Citing the example of his father Dhirubhai Ambani, he said he was neither a chemical engineer nor a technologist nor did he have any prior experience in the oil and gas sector. “Yet sir, he created the world’s largest oil and gas business, the largest refinery, and the largest petro-chemical company in the world. Clearly, there would have been no Reliance in existence today if experience was the sole defining yardstick of entrepreneurial success,” he said.

Even the ones with experience making smaller components over decades did not get chance to make new things. So these newbies has to wait until they prove that they can make small things and that also in good quality and timely delivery. Experience in other areas never means you can just port it into defense. Not all such attempts are successful and will never be. Take the case of Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel won by Pipavav. No news about it. Better they invest their time and energy in delivering those than shout about lack of opportunities.

The "R" Co. have signed an agreement with Rafael of Israel for manufacture of AAMs,With Russia for ships,etc.,and past reports with other entities for manufacturing almost everything major for the armed forces.It is the most aggressive of all Indian cos. entering the defence field and with their huge political,financial and manpower resources will definitely swing a few major deals their way,in collaboration with the firang entities mentioned.It is going to be very difficult to stop the R Co. when it has tied up collaboration with the world's major OEMs who are already supplying their wares to us.

Adamya, which means ‘impossible to subdue or defeat’ in Sanskrit, is the name of a new autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) from Indian firm Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
The AUV is being developed in-house, and the prototype on show at DefExpo will head off for sea trials soon after the exhibition in Goa has concluded.
The shape of the Adamya indicates that it has been designed to be launched from a submarine torpedo tube. L&T states this is ‘a pioneering feat globally.’ Evidently, the AUV can be launched from a surface vessel as well.
The prototype is a heavyweight version with 5.825m length and 533mm diameter, however, it can be scaled down to medium-weight and lightweight types in the future. The Indian Navy (IN) has a requirement for all three AUV types, with RfPs already having been issued.
The heavyweight version of Adamya has a 50kg payload capacity, which could accommodate such functions as a side-scan radar, encrypted communications device, mine countermeasure charge shot or high-capacity sonar. A modular design allows mission customisation by navy users.
L&T lists potential applications for the Adamya as: hydrographic survey, mine countermeasures, ISR, offshore survey, clandestine monitoring, environmental monitoring and anti-submarine warfare.
The 1,012kg prototype currently has a Tritech sonar with 300m range for trial purposes such as proving collision avoidance algorithms. Its depth rating is listed as 500m by L&T.
A spokesperson said L&T began development of the Adamya in late 2011. Buoyancy and pressure tests have been successfully completed at L&T’s facilities already. Development is expected to conclude midyear, after which time the IN will be invited to study its capabilities.

If LRSAM/MRSAM could reutilize infra for Akash or vice versa, the. logistics could be handled better. Then we will truly have a S-300 level of missile complex with shared comm/search/tracking units being able to engage different targets at different depths using different missile types.
Our QRSAM/MRSAM/Akash/AAD/PAD systems should be independent as well as integrated as a unified system.

Apart from Tatra 8×8, BEML also assembles 12×12, 10×10, 6×6, and 4×4 variants in India at their plant in Kerala. Tatra stall at 2016 DefExpo was organized by the Czech team to showcase their products to a global audience.

L&T's UUV are comparable to ATLAS ELEKTRONIKA SeaOtter.
Comparing it with an ongoing DARPA project is naive and asinine as they are targeted to be fully autonomous vehicle. Ours is RPV.

The ones based on the REMUS 600 offer anywhere from 12 to 20 hours of endurance depending upon the mission and the sensor payload being deployed. Do away with the need to launch from a torpedo tube and you can go really fancy, and those are the ones that offer higher endurance such as the Large Displacement UUV (LDUUV) that does about 30 days. There you are essentially blurring the lines between a UUV and a mini-unmanned submarine. Endurance requirement is also mission specific. There may be plenty of missions where a 20 hour endurance is simply not required and is therefore a burden on both the organization developing it, and the operator paying for it. Question is how will the submarine recover the UUV? A surface ship could send out a crew to fetch the floating device.

A tube lunched UUV will reduce the weaponry carried aboard,unless it is fired from the decoy tubes as in an SSN/Akula. Our Akula/Chakra had its extra tubes plated over when it arrived from pics.Ideally,strap-on packs would be best.Some subs have fixing devices atop the hull abaft of the sail for a special forces SDV module.Otherwise it becomes an expendable UUV.Here,if it is used to penetrate enemy harbour defences and used as a LR kamikaze torpedo,OK.If meant strictly for recce,then it has to be retrieved by the sub which may have to surface to do so.The French already have an LR torpedo that keeps on prosecuting the targeted sub for a few hours,as it might get fooled by some decoys.

Hi everyone .. Just came back to my home after so long boring Journey, I've taken some good pictures, but missed many, since every visitors are so busy by taking pictures and Selfie's with the weapon systems.
Also I didn't get a chance to interact with the officials, Since I've no badge and I'm not so old. also many of the exhibitors are already left from the venue,The American stalls are empty, No Americans too
Will start uploading the photos.. also I grabbed as much as Brouchers as I can ..will upload them later

Thank you. One comment about L&Ts video editing dept. They have tried to make the video too short. It is high on animation but titles do not last long enough.
