KARACHI: The federal government had issued at least 13 permits to foreigners to hunt the migratory houbara bustard in the province during hunting season 2016/17, said Sindh Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nisar Khuhro on Tuesday. He was responding to legislators’ queries during Question Hour that pertained to the wildlife department in Sindh Assembly’s session that was chaired by Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza. Neither Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who holds the portfolio of the wildlife department, nor any senior official of the department was present in the assembly to answer queries.
He said that the areas allocated by the federal government to foreigners, including Qatari nationals for houbara hunting in Sindh, included Jamshoro, Thatta, Jati, Malir, Dadu, Umerkot, Badin, Jungshahi, Matiari, Sukkur, Khairpur, etc. Replying to another of her questions as to why the houbara bustards were hunted, the minister said that one reason was that hunting was a sport and other was that probably the hunters considered that its meat had some proteins ( and also "serves as an "organic vgra" for the aged Sheikhs) and nutritious value.
Replying to a question as to why the number of migratory birds coming here was declining year by year, the minister said that it depended on climate change; if there was less harsh winter in their Siberian habitat less number of birds would migrate to come here. Just like tourist are shunning Pakistan, IMO, the birds have become "smart" and have starting boycotting the Land Of The Pure![]()

I now dread Ramzan. Not the fasting. That is the easy part. The very essence of the holy month – the fasting, the quiet charity, the introspection – has all but receded to the sidelines. Replaced by garrulous and crass talk shows, empty piety that is thrust at everyone’s face and a lack of consideration for fellow citizens. That is what I dread. It is everything that Ramzan is not meant to be. Forget Religion. Conspicuous consumption is here to stay .RamadhanRamazan or no Ramazan![]()
It is understandable that there would be some commercial aspect to a month that culminates in festivity. If the commercialism were restricted to Eid it would be perfectly acceptable. After all come Christmas time, the Western world does the same
Religion has been slowly and steadily become a part of our onscreen lives, growing beyond the parameters of Ramzan. It is omnipresent. Ironically, more so in advertising than in entertainment. Where is the PEMRA !!!
You have a brief for a consumer promotion? Easy. Send them on Umrah. You want to show a mother’s love? Put her on the prayer mat. Halal is a word traded freely. Show a worrying father? Place a tasbeeh in his hand. There are soap brands proudly sold using the halal label – despite the rather incredulous assumption that there would be a soap manufactured with pig-based ingredients in Pakistan. Islamic buzz words like "halal" and "umrah" sell like hotcakespuris !
A pop star built a retail empire on his new found Islamic credentials. Citing him as an inspiration, a popular news anchor launched a natural beauty care line featuring a hijabi model and a brand built on ‘purity’. Another news anchor did an ‘exposé’ of all the ‘haraam’ products sold to pious Muslims in Pakistan. The ratings rose. The issue was raised in the National Assembly by a minor government official from a completely unrelated ministry and later covered by a respected newspaper. Said products are still widely available. Either there was nothing questionable about the products or the objective had nothing to do with service and everything to do with sensationalism. As long as the Aam Abduls are "drugged" on Malsi, the Mullah Brigade is happy. And as a added bonus, the retail sellers are happy that Malsi ( instead of sex) is being used to promote their goods and services![]()

The number of brands forbidding the use of the human element in advertising is growing. Clothing, shoes, paints, food. Although the food brand that started this trend has now embraced human elements wholeheartedly, rumour has it that a fatwa from an influential local seminary was sought and given on the condition that only non-Muslim talent could be used. How that fatwa was applied to the testimonials on digital, it is not known. Perhaps an argument in favour of journalism and reportage was used. Not sure what he is trying to convey ? Likely, that some "monies" were given to the Mullahs, who in turn did not object that non-muslims were used as advertising models to promote a food brand ! As human representation is HARAM in Malsi !
Postscript: The latest in pseudo-religious communication is a service launched by Careem. A ‘halal’ way of courtship via the presence of a rishta aunty. It could have very easily been a rishta service without the halal label. But if religion sells, then why not use it to sell a taxi ride.![]()
RAWALPINDI: A Railway police official was arrested after a female Chinese tourist alleged he tried to rape her when she visited Rawalpindi Railway Station on Tuesday, the police said. Pakistan's former military dictator Gen Pervez Musharraf says he mulled the use of nuclear weapons against India amid tensions following the 2001 terror attack on the Indian Parliament, but decided against doing so out of fear of retaliation, according to a media report.
Musharraf, 73, also recalled that he had many sleepless nights, asking himself whether he would or could deploy nuclear weapons, the Japanese daily 'Mainichi Shimbun' said.
The former president disclosed that amid tensions between India and Pakistan following the 2001 terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament, he contemplated the use of nuclear weapons, but decided against doing so out of fear of retaliation.
When tensions were high in 2002, there was a "danger when (the) nuclear threshold could have been crossed," the paper quoted Musharraf as saying.
At the time, Musharraf had publicly said that he would not rule out the possibility of using nuclear weapons.
Musharraf also said, however, that at the time, neither India nor Pakistan had nuclear warheads on their missiles, so it would have taken one to two days to make them launch-ready.
Asked whether he had ordered that missiles be equipped with nuclear warheads and put into firing position, he said, "We didn't do that and we don't think India also did that, thank God"- pointing, perhaps, to a fear of retaliation, the paper reported.
Stepping up its activity in India, Al-Qaeda has formally announced establishment of a new Kashmir-based terror group—Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
The group will be led by the former Hizb-ul Mujahedeen commander, and one of Burhan Wani's successors, Zakir Musa.
The "statement of establishment" was disseminated today on social media by the Global Islamic Media Front, the online propaganda distribution arm of Al-Qaeda.
"After the martyrdom of heroic Mujahid Burhan Wani the Jihad in Kashmir has entered a stage of awakening, as the Muslim Nation of Kashmir has committed to carry the flag of Jihad to repel the aggression of tyrant Indian invaders, and through Jihad, and with the aid of Allah only, we will liberate our homeland Kashmir," it said ..
"For this goal, a new movement of Jihad has been founded by the companions of martyr Burhan Wani under the leadership of Mujahid Zakir Musa," the statement said.
Musa quit Hizb-ul Mujahedeen in May this year, after the group refused to back his audio clip, warning the separatist leaders not to term the Kashmir issue “political” and not religious.
Since then, the 23-year-old jihadi has reportedly owed support to Al-Qaeda.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), six out of 10 Pakistanis are food-insecure. Every government in Pakistan has made plans to reduce food insecurity in the country.
CheersThe incumbent government’s plan has been outlined in the Vision 2025. Within this policy framework, the goal is to reduce Pakistan’s food insecurity from 60 percent to 30 percent by 2025, taking the country a step closer to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of eliminating all hunger and malnourishment from the world by 2030. The question is: how strong are these policy goals and what is lacking in them?
KARACHI:
A nephew of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) founder Altaf Hussain was reportedly arrested in Karachi by law enforcement agencies.
The MQM-L has claimed that 52-year-old Abdul Aziz Ansari alias Chand Bhai was arrested on Tuesday while Hussain’s cousin, Khalid Hussain, who was earlier arrested during a raid in Karachi on July 19 remained missing. In a statement issued by the MQM-London coordination committee, the committee condemned the arrest of Ansari, saying that he is an employee of the District Municipal Corporation, East. This is one of the intimidating tactics employed by the Deep State to "get their man". Either the nephew and the cousin will be coerced to make some "negative" statements about Altaf !
“As soon as he sat in his car after leaving his office on Tuesday, plainclothes personnel took him away with them in a SUV,” according to the statement. “The plainclothes personnel of spy agency also covered their faces with masks.” To avoid being identified by Altaf's goons.![]()
It further read that Ansari has no link with the politics but has been arrested twice.
The statement further said that the whereabouts of Khalid Hussain, who was picked up from North Nazimabad, remained untraceable. Someone should move the courts to identify the culprits !
400% true. Also one other aspect that is not reported is that Mushy might also have the fear of what if the green painted North Korean mijjiles go dud and Indians cross the border and do what Amir khan threatened to do.Bart S wrote:^ This freudian slip on his part is instructive of the Paki mindset. They didn't use nukes, not because of the sheer horrors of using WMD, the catastrophic human cost, or a sense of responsibility and fair play, but because of fear of retaliation.
India would never nuke Porkistan even if they didn't have WMD but if the situation was reversed and they had nukes and we didn't they would literally be trying to conquer and rule over us.
