DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:15 P.M.) - Radical Saudi cleric, Sheikh 'Abdullah Muhaysni, told a TV reporter this week that Turkey must intervene in Syria to defeat the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and government.
"How long will Turkey and its people allow the regime's oppression to continue?" the radical cleric said in the interview.
Muhaysni believes its Turkey's Islamic duty to defeat the Syrian government, despite his past promises of defeating the Syrian Arab Army with jihadist rebels.
"Why doesn't Turkey use its powerful army against the Syrian regime; it is their duty," Muhaysni added

German court cites Turkey's support for terrorism in Kurdish militant case
A German court has taken into account Turkey's persecution of Kurds and support for the so-called 'Islamic State' (IS) and al-Qaeda in a case against a PKK member. The court opinion is sure to rile Turkey.
Re: Levant crisis - III
Aleppo is a city. Idlib is a state..a far bigger problem.
Imo it will be a 12 month project
Phase1...hezbollah and allies attack sw from aleppo to hit the jihadi silk road to saraqib....saa nd ypg jointly attack west aleppo areas like haritan anadan etc.
Once this swamp is drained...
Phase2....put pressure on jisr al shugour from latakia side...this will need lot of arty and airpower being in mountains...
Phase3....convention combined arms attack on two axes...repub guard from western aleppo/khanasser road end and new 5th corps plus any freed up ghouta units from due south north hama axis....
It will be a vast effort and need all hands on deck.
Might be coordinated with pmu moving into eastern syria to relieve deir azzor

If and when sdf launches a proper attack on raqqa,
Saa would take advantage to capture the al safira plains centered on deir hafr
Saa would enlarge the buffer zone around deir azzor
Then await the entry of pmu from al qaim on border

Syrian government forces have retaken a second rebel-held district in eastern Aleppo, the military says.
It said the army and its allies had "fully recaptured" Jabal Badro.
Hours earlier, rebel sources confirmed that neighbouring Hanano district had fallen and was now under government control.

The northern pocket might be abandoned by jihadis before the door closes in a day or two. Will take another week to clear ied, remove explosives, restore broken basic infra and move people to temp camps on govt side...
Will be a real morale breaker for the jihad if so

I wonder.. once Aleppo and Mosul are cleared, then isn't it better to move to solve the parking problem in Raqqa? With Mosul, Aleppo and Raqqa parking problems are solved, why would sh1ts in Idlib continue to fight? To await rescue by Lashkar-e-Erdogan? Sooner or later someone has to deal with the Ottoman armies. Maybe this is why Egypt has joined the fray?
Re: Levant crisis - III
Idlib is a existential threat to Assad if it blooms into another raqqaish emirate...right next to his soft heartlands. from idlib , Latakia and aleppo can be attacked again and again. its a cesspool and haven of nusra and shams front and all surrendered enclaves are sending their leftover dregs there via the famous green buses too. its a cancer that erdogan can add pus and salt into if allowed to exist. come night after day, he will double cross whatever promises of good boy behaviour he has indicated to russia when time is ripe. and the jidahis can go feral any day even if turkey says no.
Raqqa is not a existential threat to assad and nor are the arab tribes in that region greatly pro- or anti- assad...they will work with all reasonable parties.

Re: Levant crisis - III
egypt if it commits manpower would likely secure damascus region as a garrison and free up most of the SAA there to move into a active role in the war.
Idlib is not going to be a picnic. nusra and al-shams are not going to go away or go down easy. they have nowhere left to go except sit in the buffer zone euphrates shield and draw a meager salary and compete with lower cost outsourced labour from TSP and elsewhere who go there on T1b visa and apply for "green" card

YPG yellows must be warming up the barbeques on the fire to go after the leftover dregs once the door closes. they have endured years of hell cannons without the ability to retaliate much.

The fall of Aleppo will be a devastating defeat for the old guard of the US establishment as Trump gave Putin the green light to exterminate ISIS.It will also be a crushing defeat for the camel dung stinking Soothis of Barbaria, the neo-Ottoman Sultan and the Gulfie Sheikhs who must be feeling rather shaky right now. This would also be a great victory for the Iranians and their legendary general.

For top Iraqi commander, Mosul offensive is personal battle http://www.reuters.com/article/us-midea ... SKBN13M02R
“My relatives and citizens suffered a lot from al Qaeda and ISIS. I decided to return back here. In Mosul, ISIS killed a lot from my tribe and from my friends,” he told Reuters in an interview.
Even if Islamic State is defeated in Mosul, Iraqi leaders must ensure that the same ethnic and sectarian hostilities which helped Islamic State establish a widespread presence in the country do not creep up again.
The group initially won over Sunni supporters because that sect felt marginalized by the Shi'ite-led government in Baghdad.
Jubbouri called for an end to a governing system which allocates top posts based on sects.
“It won’t be rosy. Many difficulties,” he said. “Some politicians will not like to change because many of them would lose their positions.”

Turkey playing strange double game
On Sunday, the Turkish army said 22 pro-Ankara Syrian rebels were hit by a chemical gas attack from Islamic State fighters in northern Syria.
The Turkish army is backing the Syrian fighters in an unprecedented cross-border operation it says is targeting both Isis and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia, which it considers to be a terrorist group.
The YPG is a key component of a US-backed Arab-Kurdish alliance that is fighting to oust Isis from its de facto Syria capital of Raqa, after the jihadi group overran large parts of Syria and Iraq in 2014.
Syria’s war has killed more than 300,000 people and displaced more than half the population.
