20 luxury cars recovered from former PML-N senator's warehouse

At least 20 luxury vehicles were recovered from a warehouse reportedly owned by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Saifur Rehman’s warehouse on Tuesday, reported Express News.

Sources in Customs said the vehicles were traced to a foreign consulate (Qatar ) and no paperwork was provided upon request. The vehicles were then impounded by authorities.

Rehman, speaking from Doha, ( Qatar ) claimed that “no illegal act has been committed and the place is being used for the storage of cars only”.

The cars have been in storage at the warehouse for four or five years, the former senator added.“The recovered cars belong to Qatar’s Sheikh Jasim bin Hamad, which have been brought for hunting in the desert and the clearance for which is received from the Foreign Office.” Rehman further clarified.

Pakistan Russia all set to make history in Moscow

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and Russia will sign a historic $10-billion offshore gas pipeline deal tomorrow (Wednesday) in Moscow.

After the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Asian countries, for which a delegation of Petroleum Division has been dispatched to the Russian capital, a feasibility study will be conducted by Russian energy giant Gazprom.

Inter State Gas Systems (ISGS) – a state-owned company of Pakistan established to handle gas import projects and is already working on gas pipeline schemes like Tapi, has been nominated by Pakistan to execute the offshore pipeline project along with Gazprom.

ISGS is also working on the $10-billion Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (Tapi) gas pipeline to connect South and Central Asia and construction work on the scheme in Pakistan will start in March next year.

The underwater pipeline will be completed in three to four years.Russia currently exports huge quantities of gas to Europe and Turkey. This project is an alternate for Russia in case those exports go cold. Despite the US sanctions, Russia has been a major exporter of energy to Europe.

Amid a long-running tussle with Europe and the United States over the annexation of Ukrainian region of Crimea, Russia is looking for alternative markets and wants to capitalise on the growing energy demand in South Asia.

Russia , which controls and manages huge gas reserves in energy-rich Iran, plans to export gas by laying an offshore pipeline through Gwadar Port to Pakistan and India, which are seen as alternative markets because Moscow fears it may lose energy consumers in Europe over the Crimea stand-off.

He still seems to have considerable reach in the system, he's always to be found at cricketing events, seems to be involved with IPL and a couple of years ago when there was an ill-advised clamour for resumption of cricket series between India and Baki, he was all over TV channels with his interviews and snippets.

I still wonder how exactly is he affiliated with Indian cricket.

Mumbai: Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh chief Prakash Ambedkar on Monday alleged that Union minister Rajeev Shukla had met India's 'Enemy Number One' in Pakistan on April 5, 2004, and discussed important security issues with him.

Ambedkar produced a two-page document, which he claims was an internal report of the external affairs ministry, to corroborate his allegation. Though Ambedkar didn't specify who 'Enemy Number One' mentioned in the said report was, it is well known that Indian security agencies use the phrase to refer to Dawood Ibrahim. Shukla, however, rubbished the allegations.

As per the alleged confidential report, Shukla was part of the BCCI delegation that accompanied the Indian cricket team on the tour of Pakistan in 2004. The document has details of Shuklas alleged meeting with 'Enemy Number One' in Lahore, at the farm house of Atikur Rehman, who is said to be an ISI operative and close associate of 'Enemy Number One'. Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh chief Prakash Ambedkar on Monday produced the alleged internal report of the ministry of external affairs 'G' Desk to corroborate his allegation, which states that Union minister Rajeev Shukla's activities and movements were under the scanner when he travelled to Pakistan in 2004 as a BCCI delegate with the Indian cricket team, which went to play an ODI series with Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium.

The document produced by Ambedkar states, Mr Shukla was at the stadium with the cricket team till lunch and slipped away from the stadium around 2.30 pm. He went to the farmhouse of Major Rehman, where ˜Enemy Number Onewas already present. Mr Shukla even handed some documents to ˜Enemy Number One˜ some copies of correspondence between Mr Shukla and the PMO was part of the said documents. An Indian agent codenamed FAE-31 was also present at the meeting and he later sent a detailed report to the MEA.

According to FAE-31, Shukla told 'Enemy Number One' that only four RAW officers were posted in an Indian mission to snoop on underworld dons and hawala racketeers based in Pakistan. Shukla also said that he had written a three-page letter to the Prime Minister and made a pointed reference to RAWs non-planned expenditure having mounted to Rs 100 crores and said that the agency presence in Pakistan is less than half of its sanctioned strength.

He also told ˜Enemy Number One˜ that to curb and control RAWs operation in Pakistan he had demanded the institution of a Cabinet committee or a high-powered panel under the Cabinet Secretary to suggest its revamp, the document states with regard to the confidential documents, Mr Ambedkar demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh clarify whether Mr Shukla was authorised to meet the Pakistani military establishment.

Responding to these allegations, Shukla said the report on the basis of which the allegations are being made is fake and bogus.

It's a five-year-old allegation and he has been repeating it over and over again. There is no basis to his allegations. The documents, which he claims to have with him, are fake and bogus. It's nonsense, said Shukla.

A son-in-law of former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry has been arrested from Dubai in a case regarding the multi-billion Eden Housing Society scam, in what Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry described as a "breakthrough" on Wednesday. The minister termed the arrest of Murtaza Amjad by the Federal Investigation Agency in UAE as a "major success" in the government's campaign for accountability. The warrants for his arrest were issued by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

He claimed that former CJP Chaudhry had made the "shocking" decision by hearing a case regarding the housing scheme himself, and later gave "relief" to its owners because they were the in-laws of his daughter.The minister said others accused of allegedly cheating people who had invested their money in the Eden Housing Society included Iftikhar Chaudhry's son, Arsalan Iftikhar, his daughter and the father-in-law of his daughter.

NAB has estimated the property seized from the Eden group to be worth up to Rs20bn. The bureau has claimed that it would compensate the affectees soon.In June, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had written a letter to NAB Chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal, asking him to launch an investigation against ex-CJP Chaudhry and his family for allegedly receiving benefits in the scam of the failed Eden Housing Society.Taking to Dawn at the time, Fawad had claimed that Chaudhry’s daughter got married to the son of Eden Housing Society's owner at a time when her father as the chief justice of the country was hearing a case regarding alleged irregularities in the housing scheme.
He had claimed that after the marriage, the names of the housing scheme’s owners had been removed from ECL and they later left the country.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday offered high-level security as well as better treatment facilities to General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on his return to the country, to face the trials pending against him.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar said that head of the Rangers force in the relevant province would be responsible for Musharaf’s security as well as providing him the services of best doctors available if he comes back and faces the cases pending against him including high treason case.

On Tuesday, the court offered high-level security to the former president upon his return to the country and gave Akhtar Shah, counsel for former president, time to inform it about the timeframe of his return.

During the course of hearing, the CJ asked the counsel as to why Musharraf was reluctant to come back and face trials, pending against him. He recalled that Musharraf went abroad on the pretext of pain in his backbone. However, later on he was found quite healthy and dancing abroad, ( to a Bollywood song !) but reluctant to return home.

During the hearing, the lawyer informed the court that Pervez Musharraf owns nothing in the country, whereas he has a flat worth 5.4 million dirhams in Dubai. The counsel told the court that a farmhouse in Chak Shahzad, worth Rs43.6m, had been leased in the name of Musharraf’s wife. Later, the court gave a week to the counsel for submitting a timeframe for return of Musharraf.

What about the fact that he "sweet talked" late King Abdullah of Saudia ,who gave him a couple of million dollars , so that Mush can go away quietly in the sunset ! What happened to that Moolah !

VEHARI: More than 20 students choked on Wednesday after inhaling smoke from fireworks used in the oath-taking ceremony of the municipal committee chairman.It was reported that the students were attending regular school classes adjacent to the municipal hall where the oath-taking ceremony was taking place.

Strange that the day was not declared as a public holiday in Vehari !

After inhaling the smoke, some of the students were left unconscious and were rushed to the District Hospital for medical assistance.Following the incident, at least eight people involved in using fireworks were arrested by the local police. Further, the deputy commissioner confirmed that a case was registered against the organisers of the event.

"FATF Police" To Pay A Visit Next Month

ISLAMABAD: A Financial Action Task Force (FATF) delegation is set to visit Pakistan in October as the federal government and relevant departments launch preparations for the visit.A Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) policy board’s meeting under the chairmanship of the finance secretary will be held on Wednesday to overview relevant issues regarding the visit. A nine-point agenda regarding the visit will also be discussed during the meeting.

Furthermore, a working paper has been prepared by the SECP against terror-financing and money-laundering with listed recommendations including measures to identify foreign and local transactions.

Remains to be seen if FATF will be "satisfied" with these "theoretical" measures put in a report !

The FATF delegation will submit recommendations over whether to move the country to the organisation’s black-list or remove it from the grey-list. In August this year, Finance Minister Asad Umar said that the country had been given 15 months to comply with the organisation’s requirements. The deadline, according to the finance minister, has been set to September, 2019.

So, in theory, Pakiland has still got a full one year to escape the gallows . In the meantime, they can still "fool" the FATF Police with producing reports upon reports containing Sialkoti Statistics and La-Whori Logic . In the end, at least IMO, it is going to join the coveted Black List along with "allies" NOKO and Iran

“27 deficiencies have been identified by the FATF having to deal with currency smuggling, havala and terror financing of proscribed organisations,” he informed the Senate last month, adding that the delegation had visited as part of a routine evaluation and not related to Pakistan’s position on the grey-list. A National Action Committee ( who will do what !) had also been formed over the matter, the finance minister said at the time.

In June this year, Pakistan was added to the grey-list of the FATF for failing to curb terrorism financing. In response, the country had made a “a high-level political commitment” to cooperate with the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) to fight against money-laundering and terrorism financing.

Even the Chinis and the Saudis abandoned Pakiland !

India reneges on deal to get power projects inspected

India has postponed inspection of its two hydropower projects — 1,000MW Pakal Dul and 48MW Lower Kalnal — by Pakistani experts on the pretext of some local issues.

Sources see it as a possible impact of the recent cancellation of talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“It seems to be an fallout of the recent tension emerging with the cancellation of the talks by India as other issues are normally affected in a larger context in such situations,” a senior official who asked for anonymity told Dawn on Tuesday.

India, through the letter, also explained the reasons behind confirmation of Oct 7-11 schedule for the visit of Pakistani experts. They (Indian authorities), according to the letter, stated that since the administration of the respective districts in held Kashmir would be busy in holding the local bodies elections till Oct 5, the inspection tour of Pakistani experts would only be possible from Oct 7 to 11.

But now the Indian authorities have postponed the scheduled inspection

Pakis need to understand the difference between "postponed" and "reneged (cancelled)". The proposed inspection tour has not been cancelled. Idiots.

Irsa calls for building two mega dams to address growing water challenges

The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) on Tuesday anticipated 35-40 per cent shortfall of irrigation water in Rabi season beginning Oct 1, and advised the government to start working on building at least two storage reservoirs to address the increasing future challenges.

This pathetic scenario has been described by the Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) in which he bluntly explained his own experience that the candidates who were willing to be appointed as Assistant Professor didn’t know about their own research work or dissertation for which they got their degrees. Most of them were totally blind about the word “research” and its basics.

M.Phil and Ph.D research work can be bought from the people who produce fake research work on demand.

The future of the nation will be dark as educated illiterates would be growing drastically compared to the innovative and competent scholars.

Dolphin Police spotted helping bike-riding girls in Lahore (Video)

LAHORE – Two Dolphin force officials were spotted helping the girls whose motorbike apparently run out of petrol at Mughalpura area of Lahore.
In a video clip, the officials, whose prime duty is to curb street crimes in Lahore, can be seen holding the hand of a female bike rider, apparently, ( sharia compliant ) taking them to a fuel station. The girls were also not hesitant about the act of the policeman. ( Mullah Brigade should take due note !)

Earlier, two of Dolphin personnel were apprehended for their alleged involvement in looting citizens. The Crime Investigation Agency Lahore arrested four suspects, including two officials of Dolphin Force, during the probe in dozens of robberies happened in the city.

LAHORE – There has been a social media uproar after various packages of Ali express that went missing are being sold at a Sunday Bazaar in Islamabad. People were horrified at how easily the packages were being sold at 200 rs with “luck” depending on what would be inside.

However in depth research was done on the items and it was discovered that the addresses are from different countries like Poland, Hong Kong, Azerbaijan, France, Finland etc, while not even one is from Pakistan.

It seems the packages were purchased from another country as refused articles and then imported as second hand material.It was learned that the parcels were being sold at Shop # F-086. It is being managed by Sardar Zeeshan Khan for the past 8 years who hails from Kasmir.

From what "investigate reporting" being done here, it seems to be a legit business !

Pakistan’s Islamic Ideology Council supports punishment on triple talaq, says chairman
Sept 26, 2018

ISLAMABAD – Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Dr Qibla Ayaz said on Wednesday that the authority supports the decision of deeming triple talaq in one sitting as punishable.

Dr Ayaz while addressing media after a CII session said that saying three times ‘divorce’ at the same time was punishable act and penalty regarding this would be discussed with religious scholars. The Fatwa and Hadith route !

The council also decided that to remedy the prevalent divorce rate and other such issues, a consolidated form for divorce will be prepared which will include punitive measures for cases in which divorce is declared three times in one sitting, he said.

Members of the council during the meeting observed that in such situations, women and children are adversely affected, especially with regard to their emotional health and future education.He further said the CII discourages marriages of minors. Dr Ayaz said that the council considers children below the age of 16 as under-aged.

Should they not follow Saudia ( now that they have "joined" CPEC !) and lower the age to ten years

The council has urged the government to start an awareness drive with the assistance of religious scholars to discourage people from supporting underage marriages. It was also recommended that educational institutes carry out similar drives to raise awareness regarding the matter.

On November 3, Dr Qibla Ayaz was appointed the chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), Pakistan’s top Islamic advisory body, for a period of three years. He replaced Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani, a politician from the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, who headed the Council for six years.

The CII was first set up in 1962, during the term of Gen Ayub Khan. Its mandate was and is to assist the government in Islamising the laws.

Ayub, a whiskey drinking "Field Marshall" was Islamic in name only . During his reign, polygamy was prohibited and he used to "use Islam" to whip up the Abduls against "Hindu India"

The triple Talaq practice has been banned by Indian Supreme Court also. Ruling on the cases, the majority of the bench was of the view that triple talaq “is not integral to religious practice and violates constitutional morality”.The Indian government also cleared a bill that makes instant triple talaq or talaq-e-biddat a crime and provides for a jail term.

PTI MNA gets interim bail in smuggling case

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member National Assembly Aslam Khan alia Aslam Singapori ( elected from Karachi) has been granted interim bail in smuggling case against surety bond of Rs500,000.

The customs court directed Aslam to submit the surety bonds.

Finally, Aslam Khan has accepted he was absconder and filed for protective bail in the high court which was granted.

Earlier, Khan had denied being proclaimed offender, but after getting protective bail, he appeared before Customs Court and filed for interim bail.

It is pertinent to mention here that Aslam Khan is accused of smuggling electronic appliances ( from Singapore ) and the customs court had declared him proclaimed offender and had issued his permanent arrest warrants.

KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA-elect, who defeated the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan’s (MQM-P) candidate in its Azizabad, Karachi, stronghold, is an ‘absconder’ in a 20-year-old smuggling case, court documents show.

Mohammed Aslam Khan claimed 75,702 votes to win NA-254 Karachi Central-II, where MQM has its headquarters. The party has dominated the city for the past three decades. The MQM-P’s Shaikh Salahuddin was runner-up with 48,813 votes in the July 25 elections.

However, court documents show that 20 years ago Khan absconded after being accused in a smuggling case in which two of his accomplices were convicted.The special court of customs and taxation in Karachi tried Mohammed Azam and Hameeduddin, two of Khan’s accomplices, in December 1998.

There is no conviction against this man,” Naqvi told Arab News.He said that Khan was “a man of really good repute.”“He had been holding a famous food festival in Karachi’s Frere Hall for the past five years. They government has been dealing with him, many companies have been dealing with him,” Naqvi said. “He is no criminal.”

IG Police Suggests Increasing Traffic Fines by Up to 2000% ( ) in Lahore

The Inspector General of Police Operations in Lahore has requested the provincial IG Police and Chief Traffic Officer to increase traffic violation fines to Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 2,000 for cars and motorbikes respectively.

The inflation factor

The current penalties for breaking traffic rules are Rs. 500 for car/jeep drivers and Rs. 200 for motorcyclists, so if the new fine rates are put into place, the traffic violation charges will increase by a hefty 2000% for cars and 1000% for bikes.

With the increase in fines, expect the Police also to "demand" increase in baksheesh from the Abduls !

The city already imposed a new law to fine bikers who refuse to wear helmets. Before that, the Lahore High Court directed the authorities to heavily fine and arrest parents who let their underage children drive cars. The judge took notice of increasing traffic violations and accidents on the road and directed the authorities to take stern actions to improve the city’s roads.Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) also introduced an e-challan system for Lahore recently. The system monitors traffic flow and fines people if they violate any traffic rules. For now, the system will only fine those who don’t stop at a red light.However, e-challans will soon be issued for other types of violations as well, and will be delivered to the violators’ address via a courier service.

JEDDAH . An overseas Filipino worker was shot and killed in Saudi Arabia after allegedly stabbing to death his Saudi manager and a Pakistani co-worker on Wednesday afternoon, according to local media.

The Filipino chased the Pakistani worker Arbab Ahmed with a knife and fire extinguisher following a dispute between them at their accommodation at the Farsan Island unit of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) in the southern Jazan province.

When the Pakistani fled to the nearby SEC office and took shelter at the office of manager Naseebi who in turn tried to pacify the attacker. However, the Filipino stabbed Naseebi, aged 56, at least seven times, mainly on his chest and throat.

The attacker also released the liquid of fire extinguisher to prevent those who attempted to overpower him during his rampage, the Saudi Gazette reports.The Filipino, who was seriously injured when a security guard fired at him, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in the island. His identity was withheld pending notification of his next of kin.The Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed the incident.In a statement, the SEC has offered condolence to the bereaved family members of the deceased manager and worker.
