Yes. Winning war on poverty and conquering Kashmir should be No 1 priority. Frivolous pursuits like going to mars and eradicating polio can come later.
War on poverty can be won in Bakistan with more green on less green violence and Arrah given floods. The poor people get killed or get washed away. Poverty solved.

Since green on green violence does not kill as many people these days, there should be infusion of more lethal and more violent weapons that can inflict large causalities.

Pakistan to take up concerns over relief efforts in Kashmir with India

ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday expressed its concerns over lack of relief efforts in Indian Kashmir and decided to lodge a formal protest with India through the Foreign Office.
The Committee members were of the view that India, which calls itself world’s biggest secular democracy, should stop its discriminatory attitude in providing relief to the flood affected people of Indian Kashmir.

According to an official press release, Chief Secretary AJK told the committee that the losses in AJK are mainly due to landslides caused as a result of rains and flash floods.
He further said that floods have nothing to do with the water coming from India and the increase in water flow was purely because of extensive rainfall.
Expressing concerns over the preventive and precautionary measures to minimise losses in AJK, the senators proposed that iron gabions should be built to avoid landslides which caused loss of infrastructure and precious lives.
The chief secretary, however, stated that the mountain terrain in AJK has wet soil and the situation after extensive monsoon rains gets uncontrollable. These mountains have become weak after the 2005 earth quakes and landslides have become a regular happening.
He informed the committee that other than Mirpur, there is no flat land in AJK and there is no possible way of changing the life patterns of people living on mountains.
Briefing the senators, DG SDMA said that 3,000 people have been evacuated from Bagh, Poonch, Kotli and Mirpur. The senators were shocked by the devastation caused by floods and asked the administration to come up with the detailed report in the next meeting.
Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Birjees Tahir proposed to the committee that Chairman NDMA, DG Metrological Department and Foreign Secretary should also be called in the next meeting of the committee.

Towel Alert!

Mars Orbiter Mission success draws praise from Pakistan
When will we wake up? Really, we need to look at our neighbour and gauge where and how we have fallen behind
“Proud of you India, you beat China in the Mars race, I feel ashamed of our political class.”
We should feel proud as India has broken the superiority of the West in space
“I am sure all the dharna parties, fatwa-hurling mullahs, master-minds of suicide bombings, current ruling parties, and negative news-seeking media will have no time to think and understand the reasons why India is making such a spectacular progress in almost all areas of science, technology and commerce.”

Pakis have a right to do that because they have solved all the problems in PoK as it says in the article
the mountain terrain in AJK has wet soil and the situation after extensive monsoon rains gets uncontrollable. These mountains have become weak after the 2005 earth quakes and landslides have become a regular happening.

He informed the committee that other than Mirpur, there is no flat land in AJK and there is no possible way of changing the life patterns of people living on mountains.
And in any case this meeting was to curse India. The problems of PoK will be discussed in the next meeting by which time Allah will have caused the floods to subside.
The senators were shocked by the devastation caused by floods and asked the administration to come up with the detailed report in the next meeting.

The Islamic Republic of Pakistan foils Hindu / Jewish / Christist plot to get pure and pious Mohammaddens to indulge in Un-Mohammadden activities like polio vaccination. For its pious efforts, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan gets the country’s Mohammadden piety recognized even by Non-Mohammaddens who bestow the epithet, via Director-General of the World Health Organisation, “the single most important stumbling block along the road to ending polio, once and for all”:

Pakistan dubbed ‘single most important stumbling block’ along the road to ending polio

Take it, you kafir - Op Ed, DT
When my article on India-Pakistan relations, ‘Where indifference can make a difference’ (Daily Times, September 18, 2014) was published on these pages last Thursday, little did I know that within hours the issue would come to the fore. And that it did with the statement by Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP’s) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in which he reiterated Pakistan’s claim on Kashmir. This is the first high-level claim to Kashmir by anyone in Pakistan since Kargil and thus attracted a strong reaction from the other side of the border. Many people are trying to decipher the reasons for this statement by the leader of a political party that has ruled Pakistan more than any other political party. Some say it was mere rhetoric aimed at soothing the military establishment. Others think he was trying to connect with the Punjab audience that, according to cliché, is the only audience concerned with the Kashmir issue. Both of these may be true but I see another dimension to this statement by the PPP chairman. The statement is a sign of a more confident Pakistan, emerging after a decade or so of hardships. It is the sign of a Pakistan that, after a decade of feeling overshadowed by India’s story in the global media and its own perils at home, has found its voice and is seeing its strengths.

At the same time, the country’s archrival, India, was the perceived success story in the global media. After a slumber of many decades, in the 1990s, India started opening up to the global economy and this coupled with a zero interest rate regime globally led to a massive influx of foreign investment into the Indian economy. This contrasting image of India and Pakistan disturbed Pakistanis a great deal. This chain of events did weaken Pakistan’s hand vis-à-vis India. Many thought that this weakness might be perpetual and echoing voices of outright submission followed soon afterwards. Even many of Pakistan’s friends in the US administration started asking Pakistan to withdraw from some of its strategic positions in relation to India.

While Pakistan was being battle hardened, the India story was coming to a halt after the 2008 financial crisis. Internal fissures that were overshadowed by that success story have started emerging. India is facing an internal Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) threat and the perception that it could emerge as a power to counter China has all but faded. While Pakistan is a country with many risks that are mostly known, India sits on equally dangerous risks and yet most of them are unknown.

In this realigned balance, for the first time since Kargil, rather than talking of resolving Kashmir, a Pakistani mainstream political leader has reverted back to the claim on Kashmir. Where people see chaos in the PTI’s sit-ins and Bilawal’s Kashmir talk, I see the emergence of a new, more self-confident Pakistan that seems to have a clearer idea of its direction and that seems to have regained its confidence as a nation state. This Pakistan will not go the war route but will fiercely fight for its self-interest. In the natural cycle of evolution is emerging a more productive, more responsible and more independent Pakistan, more mindful of its strengths and weaknesses.

He is so thrilled with joy at this prospect that he had an involuntary ejaculation in a public space. I think there's a bit of DDM in that article. The article talks about pakis and shows a picture of some girls holding congratulatory signs. However, I'm pretty convinced that the girls in the picture are all Indian. For one, the caption of the girls in that pic states that it is taken in Faridabad. But Faridabad is in India, not Pakistan. Note also that the girls are holding up signs written in shuddh devanagiri script and some of the words used are Hindi, not Urdu. Plus, those Indian flags they are holding look really high quality too, not the shoddy cheap stuff that Bakis burn up in protests.

(Reuters) - A Pakistani policeman on Thursday shot and wounded a 70-year-old British man with a history of mental illness in the jail where he is on death row for blasphemy, his lawyers said.

Muhammad Asghar, from Edinburgh, was arrested in 2010 and sentenced to death in January after a disgruntled tenant presented letters he had written saying he was a prophet.

Blasphemy is punishable by death in Muslim-majority Pakistan.

A constable shot Asghar in jail in Rawalpindi, next to Islamabad, his lawyers said without elaborating.

Pakistan policeman kills Christian accused of blasphemy
(Reuters) – A Pakistani policeman shot two men in jail on Thursday, killing one accused of blasphemy and wounding another condemned to death on the same charge, lawyers and an activist said.

Christian pastor Zafar Bhatti was killed
and 70-year-old Briton Muhammad Asghar, who has a history of mental illness, was wounded in the attack in Rawalpindi, next to the capital, Islamabad.

Bhatti, who worked to protect the human rights of the country's beleaguered Christian minority, was on trial after an Islamic leader accused him in 2012 of sending text messages derogatory to the Prophet Mohammed's mother.

His family say police investigations show the phone was registered to someone else.

In recent weeks, Bhatti had received death threats in prison from both inmates and guards, his family told Pakistan-based human rights group Life for All. He was being held in the same cell as Asghar.

"This is a barbaric act. There had been threats. The court should have instructed police to ensure Bhatti's safety," said Xavier Williams of Life for All.

"Killing of a person who was falsely accused is mockery of the judicial system. The protectors of the innocent have become the predators."

Sven Smalgand has presented his analisis of the anal-ysis in the comments section, with all typos intended.

Added later: weirdly it's moved to the bottom of the comments section. In case it gets deleted, here is the text:

Difficult to pin down this article. I can see that Pakistan wants to be confident about its future. I believe that is a good asspiration for any country. At the Biglund-Smalgand Foundation in Scandinavia, we look at such questions in depth. One thing we have found through intensive research and recrimination is that confidence at the expense of others (such as in taking other's property or territory) is always bound to backfire loudly. In fact, we call it the "Biglund-Smalgand Effect". Perhaps Mr. Malik should consider a review of that study, which I'm sure will tighten the orificial position and lead to taller and fairer articles.

There was a muj who wrote that since Indian Muslims have a lot of domestic grievances they stay back to protest as opposed to Pakistani Muslims who, lacking all domestic grievances go to places like Syria to fight. This analysis is from the same family.

Reminds me of this fellow from school who once told us that since he was rotten to the core didn't sturdy, did booze and drugs, the only way to go for him was up. Since we did well in school, there was a real danger that we'd stop doing well and fail.

Last I checked he was in jail.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Thursday it has neither sought any meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session nor has a request been received from the other side.
Aslam clarified that India cancelled the talks between foreign secretaries of the two neighboring countries on the pretext of the Pakistani high commissioner’s meeting with Hurriyat leaders.
“Both countries are in contact to reschedule the visit at the earliest. However, no dates have yet been fixed,” Aslam said, regarding the postponement in the Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan.
