I absolutely hate how we treat our fallen soldiers. Umbrellas held on our seated dignitaries, while the wife/mother/father of a fallen soldier stands in rain to recieve the medal of highest gallantry awards. I feel even Obama started to get up and then decided to stay seated (probably not to put our leaders to shame). Modiji sat with one leg on orther! SHAME!

^^I agree with you IR. This is indeed a shame when the dignitaries cannot bring themselves to offer some modicum of respect to the heroes of this country. Protocol be damned.

On a different note, Obama's countenance was the one to watch when Brahmos rolled by!!

Chewing is separate motion. He is moving his head to the rhythmic beats of the bands.

Obama has been chastised for chewing gum at multiple places before. Personally, I don't find it offensive. Actually, travelling half way around the world and still working from day 1 at full gusto and looking fresh is very difficult. If it takes a gum, let him have it.

imo not only the president but all the other vvips next in line should stand as mark of respect, or if it cannot be done move the award to a separate ceremony on army day or in the rashtrapati bhavan or beating retreat.

it looked VERY UNSEEMLY today. Pranabda did what he could to salvage the ugly situation, its not his fault at all.
