The US has admitted carrying out an attack in eastern Syria that killed dozens of Syrian forces fighting so-called Islamic State (IS).
The US-led coalition said the "mistake" on 17 September was intended to target IS positions.
Coalition aircraft from the UK, US, Denmark and Australia were involved in the attack near Deir al-Zour.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has maintained that the deadly airstrikes were intentional.
The attack, which the Russian army says killed at least 62 Syrian troops, were halted when Russia informed the US it was hitting Syrian forces.
"In this instance, we did not rise to the high standard we hold ourselves to, and we must do better than this," said US Lieutenant-General Jeff Harrigian.
A spokesman for US Central Command (Centcom), the wing of the American military in charge of all its Middle East forces, said the mistake was "regrettable", adding that it was not the intent to target Syrian troops.

A healthcare worker said militants had forcibly taken over an office at the clinic and that several had been there at the time of the attack, along with about 50 patients.

Islamic State militants in Mosul have reportedly been killing civilians for not co-operating as the battle for control of the Iraqi city intensifies.
The UN says 12 civilians were shot dead on 11 November when they tried to stop militants launching rockets from the roofs of the homes in the Bakir area.
Militants allegedly killed 27 others suspected of passing information to Iraqi security forces.

West was directly supporting terrorism there supporting and backing ISIS with funds and money and even airpower

China did send arms to Syrian government and vetoed any Syrian government resolutiom, Indian MHA expressed support to Assad government.

At BRICS summit they came to agreement that once Allepo is liberated BRICS will send idli and blanket

As part of the sourcing process, samples were sent for lab testing where rigorous quality checks were carried out. The consignment – duly sealed by the ICRC – was then shipped to Syria and distributed among the tens and thousands of people in need. Aleppo had been surrounded but UN was delivering aid ie food meds etc and also paying the rebels to keep the water supply running to govt run parts and in exchange maybe govt kept power and telecom running. How else would the besieged enclaves get anything to eat at all.

The repub guard is on verge of forcing capitulation of the whole east ghouta pita pocket..for years a threat to damascus being right next door. 42 busloads are outbound or soon to be.....rest will surrender soon. Most are locals but they refused to reconcile and get amnesty..so went with small arms and family to try luck in idlib and points beyond.

This will free up maybe 2 brigades of repub guards for the next phase of war whether palmyra or hama.a lot of armour and dozers too

Is would-be Sultan Erdogan trying to emulate another failed dictator,one Il Duce? Il Duce jumped into the WW2 fray after Hitler's stunning defeats trying to acquire real estate on the cheap,but bit off more than he could chew and had to have the Krauts bailing him out.

If he is genuinely serious about trying to oust Assad he will come up against Putin's forces. It could be another episode in the "Death Wish" series!

haftar is said to be the "good guy" as much as can be said in the libyan mess. iirc egypt is behind him. GCC is behind another faction and the ISIS as usual are there as well. the touba and touareg tribes rule the desert and the berbers rule the atlas mountains.

everyone is armed and ready to fight. the "official" govt oddly enough seems to rule from benghazi rather than tripoli.

Russia should ask Haftar for a naval and airbase in his region to fight terrorism and send trainers to guide his army. if 2-bit players like UK/France can be sending spies and soldiers in and out of libya backing their horses, why not russia.

I read somewhere the liwa al quds while taking the "youth housing" or "handarat camp" tracked down and butchered some of the killers in that group, but the main one the fat one was not there. he will be a marked man unless he is already dead.
