The US conveyed regret on Saturday over the coalition air strikes that it said accidently killed Syrian forces. Washington has acknowledged that an air strike that was intended to be against Islamic State (Isis) positions in the eastern city of Deir-Ezzor may have accidentally hit Syrian army forces.

A US military official told AFP, "We believe about a half-dozen vehicles, including what we think was a tank, were struck as well as personnel who were out in the open." The US military said that the coalition had stopped air strikes after Moscow informed them that Syrian military forces and vehicles may have been hit.

US ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power said, "We are investigating the incident. If we determine that we did indeed strike Syrian military personnel, that was not our intention. And we of course regret the loss of life [sic]."
..............
Meanwhile, Australia offered condolences to the family members of the Syrian soldiers killed or wounded in the coalition air strikes, which the country had participated in. In a statement, the Australian Ministry of Defense said, "While Syria remains a dynamic and complex operating environment, Australia would never intentionally target a known Syrian military unit or actively support Daesh (also known as ISIL). Defence offers its condolences to the families of any Syrian personnel killed or wounded in this incident."

In war, fate is fickle indeed. The Obama administration is deeply sorry about that.

Maybe everyone in Syria will be a bit more careful, eh?

We'll have to wait and see now won't we?

BTW, the Obama administration is giving out love taps compared to what The Donald has pledged to do in the war against ISIS if he is elected. prolly won't be but still......

The Donald loves his home boy Putin and wouldn't want anything to happen to Putin's minions BUT you unleash the kind of bombing campaign he has in mind and random probability will reign supreme. :(

Russia & Syria need 2 understand that the Zor bombing was Lt Gen Townsend's mutinous move to torpedo the US-RU deal

Townsend is the 4th US general who has mutinied against Obama after McChrystal, Petraeus, and Flynn

US needs to be replied in same coin else morale will drop considerably. Maybe something directed at Israel or US bases in ME. Russia has to up the stakes considerably because this is a direct provoation. Else it will lose the soft power it has accumulated worldwide and in ME. You never live in peace with anglo-zionist-Islamist. Either them or us. Or they be slaves.

Compare the number of Americans, Pakistanis have murdered vs limited skirmishes US had with Pak forces. And then compare what USA did on a trumped issue in Syria. Pakis are killing US soldiers left right and centre and getting US$ Billions in aid. The strong arm tactics of USA in Syria is to protect its ISIS brothers both in Syria and hopefully in Iraq.

this is off topic Gyan, but Pakistan got so hacked about it they cut off all supply access routes through Pakistan to Afghanistan for several months. they have the US over the barrel for access to Afghanistan.

we've since cut back our troops and heavy equipment needs in Afghanistan so things aren't so critical anymore, but still, Pakistan is essential to our presence there. The Donald if elected, may change this situation, but who knows how much is bluster and much is real in his foreign policy out look?

Samantha Power walks out during UN Russian speech over US bombing of Syrian army
"It is clear that the United States must come up with some very serious actions. What actions, I can not say now, but what I saw today, unfortunately, was very concerning, as my American colleague Samantha Power behaved very strange at the least," - said Russia's permanent representative to the UN Churkin on the results of the consultations of Security Council in connection with Western coalition air strike on Syrian government forces in Deir ez-Zor.

Unbelievable, they say it's a mistake and she doesn't tender even a single apology. What arrogance she walks off without mentioning anything about US backstabbing Russian coalition and attacking SAA in it's own country and getting away mumbling something about 'Russia is grandstanding' .. besharam female kutiya.

duniya bhar ka gand is ek mulk mein bhar rakha hain. they suddenly got a boost when 'a ceasefire' was announced and when you work on ceasefire with a terrorist, the terrorist gets emboldened. As has been the case many times with ceasefire with Pakistan. Afghanistan & India have learnt hard lessons here. Now Russia is learning this.

this happened yesterday, how about shooting down US drones instead of just shooing them away. Time to install proper air defences in DeZ like buks, pantsir etc.

DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA (8:00 P.M.) - The Syrian Arab Army's 137th Artillery Brigade of the 17th Tank Division opened fire on a U.S. reconnaissance drone today after it was spotted flying over the Thardeh Mountains of Deir Ezzor.

According to a source at the Deir Ezzor Military Airport, the 137th Brigade fired several shots at the U.S. reconnaissance drone in Jabal Thardeh, forcing it immediately leave the area after several warnings

americans are trying to avoid all blame of giving air cover to ISIS claiming it ain't them but their danish puppy that was bombing al-tharda ..
gives them deniability cover.

the mountain that ISIS recaptured with help from US coalition was important in protecting the DeZ airport, now with that mountain coming under IS control they have fire control over parts of the airport. Wasn't this what US was trying hard to do all the while. Helicopter borne reinforcements and heli landings are now difficult and can come under TOW attack from elevated positions on the hill.

the initial 'mistake'

1. First pass by 2 F-16
2. Low pass by A-10
3. All of the above watched by 2 predator drones
4. Attacking entrenched positions on a stable frontline, hitting atleast 160 soldiers, 3 tanks + 3 BMPs. ie A full company + cavalry.

right before an imminent ISIS assault.

All this when the 'state-of-the-art' predator drones can read number plates off cars on ground.

the second 'mistake' as recorded above is to target ambulances evacuating injured soldiers.

SAA deserves support from entire world for single-handedly fighting such tyranny.'

ISIS finally have the air cover they always lacked.

will the USAF fight itself when the turks finally get to raqqa ? a north team staging out of incirlik to help the turks and a south team staging from jordan to help the ISIS ?

jabal tharda will have to be recaptured at all costs, as it permitted Mi17 helis to fly people in and out. I do not think IL76 have been landing at deir azzor airport but making parachute drops only...maybe manpad threat is there over the approach & takeoff routes. some soln will need to be found to have heavy a.c land daily and permit more movement of people, SAMs, tanks and such.

best bet imo is
- do enough to have IL76 operate safely
- station a squadron of attack helis and frogfoots in deir azzor to beat up the ISIS daily
- orlan drones to spot targets at night for the helis to hunt down...isis moves at night to mask from observers

Palmyra is 200k away and SAA has no resources to march that far and hold the lines open unless ISIS is on last legs and preparing to scatter as desert bandits.

Hashd PMU in iraq has the men and materials to march to deir azzor but they have retake Al Qaim and are tied up next 6 months @ Mosul

the kurds could push south from shahdadi but have low motivation and are sulking at being betrayed by all sides except saa. they lost 12 and killed 55 IS in a fight at shahdadi last week.

if the deir azzor garrison leaves the place and attempts to flee across the desert to palmyra, civilians will get massacred enmasse , US bombers will kill the rest incl ISIS and the "new syrian army" will be flown into claim the place as the HQ of their new caliphate. assad will lose the oil and gas there permanently...this is perhaps the US motivation,,,chase assad out of this region for good and setup this NSA + paid off arab tribes as the new rulers of this region to link up with the turkish sponsored caliphate thats forming in the north.

Russians & Indians seems to be the recalciterants on world stage, never respond directly and disproportionately to terror taunts of the anglozionist-islamist coalition. You cannot fight these groups with calm reasoning & civility. For a zionist, the more SAA or SAA-muslims they kill they win, they win because it helps them to soften up SAA and prevent the SAA from intervening when they attack Hezbollah in bekaa valley. When hezbollah is settled, they can attack Iran. Because Iran doesn't have the hezbollah sword at the jewish neck. Once Iran goes, the Russians, Chinese, Indians are up for grabs.

Pakistan has to be completely destroyed before this scenario can come to pass & americans can attack South Asia via Pakistani terror proxies again because then the americans will restart paki army & economy in 10 years time before war with Chindia.

within the limits of their financial and soft power, russians have been quite ruthless in defending their vital interests.

its india who is the perennial guy who punches way below our weight, completely risk averse and prone to cowering.

imagine a country like vietnam, first scalped the french, then the usa and then china also. HALF the country lay in ruins, huge manpower losses, but they went out there and "did whatever it took" to make it happen.

china also took on usa + UN (incl UK + ANZAC + India) in korean war and made sure its interests got protected by setting up Noko.

those who have it do it, rest indulge in sophistry like "revenge is a dish best served cold", "retaliation at a time and place of our choosing" and "we will retaliate when immediate crisis is over" :rotfl: sadly, all our enemies are well aware of this.
