West Asia News and Discussions (YEMEN, gulf)
Re: West Asia News and Discussions (YEMEN, gulf)
seems to be these humvees have been hidden and kept for a certain purpose. to be used as 1-ton suicide bombs when the sieges of major IS centers happen - in the way japan was using kamikaze planes and boats in the end...since we do not see them much nowadays if at all, where did such a massive number disappear....they are certainly hidden and in running condition, not being tanks which need special care and upkeep....only batteries would need recharge

Do you remember a video shot by someone standing at the side of a road in KSA, showing an endless line of tanks/ tank transporters zipping by, heading to Yemen? Long time back. Wonder what became of them. Roadkill?

Are we sure if it was heading to Yemen or running away from Yemen ?UlanBatori wrote:Do you remember a video shot by someone standing at the side of a road in KSA, showing an endless line of tanks/ tank transporters zipping by, heading to Yemen? Long time back. Wonder what became of them. Roadkill?

I mean, can you really blame Iraqis for not wanting to be Arab?
Leith Abou Fadel @leithfadel 2h2 hours ago
The idea of "Arab nationalism" is a folklore. Syria has a 10,000 year history - Saudi Arabia has a 90 year history. We are not the same.

I used to attack Iraqis who didn't call themselves "Arab". Now, I find myself agreeing with them. It's hard to share an identity with Saudis

some 2400 sq km in hasakah was rolled over in 72 hours...which means ISIS did not have any prepared defences at all...just tripwires
that pocket likely got trapped due to no vehicles ready to move out and lack of warning.
if enough manpower, fuel and vehicles were available, NDF could have reached the gates of Raqqa and Deir in next one week instead of 2 months expected now.

Ahem
They blow up their tanks. They snipe their chocolate soldiers. They shoot down their helicopters. They sink their ships.
And now the Yemeni Houthis have hijacked the Saudi Arabians' DRONE, and successfully landed it.
For their next act, one can only fondly hope they will pinch a few Saudi nukes (if any exist), and drop them onto Riyadh.

CIA Confirms: Saudi Arabia has Four to Seven Nuclear Bombs, Deliverable by Missile or Aircraft
Post by Newsroom Feb 20, 2016
Post by Newsroom Feb 20, 2016
Founding Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Counter-Terrorism Operations Center publicly confirms Saudi Arabia has deliverable nuclear bombs.
Last week, on "The Hal Turner Show" Mr. Turner told his audience that, based on his years of experience as a National Security Intelligence Asset with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, Saudi Arabia is in possession of nuclear weapons. He also made clear that a CIA asset had (earlier) made this revelation in public, on FOX NEWS CHANNEL, and this revelation was a staggering breach of Classified Information protocols.
Turner went on to say that "the only way a guy from the CIA would reveal such information is if Washington WANTED the information revealed; otherwise the person who exposed the classified material could be criminally prosecuted."
Given the fact this revelation comes at a time when Syrian and Russian forces, battling Rebels and Terrorists inside Syria, may soon face a massive invading ground force, backed by massive amounts of tanks, the Russians may have to use Tactical (Battlefield) Nuclear Weapons to defend themselves from being over-run. Thus, the release of this information by the CIA on FOX NEWS CHANNEL is actually a THREAT to Russia; don't use tactical nukes or the Saudis will nuke them back!
IMO, like many other reports coming out of this secretive kingdom, it is unlikely that this can be verified; but going by their recent behaviour, they would not hesitate to use such weapons, if their survival/power is at stake !Above is a map showing the actual, proven range, of DongFeng Missiles, possessed by Saudi Arabia. These missiles are perfectly capable of carrying nuclear weapons within the range shown. Moreover, as you will see in the video below, the nuclear bombs which the Saudis have, can also be delivered to targets by Saudi F-15 fighter jets; meaning they can be dropped well beyond the range shown on the map above!
VIOLATION OF NUCLEAR NON-PROLIFERATION TREATY
Arabian Peninsula countries included Saudi Arabia and Bahrain who ratified or acceded to the Nuclear non-Proliferation Treaty in 1988, Qatar and Kuwait in 1989, UAE in 1995, and Oman in 1997.
The fact that Saudi Arabia now admits they took possession of nuclear bombs despite having signed the Treaty means something very simple: Saudi Arabia's "word" cannot be trusted. Even with something as serious and solemn as a Treaty, their "word" is no good. Even when their "King" signs a treaty, the word of their King is now proved to be no good. To put it in street terms, Saudis are "shifty."
We have now obtained the video from FOX NEWS CHANNEL and present it here under the Fair Use Exemption of United States Copyright Law, for news purposes.

maybe they ran out of ammo and are waiting delivery of the next batch from US.

Saudi Arabia and Qatar have boosted arms imports by more than 275 percent in the last four years, according to a report published recently by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, which monitors the global weapons trade. The increased spending on weapons comes as both Middle Eastern countries have grown deeply entangled in regional military conflicts, including in Yemen and Syria.

Yemeni Huthis continue to demonstrate the variety of military equipment in service with the Saudi army. The network "Youtube" there was a video , which shows wheeled armored personnel carriers destroyed Saudi Pegaso 3560 BMR (BMR-600) Spanish production. Saudi Arabia at the time bought 140 such APCs obtained in 1985-1986 and entered into service with the Saudi Marine Corps.

Re: West Asia News and Discussions (YEMEN, gulf)
The Yemeni Army’s rocket battalion has struck again; this time, they delivered a direct hit with a Qahir-1 ballistic missile on a Saudi-led Coalition base at Beir Al-Mizariq in the Al-Jawf Governorate of Yemen. According to Al-Jabhah News, the Qahir-1 missile struck a Saudi-led Coalition military installation, killing several mercenaries and Saudi soldiers, while also destroying much of the base’s infrastructure. Al-Jabhah News did not provide a death toll for the missile strike; however, they did acknowledge that many Coalition fighters were killed as a result of the direct hit.

An airbase is a big target
Killing so many suggests that these missiles are able to hit specific buildings or areas
How are they being targeted?
What is their range?
How are they aimed?

What are the specs for this Qahir-1 missile? Looks better than the Scuds used by Saddam Hussein.

Well the Emiratis are running out of steam..After disgruntled groups of Southern militia stormed the Aden Airport, probably angry at the growing AQ violence and the free run they are having in the South, UAE troops have abandoned Aden.
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/02/24 ... -shut.html
This has led to a shut down of Aden airport.
Meanwhile 50 Saudi troops are believed to be dead in the Al-Jawf Missile strike. Nice going, Houthis.

I think the same Balaclava Boyz are doing the targeting, as used to do it in Mariupol. And pretty big payloads too.

this missile work on GPS/Glonass coordinates?

The SA-2 or S-75 Dvina has a 200 kg warhead, so its pretty much unchanged. Not sure how they managed 300 km range? Pretty much like a bigger heavier Prahaar but being 2 stage instead of one.

Or air-launched?
Re: West Asia News and Discussions (YEMEN, gulf)
too big to be air launched
must be a smaller warhead to accommodate the fuel
its the targeting accuracy which i find most intriguing

Re: West Asia News and Discussions (YEMEN, gulf)
perhaps iranian consultants had put in new glonass guidance pkgs before the war began. they and the iraqis have some exp with modifying the scud type missiles.
once you have a antenna capable of receiving glonass signals you get some few meters CEP.
