ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has installed the country’s tallest flag at the Flag Monument Park along Islamabad Highway near Zero Point. The 40-foot high and 60-foot wide flag was hoisted on a 215-foot and 30-ton heavy pole on the country’s 68th Independence Day on Thursday. CDA Member Environment Mustafain Kazmi said it took the authority 40 to 50 days to prepare the flag.
364 Din Dependent & Ik Din In-De-Bhen-Dence?
Only Islamic Land of Pakistan can reach such lofty Go-Al.
Wait. Don't go away. Here's the latest on the universe's tallest flag. Ignored!.
Tallest flag ignored due to long march
The joint anti-government marches by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) ... seem to have overshadowed the hoisting of the biggest flag of Pakistan in Islamabad.
The flag, considered to be the highest one in South Asia, is fluttering at the green belt between Sector H-8 and Islamabad Highway and is visible from almost all parts of the capital city.
What's up with the azadi marches? Both of them have disappointed so far. yeh bahut na insafi hain. Government will probably stay. Whole tamasha is looking like an army exercise to force civvies to accept some of their demands like letting Mush go. What kind of a commando army chief is Raheel Shariff who uses proxies like Imran Khan and some Canadian mullah to put pressure on civilian government? He should learn from his seniors like Zia-ul-Haq or Musharraff who showed in style who's the boss in Pakistan.
Sri Lanka's court of appeal has ordered a halt to the deportation of Afghan, Iranian and Pakistani refugees before their asylum claims are fully assessed, an official said Saturday.
The court order came after a Pakistani woman challenged Sri Lanka's decision to expel foreign nationals despite warnings that doing so may violate international law.
A court official said judge A.W.A. Salam, head of the Court of Appeal, had on Friday ordered the defence ministry to suspend the deportations.
"The case will be called again on August 29," said Lakshan Dias, a Sri Lankan lawyer representing the Pakistani petitioner. "For the moment we have stopped the refoulement (forced return)."
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan could not honour the repeated promises made to his workers that he would eat and live with them all through Azadi March, but much to the disappointment of workers PTI chief after his last night address went away to his Banigala house leaving the workers and supporters to face the torrential rain under open sky, Geo News reported.
The helpless workers were simple shocked who had never thought that their leader would desert them at the very outset of the Azadi March leaving them to face the ordeals all alone despite his repeated promises that he would eat the same which they would eat, he would also be sleeping on the roads with them and would never leave them alone under any circumstances.
But perhaps the heavy rain and the fatigues of a long travel proved too much for Imran Khan, who after his emotion charged address on Shahrah-e-Kashmir jiffy got into his car and left for his residence at Banigala to sleep and rest for the night, while the workers passed sleepless night in utter frustration and with the feeling of being defrauded.
IOW I'm the Dim, as Prime Miister of Pakistan, cannot be expeced to keep his "Promises" to the people of Bakisan!
Cheers

KARACHI: Foreign exchange reserves of the State Bank of Pakistan have been declining due to external debt servicing and no fresh inflow during the last two months.
The State Bank reported on Friday that reserves held by the bank declined by $89 million to $9.188 billion during the week ended on Aug 8 as against $ 9.277bn in the previous week. Total reserves of the country stood at $14.264bn. Net foreign reserves held by banks stood at $5.076bn.
The SBP reserves are expected to fall further as the bank paid about $147m to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) this week.
If no inflow is received by the Central Bank this week, reserves may fall below $9bn that may add volatility to the currency market which is already feeling the heat of political uncertainty.
He said there is another repayment to donors next week for which the State Bank has been buying dollars from banks.
Pakistan is negotiating another instalment of loan with the IMF in Dubai which may be granted next month.
Rs86bn injected into banks
Meanwhile, the central bank on Friday injected Rs86bn into the banking system to meet the shortage of liquidity.

You know you are in deep $hit when you have to count your reserves in three decimal places.

LOLOLOL
Interesting picture - the dilemmas of universalism versus religion.
The military are not confused. They know they are supposed to salute. But Sharif can't do a namaste - that is too Hindu. He can't hold his hands with palm up - that is reserved for Allah. He does not want to do a military salute (which he could). So he puts his hand on his wallet and tries to copy his American paymasters. Note that the Djinnahs in the background simply have their hands by the side - which is a good enough option.

But 9.188 billion is equal to 91.88 Hindu billions - so Pakistan is managing to stand up to India and thumb its nose.
Issuing its orders on the application here today, the court directed Station House Officer (SHO) Faisal Town to immediately register cases against the 21 nominees which include the prime minister, CM Punjab, Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan, former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah, Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, the Inspector-General of Police Punjab and the CCPO Lahore, among others.
1.4 Reserve Position in the IMF US$ 1.7023 Billion
Re Pakistani Forex Reseres : The Total Figure is misleading as the NET RESERVES WITH COMMERCIAL BANKS of US$ 5.0299 Billion in the SBP Figures for 01-08-2014 Is the Forex amount held by Private Individuals. Of the US$ 9.2770 Billion hed by the SBP about US$ 4 Billions is owed to the IMF, US$ 1.5 Billion is from the Saudis and US$ 2.0 Bllion is "parked" by "Friendly Brotherly" Muslim Countries.

ISLAMABAD: The registered flight of capital from the country during the last five years (2009-14) is $478.56 billion with the approval of State Bank of Pakistan and Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet.
Remember, there are two jokers in every deck. Here's the second one, affectionately called TuQ TuQ. He now has a Charter of Demands (basically a list of inane demands that amount to a hill of beans:
During his speech, a suspected person with pistol on him was held by PAT workers from the participating crowd. He was presented before Qadri, who took his weapon and hugged him before letting him go. Qadri said: "I am forgiving you."
Bhai Wah! This is better than a Meena Kumari tear jerker.

Peregrine ji, I doubt this figure of USD 478 B. They don't have that much money to go out of Pakistan. What, their total reserves is about 9B USD? A couple of years back, it came to as low as USD 2B or so. How could the State Bank of Pakistan allow those hundreds of billions of USD to flow out of the Land of Honey & Milk? I mean, from where will they get the hard cash? Unless of course they FUCD (I mean, printed Fake US Currency Denominations) just like printing FICN. I am sorry if that acronym does not fit in a family forum like BRf, but, as you know, we always have this danger of double entendre with STFUP.

Pakis dont say US$. Must be the one which Zimbabwe printed by Trillions of Trillions.
Imran Khan is now demanding resignation of badmaash again after saying he is willing to drop that demand.
Jamaat-e-Haraami chief till now was not in favor of these protests for the "sake of democracy" but has now issued a statement saying he supports it and that he agrees with the demands of Imran Khan.
Meanwhile Imran Khan is already talking about how he will run his government and referring to himself as prime minister.
PAT chief and Kanadian mullah Tahir-Ul-Qadri has released a set of demands which includes world peace.
Not to be left far behind, MQM chief Altaf Raja has issued a statement from London appreciating the government's restraint and asking PTI and PAT to negotiate with the government without any deadlines.
In the midst of all this, there is a rally in support of Gaza in Isloo in which all parties are participating. lol. What a country.
Looks like army is upping the ante and the government may fall? Maulanas, what's your reading of the situation?
