Why would the Rudra need more lift from wings? Not mocking - but just curious about your line of reasoning. In the LCH the lift, if any will be counteracted by stores on the wings that count as drag.JTull wrote:There must be good amount of lift from those wide wings on LCH. Have they considered these for Rudra?

Re: DefExpo 2018 Chennai
I remember my conversation Hari sir here on the stub wings. Sampath sir had given a talk at Aero India seminar saying that LCH initial stealth stub wings were being replaced by symmetric aerofoils to decrease drag. But, when the wings did come online, they did not look symmetric and Hari sir confirmed that they were not and contributed to lift.shiv wrote:Why would the Rudra need more lift from wings? The wings on LCH cannot be ported to Rudra. But can a wing or atleast a fairing be developed for the "rod" on Rudra. Obviously, yes. Everything is return on investment. I remember reading a Masters thesis from an HAL employee studying the drag on a tube moving through air. So, they must have ascertained, that it is not worth it. At least for the moment, they have bigger fish to fry.

Looking at all those beautiful pics I am going to send a message to MoD and IAF that all aircraft should be painted bright yellow, red and pale green so that they can be seen clearly in photos with sky as background.

For AI type air shows yes. One has to only look at Tiger meet liveries to see why.shiv wrote:Looking at all those beautiful pics I am going to send a message to MoD and IAF that all aircraft should be painted bright yellow, red and pale green so that they can be seen clearly in photos with sky as background.
Re: DefExpo 2018 Chennai
Thanks Indranil for the clarification.
Bhaijaan, both the aerofoil on LCH and that rod on Rudra are meant to carry stores. Question was precisely whether the optimised wing of LCH can be ported to Rudra to reduce any possible drag.shiv wrote:Why would the Rudra need more lift from wings?
