Paki Senate Asks Paki Military To "Butt Out" Of Commercial Business

Senate wants military’s role in commercial activities cut
ISLAMABAD: A day before Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa is to brief senators on issues linked to national security and his recent foreign visits as part of his military diplomacy, the Senate on Monday called for curtailing military’s role in commercial and business activities to confine it to defence production and allied matters. The timing of the "debate" is interesting. The toothless Paki Senate is "flexing its muscles" these days . Asking "tough" questions about CPEC, and the so-called "Terms Of Reference" for Muslim NATO, where Raheel has been "renting" himself out to the Saudi side. Do they want to be seen as powerful as their namesake in Massaland
Discussing a motion moved by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Senator Mohsin Aziz, Pakistan Peoples Party’s Farhatullah Babar sought a gradual and planned shift of businesses and commercial activities from the military to the private sector to provide a level playing field to investors and make indigenous industry viable. The "toothless" Paki Senate seems to be a good "training ground" for some juicy debates on various topics - the end result of these discussion is a foregone conclusion 100% of the time !
Referring to a recent disclosure made in the house that there were more than 50 Milbus (military in business) enterprises in the country ranging from cement, fertiliser and sugar production to banking and real estate among others, he lamented that answers to critical questions like contracts being awarded without bids and loans written off to military organisations were not available. Usurping farmers' land to build "Defense Housing Societies" under the excuse of land needed for "martyrs of War On Terror " and the "Management (ie subcontracting )Of Bakhr Eid Cattle Market" do not appear to be on this list
He said contracts for toll collection involving tens of millions of rupees a day were awarded to the Frontier Works Organisation without bids. The National Logistics Cell got away neatly when a bridge built by it in Karachi collapsed the day it was to be inaugurated by then military ruler retired Gen Pervez Musharraf, he added. Not to forget the export of heroin to self finance the Taliban and self finance the Islami Nuclear Bum
The house adopted a resolution recommending to the government to call upon the US for payment of compensation on account of lives lost and damage done to the lives and properties of innocent citizens of Pakistan as a result of drone strikes in the country since 2000.The resolution moved by Senator Javed Abbasi of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz urged the authorities to send copies of the resolution to the UN General Assembly, Nato, European Union, and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Asia) member states in order to highlight impact of drone attacks on the social, economic and psychological conditions of the victims. Pakistan should formally recognize the 100 Billion US Dollar loss from the "US War On Terror " in their books as Amount Due from US and file a case in the ICJ . This is one way of "cooking the books" and solving their liquidity problem- The Sialkoti School Of Bookkeeping and Accounting !

Maryam Sharif Decides To Open A "Branch Office " Of The Family Business - In Rahim Yar Khan :D

Raheel Muneer, son in law of Maryam Nawaz to be brought in politics
ISLAMABAD – Maryam Nawaz has decided to field her son-in-law Raheel Munir in the arena of politics . According to media reports, Maryam will visit Rahim Yar Khan in the last week of this month to address a rally and she will also announce the participation of her son-in-law in the politics . The son-in-law's father is from a prominent business family, based in Rahim Yar Khan, so from a strictly marketing (of the candidate!) point of view, it is a smart political move by Maryam
Sources said Maryam Nawaz wished that her son-in-law should take part in the general elections of 2018.
One political commentator had the following to say about the "future PM of Pakistan"
Just saw on tv, looks like Nawaz damad just entered politics as expected. Chaudhry Raheel Munir, son of industrialist Chaudhry Munir from Rahim Yar Khan. This is getting ridiculous now, looks like Sharif family have rishtedari all over punjab political and rich families. Taking advantage of Raheel name, the banners in RYK look just like Raheel Sharif banners and same tag line as well lmao
"Chaudhry Raheel Munir ko lana hai, N league ko bachana hai"

No wonder that Maryam has drawn the attention of the NYT !!!

CPEC Long Term Plan Complete Document - Looks More Like A "Surrender Sovereignty" Document

The 36 Page Document covers aspects of industrial and agricultural developments and the increasing role of Chinese institutions in making Pakistan another version of China . IMO, the culture shock to the Islami Pakis on the Hans Chinese invasion of their land has not been covered by the said document . Interesting time ahead as their sover-virginity will surely be eroded day by day, some sense of alienation/ friction between the Islami Abduls and the atheistic Chinese is bound to occur

for many months I was searching if there is a link between the hyderabadi nizams and mughals in dehli and their subordinate rulers of lahore, when I stumbled upon this link. mir mannu aka Muin ul mulk is none other than the son of nizam ul mulk asaf jah 1 aka wazir qamruddin khan aka chin qilich khan the first nizam of deccan.

this wazir qamruddin aka chin qilich khan who is mir mannu's father was as his name suggests the chief wazir in then dehli mughal emperors court and the chief counter revolutionary to the syed brothers attempt to Indianize mughal court and free it of foreign (read turk-iranian) influence.

It took the efforts of maratha and sikh generals combined to chase away this group away from punjab back into their deccan holdouts. Ideally they should have been chased out of the country.

Pakistan Army Chief extends support to Hafiz Saeed, says JuD Chief can ‘take up Kashmir issue’
Pakistan Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday said that Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief and the Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed can play an ‘active role’ to resolve the Kashmir conflict, as every other citizen of Pakistan, reports ANI.
“Like every other Pakistani, Saeed can also take up the Kashmir cause.”
His statement comes days after former Pakistan President and military dictator Pervez Musharraf called LeT and JuD ‘patriotic’and expressed his willingness to forge an alliance with them for the “safety and security” of Pakistan.

YUAN PROPOSAL PUZZLES FINANCIAL CIRCLES
THE recent announcement by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal that all trade between China and Pakistan will now be settled in local currency, whether the Pakistani rupee or Chinese yuan, has raised some interesting questions.
A swap arrangement between China and Pakistan was signed on Dec 31, 2011.
The size of the swap was 10 billion yuan from the Chinese side, and Rs140 billion from Pakistan ($1.6bn).
Amongst those asking this question is Salim Raza, former governor of the State Bank. “I’m puzzled by the announcement,” he says. “It is not clear what exactly is being asked by the Chinese here, perhaps they’re just urging us to start using the swap arrangement, or perhaps they have asked for more” than just settlement of bilateral trade in local currency.
“If this is to extend beyond trade-related payments,” says Mr Raza, “then we have to be mindful. If it extends to commercial banking, or payment for services in the local market, then it runs the risk of introducing a parallel currency.

This just in....

Pakistan knows how to protect its sovereignty: FO
...also hunnar and dignatee.
Pakistan was quick to completely reject the recently announced US National Security Strategy 2017, saying it should not be forgotten that as a country of over 200 million people with strong and robust democratic institutions and highly professional and committed security forces, Pakistan knew well how to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interest determined by the people of Pakistan themselves.
According to the First Post, the new Trump policy has glowing references to India while “nearly-damning” ones to Pakistan.
“As a responsible nuclear state, Pakistan has put in place, a highly efficient, robust and centralized command and control mechanism to secure its nuclear assets. The safety and security standards of Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal are second to no other nuclear state.”
the Al- Qaeda core was decimated from the region.
“Thanks to these comprehensive operations, today Pakistan is a more stable, peaceful and secure country. The success against the menace of terrorism, however, has come at a tremendous cost of blood and treasure, courageously braced by the people of Pakistan”, says the Foreign Office.
Does this qualify as a "muh tod jawab"? I am shocked that the pakis did not ask for payments in return for their sacrifices.

UK Based Muslim Bengali Boy Beaten Up. Told Not To "Mess Around" With Paki Girl

Bengali student, 16, was told 'don't mess with our blood' as he was given a savage 'honour' beating by a group of Pakistani men for dating a girl from their family
A 16-year-old schoolboy was subjected to a savage 'honour' beating by a group of Pakistani men after they found out he was secretly dating a girl from their family, a court heard. The Bengali student was taken prisoner and escorted to a cul-de-sac where he was repeatedly kicked about the head, battered with weapons and told: 'Don't mess with our blood - find someone your own kind.' Then, the Pakis wonder why the Bengalis did not want to remain in "Pakistan"
Mr Flanagan added: 'The boy is of Bengali heritage and all of the defendants are of Pakistani heritage and are all related to the girl in some way. The ethnicity of the boy is the background motive for the attack. Comments were made saying "don't mess with our blood" and "find your own kind". Both the boy and the girl were still at school and met at school and they were both young.'The fact that the girl was in a relationship may have been a motive or added motive. There are honour overtones to this incident.'

Pakistan To Be Named And Shamed By Sushma-ji :D

India to raise forced conversion of Sikhs in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa with Pakistan authorities
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has promised to take up issue of forced conversion of Sikhs in Pakistan with the competent authorities.
On Tuesday the minister tweeted: "We will take this up at the highest level with Government of Pakistan. Sikh community in Hangu being forced to convert."Swaraj expressed concern at the alleged forced conversions of Sikhs living in the Hangu district of Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.Hope that this action does not create some sort of further backlash against the Sikhs! Imran Khan also should also be "made aware" of this situation as he professes that minorities have full rights in Pakistan

How To "Massage" Imran Khan's Big Ego

Jemima to visit Pakistan in 2018
LAHORE: The former wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, Jemima, will visit Pakistan in 2018 as she has accepted famous singer Salman Ahmad’s invitation. Talking to a private TV channel, Salman said that Jemima had told him that she will definitely come to Pakistan next year. The musician said that he himself will plan her tour. Salman Ahmad shared that his wife Samina Ahmad is Jemima’s friend and the couple is very excited to host her as she helped Imran Khan in providing the money trail. He also informed the media about his plans of arranging an event to celebrate Khan’s victory in the apex court upon Jemima’s arrival.Awami Muslim League (AML) chairman Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed had earlier expressed his wish to bring Jemima to Pakistan. Imran and Jemima’s sons, Sulaiman and Kasim, are also in Pakistan these days to spend time with their father.
Not sure from the above, whether it is going to be a "campaign like visit" or a post -election victory visit, followed by tying up the knot again

Massa Expresses Concern Over Mainstreaming Of Hafiz- Suar

US concerned over Hafiz Saeed’s foray into electoral politics
WASHINGTON – The United States has expressed its concerns about Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed running for office in Pakistan in 2018, a senior Trump Administration official said on Tuesday.Briefing the press, State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert reiterated that US considered Hafiz Saaed, a mastermind of Mumbai attacks
“A man who is affiliated with LeT, Lashkar-e Tayyiba, one of the terror groups. It’s a group that the United States Government considers to be a terror organization” she said while referring to LeT and JuD.The official detailed that the Trump administration was in contact with Islamabad regarding the release of Saeed.“I want to remind folks we have a $10 million Reward for Justice program that would reward for information that would bring him to justice. So I want to make that clear so that everybody knows, $10 million out for this guy, and we would certainly have concerns about him running for office” Nauert said in strongly worded remarks. Pakistan has "thumped its nose" against US many many times. So it makes no difference this time as well !
“I can tell you that his organization – his organization that was responsible for those attacks – is considered a foreign terror organization. It’s considered a foreign terror organization by the U.S. Government for a reason and for a good reason. I would imagine that if we had any intelligence, we would certainly share it with the Pakistanis on that front” Nauert added. :((
The Lahore High Court ordered in November to release the JuD chief after which he announced contesting next general election through the platform of the Milli Muslim League (MML).

Imran Khan: A Purveyor Of Fake News

Imran found posting fake news twice
ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has been found twice posting fake news or giving a wrong twist to news through his Twitter handle within a week – first mischaracterising the survey of a local NGO about education ranking and second posting fake pictures of the belongings of an Indian actress. Message to Immy from Paki Press : Verify before you tweet or at least get your minions to do the same
Shashikala, a famous South Indian actress-turned politician in India’s Tamil Nadu died recently. Gold reserves, jewels & illegal money were found in her house! A message to all corrupt leaders: The hoarded billions stolen from our impoverished masses will be left behind,” Khan tweeted this along with the pictures showing reserves of gold and money.Minutes after his tweet, a local journalist tweeted and said pictures tweeted by Imran Khan of Indian actress Shashikala’s belongings found after her death were fake . He said these pictures were actually of two separate cases; one was of Mumbai bank robbery and the other of the IT department’s raid on the house of an Indian stock exchange broker. So, sensitising the situation, the PTI chief withdrew and deleted the tweet while PTI’s Central Media Department, through a statement, said “The Tweet is withdrawn. Kindly ignore it.” Immy and other Paki politicos are obsessed with Indian politics . They should pay attention to their own backyard !
Iftikhar Durrani, the head of PTI’s Central Media Department, said the PTI Chairman often used to compose his tweets himself. He added a senior female politician of the party ( sounds like Madame Jalebi  ) also used to write tweets on behalf of Khan for some time when the party chief was busy. He said most of the information used by Khan in his tweets is sent by the party’s media department after proper verification and filtration. He lamented the tweet about the belongings of the Indian actress was wrongly sent and withdrawn.

Dar Destined For The "Chopping Block"

Dar-dollar exchange rate
Honorary Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is in a bit of a fix these days. This is not counting his prolonged ailment, which the Islamabad High Court isn’t buying (how insensitive), or indeed the graft allegations which should at the very least put an end to his political career, if not to his life as a free citizen currently not the inhabitant of any prison. :D
No, Dar’s greatest predicament is the fact that the final nail in the coffin of his limited prowess in financial dealings is between the hammer and the anvil. That this won’t come as a surprise to anyone with a fleeting interest in economic policymaking in the country, especially those that might have been paying attention to taxation gaffes, underscores that the nail in question has been crying out for a whack for a long time. Over the last couple of years, the beauty of Dar-dollar exchange rate parity had won the finance minister brownie and donut points from every beholder that wore rose-tinted lenses. But considering that there was a fair amount of plastic surgery involved the romance had reached breaking point, and something had to give. As it turns out, all had to. Now the "whole house of cards" structure has come falling down and fingers are being pointed at this "fraudster" Finance Minister
First, Dar got embroiled in long overdue corruption cases, and then got sick... The Mush syndrome
Second, with chaos inside the finance ministry, which eventually came under Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s control, the hitherto policies enforced by the now on leave finance minister were reviewed. Among these was the artificial rupee valuation.
Third, with the State Bank of Pakistan finally withdrawing its support and the markets being allowed to determine the value, the rupee fell to an all-time low against the US dollar on Wednesday at Rs 110.52 — this included a 2.6% single day plunge as well.
While the noise from the ministry suggests that imports are being curtailed and exports, well, being looked into, and the fact that letting the market determine the exchange rate will help the current account deficit as well, it’s the Dar-dollar future that looks in jeopardy. But the question marks are two pronged, and the first has two sub-categories.
First, will Ishaq Dar remain the finance minister once his three month PM approved leave is over?.If yes, who owns the decision to let the rupee fall to something resembling its actual value? If not, will the PM remain the de facto finance minister, who in turn is being remote controlled by his party’s president? Second, if Dar goes as a result of a judicial, personal or party decision, who will be in charge of the rupee’s fate, which if markets are allowed to do their job should plummet another 5-6% before the next elections? Who takes the clutch decisions if an IMF bailout is needed in the lead up to what appear to be crunch elections? Hope that the Chinese are not stuck with the mess

Big Brother watching: China's 'thought police' surveils, strikes fear in Muslim minority

NEW DELHI: Thousands belonging to a minority Muslim community in China's Xinjiang province have allegedly been whisked off to and detained in state-owned "political indoctrination centers" as the government cracks down on growing "Islamic terrorism" in the country, the Associated Press (AP) said in a report.

Over the past year, mass disappearance of Uighur Muslims has instilled fear in the hearts of the marginalised ethnic community, which has been influenced by radical Islamic extremism, claims the government. Inhabited by 10 million Turkic speaking Uighurs, Xinjiang's Uighur Autonomous Region now resembles a police state, with foot patrols, armored vehicles and round-the-clock surveillance tracking their every move.

Under the pretext of rooting out terrorism, the Chinese government has adopted a "strike hard" campaign following a series of attacks in 2013 and 2014 carried out by Uighur separatists. The Communist party has banned fasting during Ramzan, forbidden Azaan in state-sanctioned mosques, prohibited long beards and Islamic headwear and restricted use of the Turkic language. Harsh punishments are imposed for refusing to watch state TV or radio programmes.

The government has also adopted sophisticated surveillance systems, including a biometric data collection program which collates "three-dimensional portraits, voiceprints, DNA and fingerprints", the AP report said.

"If we don't do this, it will be like several years ago — hundreds will die," propaganda official Bao Changhui told AP.

Earlier in April, the Human Rights Watch condemned the move to ban dozens of Muslim names like 'Saddam' and 'Jihad' on the grounds that they could "exaggerate religious fervour". Children with banned names will not have access to public schools and other social benefits.

The Communist Party has denied allegations of religious discrimination, instead pointing to decades of economic investment in Xinjiang and concerted efforts, such as preferential college admissions, to bring the Uighur population into the mainstream.

It is a well-documented fact that Uighur Muslims have been fighting alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan and also joined ISIS and al-Qaeda in Syria and Iraq. However, Beijing has not offered any concrete evidence of a foreign-directed terrorist organization working against the Chinese state that would warrant the crackdown on ethnic Uighurs in Xinjiang.

Even as it takes a hard-line stance on perceived Islamic extremism at home, China remains mostly aloof to reports of terrorist safe havens being nurtured by all-weather-ally Pakistan. Despite mounting pressure from the US, Islamabad has refused to step up its fight against terrorism and "allows terror groups like the Haqqani Network, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) to operate freely from its soil", the Trump administartion said in a censorious report in July.

After endorsing the Xiamen declaration at the BRICS Summit 2017, which expressed concern for the first time on several Pakistan-based terror groups, China quickly backpedaled and attested to Islamabad's "clear conscience" and "great sacrifices" in its counter-terror efforts.

China has repeatedly blocked India's move to designate JeM chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist at the UN Security Council and also opposed calls for sanctions against 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed. Hitting out at Beijing's double standards on combating terrorism, India had said such actions only undermined the international community's resolve to fight terror. Just as Terroristani trained Uighur Terrorists are Terrorizing Xinjiang, soon Hafiz "Suar" Saeed will have his Terroristani "Non State Actors" join the Uighur Terrorists Brigade.

This, in spite of concerns about terror groups in Pakistan that Chinese intelligence believes has links to East Turkestan Islamic Movement, an influential separatist group in Uighur culture that has been designated as a terror outfit by the US and Britain.

Meanwhile, Uighur Muslims continue to live in the shadow of fear in Xinjiang, under a government that all but views them as the enemy. Big Brother is watching.

World Bank approves $825m loan for Pakistan infrastructure

KARACHI: The World Bank has granted Pakistan a $825 million loan to upgrade the energy and public finance sectors in a country which has long struggled with chronic power shortages and poor fiscal management.

Just over half the loan, $425 million, would be used to modernise the national grid, the World Bank said on Wednesday.

The government has had some success in generating more electric power to ease a years-long energy crisis, but its distribution has been hampered by poor transmission.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said recently that 10,000 megawatts had been added to the national system, with another 10,000 megawatts available in the next two years.

"The improved power supply will help meet the unserved demand from consumers and reduce the number and duration of power outages," Illango Patchamutu, the country manager for the World Bank, said in a statement.

The remaining $400 million was allocated to improve the management of public finances and thus assist the delivery of much-needed health and education services.

Pakistan´s economy grew 5.3 percent in the fiscal year up to June 2017, and the government has set a growth target of around six percent for the current year.

However, economists are wary of Pakistan´s hefty fiscal deficit of around four percent of GDP.

A record trade deficit of $15 billion for the first four months of the current financial year has also caused jitters about a potential balance of payments crisis.

The value of the rupee has fallen by roughly five percent in recent weeks against US dollar.

South Punjab groom in a fix after showering people with US dollars, Riyals
Tax authorities have opened investigation after TV channels aired footage from a wedding in South Punjab where people were showered with US dollars and Saudi Riyals in a show of wealth.According to reports, Muhammad Arshad, a resident of Multan's Shujabad area, tied the knot three days ago.
They are also said to have distribited mobile phones among the guests.Locals told TV channels that the bride has four brothers each setteled in US and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia and USA are both cracking down on illegal immigrants . Hope this newly married couple family does not fall in that category !. A Paki Ayesha Pleads For "Banning" The Antiquated "Two Finger Test" For Determining Whether A Rape Has Occurred Or Not In Islamic Pakistan

It's time Pakistan banned the two-finger test for decoding consent in rape trials
Zainab Z. Malik
2017 will go down in history as the year mainstream discourse on sexual violence was finally forced to confront the universal impunity enjoyed by perpetrators of assault. Unfortunately, these global developments have failed to trigger any corresponding debate on the inability of Pakistan’s criminal justice system to provide redress to survivors. The Paki Nation is not swayed by global developments, unless Malsi is in danger, as the recent example of the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital
In a country where conviction rates for rape are less than 4% and the National Police Bureau records an average of over 3,000 reported cases every year, the need for gender-sensitive legal and policy reform has never been more critical. In Pakistan Sharia is supreme. In Sharia, women are not considered equal to men !
Key amongst the reasons underlying the limited impact of legislative developments in sexual assault is the central role played by gender stereotypes and biases in judicial proceedings in Pakistan. From the time of the registration of the complaint by the police to the sentencing of the perpetrator, whether or not the victim’s character is in line with what is deemed ‘chaste’ or ‘pure’ has a far greater bearing on the outcome of the case rather than the nature of the violation she has suffered. Pakistan is an Islamic nation. Sexual assaults rarely occurs here ! And if it does, the fault must live with the female !
Stereotypes pertaining to what is a ‘good woman’ remains the primary consideration for police, prosecutors and judges to decide whether or not a victim’s claim of rape deserves reliance. In many ways, the decision to come forward and report the crime is the first instance where the criminal justice system begins to view the victim with suspicion. It is presumed that a woman with honour would never bring shame upon herself by admitting that she had been raped. A ‘true victim’ in many ways is one that never comes forward. A change in the law is not going to make a difference . It is a question of society's attitudes and beliefs, which cannot be changed overnite !
Under the Pakistan Penal Code, Section 375, lack of consent on the part of the alleged victim is the primary ingredient for categorising an act of intercourse as rape.
Reported judgments are littered with references to a victim’s ‘loose morals’ and ‘easy virtue’ which are taken as irrefutable evidence that she consented to the alleged act and thereby rendering her testimony as false.
For instance, the Lahore High Court in Fahad Aziz v State (2008) disregarded the victim’s rape complaint as “she appeared to be a woman of easy virtue [and] indulged in sexual activities”.
Similarly in another decision by the Federal Shariat Court in 2006, the accused was acquitted of all rape charges as the “victim girl was of easy virtue and though she was unmarried and of 16 years, but had lost her virginity”.The determinative nature of the victim’s character to judicial decision making is reinforced by reliance on outdated ‘medical’ tests called two-finger rape tests.A relic of British India, the archaic test involves inserting two fingers into the vagina of the victim in order to determine whether or not she is “habituated to sexual intercourse”. The test is not a legal requirement but a medical practice that has become part of legal jurisprudence. In this day and age there are other medical tests available to determine a victim's rape complaint, rather than resorting to this kind of violation
It is thus little surprise that not only are convictions low, but victims themselves prefer to reach informal settlements with accused rather than put up with a trial.Legal and policy reform barring gender stereotypes pertaining to the character of the victims from legal proceedings on sexual assault is urgently needed.

Rumours Of "Green Passport " Being UnWelcomed In UAE Is Now Deemed "Fake News"

UAE rubbishes reports on suspension of visas to Pakistanis
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday denied rumours that it was suspending the issuance of visas to Pakistani applicants until the end of the year, Khaleej Times reported.
The rumours surfaced after a fake notice allegedly issued by the UAE General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) began making rounds on social media. Hope RAA is not involved in this prank
"The ministry and immigration of UAE has temporarily suspended issuance of UAE visa for Pakistanis. Those who already have visa can travel," the fake notice said. The notification sound very plausible :D
The officials claimed the restriction was a 'temporary arrangement' and that the service would resume with the beginning of 2018.The GDRFA, however, rubbished the reports saying that the "situation is normal"."Visitors from Pakistan are welcome to enter Dubai after obtaining a visa," the GDRFA told Khaleej Times. Pakistan and UAE are "great friends", if Paki media is to be believed . Mush, Dus Percenti and other prominent Pakis( like Veena Malik !) have either made it their second home or go there to "enjoy" a bit of UnIslamic R&R. Why would someone play such a cruel hoax on Pakistani citizens is hard to understand

Sign Of Further Chini-fication : China To Buy Petroleum Pump Facilities In Pakistan

PetroChina to buy petrol pumps, fuel facilities in Pakistan in one of the biggest expansion
BEIJING: PetroChina’s oil and gas trading arm aims to buy petrol stations and fuel storage facilities, setting up business in Pakistan, West Africa and Brazil in a major global expansion aimed at taking on international rivals, according to three senior oil industry executives briefed on the plans.
The ambitious drive at one of the world’s top oil merchants is taking shape eight months after Tian Jinghui, a vice-president at PetroChina, took over the reins at Chinaoil, PetroChina’s trading vehicle.Tian is a veteran of fuel marketing at PetroChina, a listed unit of State giant CNPC and Asia’s largest oil and gas producer, China Daily reported on Wednesday.
Li Li, energy research director at ICIS China, a consulting company providing energy market analysis, said the business expansion in Pakistan, West Africa and Brazil is in accordance with the country’s Belt and Road Initiative. The expansion is also aimed at tapping the transportation fuel market in those regions, where demand is growing faster than the global average, the executives said on condition of anonymity. Relevant question. Petro China is buying but who is selling . Is it existing petrol pump stations or are they building new one's ?
Young staff from PetroChina’s massive domestic marketing team were sent on a three-month English course earlier this year as candidates for potential new overseas postings, said two of the three people with knowledge of the plans. Of course, no need to be stated, but (like Wal-Mart) the daily, weekly sales proceeds are likely to be electronically transferred to Petro China Head Office. And of course, the staff , in keeping with China's long standing policy of hiring their own nationals, is going to be Chini nationals, so the benefit to the Paki economy is probably going to be negative rather than positive

Pakistan Finds Mention In Trump's Speech On New Security Strategy

Pakistan ‘obliged’ to help US, says Trump
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump, while unveiling his new national security strategy, reminded Pakistan that it’s obliged to help America because it receives “massive payments” from Washington every year.“We have made clear to Pakistan that while we desire continued partnership, we must see decisive action against terrorist groups operating on their territory. And we make massive payments every year to Pakistan. They have to help,” said the president while addressing his nation from the Ronald Reagan building in Washington. This was the only reference to Pakistan in his speech, although the 56-page document that he released deals with it in more details, urging Pakistan to “continue demonstrating that it is a responsible steward of its nuclear assets”. Pakistan, since its very inception has been a "freeloader" and a burden to US Taxpayers, so much so, that some analysts have concluded that US Aid, during the Reagan- Zia era was diverted to finance the Islamic Bomb and also to market the centrifuge technology to Iran , Libya and North Korea under Xerox Khan !
The policy paper also says that “the United States continues to face threats from transnational terrorists and militants operating from within Pakistan”.The new strategy, however, focuses more on the domestic front and identifies two “greatest transnational threats” to homeland security: Jihadist terrorists and international criminal organisations. [/b] Pakistan and Pakistan based organizations are members in good standing in both these organizations :D
And to prevent jihadists from entering the United States, it suggests tightening America’s immigration system by ending lottery visas and chain migration, which allows family members of a US citizen to settle in the country. IMO, Paki perfidy will continue , and they will continue to play their double -sided game . Not sure what POTUS can do , when Afghan supply routes are controlled by Pakistan

Maulana Diesel "Holds The Cards" On FATA Merger. :D

FATA reforms bill: PM, army chief fail to win over Fazl
The Express Tribune
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday apparently failed to convince Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief to support the proposed law on reforms in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and its merger with the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). The Maulana is opposed to FATA merger, as it will likely dilute his "political influence" if a merger takes place. KP province is ruled by Imran Khan. Maulana Diesel views Imran as a Western and Zionist agent .
This was the second consecutive meeting of the prime minister with JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman as the former also met Fazl on Monday night at the latter’s residence.
Sources confirmed that after the Monday meeting, which remained inconclusive, the PM was convinced that Fazl was not likely to budge from his stance. He had, therefore, decided to seek help of the army chief who was to visit parliament on Tuesday.
The army on different occasions has categorically supported implementation of Fata reforms. So, has Imran Khan !
Last week, the JUI-F had strongly opposed inclusion of the Fata reforms bill in the National Assembly agenda. This bill was later pulled off the agenda right before the start of the session last week – a development prompting opposition walkout, which is still continuing. In what was apparently an announcement of the lack of agreement in the meeting, the JUI-F chief later told the media outside parliament that further consultations on the bill would continue. The Maulana wants his party to have power in FATA ! He is considered by some to be the political godfather of the Taliban :D
Sources privy to the development told The Express Tribune that the COAS told Fazl to let the issue resolve amicably as every Pakistani wanted implementation of Fata reforms and its merger.Fazl, however, said he would be in a position to take a decision after consulting his party and Fata supreme council. “If the supreme council agrees to the merger then I will also endorse it,” he told Bajwa. When a reporter asked if the Fata Reforms Bill would see the light of day in the ongoing session, he replied: “I can’t say anything about the approval of bill in this session”. The NA speaker on Tuesday hinted at the inclusion of bill in the agenda for Wednesday [today]. Ganja and Fazl are political allies at the National and the KP Assembly . Against Imran Khan

Modi-ji Gets Tough On Visas To Pakistanis

Fewer visas to Pakistanis in 2017
India cut visas to Pakistan drastically in 2017, issuing 18,000 fewer visas than in 2016,while Pakistan issued at least 6,000 more visas than before, official figures said.

In a reply tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju said 34,445 visas for Pakistanis were issued in 2017 as against 52,525 in 2016. The reduced figures came despite several exceptional medical visas granted by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj after requests made to her on twitter.Pakistani High Commission officials told The Hindu that 45,519 Indians were issued visas by Pakistan till November this year, including 17,844 issued to Hindu, Sikh and Bohra pilgrims, and 573 business visas as compared to 39,321 in 2016.There was however a surge in the number of Indian visas for Bangladeshis. As many as 12.89 lakh visas were given to Bangladeshis this year in comparison to 9.33 lakh visas issued in 2016, Mr. Rijiju said in his reply to a written question.

Pakistan In Debt Trap :D

Pakistan is Under Rs 26 Trillion of Debt and Liabilities
Pakistan’s debts and liabilities continued to increase every month mainly due to the excessive heavy borrowing of the federal and provincial governments to meet their budgetary expenses and execute development projects, which is showing its overall burden after nearing Rs. 26 trillion.
According to the central bank, the overall debt and liabilities of the country which included external and domestic loans increased to Rs. 25.817 trillion by end of September 2017, after addition of Rs. 2.303 trillion in one year.
The external debts continued to retain its pressure on foreign exchange reserves which is gradually depleting due to the regular payment on the account of debt-servicing (interest) and loans. The debt-to-GDP ratio of the country stands at 72 percent when it comes to the value of GDP that reached Rs. 35.909 trillion by end of September 2017.It means more than 70 percent of the formal and documented economy is based on debts. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan’s economic system is largely undocumented because of the unbanked population and weak structure of government institutions.Previously, the debt-to-GDP ratio stood at 78.7% by end of June 2017. The debt-to-GDP ratio has been improving slowly despite surging loans mainly because of the increasing value of GDP on the back of constant surge in economic activities.

Pak army chief urges lawmakers to improve relations with India - Omer Farooq Khan, ToI
In an extraordinary gesture, Pakistan army chief, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, urged the country's lawmakers to try to improve relations with India, assuring them that their efforts would be fully backed by the Army. His address comes in the backdrop of sustained American emphasis to Pakistani leadership on mending ties with India.

"The military is ready to back political leadership's initiative for normalization of relations with India," Gen Bajwa told lawmakers at the senate committee of the whole House during his first appearance before a parliamentary forum on Tuesday.

Gen Bajwa was invited by senate chairman Raza Rabbani and was accompanied by Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Naveed Mukhtar. Top military officers, Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Major General Asim Munir. The session continued for nearly four-and-a-half hours.

Quoting senators, leading Pakistan daily Dawn said Gen Bajwa told legislators that he wants relations with all neighbours to be normalised and urged politicians to try to improve relations with India. He assured them that their efforts would be fully supported by the army. The army chief's offer was particularly significant given a general perception that the army was against peace efforts with India.

But Gen Bajwa said a large part of Indian military deployments was mostly against Pakistan. He also accused India of fomenting instability and terrorism in Pakistan, stating that New Delhi had developed a strong nexus with Afghan intelligence agency National Directorate of Security.
Before anyone is taken in by the supposed 'moderate enlightenment' of yet another Pakistani COAS, the last paragraph reveals that it is all a hogwash. These are pre-conditions that Bajwa and Paranoidistan are insisting, which of course cannot be met by India because we cannot alter troop deployments in current situation, we offer only moral support for the oppressed people of Pakistan and do not support terrorism in any form or manifestation and our relationship with Afghanistan is not directed at a third country.

So, Bajwa is placing conditions that he knows cannot be met by India only in order to escape American pressure. This reveals that the PA & ISI are unwilling to change any direction. And, why should they when they have the complete backing of China? Any normalization between India & Pakistan is a setback for China and why should China allow that?

Today, the Chinese have greater leverage over Pakistani Army and its dysfunctional civilian government than the US. Therefore, the US approach of linking India in its peace efforts in Afghanistan is a non-starter, apart from the rudimentary fact that India was never a cause for the troubles in Afghanistan except in the wild dreams of Pakistan manufactured paranoia.

OT: good neighbours work this way perhaps?
We have 6 or so weekly trains between India and Bangladesh; numerous buses and flights; more are being discussed. Bangladesh is the biggest source of foreign tourists to India, including medical tourism. They have a decent economy which is open to Indian capital, entrepreneurs and management. Just a few days ago the UN estimated that there are fewer Bangladeshis now in India than there used to be - presumably they returned on their own volition, which can happen only when their economy is in good shape, for which good cooperation with India is necessary. Then there is the geopolitical angle - the current regime is very India friendly, so it would be rather stupid on our part to do something to tick off the average Bangla.

Very true. Even if Bajwa is actually an enlightened person and speaking the truth as he sees it, the fact is that the army as an institution, including its errant child the ISI, is committed to a thousand year war against India. That is the reason for its existence. Bajwa will be gone tomorrow and the next guy may turn out to be another hardened jihadi; rather if Bajwa does anything demonstrable to mend fences with India he will be gone. Pakistan has an oversized army for its economy and geopolitical weight; and as long as that does not change - i.e. as long as Pak is an army with a country rather than the other way around - our well researched view of Pakistan should not change.

In my view this is just taqiyya, carefully stage managed - Bajwa must have himself leaked the proceedings in order to portray a moderate stance, which is essential to keep the aid coming.

FATA And Balochistan Are Compared To Guantanamo Bay Prison By Paki "Senator"

Guantanamo Bay like prisons operated in FATA, Balochistan: Farhatullah Babar
ISLAMABAD: Senator Farhatullah Babar said Tuesday that the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and parts of Balochistan have become black holes for detainees held by security agencies and honest answers must be given regarding the running of internment centres in these areas which have turned into Guantanamo Bay like prisons. He said this at an event organised by the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) at the International Islamic University Islamabad to commemorate the Human Rights Day. As the "senator" probably suspects, there is almost an civil war kind of situation prevailing in these two provinces
He said that in order to retain respect and support, the NCHR must be independent of the executive and should also be allowed to raise funds on its own. He also said that the FATA black hole was also linked to the state’s Afghan policy which must be revisited as part of the human rights agenda. Fencing the Durand Line and incorporating FATA into KP province,- which the locals are objecting to and the ensuing unrest which creates IDP, are all related issues
Human rights are threatened by succumbing to the rule of the mob as was witnessed in the recent Faizabad dharna, he said. The mainstreaming of the Islami parties in preparation for next year election :D
He stressed that the right to freedom of expression was the ‘fountain of all freedoms’ which had presently come under attack from the state and non-state actors alike. He also said that the ideology brigade had prevented free discussion on misapplication of faith related laws. The security brigade had also prevented free discussion in the name of what it called ‘national security’, he added. Academic discussions are well and fine . But implementation is out of the question

Pakistan’s diplomatic win as controversial ‘list of terrorists’ taken off HoA declaration: FO - Daily Times
A controversial list of terrorists has been taken off the recently held Heart of Asia (HoA) conference’s declaration, said the foreign office (FO) terming it as a “diplomatic win” for Pakistan.

During a weekly briefing on Thursday, FO Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Faisal said the controversial list {What is controversial with calling Hafeez Saeed, Masood Azhar et al as terrorists?}was incorporated in the declaration of HoA conference held last year in India, adding that Pakistan allowed the move out of “good will” but India used the list as a “propaganda tool” against Pakistan.

However, he said the list was taken off the declaration of the seventh ministerial HoA conference held in Azerbaijan earlier this month following Pakistan’s objections on the list.

Chinese engineer goes missing in Kahuta
A Chinese engineer went missing on Wednesday while working on a tunnel linked to a river for the Karot power project in Kahuta.
the police did not rule out the possibility of kidnapping as his mobile phone was switched off.
After his disappearance, the immigration authorities at Benazir Bhutto International Airport were alerted and according to their immigration record, the Chinese engineer has not left the country so far.
“The possibility of kidnapping or accident can’t be ruled out. However, scope of the search operation has been widened to the river and surrounding areas,” SSP Mohsin said.

Pakistani cricketers not stranded in Uganda: Saeed Ajmal
Jus' chillin'.
Pakistani cricketers are 'safe and happy' in Uganda
Pakistani contingent currently in the East African nation, where a Twenty20 league they were supposed to participate in was cancelled just a few matches into the tournament over a financial disagreement
promised half their pay in advance of the tournament
the promise was not upheld even after several matches had taken place
The problem arose when the cricketers on Wednesday attempted to board their return flights, only to be informed that their tickets — issued by the league's agents — had been blocked.
Ajmal, confirmed to DawnNews that they are not at all stranded in Uganda and have money to spend as well as the support of the Uganda Cricket Association
"We are all safe and happy. Chilling in East Africa"
all cricketers were comfortable in their hotel rooms
In other words, we are cold and restricted to our hotel rooms with no plane tickets.
