As per the official records (which I am sure the courts would have verified), Yakub Memon has been arrested when he was at New Delhi Railway Station. It is said that he came back from Pakistan via Nepal and reached New Delhi. There are unofficial reports that he was actually detained by Indian agencies in Nepal itself, where as the arrest was "shown" to be made at New Delhi. Now why did he land up at Nepal? We really don't know. But Government of India has not given any formal statement, or any promise to Yakub Memon. So unless he can prove that Government of India made some promises and is now back-tracking on it, he does not escape the hands of the law. This fellow had got nearly 10+ years to prove the point that GoI is backtracking on its promises. He has not done that at all. If Yakub Memon was lured into Nepal by some trick, then it was his fault to fall into the trap. This excuse of promises made by GoI, are just pathetic attempts to escape justice.
If he was not given assurance, then question of guilt comes in. It has been proven guilty by court. All the logic that we hear now about him being non guilty, is only part of the story, the full story his competent lawyer would have told. The judges then decided that he was guilty.
Exactly. This case has gone through multiple trials and appeals. We should seriously have our heads examined, if we feel all during these stages the case were heard by an inefficient judiciary, or conducted by incompetent lawyers. All through this time, Memon's lawyers have not been able to punch holes in the prosecution's charge sheet. There are statements given by approvers who clearly have proven the role of Yakub Memon. The media also relies on the sob stories of Memon's wife, and consideres her statements to be the absolute truth.
What should be avoided is guilty by association or revenge attitude. I do not know if that is the case, the current media makes you think so.
This is not a case of guilty by association, as there are witness statements which shows Yakub's role. If these statements were inaccurate, Memon's lawyers would have broken that story by now. This is also not a case of revenge, but a kind of message to wanna-be terrorists that delayed it may be, but justice would be served. The media as always is just going along the expected lines. Memon is from the minority community, and that itself sets the agenda. The media was silent when Dhananjoy Chatterjee a "poor" criminal was executed for rape & murder. The media is also resorting the cheapest tactic which is taken by even a pick pocket, that is
"Do a,b & c things before arresting me". A pick pocket will demand police arrests all dacoits before arresting him, dacoits in turn would demand, rapists and murderers to be arrested first, and they would in turn that politicians involved in scams should get arrested first. These are all just excuses to get away from the hands of the law.

May be I did not explain correctly. When I wrote "financing", I meant covering the financial aspects of the whole nefarious operations. Not generating the funds, but using the funds effectively.
Ujjwal Nikam on Yakub's role.
The evidence against him and some of the key accused was clinching. Yakub Memon was among the key conspirators who had left Mumbai before the blasts. He had been part of the conspiracy which was hatched in Dubai.
....
He had travelled to Dubai for the meeting which was attended by Dawood Ibrahim and three other Pakistani nationals. The conspiracy was hatched in Dubai and then people were taken to Pakistan for training in how to use RDX-laden bombs and other weapons like rocket launchers.
From India Today..
The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the curative mercy plea of 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict, Yakub Abdul Razak Memon , clearing the way for his hanging expected on July 30. Memon was awarded the death sentence by a Special Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (TADA) court in Mumbai on July 27, 2007 for his role in the blasts, including arranging finances for carrying out the 13 serial explosions which left 257 dead and over 700 injured across the city on March 12, 1993.
