A take on the situation in Syria and implications
He has maintained a very strict secular line consistently, which is one of the reasons why the army (majority Sunni) stayed loyal despite inducements, and why he has Christians and other sects fighting on his side.
Good guys? Bashar Al Assad and Vladimir Putin? Yes. In the Syrian theatre, these are the good guys. The democracies of Europe and the Obama administration lost the plot completely, after themselves initially plotting to overthrow the regime of Assad. They surrendered the moral high ground long ago in Syria, and did so to the very same groups they were bombing and droning in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.

India needs to improve indigenization and develop as much composite national power as possible on all fronts. nobody is our permanent friend.

That is the absolute key to everything singha, well said.

also maybe Russia doesn't want to humilitate it's European counterparts, because they may have to work closely in future.

but if this is true a lot of Russia fans would be deeply disappointed for sure.

Nice analysis JEM saar,
But truly independent elections in Syria will inevitably throw up an Islamist regime.Muslim brotherhood's win in Egypt is a good example.
To keep a semblance of stability in any Arab nation the proven way is through a religiously "secular" yet "tribal" dictator equally oppressive on all the plebeians or equally benevolent.
Although thats a truth not suited for printing.

Seems like Security at the exhibition center was not so great where a gun man can just enter and kill the ambassador

I see many on twitter compare this to 1914, but there is little incentive for any of the parties to go to war or escalate now. Well, of course there will be more airstrikes on these Nusra people, but the Russians are finding out the meaning of the phrase 'Non State Actor" now.

he is a policeman. More details to follow, if he was stationed on duty or not. But for sure police is infiltrated by radicals and mixed with sunni crowd is is how they could overcome military coup

CNN is justifying the killing by comparing to the atrocities of Russia and Iran in Allepo and how millions of muslims in the world are offended by it.

The radicalisation of turkish people will be under focus now. Till now, Turkey was secular and only Erdogan was Islamist. Islamist Erdogan has been winning because Turkish population is also radicalised to a large extent.

Not unlike Mumtaz Qadri, now if the lawyers start cheering him when he is brought to court will be interesting to watch.

obama threatens russia
US President Barack Obama has warned that his government “will take action” against Russia for cyber attacks during the November 8 elections for allegedly interfering with the results.

“I think there is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections…we need to take action, Obama said during an interview, Efe news reported on Friday.

“And we will – at a time and place of our own choosing. Some of it may be explicit and publicised; some of it may not be,” he added.
Man that sure was fast. If americans actually orchestrated it.

So I guess you agree that the Americans orchestrated this? Otherwise what would be the point of Putin saying anything?

Murdering diplomats is a slippery slope. I presume American diplomats don't want to find themselves facing bulgarian umbrella tips in the near future. Wonder how you will react when it is an American diplomat on the receiving end. Somehow I doubt your reaction was to make stupid jokes when the American ambassador to Libya was killed after bringing piss and democracy to Libya.

For the umpteenth time,
Everyone who does not buy the `roos so good` and `Putin so macho` theory does not necessarily become an America supporter. What one finds stupid is rather relative. My comment was a reply to something that I found rather stupid as I do your post too.
Like many many roos lovers here on this thread, You seem bheri sensitive too.
Trying to insinuate American hand behind a murder committed some hours ago without proof or logic is not just stupid. Its boorish.

This is hilarious. You don't become an America supporter just by not falling for "roos is good" or whatever. But in the same post you call me a "roos lover" because.... I called you out for making jokes about the Russian ambassador's murder. I don't buy the "putin is a macho mastermind" rhetoric either. But you seem to think anyone on this thread who doesn't agree with you is a "roos lover". Practice what you preach sir!

Now revealed: Russian Ambassador died of heart failure induced by Putin's KGB assasins putting something in his Stolichnaya. Also they hacked his PaceMaker. Policeman with gun nearby was calling for help. From Al*** of course.
