India should ban allowing any Pakistani sportsperson in participating in any of the Indian Professional/League sports teams.
Last year in the first edition of the Indian Kabbadi league ,there were pakistani kabbadi players who got paid 80 Lacs-1 crore in who happily took the money, later in the World championship title after pakistan lost to India some of these players alleged that India cheated, referring was unfair and that Indian players had applied oil on their body.

Again India should not be allowing any of these players to be a part of the Indian riches.

India beats france in second hockey test (4-1)

NEW DELHI: Gurjinder Singh scored a fine brace as India convincingly beat France 4-1, in the second and final match of the two-match series, to kick-start their European tour in emphatic fashion.

Team India convincingly won the two-match series 2-0 against France and will now travel to Spain for three games. India defeated France 2-0 in the first match of their Euro Tour.

Gurjinder (14th minute, 44th) scored twice while Mohammad Amir Khan (30th) and Rupinder Pal Singh (52nd) found the net once for India. For the hosts Baumgarten scored the lone goal in the 21st minute.

India started on a positive note as they held possession to push the French players back with short passes. Rupinder Pal Singh hits Team India's first penalty corner low to the right, but a good save by the French goalkeeper denied them from scoring.

Akashdeep Singh took India's second short corner as he pushed the ball to VR Raghunath, who flicked it wide of the post. Satbir Singh earned another penalty corner for India and Gurjinder Singh finally converted it beautifully to hit the back of the net. India were leading 1-0 after the end of the first quarter.

However, France fought back hard and scored a brilliant field goal to level the terms 1-1 with 9 minutes to go in the second quarter. India once again took lead after scoring on the brink of half-time by virtue of a brilliant rebound by young Mohammad Amir Khan. With this fine goal India went into the breather with a 2-1 lead over France.

France started well in the third quarter as they created back-to-back opportunities but Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh came to the fore to deny them any breakthrough. France earned an early short corner but Sreejesh once again made a fine save.

On the other hand Indian players scripted a fine move on the counter attack, immediately after the penalty corner, as Gurjinder slotted his second goal to read the scoreline 3-1. India were leading 3-1 after the end of the third quarter.

Rupinderpal Singh converted a penalty corner to make it 4-1 against France as India took full control of the proceedings in the final quarter of the match.

India will play Spain in their next match of the Europe tour at Sant Cugat del Valles on August 10.

Gurjinder is a new penalty corner specialist. I recall he scored in the 2015 Hockey World League Semifinal against a major team when Rupinder sat out through injury, and that was his first experience. He's already grown better within a couple of months, scoring 2 goals in this match. Now we have, I think, Raghunath, Rupinder and Gurjinder to shoot PCs.

Sreejesh continues to be among the best goalies in the world.

To my surprise, Gutta/Ponnapppa have beaten the Japanese pair of Kakiiwa/Maeda. The latter are a powerful team, Olympic silver medalists and bronze in the last world championship. Good to see Gutta/Ponnappa get better again.

New Delhi, 13 August 2015: After winning the second match, the India Men Team registered their second win against Spain in the third and last match of the Europe Tour. India forward player Ramandeep Singh’s two spectacular goals within a minute helped the Indian team to outplay Spain by 4-2 in the match played in Terrassa, Spain.

The first quarter started with a brisk pace as both the team competed to dominate in the early stage of the game. After a barrage of attacks in the opening minutes, Spain managed to earn a penalty corner but an alerted PR Sreejesh kept the ball away from the net. Indian forwards counter-attacked in the next moment and kept on pressing for goals but did not find enough space against a formidable Spanish defence. After an intense tussle from both sides, the first quarter did not see any goal as the Teams finished 0-0.

The second quarter commenced with the same intensity, but this time both India and Spain changed their tactics and started playing the long ball game. Chinglensana Singh penetrated the Spanish circle twice, but failed to convert the attempts in goals. The Indians however earned a penalty corner in the 24th minute, which was perfectly converted into the first goal by drag-flicker Rupinder Pal Singh and helped his team to take an early lead of 1-0. However, Spanish team struck back in the next minute (25th) as Ricardo Santana dribbled past the India defenders and scored the equaliser for his team. After the goal, both the teams played defensive game for a few minutes and finished the quarter at 1-1 score-line.

In the third quarter, both the teams entered the field with different strategies and game-plans to tackle each other. The Indian forwards tested the Spanish defence again and attacked from all sides. Against the run of play, the Indian defenders fouled on the Spanish striker which resulted in penalty corner in favour of Spain. However, Sreejesh continued his good form to keep the score at 1-1. The Spanish team tried to slow down the Indian pace but the Indian players attacked relentlessly to put pressure on their opponents. In the last few minutes, India earned a penalty corner but this time Rupinder Pal’s flick went wide of the post. In the 45th minute, Akashdeep Singh sneaked into the Spanish circle and managed to dribble-past defenders before hitting the ball in the goal box for another lead. The third quarter finished at 2-1 score in favour of India.

In the fourth quarter, the Spain put an extra player in their attacking line-up to score goals and equalise the score-card. The Spanish players attacked the Indian defence more fiercely but they faced India’s strong defence line, who denied their attacks. After a few attempts, Spain equalled the score 2-2 in the 49thminute with a field goal scored by Xavier Lleonart. After conceding the goal, India counter-attacked the very next minute and looked for more opportunities. Banking on the long ball passes from teammates, Ramandeep managed to sneak into the Spanish defence in the 50th minute and scored the third goal for his team. Moments later, he kept his cool to score another goal in the 50th minute, which gave India a 4-2 lead. Spain got a chance to come-back in the dying moments of the game but Sreejesh stood up as a wall to deny the Spanish side again. India, after losing the first game and came back strongly in the final two, finished the European Tour on a high.

Shreejas to get Arjuna Award

New Delhi, 14 August 2015: Hockey India today congratulated PR Sreejesh the Vice Captain of the Indian Men Hockey team and who is even regarded as the Wall of Indian hockey in recent times, for being nominated to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award this year.

PR Sreejesh the goalkeeper and Vice Captain of the team, hails from Kerala and made his debut with the Indian Men team in the year 2006 at the South Asian Games held in Colombo that year. Since then there is no looking back for the versatile and agile goalie, as he had gone on to be regarded as the backbone of the Indian defence and has successfully held the fort strong on many occasions. It was because of his vital contribution that India won the Gold in the 17th Asian Games last year, when the Final match against Pakistan entered the nail biting penalty shoot out phase. His coolness and not allowing pressure to take the better of him resulted in the opponents unable to find the nets, resulting in the shootout and the game going in India’s favour by 4-2. The win ensured that India not only won the Gold but even booked a berth to the upcoming RIO Olympics 2016. PR Sreejesh was also part of the Silver Medal finishing team during the XX Commonwealth Games held in 2014.

Congratulating PR Sreejesh on the momentous occasion, Mohd Mushtaque Ahmad, Secretary General, Hockey India said “Sreejesh has always made us proud of him, be it his strong play on the field or his cool under pressure situations or his way of motivating his team members during the game, everything about him gives a very positive energy. Today on this occasion where he has been the chosen one for the prestigious Arjuna Award, we at Hockey India take this opportunity to congratulate him and hope to see him winning more such awards in the future”.

PR Sreejesh will receive the award from the Honorable President Pranab Mukherjee on 29 August 2015.

In men`s, Srikanth lost a very tight match to Hu Yun. Also Prannoy played very well. They had tough draws.

Although Sindhu, Srikanth will lead Indian badminton for a long time, we need to start focussing on the next generation too.

India finishes fourth at Asian Boxing Championships

India signed off a creditable fourth among the record 28 countries which participated in the Asian Boxing Championships after grabbing one silver and three bronze medals on the whole.

India logged 16 points for their performance in the event to finish behind table-toppers Kazakhstan (42 points), Uzbekistan (38 points) and hosts Thailand (17 points) respectively.

Vikas Krishan (75kg) won the lone silver, while the three bronze medals came through L Devendro Singh (49kg), Shiva Thapa (56kg) and Satish Kumar (+91kg).

The country ranked third in the list of total boxers who qualified for next month’s World Championships — the first qualifying event for the Olympic Games next year.

Six Indian boxers made the cut for the Doha event scheduled from October 6. Besides the medallists, the other two who qualified for the world event were Manoj Kumar (64kg) and Madan Lal (52kg).

The day he beat Flying Sikh Milkha Singh’s record and won a bronze in the 21st Asian Athletics Championship organised in China in June, 26-year-old Dharmbir from Haryana thought he had overcome much of the life’s odds that had been checking his growth as a sportsman.

Son of a small-time farmer from Ajayab village in Rohtak district, he clocked 20.66 seconds in the 200-metre sprint as against 20.80 seconds by Milkha Singh. The feat also saw him register a new national record -- the previous was set by Anil Kumar, 20.73 seconds.

But the achievement hasn’t proved big enough for him to get support from the government to enable him prepare for the Olympics, to be held in Rio de Janeiro next year. To qualify for the world games, he only needs to improve a bit and complete the 200-metre event in 20.5 seconds.

Confident of not just qualifying but also securing a medal in the world event, Dharmbir says lack of funds and requisite training facilities have been proving a major stumbling block. “A pair of good-quality spikes for practice cost around Rs14,000 and these get worn out within a month or two. Food supplements as well as training from a good coach, physiotherapist, doctor and massager too are indispensable. An experience of running on foreign soil is also a must to have first-hand exposure. I cannot afford all these and help from the government has not come yet,” he says. Working as an insurance agent to earn his livelihood, Dharmbir says he has approached the district as well as the state authorities for help several times but to no avail. “I could not participate in the London Olympics in 2012 due to similar constraints. The situation has been the same as yet this time too,” he laments.

Dharmbir has also participated and won medals in the 2010 Asian Games, Delhi Commonwealth Games and several other events.

Leave aside his selection for a government job under sports quota, the athlete is yet to receive due cash rewards amounting to Rs 16 lakh. He maintains if the Haryana Government does not sponsor his training and other facilities, he would have no option but to represent some other state.

Dharmbir says he had to raise a loan of Rs 6 lakh to prepare for the Asian championship, and that it was not possible for him to get under more debt. “I have offers from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Kerala. But I want to represent Haryana, my home state... I may have to make a choice if help doesn’t come,” adds Dharmbir.

India won the 4-match hockey series against higher ranked New Zealand 2-1 . The series was played in NZ .

Match 1: lost 0-2
Match 2: won 3-1
Match 3: won 3-2
Match 4: drew 1-1

We've also jumped up one place in the FIH rankings to #8, right behind NZ. Hopefully we'll overtake them and Argentina soon to make the top 6 again.

भारतीय युवा टीम दमदार खेल दिखाते हुए पाकिस्तान को खेल के हर मामले में पीछे छोड़ दिया। भारत ने हर क्वॉर्टर में गोल दागे। भारतीय गोल की शुरुआत मैच के पांचवें मिनट में अजय यादव ने की। इसके बाद 23वें मिनट में सुमित कुमार गोल करने में सफल रहे। तीन मिनट बाद अरमान कुरैशी ने गोल कर स्कोर 3-0 कर दिया। हाफ टाइम बाद परविंदर सिंह ने 34वें मिनट में गोल कर मैच को एकतरफा बना दिया। हालांकि इसके बाद पाकिस्तान के मोहम्मद दिलबर ने गोल कर अंतर को कम किया लेकिन मैच के अंतिम मिनट में संता सिंह ने गोल कर भारत की जीत 5-1 से सुनिश्चित कर दी।
