing Hindu -- he will lose next elections despite high economic growth (NDA-I redux). He should understand this fact clearly. India is not Gujarat. Infrastructure development can go side by side, but not at the cost of addressing Hindu need for safety and security in their own home land. Modi needs to learn from Congress -- they are anti-Hindu goons but see how determinedly they stick to promoting the interests of their core constituency of Muslims.

Totally agree with SanjayC and Murali ji.
Why this unhealthy obsession with Economics at the cost of our own destruction and when the time comes to take off, world will go into depression leaving us neither prosperous nor strong..
Hindus of the past were the richest people in the world but look where we are...Could not even defend the motherland with all the money and Gold.
How long are we going to sing 'Give Modi more time' while Islamic rioters run amok in Kashmir and Saharanpur. Where is the Iron Fist that was touted in last 1-2 years.
This was not the dawn we waited for with baited breath.

The answer lies in politics. Central governmnet does not have absolute power. BJP will need to win the State election. The central government has the right to dismiss a state governmnet, if it cant run the business and call for new elections.
In Kashmir BJP may try to enforce presidents rule, but they need an excuse to sack Abdulla. Abdulla knows this and will play the pro Jehadi role. Some simmilar approach is going to take place in UP. but there BJP will want to hold fresh elections.

Despite having absolute majority in Look Sabha, it does not have a majority in Rajya Sabha (members elected during state elections). Hence it can abolish article 370, etc. But if it can win UP, Delhi and a few other states, it may.

the ancient Kousar Nag yatra is refused permission by the J&K Govt. Blatant religious discrimination by the J&K Govt

Kousar Nag yatra, which was to be 'revived' from Aharbal route in South Kashmir, ran into controversies and failed to take off today. While the devotees accused the government of succumbing to the pressure from the separatists, the hardline Huriyat faction called for a shutdown against the attempts to make Kousar Nag ‘another yatra destination’.

Vinod Pandit, chairman of the All Parties Migrant Co-ordination Committee (APMCC), which was to undertake the yatra from Aharbal, said the government had earlier promised them security and support but backtracked later.

“Unfortunately, the government succumbed to the pressure of the separatists and other communal elements,” Pandit said.

Stating that the yatra was an annual affair before the militancy broke out in the state, he said misconceptions were created over the matter.

“Even though the yatra was restarted two years back from Gool Gulabgarh, Reasi (in the Jammu region), we only wanted to resume it from Aharbal, the traditional route for Kashmir Pandits, after 25 years. One can find the mention of the cave and the yatra in our holy books, history books and also in Rajatarangini. It is sad that misconceptions were created and the government did not even bother to check the facts,” he said.

Rajatarangini (Chronicle of Kings) is an account of Kashmir's ancient history written by the 12th century historian, Kalhana.

There was opposition among several quarters to the yatra from Aharbal on the grounds that it would damage the ecology of the area.

Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani has called for protests tomorrow and a shutdown on Saturday while alleging that the yatra would be ‘disastrous for the environment and water resources’.

He alleged that through the yatra the “communal forces” in New Delhi wanted to “destroy peace in Kashmir”. Such forces also were out to “destroy environment, identity and culture” of the area. Geelani said the Hurriyat was not against Hinduism but termed the yatra ‘a political decision and not a religious one’ with the sole aim to “harm the just freedom struggle of Kashmir”.

However, Pandit questioned how 40-odd devotees could have damaged ecology? APMCC senior coordinator Amit Raina termed opposition to the yatra a ‘ploy’ to keep Kashmir Pandits out of the Valley.

APMCC national spokesperson King Bharti said a “communal colour” was being given to the issue to create "fear psychosis" among the Pandits. He accused the government, separatists and mainstream politicians of joining hands to prevent Kashmiri Pandits from performing their religious activities.

Meanwhile, the government foiled the attempt of Kousar Nag Bachao Front (KBF), which was formed earlier to oppose the yatra, to march towards Aharbal.

Reports said the KBF march was stopped near Gurewattan village, a few miles from Aharbal.

Several parts of Kulgam and Shopian districts observed a shutdown amid sporadic clashes as the KBF has been demanding that the yatra to KousarNag be called off keeping in view the fragile ecosystem of the area.

Separatists ruling the roost in J&K: BJP

The BJP on Thursday slammed the Omar Abdullah-led government for its alleged inability to control radical groups of the Kashmir Valley from sabotaging the annual Kousar Nag Yatra. “The attitude of the state government is an indication that separatist and fundamentalist groups are ruling the roost in J&K,” said Lok Sabha member and state president of the BJP Jugal Kishore Sharma. The matter would be brought to the notice of the Union Government, he added.
