Army strikes terror camps in PoK
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
watch it, DGMO came to know after operation was initiated.
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
Now is really the time to wait and see what pmo has in mind. A big excercise on the border would be a fine welcome to the incoming pa coas.
At the end of the day our primary objective is to take the pressure off the afghans. We should do our best to keep the border nice and toasty. At the same time these afgans need arms, money, and training. We should also station some special operations forces there and help the afghans put together a baloch regiment.

Never exclude to keep the pressure on more strikes.. abrogate the IWT and retain MFN naam for pakistan (f=effed-up).
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
both kangress and aaptards maintain a very well supported tweet/sm cell with outsourced ops to places like dhaka, where 20 something rabid fanatics will post under the names of true indian etc and make vicious comments against hindus in particular. these jokers just go on RT'ing people like shukla as long as it is perceived anti BJP.sudhan wrote:His ramblings are restricted to twitterCRamS wrote:

BTW, shukla - thank goodness this rotten mindset is out of the armed forces. every other veteran is literally crying with joy for the post-Uri retaliation and this deracinated fool can't think beyond his own ego which he masks behind a lot of drivel around secularism, hindutva, rss, this, that.
at this point he is just useful for his contacts w/in MOD maintained from pre BJP days which allow him to report on local programs. otherwise, he is a bitter individual whose own fellow veterans will increasingly hold him in contempt. how long will political chamchagiri disguise such behavior? more and more of his own veterans will call him out.
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
Looking at the Terrain in the area mentioned and for a 3-4 hour operation, they should have used helicopters. I think Pakis were always assuming India would never cross LOC and were complacent in defending these areas. Also there is no way this is 2-3 km inside the LOC. It should be > 6 km down hill and possible crossing of Neelum river to get to the camps.

Who cares man.. Let him be. Ops complete. This is what we wanted to share. End of story. We shouldn't bother answering or releasing any more details.

Guy is trying to ferret details of the op for his Paymasters. Just like after POK II tests.
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
I'm happy. Last time I was this happy was July 1999. Every country always has some sanctimonious pricks who have some agenda to grind. I'm glad the operations were successful and no Indian soldier lost their life. I do hope they release footage down the road so that the Pakistani lie of this not happening are thrown back on their face. Congratulations.

It is necessary to continue operations like this every few days for years and years. Until Pak becomes completely nanga. Let them spend more on defense and eat grass.

Third rate detritus of academia. When the best and brightest were focused on the Soviet Union, Europe, and China, Perkovitch found a niche peddling his nonsense regarding the Indian subcontinent. That era is long gone. Perkovitch needs to refocus on Upper Volta strategic affairs. He is intellectually incapable of analyzing the 21st century Indian subcontinent.

I put on my "Think like a Paki" hat and it occurs to me that denial is the safest option for Pakistan to be "not defeated" . It also allows them to carry on infiltrating terrorists, but being prepared for retaliation next time. New ideas will be needed.

Pakistan is thus far denying the strikes. That is a part of response strategy to obtain more time for assessment.Knowing the history of Indian response over many years the Pakistan establishment is probably surprised. However, the Indian public needs to be sensitive to the fact that the Pakistanis will respond and probably borrow a leaf from our concept -"time and place of their choosing". It will glove it under the garb of a terror strike by LeT or even the United Jehad Council. No location on the LoC will be hundred per-cent secure.
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
My thoughts; much to our takleef and groans Modi is likely to give Pakistan a chance. While building capacity & waiting to see Pakistan's reaction, his job is to grow India. I do not think he will break up Pakistan yet. Doval's job is national security which means internal security as well. Doval would strive to wean away radical muslims away from Saudi and Pakistan. Modi's job is governance and growth. Only if Doval senses that the breakup of Pakistan is what will permanently alter the mindset of radical muslims would he recommend that to Modi.
As any armchair-general will tell you war is costly. Doval and Modi will avoid war; but if it is necessary they will go for an all out war. Doval believes in 4th-generation warfare and is likely to take that into Pakistan. Doval's brain knows Pakistan has to be broken down; but he is a practical man. Assets would have to be improved, more capacity to be build and he has to keep Indian muslims in his heart. So he will wait for more mischief from Pakistan. Now, Pakistan is forced to escalate; and when it crosses another threshold Doval will be pushed further to break Pakistan.
Right now, Modi has conveyed to Pakistan that all options (but newclear) will be exercised. Doval will absorb the hits, and when his assets have increased inside Pakistan and India has gained more capacity then he will advise Modi to break Pakistan.

Came late to this party today. Not surprisingly, there is no mention of this landmark achievement by the IA on any of the major news outlets in the US. It did not make the top 20 on my iPhone news feed.
But I am happier today than I have been in over 20 yrs, even more so than in May 2014. I've been having goose-pimples all day. Reminds me of the Bravehearts marching on Republic Day earlier this year.
Let us remember and savor the moment again.........There is no turning back now.
Sorry, haven't figured out how to edit this, the Paras appear at 11.00

Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
Christopher Sidor, you are going with the paki claim of 2, not believing the DGMO's 38 figure and yet is looking for a confirmation about more. Who in your view is credible enough to confirm that for you? Expect a response.
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
Gen Hasnain is rightfully cautioning us, but it is time Indian security apparatus (including politicians in positions of power) starts going to that next level of responses. It is time to roll back the pakistan experiment and move on.

Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
Initial reports suggested some PA border posts were destroyed, probably while returning. Why not occupy that territory if GoI truly believes it's Indian anyway? It allows us to ingress deeper next time.

1948 -- They said some tribals invaded J&K -- Proved wrong
1965 -- They said just a local uprising -- Never mentioned Black Jack and Grand Slam -- Agian proved wrong.
1971 -- Dec 16th They said they are destroying the Indian Army and winning in BD. Dec 17th Thye said Oops we surrender.
1999 -- They said two dozen Jihadis captured the heights on Kargil and holding up 20 Indian divisions. Then their PM goes to Washington and goes on his knees (like Monica Lewinsky) and does something to Clinton to save their Army
When was the last time Pakis told the truth?

Singha,
We should probably try to refocus the conversation on emerging news. I think all the previous points have been discussed to death. This will keep the thread moving.

Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
CNN News 18 claims the entire operations was being beamed live because the soldiers where wearing cameras on their helmets. It seems Pigeon and Garuda knew every move. So there is video evidence; and I think the necessary top level politicians of national parties would have been shown (or will be shown) selected clippings.
Obviously hazar things will be kept secret onlee, only the necessary information will trickle out.
MFN status review moved to next week

During the goatnapping of OBL, there was a pic circulated of obummer and shillary along with the command center staring intently at the screen. Can the IA release the same of Modi and the members looking at the live feed of turning pigs into fertilizer ?

Very keenly waiting for a response from Saudi Barbaria and lizard. I expect the lizards to ratchet up the tension just to placate the goat herders. What about camel humpers ? Empty words, emptier oil barrels ?
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
'Strategic Affairs of Upper Volta' ....Blistering barnacles. Well, with China engaging Africa in a big way, this might actually be an area of research worthy of .....the said worthy.
Some reports mention infiltration via helicopters, but a chopper at the dead of night will be heard a mile or two away and any surprise will be gone well before the soldiers arrive. I doubt infiltration would involve helicopters, though the return trip could very well be. And the other thought ...they would need to attack all 7 camps pretty much simultaneously to the minute/second, otherwise these camps would alert other camps. But looks like all were caught by surprise.
P.S: Some parts of state of Punjab is on alert. Civilians within 10 km of border have been evacuated.

Probably they did not want to show the ops because of probable or potential quislings in our own parliament or at the worst some foolish person who may spill over some sensitive information for a sound byte. Just like the AAP fellow showed some recording in parliament these guys may do something stupid with privileged and sensitive information despite taking an oath willfully or or inanely. You never know which person is a Manchurian candidate amongst some parties especially when it comes to those funded from outside.
Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
the ET has huge articles front page and inside (3 pages total), supportive of the Govt. each article has pictures of medical instruments like scalpels...to explain the surgical strike idea or people are following bennedosa

Re: Army strikes terror camps in PoK
Looking at the map, it seems camps along the a large stretch of LoC were targeted, from close to the IB to all the way upto where Gilgit region begins.
This across the board hammer, must have required some planning and coordination. I think the preparations for such an operation may have been started after Pathankot itself.
