Here's my attempt at what and why you ask
You are looking at Viraat and asking why only one harrier ?
Well the rest could be on an attack at the moment or secured down in the hangar. Hangars are better as they protect the aircraft better from salt & sea spray.
I only see 3 Mig29s with Vik even though more exist with the Navy.
NO, You are asking because you are over 200 men in smashing whites lining the starboard side.
Okay perhaps they should have put all their sea harriers on the top deck but maybe few have recovered to land and others might be getting servicing down below in the hangar.
Remember men salute and stand to and not the assets.
Last not least remember that our harriers numbers are dwindling and there is no plan to replenish the numbers.
Navy has wisely chosen to seek its future with the MiGs and Tejas. YOu will never see Sea Harriers in massed numbers unless there is a war on.

No discussions here please. This is pictures only. Reminds me of photoyogi. Where is he these days? He has a picture of Tejas on his home page which I do not mind paying for.

Could be for multiple reasons..nits wrote:^^ its a Naval Exercise and Aircraft deck just have 1 aircraft?
1) There were 4 Sea Harriers on deck in another picture, three sea harriers flew in formation, hence they might have landed in INS Hansa.
2) this might be a before pic when they were still in the hangar and getting ready for the fly past.
3) there aren't many Harriers left... Hence the depleted numbers..
You realize that the bulk of the action was in the INS Vikramaditya and not on INS Viraat.

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military
In this gallery (which is mindblowing by the way), we see a shot of the Mig29 on static display (non-UPG) and we see a R77 next to it (cropped). From the angle its not clear if the R77 is displayed next to Mig 29 or some other aircraft next to it which is not in the frame. If its next to the Mig 29, its the first photo acknowledging R77 on non-UPG 29s?
Can someone confirm this?

If you see other pics in the same stream, the other fighter aircraft to Mig-29's right is Mig-21 Bison. And from the way missile is placed, it looks like a component from Mig-21 Bison display. Some CHOR has cropped the Original Image which i had already posted here with the URL back in Jan 2012.
This is one of the reasons why most photographers hate to put good work up online & especially without a big distracting watermark right on the subject
I was about to share, My Latest Photo [Hi-Res] of LCH 1 & 3's side-by-side comparison: http://www.airliners.net/photo/2608519/L/
And i avoided putting a watermark to spoil the look of the image but, i guess its the only way forward .

Hopefully for the 6 new missile corvettes the P-28 can be used as the template. Will make logistics a lot easier.

Not DBO but landed in leh airstrip. C 17 has thrust reversers and is certified to land in short airstrips - as short as 3,500 ft .
